I feel that the developer of LP is more in tune with the needs of the user. Updates occur very frequently.
LauncherPro all the way
adw. hidden dock is awesome
Launcher Pro no question. Very smooth, HIGHLY customizable... and dock notifications??? are you kidding me???? http://www.launcherpro.com/
Launcher Pro for me.
I like that I can backup and restore the settings now if I change from ROM to ROM.
LP dock notifications seal the deal for me. ADW is great though but started to get choppy on my phone.

I prefer ADW, I like the side scrolling of the apps. To me it felt faster than LP.
LP is the best =p it's just incredibly customizable and the dev is constantly making new releases. Looking at the changelog you can see there are new releases lately every three days or so and they're not small ones.
I love them both! ADW also had the faeture to be able to save settings and desktops first. It also has setting to change what swiping down and up do, which is awesome. But the 3d Drawer in LP is incredible....If only they could combine to ADWPro.......Umm there offspring would rule

Word......
ADW was the one for me until the last few updates to LPro.
Keys to Lpro for me:
Ability to hide the notifi bar and unhide by selecting the home button. (I know you can do this in ADW also with the swype)
Locking wallpaper on Lpro. I like that my widgets just slide over
Phone and sms counters in dock
Scrolling dock
I do kinda miss the ability to hide app names in the drawer using ADW though, that's slick.
honestly both the prgrams work awesome its all about prefrence. they both have real good options and its just something you have to see and weigh out for yourself.
It's LP for me all the way! just like they said before...the dev is always updating to the users needs
Shouldnt be posted in the dev forum. I think theres already a topic in another Droid Eris sub forum.
Thanks

ADW for me. They're pretty even, but I don't like the look of LauncherPro. I prefer a little color on my launcher. I also prefer how highly customizable ADW is. Plus, the scrolling dockbar is the jam.
How did you get lwp working

Color? If you are referring about the dock, that's what i thought too at first. But you can actually change it in Launcher Pro too. And speaking of highly customizable, I can make my Launcher Pro look like ADW, if I want to.

Seriously. The gmail/missed call/sms notification in the dock makes it a no-brainer.
So which of these launchers would u guys use? I'm using lpp atm and I'm thinking of buying adw.. But I would also like similar widgets to lpp like facebook, calender, bookmarks etc so if u guys know any alternatives to those please let me know
Lol all adw ex has is fancy transitions, and iphoney icon settings, pshhh and other not so awesome extra drawer settings. Still no support for custom docks like lpp, so nope for me. And lpp is faster and more easier to use, and a major app rewrite coming this month, which im waiting for.
Although adw ex is still worth buying, I just don't see the features that makes it worth that much. I would still use it, but at the end of the day for me, lpp wins.

This is the reason why lpp rocks
I think you better google and you find boat apps and not pay for any...i use boat and adw ex rocks but its lil slower and big minus is ...no widgets like llp!
Maybe I halp!
I prefer LPP im using adw ex at the moment
I use LauncherPro (Plus) and I tried ADWLauncher EX for some days. I think ADW tries to make too many things, so it's too "big", too many options. I almost go crazy.
ADW has lots of themes, and that's cool, but at least for me, LauncherPRO makes what it has to, and smoother.
But you should try it anyway! (But paying for just try... with 15 minutes market now... :S)
Using ADW EX on my Desire (with LeeDroid latest ROM) and it flies
Tried LP on my wifes wildfire a while back and it was very smooth too
Try both, they each have pros and cons.
Been using ADWEX and like the way you customise it but I have stopped using it because ADWnotifier does not work on my Wildfire. Tried endlessy but it just does not want to work. Lpp is good but prefer ADW if the notifier worked I would use it.
adw rocks. I've removed the nexus type dots and got 5 apps on bottom. Also changed the apps drawer to horizontal swipe . I liked launcher pro but ADW is so customisable.
Man i wish LPP and ADW made out and had a baby. Custom docks and the speed from LPP + the transitions and extra stuff from ADW would be win. , trying ADW ex atm and the only complaint i have is the lagginess when scrolling across the homescreens and also it's a bit difficult to resize the widgets haha.

Do you ADWnotifier ? does it work on your wildfire?
Yes it does, make sure you set the app it shows notification bubbles for in the adwnotifier settings, I'm using handcent and youlu.

Hi Kevin thanks for that , followed your instructions but still not showing notification .Must be doing something wrong because I dont even see then with LLP.
Saying all that ADW notifier is kinda working but instead of showing a number in the bubble theres a ? in the bubble , also what ever color I choose for the bubble it always turns up red .
Any ideas?
If u havent tried it, go get it! The best. Grab it in the market for free.

Go sms pro is pretty phat too.
I think it's hands down the best launcher out there. The Honeycomb theme is awesome with it.
Very nice!

I loved the launcher, but ended up trying out others for a second time when they were already bundled with ROMs. Also, as far as I know, GO Launcher EX doesn't allow for higher grid settings on homescreens, which is absolutely essential to my current setup. If this has changed, I will surely go back, as I loved how smooth it was and how much customization there was elsewhere in it!
Also, I second GO SMS Pro (was just GO SMS, just added features in Pro, like the long-awaited, at least for me, support to check drafts! and is still free).
They update a lot, and not in a bad way. They're usually adding more and more features. Ever since I found out about the GO Dev Team when actually looking to use Handcent or Chomp SMS, I've loved 'em.
I just hate using free launchers cause I have ones I paid for. :-/

That's kind of how I feel, too.
Go Launcher EX is the business. I think so many people are loyal to ADW and Launcher Pro though(why, I can't figure out). I'll bet you that most folks who have tried all three will tell you that Go Launcher EX is superior. The fact that it's free alone sets it apart. And the regular updates are a nice plus too... If you haven't tried it I suggest you do. Then come back here and give an honest opinion of it.
I tried it but can't remember what it was that turned me away. I admit, it has been a little bit so I'm sure it's better.
Does it have it's own widgets. gesture swipes, resizable widget option, able to change app icons on your homescreens, ability to choose any dock you want? These are some of the things I love on ADW ex/ LPP.
It may very well have some of these things now, it has been a bit. I'm on a Sense kick right now, but I'll give it another look.
I love go launcher but I need to reload the icons when I come out of the browser our youtube.

I wouldn't go as far as saying go launcher is superior that's a little much eh? Its good but its not great. I've used almost every launcher out there for more than a weeks at a time each and I always come back to adwEX.
I'm interested to see what this complete rewrite of Launcher Pro...whenever it happens....will bring to the table.

The answer is YES to all of your inquiries, execpt for the 1st one(it's own widgets).. Atleast, I dont think it has it's own widgets, but it has so many add-ons, so there might be one. But YES, it has gesture swipes, you can resize the widgets, app icons can be changed on the desktop and in the dock, you can change your dock, the dock is scrollable and supports up to 15 apps, etc...

The main reason I called it superior is because it's FREE.. and the other two that are comparable are not(ADW EX and LP+). Of course once you put price aside, the opinions are gonna vary as to which launcher is better. To me the 3 are very comparable though.

Same here. I'm a LP user 100% of the way. ADW has a lot of flash but poorly designed, Go Launcher is actually okay but performance isn't all that great. LP is very well designed and very fast. Can't wait for the rewrite.

Yeah I'd hate to not use ADW EX simply because I paid like $3 for it
Only thing that's pissing me off is adwEX hasn't been updated since beginning of January. I hope anderwebs is cooking up some hot features, buts I've purchased adwex, launcher pro plus, and launcher 7. I like to switch back and forth. Go launcher being free simply doesn't make it superior; what's 3 bucks when you can buy 2 launchers for the price of one Burger king combo lol. I bought them to try them all and go launcher simply isn't that impressive. You need to try some paid launchers man I bet you won't find yourself saying that anymore.

They added the feature but the max is 5x5, combine that with the fact it does not support shuttered dpi and I have to say LPP is still my favorite.
It's cool and neat but far from owning the competition at this point.
I have Launcher Pro plus, ADW Ex. I've always liked ADW Ex better because -
- lockable screens. Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally moved stuff or even dropped and deleted (or had a friend do that while looking at my phone)
- performance especially with the homescreen transitions
- easily edit and resize icons/shortcuts
- I have Pure calendar and Beautiful weather widgets, so I don't really miss LP widgets.
- got tired of waiting for the "re-write" (not a criticism - I just itch for new stuff)
Go Launcher
Pros
- Matches everything ADW Ex does
- Unread Notifications even on the dock (not on ADW, even with notifier)
- Much easier to manipulate entire screens
- discovered go sms - it's gorgeous!
Cons
- Haven't seen a "lock" feature yet. Need to explore.
- Performance doesn't have the same "snap" to it as ADW Ex, but I need to explore and tweak that a little more
Pretty pleased with Go Launcher Ex so far, I'll use it for a while and check.
Title says it all... Is anyone using LPP on their Gal Tab 10.1? Hows it working out for you?
I did it worked great. I used it with beautiful widgets and better cut.
had it working but goes into f/c all the time so took it out.
i've used it on the xoom with no probs. have it running on a transformer and on the gt10.1 and haven't had any fc's. works great to me.
Didn't try launcher pro, but in using adw launcher ex since someone on this forum mentioned it this morning.
Hate to admit, I didn't even bother looking into it before since I didn't think they would support honeycomb. Soooo much faster than stock.. stock honeycomb needs to be this quick flying through home screens or I'm never going back.
Anyone else use ADW? Major differences vs launcher pro in honeycomb? I've used all of the launchers on my phones before.

I entered the same search string. There are a lot of matches, but "ADWLauncher EX" from AnderWeb was the very first one in the list, which is what you are looking for.
What I like about the Honeycomb launcher is how it keeps the icon spacing perfect regardless of which orientation the tablet is in. The Android 2.x based launchers mess up the spacing when you rotate the screen.
Are there any launchers that do a similar job with the icon spacing that the Honeycomb launcher does?

Used LPP on the Xoom and now GT.
I changed the number of rows and columns to max (10 I think) and the spacing seems to stay correct in either orientation.
Also seems to get rid of all the lag with HC which I never noticed before due to going straight to LPP out of the box. Tried HC launcher on the GT for a couple of days but the lag was driving nuts! Just wish I could keep the larger icons.

I'm using ADW Launcher EX now (as of yesterday -- like you, learned from reading it on here).
It really is faster, smoother, better animations, etc. and you can have your vertical apps back! I never liked horizontal scroll for apps.
The ONLY downside, and it may be placebo, is that I think the stock widgets (bookmarks, gmail, calendar, etc.) scroll more slowly, but that is really the only downside that I can see -- at least those widgets work!
All in all, I'm now a proponent of aftermarket launchers for Honeycomb, which I never thought I would be.
Tried it and chnaged back, i didnt like the way the app draw looked. i prefured the stock set up....still think it needs more work. but on my phone thats all i rock!
ADW EX got auto-installed when I first set up the tab (it's what I use on my Evo so was in my stuff on market), and after messing with the stock launcher for a while I tried it, haven't looked back. Easier to get the look I want, plus seems quite a bit faster.
I'm curious. I have been running Launcher Pro Plus for a few weeks now and was wondering what other options are better as far as 'tweaking' goes. I keep noticing everyone seems to lean towards ADW Launcher - is it more configurable? Does anyone out there have any experience to mention about trying out the SPB Shell 3D? I recall I had SPB on my Palm Treo ages ago and it seemed to be a decent loader back then.. Not sure about now though and I'd rather get some community feedback before I go buying the thing.. or any other one for that matter..
Thanks!

I recently moved from Adw to Go Launcher Ex. It has two features that Adw (AFAIK) does not have, which I like a lot:
circlular home screen pages; i.e. if you keep moving right on the last page you're back on the first one
more than one row in the dock; also circular (see above)
So out of the 100 or so people that have viewed this thread, not a single person has anything to say about spb shell 3d? I'll just assume its not worth even checking out then..

ADW/EX has endless scroll.
And ADW/EX has a hidden dock with a scroll feature.
FWIW, i use ADW/EX as my daily driver. It's fast, reliable and has little drain on the battery. I also have LPP [paid] and it's nice, quick, but IMHO feels like a Sense/ADW hybrid. Where as AWD is more AOSPish. I've also use Regina which IMHO is the most elaborate. Each workspace can have a wall paper of it's own, and the 3D effects are pretty snazzy.
Zeam launcher is BLAZING fast will little options. and little memory usage.
GoLauncher EX is to bloated for my liking.
and Shell is 15.00 bucks. I'm not spending that much for a launcher..... sorry.

LPP is my favorite, I have tried most launchers and LPP is the best. I like the customization of it, the swipe actions on the launcher doubles as a hidden launcher, you can hide the garbage in the app drawer, great for someone like me that is running stock gingerbread.
Tried them all and I still stay with ADW (ex) fast, stable and option packed. I liked GO at first but having to install everything I wanted separately is a pain and the last couple updates made it slow and power hungry.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
I was loyal to LPP for 3rd party launcher for a long time, but recently tried Go Launcher Ex after hearing/reading about it forever but being reluctact to switch. Though I'm now running VU's native Sense 3.0 launcher, Go is my new go-to (pun intented) 3rd party launcher. Does everything LPP does and better IMO. Plus it's free, whereas you have to pay for LPP's widgets and advanced features. I found Go to be much smoother too, and it has the support of a full team of devs whereas LPP seems to have stopped being updated a while ago.
I usually prefer LPP for the included widgets and its blazing fast, but ADW EX does seem to have more customizable options and looks great. I have read some good reviews on the SPB Shell 3D and it looks really nice, but I just cant see myself spending $15 on a launcher...
I personally like ADW so many customizable options and tons of themes you can never get bored with. Go Launcher is pretty good too i use go sms n theme make so it all compliments each other but above all id go with adw extremely smooth practically feels like a stock launcher
I am personally still exploring all of these. I wish there was an easy way to copy everything from the stock launcher (shortcuts, widgets, etc.) over to one of these new ones. Is there?
Anyways, I tried ADW first, but it has never really worked well, always lagged, frozen, etc. I think Go Launcher seems pretty nice, as does Launcher Pro, but I'm still exploring.

in ADW and pretty much every other launcher, there is on option to increase the transition speeds of the homescreens and window animations. you can also download Spare Parts from the market and itll also improve the speed of the transitions. overclocking will help too
Well thanks for the info on all of these, I ended up purchasing ADW Ex and I'm really digging it. I think it's kind of odd that you have to install a separate service to get the global notifications on the dock icons for gmail/sms counts unread but I guess that's o.k. Otherwise it's looking great..

I still use Launcher Pro (and paid for it). I've started using the 'swipe up on icons in dock to launch other programs', which is a neat feature, but don't like that it has to be FC'd on boot with CM7.

I agree with you on all but your last statement. There is absolutely no need to overclock and run your battery anY harder. In fact, I run Underclocked and my transition speed is actually better than most people running stock or otherwise.
I had used LPP for a long tiMe but use ADW EX now. I used LPP mainly for the widgets it offered. Now that Android Pro Widgets is in the Market there is no need for LPP.
