[Q] Most Stable/Fast Rom for Daily Use.? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello there Experts,
I love Android as much as you guys do. Maybe more.
This is the best thing ever !hands down.
But right now I'm going through a phase where I am unable to find a ROM that is stable enough to be used everyday and i get frustrated.
My iPhone loving dumb buddies laugh at me everyday.......but i wont give up. I dont care I will always love Android.
I went from SD Install of MDJ's CM7( Ginger Bread) to NAND FLash to MDJ'S CM7 and currently Dandiest's Desire.
They all crash , freeze , sometimes data/mobile internet will not disable.I call someone and it takes 15 seconds to hear the dial tone.........people cannot reach me....its always something.something.something
Right now i really am looking for some direction/guidance from all your experts out there.......please help !
Give me one ROM that I can flash through NAND/MAGLDR and then use it for months without issues......I know iphone sucks...i hate it loathe it.
But i am looking for something that is as stable as iphone's iOS.
If its the greatest and best most stable and fast ROM, you know what , I will learn how to flash using CWM......but give me something please.
Please Please Please help guys...please !
God Bless you all !!!!!!
-King Koopa

i was using the MDJ CM7 for about a month with no problems. ive since switched to Hyperdroid GBX and its pretty fast & stable.

Mccm honey comb sense theme rom is i guess the most smoothest rom iv ever used..it easily beats mdjs cyanogen as well

I'm using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909096 for a month. No problem, simply, fast and everything works ok.

The best Android ROM?

Hey guys, I just want to know a majority vote at which Android ROM is the best as I have my Leo but I'm really wanting Android running on it. I tried Froyo 2.1 but very quickly changed to Android Energy ROM but while running it the ROM had crashed and wouldn't load again after reboot. Is there any ROM out there which is the most stable.
Please any information will help me. I REALLY WANT ANDROID!!! haha

I have tried a few roms and have found Hyperdroid 1.6 to be the most stable, to be honest in the 2 weeks ive been using it the phone has lagged only once or twice, all item seem to work well, and it fits the screen really well as the theme/system has been edited. I would recomend it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026
unfortunately this seems to be very phone dependent..
some builds work great on my phone, some crash a lot.
kinda have to try them out and pick what one you like best..
plus many of the differences between most of the builds are themes and kernels.
pick what looks good to you.

Goodbye MDJ - Welcome Pongster's HyperDroid-CM7

After a long time of a love / hate relationship with MDJs_CyanogenMod7_v.2.6_NAND_A2SDCWM ROM, I have now switched to Pongsters latest HyperDroid-CM7-v1.0.2 and OH BOY; what a revelation!
To anyone here who, like me has been deliberating about switching from MDJ's excellent (but buggy!) ROM to an alternative CyanogenMod ROM, here me now!
I had read / re-read Pongsters thread & liked a lot of what he said:-
...In the spirit of the open source community, allow me to share and give back to something I enjoy participating in .... THIS is NOT a PORT... its Completely Built FROM SOURCE, Fully Optimized and Tweaked for the HD2!

Good words, excellent thread with the developer actually present & responding to questions, so, I bit the bullet & took the plunge! I backed up everything using Titanium first though - just in case
Installed the new ROM via CWM - waited (very!) anxiously ......
WOW! Pongsters HyperDroid-CM7-v1.0.2 simply blows away MDJ's ROM - its a no brainer! Its faster, and soooo much smoother!
(Have to say I hated the miniscule font that the ROM comes with, but this is an easy change! - Sorry Pongster!)
I cant believe it - now I can access my HD2 via FTP & WiFi and - when I finish a call of more than a few minutes, my phone no longer locks up! These issues really pi**ed me off with the MDJ build.
OK - you have to install CWM Recovery but that's so easy & there are several videos on YouTube showing how to do it. Once you have CWM you can try out any CWM rom! Simples!
In fact, after I had installed HyperDroid-CM7-v1.0.2 & did a NAND backup I switched back to the old MDJ ROM- just as a comparison! That lasted about 10 mins & now I use HyperDroid-CM7-v1.0.2 as my daily ROM.
I was nervous about making the change & became very "forgiving" for the MDJ rom and its well documented issues, however after the last "battery removal" (when the HD2 locked up yet again after a 10 minute phone call) I simply ran out of patience!
My HD2 is like a new phone! Cheers Pongster
I hope that this post helps others, who like me was "sitting on the fence" waiting for MDJ to return & continue work on his ROM.
Cheers
I'm sure MDJ would probably have the best CyanogenMod ROM out right now if he was actually allowed on here and if he abided to the GPL. He's not just off taking a break btw.
I was loyal to MDJ roms for quite some time back before nand but eventually switched.
First I went to Ultimate Droid which was brilliant for a while but when that got updated to version 3 it seemed to be very buggy. I was using TyphooN CM7 for some time which is excellent but I've recently switched to Pongster's HyperDroid CM7. I've not really noticed any big differences between HyperDroid & TyphooN. Both seem really fast and stable and I'd recommend either of them but with HyperDroid I do need to change the LCD Density back to original 240 - It's way to small.
IMO they're the best Android Roms currently available and I've tested a lot of different roms.

I don't know what issues you're talking about in the MDJ CM7 rom, everything worked for me! I didn't have any issue other then the usual rare app not working with gingerbread, that it happens with all gingerbread roms, I just needed a rom with support from the dev, so I had to move on. I just switched to the ultimatedroid 3.1.1 v2, and every seems to be working fine, I like to test out a rom for a few days before I can move on, so if I'm not satisfied by mid week I'll move on, maybe I'll give the pongster rom a try next!
I didn't have too many bugs with MDJ's build, but typhoon CM7 v2.6.2 is IMO far and away the best ROM right now, although to be honest I haven't given Pongsters build a fair shake.
I'm currently using an old MDJ 2.0 version. I would like to try this build or Typhoon but can I just flash it with CWM without doing something with the Ext2 or 3 on my sd-card? Just flash with clean cache??
Ciao
it's not that stable, and the fon is verry small/ forced closed on first boot

I've tried all of the above, and IMO Typhoon CM7 is the best Gingerbread build out. The battery life is great, very customizable, and rarely is ever lags. It's probably the most stable, reliable builds I've tried.
Crawlingcity's, and Pongster's builds are close seconds though.
I have to agree with the OP! MDJ did make great ROMs back in the "early" android for HD2 days, now other chefs are contributing to the scene with great, stable ROMs.
I have tried most Ginger builds, but I still find the Ginger series from BOYPPC to be the best for my needs. Closer to "stock CM7" and not skinned to death Yea, and this is the only HD2 Ginger ROM (to my knowlege) with a working FM radio. Other then that, the ROM is fast, stable and clean, and with great battery life.

Ok, maybe the HyperDroid isnt looking good (?) but, you can change everyting so you like it.
Boys and girls try Hyperdroid v10 and you will never ever search for other builds.
i agree with OP!!
pongsters rom always smooth n fast
I have never lasted with build as long as I have kept MDJ's, it just works perfect!!!
Not to say it has no bugs, but it is very stable, probably the fastest, most stable rom I’ve had yet, and I had quite a few before his!
but the new futures are forcing my hand at a change and I have been searching for a while to find a new candidate, I know pongstar's roms are great, i used to use his on wm 6.5, but i prefer the natural look to the look he's got going for his rom and I’ve been waiting for him or someone to fix the Bluetooth issue which seems like it is not going to happen anytime soon.
I've never played with sense as i like ginger's work too much but i really like what imika has done, too bad it's not stable enough yet and it seems like no updates to the few problems (like camera) are in the horizon yet.
I spent today searching and trying to figure out what happen to MDJ, i did, not sure if ultimate droid is his work, as I ran to a topic saying that it's his website. I also ran to another old rant from Gingerbread guys not saying nice things about ultimate droid but that was old rant i suppose.
I still have not made a decision, so many choices, i wish MDJ was here and would have stopped being so naughty and shared his toys like the rest of the boys.
in closing I like to thank all of the mods for the great work they put into our device, I was thinking of getting rid of my HD2 before i permanently ported to MDJ's (after unsuccessfully trying a couple of not so stable android builds and going back to wm6). You guys make me proud of my little device and all your efforts do not go unnoticed, even if we, the users, can be a little bit of pricks sometimes.
Any advice on super stable, fat rom, to replace my MDJ would be highly appreciated btw
Thanks

A few weeks ago I would have agreed with you 100% & MDJ's rom was the #1 choice for me. BUT .. there are a lot of smart chefs doing great things with the HD2 - many of whom play an active part in the forums here. These guys actually respond personally to your questions / queries - and abide by the rules! Heads we win - Tails we win! What more could you ask for?

If you change the LCD Density back to original 240, Pongsters HyperDroid-CM7-v1.0.2 looks much like the MDJ build (lot more hidden goodies tho!) - thats where the similarity ends as HyperDroid-CM7 is faster & smoother than the old MDJ build. Its also much more stable.

Go for it - if you have CWM installed it'll take just a few minutes to check out HyperDroid-CM7. You've nothing to lose & much to gain!
There's no way would I go back to MDJ's ROM after running HyperDroid-CM7!
currently i'm running mdj 2.6
when i flash this rom through CWM will i still have all my progress in games and settings?
im using NAND based..any good roms for it?
I was using MDJ's for a long while when just doing DFT flashes to nand. I finally bought in to CWM since no one was doing DFT anymore.
My first was Pongster's rom.. i dont know-- I went with it because thats what seemed like everyone was getting.. It seemed more "power user" type.
I then went to Tyween Typhoon CM7. thats what I use now. My rom of choice currently. Just "feels" better for the average joe who wants Gingerbread
it's not that stable
FOR ME,CM7 HAVE A LOT BUG.
I'm still holding on to MDJ CM7 2.6, maybe this thread will make me port out to pongster's build.. I had use his build previously during the sd card days .. at that time he stopped updating the rom as donation version of his rom could no longer be talked about on xda.
You guys should really try hypersroidgbx v10, been using the hyperdroidgbx since v6 and it is really fast and stable

[Q] Most Optimized Gingerbread ROM for HD2?

Let me preface this by saying I am not trying to start a "What is the best ROM" thread. My question is simple. Of the many Android ROMs available for the HD2, which is the most optimized and stable Gingerbread ROM? Furthermore, is there some sort of CM7 port for the HD2?
+1
Anyone help !?
After testing several Roms on my retired Leo, my best experience was with HyperdroidGBX. Very very fast, good battery life and overall an excellent ROM.

Personally, I've used NDT MIUI for a quite some time, it's not for everyone I guess, but you could always use a different launcher. It's never given me problems, and it runs smooth as silk
Before MIUI I was a hyperdroid fanboy though, both are excellent roms

I'm sorry but rephrasing the "What is the best ROM" question doesn't make it any different...U didn't even take d time out to check out the Android dev threads, cuz if u did then u surely would have seen not 1 but 2 threads featuring cm7 ports for the HD2....U won't get any real help here cuz we all use our phones differently, wats cool for me might not be cool for u so go out there and flash...flash..flash...Flashing is much safer & far easier than before with the help of CWM...Look @ screenshots & read devs/user posts on wat works and doesn't...Find d ROM dat suits U & U alone....XDA is a development site, so show some effort & u'll be rewarded.
By all means, start here.

I'm sorry but I really didn't want people's personal preferences on ROM's. When I meant the most optimized Gingerbread ROM, I meant the most optimized ROM. Not talking about features, looks or anything else. Just the smoothest one that runs Gingerbread. I also apologize that I didn't look around the forums enough to find the CM7 port thread. I'm still learning my way around these forums and I have very little knowledge regarding these ROMs and such but I will do my best to look for relevant threads.

I base my own tests on how good gun bros runs on the roms i have tested and till now only NexusHd2- from tytung runs this game without any problems. All other roms failed. It may be that i am doing something wrong but is very unlikely.
I've tried CM7 nightlies and tytung's rom, both have issues last I checked (last week). Tytung build seemed great, but just had the phone app lockup/issue mid-call (perhaps it's fixed by now).
I settled on Tyween's TyphooN CM7 "nightly" build, and have had no issues at all since the install.

If you are looking for the most stable and fast rom, try tytung Gingerbread v2.9. Many will tell you that it is simply the best andriod rom out there.

This is kinda like asking what do you prefer crunchy or creamy peanut butter...your bound to get many different responces. lol.
Check out this site. It lists almost all the nand android ROMs found here on XDA in a place thats much easier to find it.
AmeriCanAndroid is a great ROM and its updated often so thats always a good starting point. if your one that prefers HTC sense then maybe try out RAFDROID HD. i've personally found this ROM very fast and stable. If you like more of a iphone type feel then try a miui ROM out. i would suggest LADY MIUI or D4RK MIUI.
There really is no one best ROM, i think anyway. This is because everyone has their phone set up slightly different and also want different things on their cell. just try out a few ROMs intill you find something you want to stick with for a little bit of time and see how it goes. It took me several months to settle on a ROM because i always wanted to flash every new ROM that came out. lol.
I tried Miui, Sense and cynogen based roms; Miui has the best home applications like the camera app, phone app, etc. The fastest (real difference), with lots of tweaks and the best baterry for me is Dorimanx High end rom, although some of his builds are not stable because he is always updating his rom. Im using dorimanx rom right now, although im waiting to see if Hyperdroid is updated wich is another excellent rom.
Hello,
I tried BoyPPC ROMs and it's quite fast, stable and regularly updated so it seems well followed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1199917
But I agree with previous comments that it depends on your configuration and your needs. each one has pros and cons and you should just test the one that best fits to your needs.
Since Feb I'm using AmeriCanAndroid (well, cope's sd rom at that time, before he and warrenb started together AmeriCanAndroid). Haven't changed to anything else since then. Have switched to the nand version since 2-3 weeks and I'm happy with it.
Pyramid
I tested many Roms.
Because I like that HTC stuff, I searched a long time for a stable Sense 3 ROM.
This ROM is amazing and works verry well and smooth:

Most stable android rom?

Hey,
So I switched to another phone like 4months ago and now my father wants to have my HD2, so I need a really stable rom.
Im not really informed on what is there for the hd2 at the moment, so I thought I just ask.
I dont need a rom thats fast, well it shouldnt be too slow but it should be really bug free and stable so that he does not run into any problems.
Any suggestions?

Normally I would flame you for asking a stupid and over-asked question, but since I'm in a nice mood I'll tell you to stick to MIUI and CM7 ROMs, ICS is slow, Sense is (in my opinion) slower than other ROMs and there really isn't any point in using anything else. Try some of the SD versions of all the ROMs (you may like Sense as well) and you will find the right one. I personally use Typhoon CM7
Oh and in future, if you ever feel like 'just asking' in the future, ask the search bar first

I can also +1 on the passing on flaming, also Typhoon is a great GB rom
Make that 3 for 3 on wanting to torch the poor guy ...
I do, however, agree ... Try either Typhoon or (imo) Hyperdroid ... Not much (if anything missing, not working, or otherwise not good) in these roms. Both great builds!!!
I tried any kind of rom.
sense is not heavy like they say, and is still the best rom...
miui IMO is the best rom for hd2, light, faster than cm7 and sense, now is bug free...miui is my suggestion
Miui.... Hyperdroid... Cm7 I recently got my hd back from the jtag service, which was great..... and im running miui right now .... have tried all three of these though A sense rom set up properly can be pretty fast though
Hi
give Haldric v3 a chance, it's the best rom next to stock.

Agree. +1. Very nice and stable ROM
I've had good experience with the Typhoon CM7 ROM and the DorimanxROM (although this one is a bit harder to install if you want to have the high-performance version).
It seems that MIUI is worth a shot as well, but I personally never tried it.
As already mentioned, just try some different SD card versions and when you find one that you like, finally flash a NAND version of it.
