Ive found a posting to get the honeycomb unlock screen on cm7 based builds, and I am currently running pongsters cm7 build. But it says it over writes framework, so is this going to screw up my phone? Its not in the hd2 forum, and people are talking abour native android devices. And I dont want to screw up my phone. Any thoughts?

Shouldn't, but I would backup before you try it.

Thats is the post. I dont know enough to know changing something called framework would screw up my phone
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
probably won't, but it never hurts to do a backup before trying it. Got a link? I can try it on mine and report my results.
Edit: I'm running Typhoon CM7, which is a port from Bravo (desire I believe), whereas GBX is built from source for HD2, so some things may be different (although I doubt it).
Edit 2: just tried it, it didn't blow up my ROM. It kind of works I guess? I'm not sure what the original lockscreen looked like because I always used a lock pattern, but see screenshots. BTW there is a zip for HD2 LEO nightlies, so I'm going to try that next and post results.
Yeah it worked for me too, its not gbx, its the,cm7 pongster has released as well. Its not exactly like honeycomb, it just takes the rotary and changes it to look like honeycomb, I wanted the lock icon with circle, the drag in any direction.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
yeah that's what I thought the HC lockscreen was, so I wasn't sure what was going on with the lockscreen I was getting. Either way, isntalling via CWM sent me into a boot loop.
I downloaded metamorph and went that way, worked for me, but not exactly what I was hoping it was going to be, maybe, the discusion will get rolling, though. I hate slide, rotary is ok, I did the lock pattern but my gf complains she cant go through my phone to see if im messin around with other girls lol.
Not sure what it woulf take to do it. It looks like he had to use rotary, then just changed the png files so the "images" looked similar, but how it works probably takes a little tp build..

Also, what is THIS lock screen!? It's awesome and I love it!!!!!
Thanks in advanced guys and gals!!! Another thing i was looking for was those backgrounds with those sexy girls wearing headphones and it looks all artsy and ****. cant find the plain backgrounds anywhere....
Well the most important thing to know: a new build gets released every Friday form the Chinese team, then a English team ports it to EVO usually over the weekend for a weekend release. So every week there's a new build.
Latest _English_Port_ is 1.14 ... but 1.21 just got released today (revs are by date) BUT the Chinese team found a bug and is supposed to be releasing a patch tomorrow. The MIUI team responsible for porting the weekly builds apparently already ported the 1.21 but isn't posting it as a official build yet as they are waiting to see what the original dev team is releasing as a patch first.
I would say the current 1.14 is easily the most stable build, the new 1.21 coming out has some UI changes, so it could actually introduce bugs, but only time will tell. Honestly though MIUI has come a long long way.
I really like MIUI rom but not having multitouch on the gingerbread keyboard kills it for me. Hopefully they can get it working soon.

This 1.7 seemed to run the best for me with the included kernel 1.14 had a lot of reboots. I loved the UI and the built in extras like the traffic monitor and the blacklist options but found it too unstable for me. I went to evervolv 2.3a15 and love it so far. Gps doesnt track as well as miui but its an apples oranges comparison. Basically if you can get a stable daily driver miui going on your evo then enjoy olit. The thread in the general section has a lot of believers for sure.
so far 1.14 has been the most stable for me, but myself and many others have been experiencing a problem where whoever we are talking to hears an echo of their voice. The devs are gonna try to work that out for the next build which should be awesome. I'd wait till the final of 1.21 is released.

Okay, so after looking over MIUI and the themes and lockscreen mods I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY RREEAALLLLYY WANT IT!!!!!
But...there's just one problem...
After looking over the directions, and the HBOOT S-OFF thing, nothing seems certain. So many different sites and threads say that some this way doesn't work, this way breaks your 4G, and I can not for the life of my find out how to simply just get MIUI on my flipping Evo! To be honest, from everything I've looked up so far it looks like a ****ing death trap. No joke.
And whats up with partial English? From what I've seen things look like they're in English. How much is still in Chinese?
Is there anyone out there that can show me (or tell me) a very direct way and not an "iffy" way of flashing MIUI. I have Clockwork and I don't know how to check to see if I have S-OFF. I got my Evo 4G the day it came out, so does that mean the way I rooted it back then turned S-OFF for me?
I thought S-OFF was only for people who got the new OTAs and couldn't root their Evos.
I'm sorry but MIUI ust confused the HELL out of me and I'm so willing to take a leap of faith because I want it so bad, but bricking or messing up my Evo ust isnt worth it. Help anyone?
My whole ROM is in english. I'm using the current stable release and it's the best ROM I've used after UD.
The one thing I noticed is that my 3G speeds seem to be slower. I'm on wifi a lot so it isn't too big if a deal but still annoying.

Well, if you have flashed a custom recovery(Clockwork), then I think you must have s-off. The easiest way to check your s-off status is to turn your phone off, then reboot by holding down power+volume-down. The phone will boot into the h-boot screen. At the top will be several pieces of info including your s-off or s-on status. Make sure you do not have any custom roms or other .zip files in the main directory on your sd card before you do this as the hboot will try to flash it when it detects it.
The very first post in the general forum has a lot of really good info as well. Another excellent helpful resource is the IRC channel for the Evo. The link is in the post.
S-off just means security off, by the way. You can't flash custom roms or other stuff until you have s-off.

Wow. That cleared up quite a bit! I'm pretty sure I have a few custom ROMs in the main directory of my SD but when I flashed HBOOT it didn't automatically do/flash anything. I checked and I had S-OFF, I guess it was obvious.
So MIUIs flash ust lke any other ROM...?
comment to ur comment earlier- the most up-to-date "stable" rom is always going to be the that they have stickied.

yes they just flash like a normal rom. But since they do release an update almost weekly, it would be hard to do a complete wipe everytime and titatium back up everything. so miui already has a Miui Backup program in it that will make changing to the next release go smoothly without much of a hassle.
I flashed the MIUI ROM last night and my phone rebooted on its own like a handful of times when I was sleeping. I kept hearing the vibrate sound and seeing the white "HTC EVO 4G" screen like when you first turn on the phone. NOT happy!!
I had the same thing happen to me I love the rom but that's why I went back to my warm rom

Have z4 root and bootstrap installed on my girlfriends .340 phone. About to root, and make a back up. Then make our way towards rubix. I was wondering if there were any good back to stockmethods out there for if she decides she doesn't like the rom and we decide to try liberty 1.5.
The two best back to stock methods are to flash the maderstock340.zip through bootstrap recovery or to sbf the phone which is a little more complicated( you can find guides all over xda)....with that said if she doesnt like rubix you can just flash liberty you don't have to go back to stock.. just wipe system, data, cache and flash liberty rom....

Gotcha covered on this one in my thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940986
Just search in the 2nd post (I think) for SBF: "What is it, and what does it do?!?"
SBF: What is it, and what does it do?!?
Thanks man! Got the phone rooted, backed up all apps, and she freaked out bc she thinks were gonna brick her phone and because we couldn't find a theme that is pink enough, Crystal is too purple I guess.... Grr oh well, hopefully something will come out for rubix that she will like, I'd really love to get into this phone.

There are a few pink themes out there. I'm not sure if anyone has one for Rubix 1.9.7. I could try and port one for you, just with the understanding that you may not have support for it. I'll also have to check with the original theme creator to make sure he doesn't mind... But like I said, I wouldn't expect support for it unless he decides this would be a port he wants to carry forward...
Wow man, that is awesome. I've looked around. Pink life looked as close to acceptable as I've found... Crystal looks AWESOME to me, but the pink, she says, is too purple... And I thought I was picky when it came to my themes lol...
http://droidpirate.com/2010/09/22/theme-droid-x-pink-life-for-froyo-2-2/
would this work on rubix? It reads like it would, but I always like to ask first.
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/11/24/droid-x-theme-sinful-pink-by-jsinlegacy/
Also looks like she would like it, but it doesn't mention if it will work with the newest rubix.
If we come to an agreement with you doing some sort of a porting for us I would be more than willing to donate
Also in case of a fudge up, how do you boot into stock recovery on this thing? Or can't you? On the fascinate you can just boot into stock recovery and click update.zip and it will put you into cwr so you could restore a back up or reflash a .zip.

Alright, on from pink related issues.
Now I have the boot strap application, and rom manager on her phone. I flashed the clockwork recovery via rom manager, and have booted into recovery with the boot strap. Do I have to use this boot strap, or can I just use rom manager like I do on my fascinate?
Also, how do you boot into recovery if I were to fudge the phone up and not be able to get into the phone to boot through rom manager/boot strap. Very unlikely but you never know, ie boot loops.

Its more a matter of personal preference I.believe. If you are more familiar with Rom manager, then i would use that. I personally dont ise rom manager and just use droid x bootstrap for everything, but as I said, a matter of personal preference.
As for recovery plan. Pull the battery out and plug the phone into the wall charger. Put the battery back in and boot up the phone. Voila, bootstrap recovery.

Also getting no lock screen and launcher pro wont show in application drawer after successful install.

seems as if the search button isn't working correctly either
Ill be a dead man by the end of the night lol... I do have a back up, should I go back to that, then reflash? as a matter of fact I am restoring to stock then reflashing rom itself and see if I run into these issues with just the rom...

Ya I would revert to a backup. And where did you grab the pink life port? I can try and replicate the issues you are having.

Good luck

Continually blown away by the support over here, kinda makes me want a droid x, kinda... lol thanks again!
Edit.
Restored stock back up, re flashed rom, everything is aok right now. Making another backup, then going to re-flash the theme and see what happens...
Edit
Now power button won't power screen off, and when screen times out and power button is pressed, the lock screen doesn't come up, it just powers screen on unlocked... gonna try and work with it and see whats up, if it comes down to it we will just try a different theme
Looking like we got it all ironed out. She's still hesitant to say that I haven't ruined her phone lol, but I'm sure she's gonna love it after we get it all set up

If you find a different keyboard, as long as it is the same type (swype, gingerbread, or multitouch) then you should be able to replace it. Granted, it may not be a "flashable" replacement. If you find a replacement you like that isnt flashable, let me know and I can give you the step to replace it =)
Ps, what keyboard does she use? I'll see if I can find a pink one =)

i want the 2 buttons on my unlock screen for my epic instead of the default one where you have to drag the icon up to unlock. I have seen it on alot of peoples phones on here and wondering where i can find the rom or such to do it. I new to all this rom stuff so please hook a brother up if you know. thanks
Check in the Themes and Apps section for a compatible AOSP lockscreen. It'll depend on the ROM you are currently running.
Edit: You'll have better luck in the development section. Here is the one for EB13.
thanks im using the new midnight rom (bonsai)
man i hope its just a straight flash. I looks complicated if im reading it right. lol
The one you'd want should be a strait forward single file flash, you just need to find the one setup for your version of that rom.

Hey there, I'm new to XDA and am sorry if I break the rules! Don't hurt me!
I'm a straight up noob when it comes to this stuff. So please understand when I'm asking the dumbest things. I've been crawling all over XDA for answers. Maybe I'm not looking correctly.
Anyways, I'm running on the MT4G with Zips Creamed Glacier V3.11 and I've got a bunch of questions and problems.
One of the problems is that I cannot make changes to my notifications tone and calling ringtones! When I try to open them up under settings, it crashes.
The other problem has to do with the trackpad. For hours I thought it would not work, there was a cursor (much like using the trackpad on those old blackberrys) that would not open anything up when clicking it. Then I found that it would click something if I pressed the trackpad while moving it at the same time. Can anyone help me with this or explain it?
If possible, I'd like to revert back to the way it used to be before the cursor added, is there a way to edit/customize the rom? If so, where can I find out about this?
Sorry and thanks in advance! I'm just thoroughly confused
Not sure about the notifications. Probably in the ROM thread. But the trackpad, that's all ICS. No way to remove it, that I know of.
Hello G_O_P,
Zip ICS ROM is currently in beta.
It means you may get some issues.
I'm sure trackpad is not a priority since you have a workaround (use the screen). You can probably report your other issues in dev thread with as much detail as possible to help Zipnet.
If you still have the previous version, you can wipe and flash it to go back. You can try another ICS ROM too.
But, you must know that every ICS ROM are currently in heavy dev. If you absolutely need something without any issues, more back to gingerbread (CyanogenMod or a Sense ROM)

I know this is available in the GB ROMs, but I haven't been able to get it to work on my Glacier with I2IEAILiiTY's edit of CreamedGlacier and IceColdSandwich. I found out from one of the threads that the home button will wake the device (it works on mine). I'm sure it will be in there eventually.
Nice! The home button turns on mine too, thanks for the tip. I'm using IceColdSandwich right now but will probably switch to zips creamed glacier on the next release.
Thanks for your inputs.
And of course in no way am I complaining, I'd love to post in Zips ICS thread, but I can't because I haven't exceeded my ten posts yet.
I'm going to be checking out the other ROMS and play around with them and will check out Zips release when its out!
Thanks again!
If anything, I recommend reverting back to CM7 (TDJ's 7.2 kang is my personal favorite), and then equipping an ICS theme. You get the look of ICS with the stability of Gingerbread.
To get everything looking like ICS, I recommend you download and equip both Kovdev's ADW ICS theme and Sonny Sekhon's ICS CM7 theme from the Play Store (I hate that new name ). I'm sticking to Gingerbread until the devs iron out all the kinks, which I'm sure they will do soon enough.

So whats the game plan? I've used most of those roms you've ported on my nexus before. Do you want to pick one and we can work together to get it running sweet on the hero.
I noticed that you're having having problems with the size of the task switcher windows in a few of your roms. You might want to check out the web os mods like this http://rootzwiki.com/topic/19142-mod-port-webcm9-04-webos-like-app-switcher-3912-cm9aokp/ . It should have only the code relating to the task switcher. I'm wondering if it's trying to use a too high a resolution for the hero.

i would say the biggest gameplan right now at the moment is aroma. with aroma we can make all devices work off one rom, which is a huge goal of mine, to bring all the roms i've ported to all the other older htc devices like the eris, g1, and hero.
im down for any kind of collaboration you would like. thanks for the tip about the webos task switcher, im taking a look at it right now and if it works ill throw it in all my ics roms and give you credit.
have anything particular in mind for more collaboration? we can only run so sweet lol until our edge is met, and that edge is hardware acceleration.
edit: im not having luck yet with the webos task switcher, ill keep looking at it
I just used aroma for the first time a couple of days ago on my evo 4g and I will never go near it again. I was flashing decks reloaded and it comes with aroma. I booted to twrp did my usual wipe everything 5 times. I started to flash the rom, aroma launched asked me what options I wanted, It flashed and said successful. I rebooted and it booted to the splash screen for about 10 secs vibrated rebooted to the splash screen, this repeats endlessly.
Now heres where it really screwed me. I can get to the bootloader and recovery, but aroma killed my USB connectivity and my access to my SD card. This has been reported as happening on Evo 4g's before( only when they first came out). The way to fix it is to enter some commands on a terminal emulator on the phone when its booted up. Or flash a radio update through bootloader (didnt work) Because aroma borked my rom install I can't boot into my rom or flash another because of my lack of SD card access and no ADB. My only option left is to flash a factory unrooted and locked factory image via a pc36img through the bootloader. Thats for a day when I'm feeling brave, If this persists through relocking and unrooting that phone is done.
I've flashed hundreds of roms, and rooted, unrooted and down some downright dangerous **** on my G1. I've never bricked a device before, bootloops, and borked recoveries sure. Aroma is dangerous, and I personally will never use it again.
I think the key is too slim down ICS as much as possible. Most of those Roms you ported are pretty fat( at least on my Nexus). Prolly taking cm9 and stripping it might be the best bet. Sometime this week end I'll download and start screwing around with one of them.
If you can find a Jellybean rom to port that might be where its really at. Project butter makes my Nexus crazy fast! I don't get any of the slow downs that I did in ICS.

wow i guess if i upgrade to an evo 4g like i planned i'll avoid aroma like the plague.
i've been working on slimming down my ics roms, i already have miui 4.0.4 slimmed down about as far as its gonna go without resizing pngs and such since im no good at that. i have an aokpwfs38 slim down ready also, i just havnt had the chance to post it.
if you would like, i need eligorom and cm9 slimmed, feel free to do that if you want.
also check out shelnutt's jb port. its pretty nice, a huge improvement over ics even on the heroc.
Would anyone be willing to swap my htc hero gsm for a htc hero cdma?
I'll join. I used to be a dev on SDX for the moment and the intercept. I've ported joyos 1.2.2 currently to the heroc.
