HDMI IN????? - Epic 4G General

Is there any way to use the Epic as a mini monitor? I'm assuming not but I figured I'd ask anyways. Would it be possible at all?

That's actually a very good idea but I don't think its possible.
epic

No HDMI in for the simple reason that there is no hardware support.

Doesn't really make any sense since our resolution is so low the HDMI input video would look horrible. Also, considering we can't even get the standard video out to work I seriously doubt the reverse is going to work.

Not wired, but there's this app: http://www.shapeservices.com/en/products/details.php?product=idisplay&platform=android
Theres another that I can't find right now (magic something I think). Both are based on VNC mirror display drivers, do you need a pc, a server app for the pc and the client software for your andoid.
Good luck.

[Q] LogMeIn or HomePipe?

Hello,
I am looking for an app that will allow me to access my music/video from my Mac to my EVO. I installed LogMeIn last night but that may be overkill for what I am trying to accomplish, I do not want full control of the cpu from my phone. Which brings me to Home Pipe. Any thoughts on which would be best for my situation?
Thanks
DropBox !
i've been using homepipe for a while and i've had some issues with it. the host on my desktop keeps disconnecting for no reason. Currently i'm using Orb which works quite well with music. i haven't tried it with videos or pictures yet.

I only want access the music and videos on my cpu, I don't need to do much extra from the device.
Thanks you guys
Orb works pretty decent. I have logmein and that's for computer control which you don't need.

I just did my homework on this and it seems to be the best one mainly because it seems as though your cpu does not need to even be on to access your files. Only thing is that monthly charge for more storage but it seems to be worth it.
Gmote is what you are looking for.
I've used orb on my g1, bb, ming, iPhone, some crappy Samsung touchscreen, and evo. It's worked great on all of them. I highly recommend.

Do you mean your desktop computer? You know your phone has a cpu in it, which you already have access to since you have it in your hand.

In this situation I'm definitely not referring to my phone as the cpu. I'm only 1/3 geek so excuse me if I'm not technical enough lol

DLNA

Ok so I tried to do a little research and couldn't come up with much... I think our phones support dlna I'm just curious how to use it and what exactly we can use it for, sorry, I'm kinda noobish on this topic... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...thank you in advance

It would be used to stream media content (videos, pictures, audio) to DLNA compatible home theater things. Such as displaying videos from your phone on your tv. No idea how it works, or if it even works for us currently.
The stock allshare app is a dlna app, I believe.

THIS. i really wish we had the video out through the 3.5mm jack like the 9000 and a few other GS phones have. its totally screwed up that it was left out.

iMediaShare is an alternative app on the Market... works really well, if not better than AllShare. Both work "automatically" with Samsung wifi TV's which also is pretty cool You just click the available device and the app does the rest.

So you want to see the game you're playing on your phone from your PC? Just use a MicroUSB -> HDMI adapter and link it directly to an HDMI monitor, it will work better!
Or maybe I didn't get what you need?
You won't find anything hat isn't sluggish, but try MyMobiler. It used to be pretty good on WM, but I haven't tried the Android version.

Thanks man, will try it out! any more suggestions? and iam talking about playing graphically intensive games!
What you desire is not going to happen on your laptop, unless you fork out a whole lot of money for hardware to give you HDMI input.

[Q] using the N7 as a monitor for a USB webcam

Do a bit of astrophotography, with a tocam web cam, via a PC laptop. Quite a bit though to cart around, thought that the N7 would be a great low weight alternative. Have looked for apps, bit haven't found anything yet that does this. Anyone know of anything that might do the job?

I've seen some ip based webcam solutions, maybe you could forward the signal to your ip address and use it like that? Just a thought, but I don't know for sure if it can be accomplished.
I use a Dlink WiFi/network cam.
Works like a charm with my SIII and Nexus 7.

I know this is an old thread but has anyone figured out a solution for this? I would like to be able to use my nexus 7 as a monitor for a usb web cam via an otg cable. I found this video where someone hacked the kernel but that is way beyond me.

Anybody?

N7 to External Monitor

Is there anyway to hook up the nexus 7 to an external monitor. (DVI, HDMI, VGA)
is there a piece of hardware that I could buy if not? (To make it work with the previously mentioned connections)
Thanks for your Time

Bubbleupnp works great. Also imediashare. I use bubbleupnp daily to stream video from my n7 to my xbox360
Press thanks if I helped ~ Nexus7/ParanoidAndroid/FrancoKernel
Honestly I was hoping to do more than just stream, I'd like to be able to (Somehow) hook it up to a monitor, get a bt keyboard and mouse attached and use it as a computer.
(I truthfully doubt dlna can do that, but if it can i'll buy an adaptor for my monitor, and we'll be in business)
So, you want some kind of mirroring?
Sorry but this is impossible for the n7!
Yes. That is What I would like.
Is there any external buyable hardware that can make this possible?

No, sorry.
Have you looked at the raspberry pi and android transporter? If you are willing to root an use their ROM, it should do good enough to mirror your screen to tv
