Sorry for mine really bad english I have a question ,,, I want to know how to play a sound file like mp3 when i call someone,, its a joke mp3 file...
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Do you want your phone to play the mp3 file through the speaker or play the mp3 to the called person instead of you own voice.
I'd like to play the mp3 to the called person instead of my own voice. Is it possible in Android Enviroment?
Thank you
Audio over phone
I'd like to this on WinMo 6.5, sort of a way to build my own AAC device. I have lost my voice and have some prerecorded messages I would like to hit a button and play the mp3 or wav through the call and speakers so I know they heard it, it can be while on speakerphone which would be better.
Any ideas thanks, or if some dev has time to make an app with buttons to label and tag a wav file to.
TIA,
James

can anyone tell me is there a function or software to make it possible for Mp3 to be as a ring tone?
I convert all my ringtones (MP3 and WAV) to WMA using Sound Forge 7.
They get really small and remain very good soundquality.

Converting to WAV is a bad idea
Convert the mp3 to WMA (Windows Media Audio) , U will conserve the quality , less file size and u can set a .wma file as a ringtone !
Recommended software: MP3 to All Converter
Oggi,zimo4321,thanx,
but plz. give direct links to download on of these programs.
google knows best
http://www.google.dk/search?q=+Sound+Forge+7&ie=UTF-8&hl=da&btnG=Google-søgning
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
this is the best tool i've come across and it's opensource
Forget paying for Soundforge - use dbPowerAmp - it's free and integrates into the shell
Transcoding will result in quality degradation, but not in so far as you'd notice it as a ringtone

Has anyone experienced lag when using a bigger file as ringtone?
I have. When I use a .wma file which is bigger than 500k, up to 900k, there will be a lag. When there's an incoming call, the unit will light up first, but the ringtone will not start after 2 "toot-toot" or about 2 to 3 seconds later. I've simulated this using my landline to call my mobile, the lag is terrible for bigger files.
Hardly surprising when the ring tone has to be loaded into memory before ist starts playing, why do you want or need a ringtone of 500k or more?
because a 10 to 20 seconds .wma is that BIG!
Fair enough but my ringtone is the 02 Advert theme which is 30secs in length and only 300k? Encoded from an .mp3 using Windows Media Encoder.
Thanks guys
But 1 thing, did u guys actually found out that when setting the converted files as ring tone the sound quality of the files actually became softer ? is there anyway to make it louder? no point setting it as ring tone if u cant actually hears it.. thanks
1. When converting to WMA do this into mono mode (file will be twice smaller than stereo) and lower bitrate. U can't see the diffrence with this mono, little MDA speaker. speaking from my experience best result will be with 32 kb/s which gives 45 s ring about 200KB.
Check this one out http://annawhite.net/avatar/14-samuel_jackson-gmg pocket.wma souns great IMHO.
2. U can make WMA or MP3 louder with any good software mensioned above. If UR software doesn't have this function it means clearly that's not a good one . It's not easy to find good WMA soundeditor but U can (before converting to WMA) convert MP3 to WAV and there are plenty of applications which have this functionality. There will be no quality loss becouse any converting software does exactly the same (convertion from MP3 to WMA means that software does an uncompressing to raw - Wav format and then compressing it again to desired format).

Search google for a mp3-wav converter, cant remember which one i use but will update post when i get home and check.
Remember also a mp3 song converted to wav form will be a very BIG file, better to sample just a small ( very small ) section of the track and then use this for sms notifications.
There is a program called phonealarm that you can use, you can choose any sound you like for SMS.
First post....hello everybody.

I use Audacity (free) to edit MP3 first by selecting the part of the song or clip I want to use as a alert. Then you can remove one channel (right or left) which cuts down the size quite a bit. As far as I know all PPC speakers are MONO so there is no need for a stereo ring-tone or SMS alert. You can also change the bit rate but don't go to low or your sound will be distorted. Audacity also allows you to adjust the volume of the output alert so you can have a nice loud sound and attract allot of attention when you pull your phone out. LOL.
Also Remember that a SMS alert is (I think) shorter than a ring tone alert. (ring tone alert is between 30 and 35 seconds) I wont get my 8525 till Monday but I have a E-TEN M600 and I believe the length of the SMS is the same as the 8525/Tytn.
One thing to note: you can mute a ring-tone when someone calls but I have not found a way to mute or stop a SMS alert when it comes in.
After you have the perfect RT/SMS alert as a MP3 find a free app out there that will convert it to a .wav. I use a app that came with Nero.
You can also try Ringo. This is a app that will allow you to assign a different sound to any incoming sms message.
ie. I get a traffic update via SMS everyday before I go to work and I assigned the sound of tires screeching and horns blowing impatiently as my SMS traffic alert.
Newbie here, I had the 24 CTU ringtone on my old Nokia which worked very well. I am wondering if some has this ringtone on their Desire yet?
If not how can i make one- or maybe someone can make one and post it on here to share?
i dunno this ringtone but you can try ringdroid. you can create ringtones from your songs at any minute or second you want
you don't nead ringdroid the desire has a built in app, play mp3/wav in the music player, menu set as ring tone, then select trim.
done
Try http://www.mabilo.com/ Easy to use and fairly big database

Hi,
Is there any way to play music while on a call?
I'm back on stock Bell ROM and rooted but thinking about going back to xtrastolite as it's way better.
Thanks,
Sent from my SM-G900W8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
And why do you need to listen to music while on a call?
For instance if I wanted to play a song on voicemail or a recorded call to another person.

So do I understand you correctly, you would like to be on a call on your phone and then play a audio file (Song, VM, whatever) outloud so they can hear it as though you were holding 2 devices?
If that's right I think that would be a multi level challenge. Problem you will face I believe is the rom itself is pretty deeply coded to mute music for calls, for gps, etc... so MIGHT be a possibility would be to install a 3rd party music player and code the output of that player to say the REAR speaker and ignore any pause or mute requests, but idk for sure... I bet this would be a lot of close one door open 2 more kinda thing for a while.
