Hi all,
When I use the Sense Music player on my ROM playback starts and everything is fine. But after 2:xx Minutes It just stops. I may hit the play button as often as I want to, but playback does not restart. Only way is pressing forward or backward (< / >) but I have the same problem with the next track.
I searched a lot, some said this is due to broken MP3-Tags which I am sure is not the case with my files. Others say it's a specific version of the HTC audio Manager but other ROMs with "my" version are fine.
Here are some details of the ROM:
Device: SE Xperia X1
SYS: Build 29007
Manila: 2.5.2022 (from OBOE)
Music Tab: 2.5.2017 (also tried 2.5.1922 - same thing)
HTC audio manager: 1.7 (Audio_Manager_Engine_2_0_20113121_h)
What could be the cause of that problem? Anyone had similar issues?
Thanks for your help already!
EDIT: it's on SYS Build 29007
It might be an issue with SYS. I have had issues with audio manager before, and they went away by changing SYS.
I was planning to move to 29017 soon anyway so I'm going to know that.
Do you have any idea what SYS package could be causing this? As there are other Sense 2.5 ROMs using this build...
EDIT: just noticed that I did not mention my current sys build at the first post. i am having those problems on Build 29007.
Hi,
What you can try.
Make a backup of your storage card and format it.
Maybe some mp3 files or tags are corrupted.
I remember some users of my roms complaining about it.
I did some testing and as it turns out this indeed seems to be related to "bad" MP3 ID Tags. So now I just need to figure out what is "bad". This suckz bad as any other player will play those files correctly...
I will keep you posted.
There used to be similar problems to this effect with WinMo 6.0/6.1 and TFlo2D that I used to cook with for older devices (Wizard). It had something to do with power management registry settings relating to the SD. If power management for SD card/slot was enabled/disabled and music was playing from the SD card, it would stop (just as you describe with your symptoms). Check forums for registry setting for power management settings (or can use Schapps Advanced Configuration Tool as this has the various setting)
Check this thread (although for CorePlayer) ....maybe similar issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585376
I'm using this software to tag mp3's:
http://www.id3-tagit.de/
If you could figure out which mp3 is causing it you could study the tag and probably find the cause.

I am absolutly sure this is related to MP3 Tags. Playback stops even when the device is charged. And some MP3's (that are "good") play perfectly while other just wont under the sam circumstances.
Thanks anyway!

I will look deeper into that, thanks.
I played around with the MP3 Tags for a while now and I have to make two conclusions:
1) They are causing The HTC Sense/Manlia music player to stop playback all the time!
2) I am not going to change all my MP3 Tags of all 4.000-something MP3s. It's just not worth ist
If anyone else wants to solve this problem the tools to fix it are above. I'll just stick with MortPlayer.
Thanks @all for your help anyway!

Awesome, thanks!
A few questions:
What effect will the TomTom Audio Fix have without TomTom being installed?
What does the HTC Network Plugin do?
Why do I need the ATI D3D driver?
Can I not enable some of the reg changes you've made? WakeUp on SMS seems very useful for me, but not the BT discoverable timeout or the sound amp boost.
Thanks
tomtom audio fix will just have a shortcut, but dont click it if you have not got tomtom installed.
the network plugin lets you connect to shared folders on your pc so u can stream audio and video files or just access any other files.
the ati d3d driver is a better hardware acceleration driver and considerably improves video playpack and graphics speed and smoothness in general.
some of the registry changes you cant alter from the user interface but the bluetooth timeout option you can change back in the bluetooth settings.

My gps stopped working after I installed this and I had to hard reset to get it working again. Anyone else have this problem?
thats strange, mine still works fine, but if anyone else has the same problem, ill look into it.

nevermind I have been having issues in general so I don't think its the program
Can I ask if the TomTom audio fix fixes the issue I have which is the TomTom sounds don't come through my bluetooth handsfree kit ?
it might well fix that issue you are having, not tested it with a headset but feel free to try.
How can I get the HTC task manager with big buttons back ? Thanks.

Should work just fine.
I had to hard reset because of a black screen. Windows doesn't want to start.
everyone please give me your input on this, if you have tried it, let me know on improvements, as you may already know, TD2 Tools is in development and will eventually replace the custom settings application currently included in this customization pack.
Your imput and ideas will be greatly appreciated and anyone that can help out with some source code would be a real credit to the development process.

Had a look at the audio files provided in a different thread on XDA. Users claimed it worked just fine. But do mind that there are differences between the original files and the "tweaked" files floating around.
There are some headsets missing in this tweaked files. Just so you know.

Try the following:
Search your music database for a folder with write protection enabled. Disable this write protection and see if this fixes issue.
Manila player needs write permissions to these audio folders, because manila puts a hidden cover art file in each audio folder: hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg
Hope this helps...
Solution from vBoedefeld
same issue for me too.
this solution did not work
Hmmm. Okay, what can we do alternatively?
Anybody here to help us?
I think this bug is because of the writing protection which can not be disabled for an unknown reason!
Was doing some fiddling last night (as mentioned in another thread) and it, for me at least, appeared to be a problem with the program a mp3 was compressed with.
All my lame mp3s work fine but as soon as I copy one which dbpoweramp says was compressed with FHG all mp3s stop after a few seconds.
thanks!

Hi all,
Long time lurker, first time poster. Firstly, thank you to everyone for such an informative forum, I have learnt a lot from so many of you!
Now, on to my question/problem:
I would like to have my albums (MP3 format) which are stored on my SD card to be available in the Music section of Touch-Flo, but I cannot work out how to do this. I have installed Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3, and modified the default location for audio files, but when I acces the Music section of the Touch-Flo menu, I still only see the two default songs. I can access the file through Windows Media Player no problem, but it would be good, and easier, to access them through Touch-Flo.
Some information on my phone: HTC Diamond 2, standard ROM, WM6.1 (no modifcations).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

Manila should see all of your songs on your storage card.
Do you have them several folders deep or?
You may try reinserting your SD card and see if it brings the songs in.

Thanks for the reply.
I have several files on there (as well as rintones in MP3 format), and it still only sees the 2 default songs, even after re-inserting the card.
The directory structure is:
\Storage Card\Music\Album Name\Filename.mp3
\Storage Card\Ringtones\Filename.mp3
Thanks again!
Hi. It should normally appear in the audio section of TF3D. Try to click on "library" and then "playlists" (maybe there is a different expression of it in english, dunno .. I have a language localization of my country) then try to add new playlist and your songs should appear. Hope it helped.
I had this happen when the SD card wasnt being recognised, have you tried another SD card?
How many MP3 files you have? Try to reduce them.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I have solved the issue, and thought I would post back here for anyone else having the same problem.
vikicek: unfortunatley, this didn't help. I could access the files through the library, but not through TouchFlo.
mlk: the card is fine, as it works in other devices
rspillo: At the time of testing, there were only 3 mp3 files on the card.
After trying a lot of different things, a hard reset, and a rom upgrade has fixed the problem. I was also unable to Sync with any of my PCs, so I suspect there was something fishy going on inside my standard rom.
Thanks again for all your help! Very much appreciated!
Glad to hear all is now fixed, so gently back to lurking you go!

finally i got the solution..
its the mega audio manager that act madly..
i just change that to IOLITE stuff and i got the dream rom..
happy days
mmmm
try to recmod the media modules...
if not works... there is a skiping fix for WMP around, in a cab
but before that i have no problem..
this things r come in to reality by 23563 and higher build????
i dont know.. i dislike to use manilla in my roms worst the mega manilla is huge for my poor hermes... but nobodys has this issue at least one manilla user say so... too
If you're going to try out different modules, don't re-cook the rom, just convert them to files and add them to your windows folder with total commander and soft reset. It's a lot easier to de-bug things that way, and less frustrating than re-cooking/re-flashing, and still having the same issue.
But, I'd just follow Q's advice and send manila to the recycle bin.
but all u know guys that even i m consistently build rom without manilla people from htc elf demanding more and more manila flavour
so i have to..
Music Tab Problem! SYS Related? [CHEFS PLEASE HELP!!!]
Hi, Ive just finished my rom build and I have noticed a problem I am having with the music tab, Im not sure if its due to that amount of music I have loaded on my sd card or not but I never noticed it before, I have however just updated to the 23568 SYS but that cant be the problem as SYS has nothing to do with the manila music package.
When the rom loads for the first time after flashing, if you go onto the music controls, it scrolls through all the songs super quick until it gettings down to the song name furthest down the alphabet, and then pressing play does nothing what so ever. And so if you then go into the library and pick a song from an album, again it will zo down to the last song in that album.
I have tried using the manila music package from 2.10 and 2.11 (even though they are the same) and I have disabled the taskbar which I was having problems with in terms of not displaying a speak icon in the taskbar, then it loosing the htc volume control, but still it does this glitch. I switched back to an old taskbar I was using and that made no difference either so it must be something new, I am now cooking with the backup kitchen I made yesterday which still has a 23566 SYS just to see...
EDIT: I have just cooked it with and without the 23568 SYS, with it I had the music problem, so I am assuming they are related
Has anyone run into this problem before? is it an easy fix? I did some searching but nothing turned up
Thanks in advance

but now nothing happen even with disabling mlu service or <mul service > ithink

This iussues it's related to audiomanager from mega, it's happen when you try to cook a rom with manila including this version of audiomanager.
Hi guys,
Been using the stock ROM for a while now as I could not find a stable cook release, just decided to do a little more experimenting and am unfortunatly finding the same thing. After trying out a few of the ROM's the most stable all rounder and constantly up-to-date ROM seems to be that from Sternas.
However the music player in this ROM is completely unusable for me, it crashes within seconds of playing the music and will not successfully update the sence music player library. I have tried several music players and I still prefer the sense default due to its tight integration and compatability with CHT and such.
I have tried the cab floating about on the forum that updates the library as soon as the phone is switched on and I have also tried enabling SD card caching in Artemis Center.
I have also done my very best to search to see if there is an answer to this problem, and whilst I can find people with the same problem I cannot find a solution. I have also tried posting in the topic thread but its moving at a crazy pace, and questions get buried far too quickly to be answered. So hopefully I can find an answer here.
it seems that the latest build of AudioManager is extremely buggy. I have tried 3 different roms and none of the standard registry edits fix the issue
Is it possible to manually revert back to an older version, or is there a version of Artemis you would suggest that doesnt have this issue? (or any other )

Oh my...
This thread has been closed and re-opened and I just wanted to make the intentions of the thread clear.
I am trying to find a ROM to use and am interested int he Artemis ROM, however after testing it I found this bug in the music player, I then asked to see if there was a solution to this bug in the ROM thread (the 'correct' place to ask)
here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ostcount=14093
and here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ostcount=14110
But as you can see the question got buried so quickly that no-one was able to help out. In a situation like this where is is close to impossible for me to ask the communtiy for help due to the pace of the topic I felt there was no other option but to create a new topic with my question.
I have been over all of this with the mod and he can see the problem and has subsequently allowed for this topic to be opened again.
So, hopefully somone can help

Hello mega maniac What version or artemis is it that you have used? and what language version. What is your radio? and hspl or sspl? I have been using artemis roms since version 9 and have never encountered any problems with the music player. Im currently on artemis v22b and my music library loads instantly and the player never crashes( i use it every day at work). Maybe a simple task 29, then upgrade artemis rom will sort this problem for you.

Hi,
I felt fairly dejected after trying to solve this problem and getting absolutely no-where, as such I ended up using the Energy ROM series which have their own bugs it seems, just not ones that stop me using the phone as much as this music player bug. I'm re-flashing today and have tried the Artemis ROM again but the same bug is there, if I play the music it will freeze after a few seconds without fail. I'm now trying out Dutty's ROM but for your information and hopefully to help out others here is the information you asked for
I am using the very latest version of Artemis V.23.0
Radio: I tried several radios with the Artemis ROM, all of which presented the same problem I also tried it with the recommended 2.07.51.22_2 . The Radio I am now using is 2.11.50.26
HSPL - SPL 1.42.HSPL (doesnt mean much to me, but thats what shows when i turn on with vol down) for the record this is the only thing that I havn't gone out of my way to update to the recommended HSPL in the Artemis thread. I'm not sure if the HSPL version is capable of creating a bug in the music tab but it seems to be the only thing that I am doing differently.
p.s. I really am not sure what a task29 is
edit: just finished installing Dutty's HG v4.4 and it has the same problem, although I never had this problem with the Energy ROM series i'm clearly missing something.

They were more ones that related to personal usage. After installing the new HTC messaging client the messages somtimes would not show up, also the lockscreen would send you to the wrong messaging client. I would also have to reset the phone because of complete lockups more often than normal.
Been the best ROM I have tried so far however, so I'm not knocking it

I've never come across any bugs with the EnergyROM series, of course sometimes NRG does a dodgy upload but it's usually down within a couple of hours to rectify and re upload. Not that I've ever downloaded a duff one.

I think as soon as the new HTC messaging client is used by default in the Energy ROM's I'll probably be switching back. I message ALOT and the default client in the Energy series just doesnt work as smoothly as the new HTC one.
Just task 29'd and re-installed dutty's ROM, same problem. may have to go back to stock and then upgrade my HSLP, pain in the boom boom.
Same thing here, music stops after a few seconds and music player in landscape will give me a 'no music found' error.
I can see my music in the all songs tab, but in the albums tab I see none.
I tried 3 different ROMs Artemis, energy and for now Cleanex, all with the same error.
I tried formatting the SD-card (16GB) and sync all my songs with WMP, this did the trick for about 5 minutes
Really frustrating because music player is the app I use the most.

his newest ROMs are using the newest sense (2016) which seems to be causing freezeups. Lots of complaining going on in his thread.
Seems the newest audio manager is causing the music player problems so nrgz already reverted back to a previous one.
Now if we could just get sense to play nice....
