Projection of 'X' by X10's keypad LEDs - XPERIA X10 General

Ok,this is something which is nice to show off to all your friends,if you go in a dark room and turn on the phone with screen black/dark and 2 keypad lights on..you can project a 'X'.
Just keep the phone parallel to the surface for about 6 inches, move it up and down to get the best projection,if you keep it to close ,it will show a 'V' but if you raise above it will form a 'X'
make sure to project it on a dark surface to get the best results.
Hit thanks if it works for you!!!
P.S-there was a similar topic where X10 glows in night, however that was only for luster White X10,but this works for all.
Also can someone suggest how to change the LeD color of the keypad ,i know we can open the phone and change the LeDs or just put a coloured sheet!!

Uhhh cool....

small pink and blue balls
Hey,
Once, some years back, i've seen small pink and blue balls falling from the sky .......... but was under the influence of prohibited substances.
also count?

I guess it would be cool if it was intentional, however it's obviously a reflection of the "v" caused by the angle of the keys. Which leaves one burning question... What were you and your friends smoking? That's some good stuff.
If you think that's cool, you'd love the dog and bird shadows I can make with my hands and the X10's led flash light.

Mini Review

I received my phone yesterday.
Wow what colors! the black and the colors are beautiful.
However, the white, while great when looking at it straight on without tilting the phone, as soon as we tilt there's the blue tint that takes over the white, or whatever we call it =D but oh well! still a great screen.
This is the most touch sensitive screen I have ever used. I tested it by using my thumb, I don't have to feel that I touch the screen and it reacts. This is a bit of a problem since all the phone is touch sensitive except the home button..
I tried my nails also and it reacts perfectly to my nails
Hint for everyone, it's soooo easy to change the brightness! no need for a widget. You know where we swipe down the notification bar? well if you go to that area on top without swiping down but just swipe left and right instead while holding the notification area then you will control brightness from 0 to 100%, works perfectly! (Makes sure to remove automatic brightness or it won't work)
I find the screen is too sharp though, it needs a bit of blurring if that makes sense (on the letters that is, because I can see the pixels very easily) but it's pretty special to see it so sharp compared to my previous HTC Magic
Actually upon using it more I'm realizing it doesn't have the best white ever.. it always looks like there's a bit of "blueish tint" over the white =(.
the phone is sooo easy to clean lol I just wipe it on my jeans, both the screen and the back of the phone and it's wiped clean.
The vibration of the phone is very very weak. =(
The sound of the phone is loud for me.
The phone is very bright at 100% but still too bright at 0% which is a problem at night because it's way too bright, you think it's at 40% when it's at 0%. but that's fine still =)
I think sometimes that the phone doesn't save some settings.. I set up the camera, close it, etc.. come back in it and sometimes some settings are changed :S... I set up contacts.. then out of nowhere it unchecks Sim contacts and keeps phone contacts.. could be because I opened the case and moved the sim card a bit though.
720p recording looks wonderful, and normal camera is not bad, I feel Samsung could have done better there to maintain clarity of picture for far objects.
I would love a firmware update to help with camera speed: it is a bit slow to review pictures compared to my HTC Magic. the rest is quick and lovely .. so many settings T_T
the font is huge all over the phone lol, it is so easy to read.
edit: vibration is actually pretty strong, there's a setting to decide how strong we want it in "Sound and Display" (I thought it was for the touch feedback only but turns out it's for calls and sms, etc....)

colourful mark at the center of the screen

Hi all,
Just noticed this issue and want to see if there are any others noticed the same before or can check their HD2 for same issue.
My HD2 screen is perfect under day light or yellow light at night. with no mark-spot and very smooth.
Bu last night I noticed that under white light like fluorescent, there is a mark at the center of the screen with colours. you can see it when the screen is on or off. But on daylight or yellow light lamp, you can not see it in anyway.
Can you please check yours in white light?
Thanks.
reminder please
Could be a light case of newton ring...
I sat on my HD2 and ended up with what looked like a smudge / spot on my screen which had a kind of petrol rainbow around it...(you know when petrol mixes with water on the ground you can see a kind of rainbow effect??).
It was the "newton ring" issue, HTC replaced the screen for me via the service center...(search for "newton ring" on this forum and you can see many posts / pics I think)
What you have could be a light form of that, I guess the "smudge" (which was pretty prominent on my phone) is small on yours and you can only see the rainbow colours that appear around it...
On my phone the smudge and colors were right in the center of the screen...
Hope this helps.
Whatever
It is good to hear a reply. very clear.
Thank you.

samsung vibrant pixel marks

There seems to be an issue with the super amoled screen. Its not a biggy as of yet. It seems if you have something on the screen for long periods of time it will wear the pixels out. My example....if you go on a white screen in landscape, the look where the status bar usually is (where it says samssamsun) you can see a fainted image of the status bar and a collage of times, battery and signal (i assume from always changing). U cant really see it and sometimes i wish i couldnt. Small flaws like this upset me. My phone isnt rooted (no screen shots) if you have a vibrant or galaxy s. Could you text and see if this is a product wide issue. Thank you for reading please leave comments.
Don't see that on my phone?
uhh, a screen shot wouldnt show burned out or worn out pixels dude.
So I ran the flashlight application, held up the screen, tried looking at different angles, and couldn't find one anomaly.
You should trade it in for a new one.
did the same thing with the flashlight app, nothing shows up. this dude is on crack.

Maybe he just has a lemon?
I can attest to this. I see it after just booting up and going from the lock screen to the desktop. I can see the faint outline of the white numbers from the time on the lockscreen on my GenieWidget on my desktop at the top of my homescreen(widget has grey background). It seems to dissappear though.
I have some when using color flashlight I see marks where the time is. It is very light but I see it. Tmobile is replacing it now. Lol

The best I could to to check mine was to open up my email. The whole screen is white. I did not see anything except white along the edge.

thank you very much.
please try in LCD Test(*#0*# in Diagnostic Mode) select RED you will see a white border but on my device left-border is green (other sides are OK).
It's very hard to be absolutely sure on red, but on blue and green the edges are definitely all white.

I loaded your JPG onto my Focus and the left side is green. The left side is always green, but the right side and even the top and bottom can also appear green if you hold the phone at certain angles. The green can also appear purple at extreme angles.
Is this a manufacturing flaw, or just a characteristic of AMOLED screens? Could it be some sort of back-lighting source that's located along the left edge that's causing the green tint?
I loaded the picture after downloading it and then attaching it to an email.
It does have a strange tint on the left side.
I then created my own version of the image. I started with a 480 x 800 blank image in Photoshop. I filled the entire image with black at 100% opaque.
Then I stroked the outer edge with 1 pixel of white. I repeated this using 2 pixels and then 3 pixels. As you can see, it is still visible at 3 pixels, but it is starting to turn white. I think we are seeing a consistent result that means the AMOLED screens have a slight design problem that is not considered to be worth holding back this technology from the market. I know I like the display and this is minor.

[Q] Battery's effect on the screen?? :/

Hey guys. Its been a while now i'm using this phone. I gotta admit i give a hard time on the phone's battery (charging cycle that is, i dnt let it fully charge and all). But I can't avoid that.
Anyways. I have this issue:
When a GRAY background is displayed on the phone, (like on a white webpage, when the keyboard is opened) i notice these VERTICAL BANDINGS/GRADIENTS on the screen
They appear on the left and the right sides (1 cm or so from the end of the display).
I also notice the horizontal banding/gradient half a centimeter below the status bar but its REALLLLYYY subtle.
My prediction?
Remember i said i give my battery a hard time? Well to be its the battery pushing the display from the back (probably swelled the poor guy lol) and giving this.
Why do i think this?
Well because
The banding lies EXACTLY where the left and right edges of the battery might probably be
IMPORTANT ASWELL: When i put a pressure on the display, the glass PUSHES the display (and creates those lovely watery ripples) ON THE SAME EDGES WHERE THE BANDING EXISTS.
Extra info: It might be a backlit problem, since its not present at any brightness level on any colour. Red blue green orange pink black purple, even gray(the banding is where the backlit dims)
So yeah thanks for reading it im sure u'll do something abt this.
I cant seem to take it in any camera these defect (i have no DSLR lulz). :3
Buy a new battery and change it before it explodes.
