Hi Everyone. First off I'd like to thank everyone that participates here for all of the valuable information. I am a new Android user and the information I have found here has been the best
I have a problem and I was wondering if it was me or if maybe it is a known issue. I have perm rooted my phone (thanks to bcnice's info!) and installed ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.1.4. I noticed if I turn my phone off and connect it to the charger it will boot into CwM each time and stop charging (the LED goes out). If i select "power off" from within the recovery menu it will turn off (the LED comes back on) but then it will boot right back into clockwork and the LED turns off again. Is this normal? Should I reflash clockwork? I guess it isnt the end of the world but it is a little annoying.
Thanks!
I believe it any issue with everyone on the shift right now.

I've rooted my Droid X with Z4 and made a nandroid backup.
I then installed ApeX 1.30 and everything works great.
The issue is - when I take my phone off it's charger each morning and turn the phone on it boots into Clockwork Recovery - every single day and I must manually press the camera button to select "reboot now" - then all is well.
It ONLY does this when it's on the wall charger - not during regular reboots or on/off cycles.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Droid X Bootstrap Recovery - tried battery pulls - tried combos of the above. Tried just launching Bootstrap recovery - then turned the phone off and did a battery pull. Same old thing - every time the phone comes off the charger and its turned on - it goes straight to Clockwork Recovery and I have to manually select reboot - then all is well.
It's not a show stopping issue - but it's just annoying enough that I'd like to get it fixed.
Any tips/suggestions/hints would help. I've searched and can't seem to find an answer that works. Thanks in advance!
My only advise, learn to love it. Seriously. It happens to me as well but, its a small price to pay to have recovery. If you're ever in a bootloop it will be great!!!

It's not a bug, it's a feature. (seriously)
It is a valuable feature. When you turn off your X and put it on the charger the phone boots to the charging screen not the OS. The recovery looks at this like an unsuccessful OS boot and on the next boot it activates the recovery.

He is totally right, I wish my DX did that.
Here's a fix for this minor annoyance, open bootstrap app, click bootstrap recovery, then ok on the pop up and voila, no more booting into clockwork.
And if you get stuck in a bootloop there's no guarantee it will boot into clockwork whether you have it to or not. Always run through troubleshoot options...battery pull, stock recovery, update zip, and finally SBF.
That's actually a very good thing. Don't get mad at it
Mine is doing the same thing even when its not on a charger. Every day I m in recovery mode. Im trying to fix it on a defferent thread not having much luck. Using root explorer to fix the issue but no luck. Im only rooted and do not have bootstrapper installed. My thread is a few above this one. Now I know that's its not a big issue but I still don't want it.

I had helped another guy who posted in here (spacecase) and I got his problem resolved. As everyone else in here has said...the fact that it always boots into recovery is great! If you TRULY want to get rid of it... Follow my instructions in the thread I have a link to above.

Hi guys, sorry if it is a stupid question, but am I okay to flash the stock recovery while I'm running cm7?
My battery life is horrible so I just want to try the work around that involves charging while the phone is off and we know cwm recovery doesn't work like that right now.
I would flash back to cwm 3 afterwards.

Here's a link to one of TrueBlue_Drew's =bazillion= answers to this question. His method allows you to have two versions of CW Recovery available via the Rom Manager. Since the Rom Manager does not support CW Recovery 3.x, that version is stored as "2.5.1.4". With CW 3, ROM Manager is used only for going back and forth between CW 2 and 3.
Hope this helps.

I've actually talked to TrueBlue and I came up with the idea of making the oemrecovery and renaming it, recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.1. He is supposed to be updating his guide here shortly but I just spoke with him regarding this last night.
Basically, download the oemrecovery, go to the clockwork folder on your sdcard and go clockworkmod>download>koush.tandgaming.com>recoveries. Drop the oemrecovery into that spot on the sdcard and rename it EXACTLY recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.1. Once that's done you can now go into rommanager scroll down to all clockworkmod recoveries and choose 2.5.1.1. That is now your stock recovery. you can reboot into the stock recovery, and keep the phone off to charge it. Once done, reboot the phone, go back to rommanager and click 2.5.1.4 and that will give you cwm3.xxx back. If this helps you, please hit the thanks button!
Thanks. Sorry for posting in the wrong section.
I'm aware I can flash back to 2.5.1.2, but for some reason I recall that this also went into recovery when charged. I'm probably wrong about that though .
amac, that sounds like a very elegant solution. I'll have too give that a shot.
I was really mostly concerned that not having 3.x would somehow affect the cm7 installation. But im guessing it should not and only affects ability to flash the rom.
Thanks again all. And for bearing with my ignorance!
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Well i just checked, and 2.5.1.2 still turns on the phone when charging while powered off.
I've looked around but can't find it, is there a flashable stock recovery for the MT4G somewhere? I know there's an image posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843289 but this one isn't flashable. But i guess i could still manage if there isn't one out there.
Thanks again everyone.
use the oemrecovery file found on page 118 of the cm6 thread. It was posted by phateless. Sorry I would link it but the xda app doesn't let you do that.

Rooted MyTouch 4G goes into recovery when I put it on charger from wall plug. The recovery # is 2.5.1.2. It goes into recovery when the phone is shut off and plugged in to charge battery. When it is turned on and charging it operates normal. Could this be from some app I downloaded?
HELP PLEASE

I was just going over this in another thread and someone said that enabling fastboot keeps it from going into recovery when turning off while charging...haven't tried it yet though but makes sense I guess.
fingers crossed..
i also read on another post where someone reinstalled clockwork in rom manager and got it to stop booting into recovery like that. one poster said it took him multiple times of reinstalling it before it finally stopped....i'm going to try this also if the fastboot solution doesn't work.
i'll post back if I confirm any of these work.

ok so haven't determined which setting exactly worked. it may have been a combination but I reflashed clockwork recovery in ROM manager , enabled fast boot, and turned on USB debugging and my phone did NOT boot into recovery after I turned it off while plugged in. charged all night off.

Same thing with my phone... I tried reflashing CWM3 and it didn't solve the problem. Turning on fast boot did however.
Just sucks because I don't want fast boot on, but I prefer charging my phone with the power off... so I guess I'll deal with it until the problem is fixed =\

I rooted my nook, downloaded rom manager, flashed cwm and did a nandroid back up. Now I'm stuck on the cwm revovery and cant reboot, volume rockers wont do anything, home button wont do anything or power button. Its just stuck on the black and orange recovery and wont reboot or anything. On my evo 4g I would do a battery pull and go back in to revovery but I can't do that with the nook. Any suggestions? Please!!! My wife will hang me alive. Thanks in advance.
Dave
Well I got it to power down...... now I can't get it to power back up?????
OK now everytime I hit rebbot system it goes right back to recovery. Can I just download a rom and flash it? That makes most sense to me.... and I want to go cm7 but dont understand this whole dual boot feature on the nook
check this out, it may help.

yeah, the nice thing about the nook is that it's (knock on wood) pretty much unbrickable... just flash an image onto your sdcard and boot it from there (it tries to read the sdcard first from my understanding) to fix issues...
Ohhh. That's awesome news because I have a brick right now. I've gotten into some sticky situations with my evo but always pulled out smelling like roses. I just don't know the Nook at all right now. Ill have cm7 on it by tonight. Im pretty stubborn. Lol

I am running ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.0
I'm running cyanogenmod 7.2 and I wasn't really trying to do anything. Just checking the options in recovery mode because I am preparing to sell this phone.
But now I can't get out of recovery. If I select reboot now I just get the clockwordmod recovery logo and it just sits there. Same thing if I select turn phone off.
Has this ever happened to anyone before?! Please help.
Again I wasn't trying to flash anything...change anything...really do anything. And I've been running CM7 for quite a while without issue so not sure why this is happening now.
Any help much appreciated!
Yes I do have a nandroid but it isn't very current so I'd prefer not to use it (not sure it would work anyway) if I don't have to.
Thanks in advance!

Yeah I guess I was worried that would completely brick the phone but it actually did the trick. Thanks.
Still curious what I can do to prevent this from happening in the future...as I would like to sell a fully functioning stable phone.
Thanks though and sorry for the panic post!
