HTC Magic restarting itslef !?!

Hello my htc magic got problem when boot in recovery work for 2 seconds and restaring or just freeze i deleted ra-recovery tried to flash new recovery via fastboot but it gave me this error FAILED (remote: signature verify fail) what to do, i've tried this fastboot boot recovery.img but shows only htc magic logo and restart itself after 2 seconds, the phone is from TIM, please help...
Can you post the details that are shown when pressing power + volume down?
Also what recovery.img did you use with fastboot?
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-N H
HBOOT-1.33.0008(SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.08.29
I' tried ra recovery cydogen tim recovery and non of them worked
I'm only a n00b myself, so I could be talking rubbish, but have you tried
Code:
fastboot boot RA-sapphire-vxxxx.img
?
Also check that the md5 checksum of the file matches the one listed on the page where you found the file.
Oh and I hope you downloaded the recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img and not the G.
It boot to recovery but the phone is restarting after 2 seconds so i dont have time to start any of the options... ?
go in your tools dir (ex. cd c:/Android/tools/)
That means copy the 1.5.2(it will be G if you have 32B or H if you have 32A board) recovery image into the tools folder of your androidsdk. mine is on the root of my hard drive and I named it Android.
Then type in
Code:
cp C:\Android\tools
(remember the Android part is what you named it and the "C:" is where you put it.
Then type in
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
Change the "H" to "G" if you have the "G" one.
i've done this but mine file is in c:\users\(name of the user)\here! and it gives me the recovery menu of ra but how I said it restart itself after 2 seconds could this be a problem with the battery ?
But it doesn't reboot after 2 seconds if you boot into the fastboot part? (using power + volume down)
so there is a difference how i enter in fastboot is that right ?
Yes, there are three boot options (correct me if I'm wrong):
1. boot normally by pressing the power button
2. boot into fastboot/hboot by pressing power + volume down
3. boot into recovery by pressing power + home
The fastboot/hboot menu allows you to flash ROMs to a certain limit, apparently for flashing boot images to downgrade or something, see cyanogens mod installation guide. I'm quite a newbie myself, but if the fastboot/hboot menu doesn't reboot after 2 seconds you could try to put a different sappimg.nbh onto the sd card and flash that one instead.
Btw, are all the 3 options above restarting the phone after 2 seconds?
And have you followed cyanoges steps as mentioned here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream/Magic32A_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
so i started the phone in hboot how you said, when the phone is staying in hboot/fastboot there is no problem it doesnt turn off but when i boot ra-recovery or other recovery it restarting itself when i enter in the recovery and i have only 2 seconds to browse trough the recovery menu and is restarting or just freeze
can you reboot normally? without pressing any buttons (just the power button initally of course)
it boots directly to hboot cause i deleted the partition to try flash them with new img because the phone just hangs on tim logo it was with 1.6 firmware
Maybe if you try flashing a stock ROM from the hboot/fastboot screen (it should pick up the file automatically if it's named sappimg.nbh or sappimg.zip and in the root folder of the sd card)
once you're able to boot your phone normally you can flash the recovery using flashrec.
i cant find original tim rom if you could help because i cant see it on htc page ?
do I need a goldcard for that ?
You don't need a goldcard unless you have a perfect spl. cant help you with the original ROM but you could search the forum for it or any other stock rom that fits your phone
I need help, i am not a noob, i have flashed a 32B Magic and work`s like a charm.
But this 32A Magic (from TIM) won`t work at all, in recovery mode it power off after a time...
As a result I can`t flash big roms, i managed to flash DRC83_base_defanged.zip (then power off itself, restart recovery [ramon_ra] with fastboot cmd shell) + update-cm-4.2.14.1-signed.zip (again) + bc-4.2.14.1-ebi1-signed.zip .
Then i`ll wait to boot, sometimes (very rarely) pass the android screen and start the android, it`s ok for 3 seconds and power off.. In the demonstration on youtube have`nt succefully loaded android (not so lucky)
P.S. i can`t power on only if i remove the battery and put it back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo_x2S1SQ5E
SO ANYBODY, is there solution for this ???
PLEASE HELP ME, i will understand anything, i am noot a noob. only my english is not so perfect
nobody? a single reply ?
I think is a hardware related problem, i tried a lot off roms, including official, including with perfected SPL, i have rooted, unrooted.. flashed roms directly from fastboot, recovery mode
It still powering off ...
I give up..
Thanks all

[Solved] NEED HELP! Bricked? No SDcard in Recovery - no Restore - no adb

Hi all!
I have a big problem...
My Hero wan't boot so I go in the Recovery Console.
But if i want to restore a Backup this message appears:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:
I tried several SDCARDs... same message.
I've wiped all several times. Reformat the SDCARD...
Access via ADB brings:
error: device not found
Fastboot mode is possible... but
fastboot boot cm-hero-recovery.img
in the konsole brings: "downloading 'boot.img'... FAILED (remote: not allow)"...
What can i do?
This might help?.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681583
then go to .....
http://android.modaco.com/content-page/299174/no-adb-no-sd/page/80/
Thanks for the links...
I could re-flash the T-Mobile ROM (2.73.111.26)... The Hero starts and now it works with Android 1.5 ...
I have access to the SDCARD ... but the USB Connectivity doesn't work...
No ADB and no storage Device in Windows...
"fastboot oem eraseconfig" doesn't work... think about the false HBOOT (HBOOT-1.76.0007)...
flashrec also doesn't work... there comes "Flash FAILED: could not run command"
Any ideas?
Had exactly the same.
Forget about the rom, it doesn't matter (i.e. flash whatever you like).
You already got your SD card support back, for the rest you need to update the SPL (search for an unlocked version for your hero, double-check because it can _really_ brick your device if this fails). After that fastboot oem eraseconfig works and your usb is back to normal.
Did that yesterday, worked like a charm and actually makes sense (unlike other suggestions like "reflash N times", "unplug and replug usb or change the cable" and "send in for service"). Your USB is fine (as seen in fastboot), it's just not working after your kernel booted -> Due to messed up configuration parameters in the flash area. Basically the kernel commandline, if you will..
Wich version of SPL I do you flash?
How do you flash it? Like...
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip SPL_image.zip
in the fastboot konsole?
RecoveryConsole is not useable to me... My Hero is not rooted anymore... And it seems to be very difficult to get root again :-/
What do you mean by?

According to BTDAGs guide, flashing 2.73.61.5 should enable you to use flashrec to do the custom recovery again.
[solved] NEED HELP! Bricked? No SDcard in Recovery - no Restore - no adb
Thanks for your help. I have solved the problems...
- first I flashed the T-Mobile D ROM like described in the Link (extract rom.zip and flash)
http://android.modaco.com/content-page/299174/no-adb-no-sd/page/80/
- then I have detected, that flashrec does'nt work on the ROM
- then I created a GOLD Card
- with this I flashed in the OEM fastboot Mode (described here) the HTC Update ROM (_HTC_Hero_RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe)
- then flashrec was working and I was able to flash a Recovery Image
- in the Recovery Console I flashed the unlocked Modaco SPL (from here)
- now it was possible to erase the config, which locked the USB after Kernel Boot (fastboot oem eraseconfig)
- after that I restored the last Nandroid Backup...
- Now I'm happy

stuck at htc screen - what to do?

ok, it is just a idea
it looks like many people do have the problem that for some reason their phone stops booting at htc screen...
i´m thinking about writing something like a guide (wip) what are the things you could try to get the phone working again (only basic stuff and links, i´m not a dev) - so if anybody got an idea what i should add pls post it
how to check your emmc chip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13895268&;postcount=48
if one step works stop and don´t go further...
1. post: stock phone (no root)
2. post: rooted phone
3. post: rooted phone & eng hboot
STOCK PHONE - NO ROOT (bootloader shows: hboot: ??? & S-ON):
1. pull the battery and try it again
2. turn your phone in usb fastboot mode (power & tp) connect it to pc; on pc go to platform tools and type fastboot devices (your device should show up) then type fastboot oem boot
3. wipe cache or do a factory reset (= push power & volume down to enter bootloader; select recovery = a red triangle will appear then push power & volume up to enter recovery menu)
3.a. wipe cache = none of your apps are lost
3.b. factory reset = you will loose your apps & sms & so on... but you won´t loose your sdcard content
reboot
4. use a ruu (it´s .exe to start from windows pc) and try to update (install htc sync):
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Vision ...for example
5. if point 3 didn´t work, extract the PC10IMG.zip put it on your sdcard (not in a folder) enter bootloader and start the update (more details will follow)
6. hope for warranty
PHONE ROOTED (bootloader shows: hboot ??? & S-OFF):
1. if you enabled usb debugging before, start adb and type adb devices, if your device shows up type adb reboot bootloader (if it worked next step = 4)
2. pull the battery and try it again
3. turn your phone in usb fastboot mode (power & tp) connect it to pc; on pc go to platform tools and type fastboot devices (your device should show up) then type fastboot oem boot
4. wipe cache or do a factory reset (power & volume down to enter bootloader then select recovery) - reboot
5. wipe again (this time use superwipe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044992) & wipe through recovery then flash a different rom
6. any suggestions?
PHONE ROOTED & ENG HBOOT (bootloader shows: hboot 0.76.2000 |g2| or 0.84.2000 |desire z| & S-OFF):
1. if you enabled usb debugging before, start adb and type adb devices, if your device shows up type adb reboot bootloader (if it worked next step = 4)
2. pull the battery and try it again
3. turn your phone in usb fastboot mode (power & tp) connect it to pc; on pc go to platform tools and type fastboot devices (your device should show up) then type fastboot oem boot
4. wipe cache or do a factory reset (power & volume down to enter bootloader then select recovery) - reboot
4. wipe again (this time use superwipe: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1044992) & wipe through recovery then flash a different rom
5. if you can´t enter recovery for some reason turn your phone in usb fastboot mode and connect to pc:
5.a. wipe cache & data through fastboot (go to platform tools and type fastboot erase cache and fastboot erase userdata) - reboot
5.b. flash a recovery.img through fastboot (download the image and put it in your platform tools folder; go to platform tools and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) then enter recovery and flash whatever you want to...
6. any suggestion?
My DZ is with new mainboard now - there was no other way... I tried all steps for "STOCK PHONE - NO ROOT" without success.

sure if it is a hw defect nothing will work... i planned to add a way to confirm if it´s a broken emmc chip, but if there is no interest in a thread like this i will stop...
there is really not too much to worry about, if you private message me, I can give you Josh's information here on XDA - he can unbrick pretty much any G2/Desire-Z for $40 and has done 100's of them - he has like almost 500 Thanks on here -
the only thing he can't fix is a fried emmc chip, but thankfully those are relatively rare!
(and if the emmc chip is fried, then HTC will fix it, because that truly is their fault, so no worries!)
(HTC knows of the emmc chip failures, and that is why in this case they are not going to give you a hassle about the warranty, sort of like when an auto company has done a silent recall, so to speak)
ADB
Well when i first rooted and installed cyanogen..it got stuck oon the htc screen..pulled the battery(not safe)... so the next time i flashed a rom and this happened i just connected the phone to pc and used adb to reboot into the bootloader....
Confused with all the links to various places for rooting your Desire Z/ G2 ???? Maybe you could find it a little easier on my blog www.desirez.strawmetal.com ... Hope it helps you..

thx, i´ve changed the op
any feedback on this thread? i don´t know the hboot numbers (normal hboot, not eng hboot) for g2 or dz - does anybody know?

" x " appears on the screen

Malfunction " x " appears on the screen !! help me what is going on
Haha... you'll need more information than that if you want real help.
Based on the limited information though I suspect your phone is stuck in a bootloop. I'd hook it up to the PC via USB and check the logcat. Probably something screwed up.. Maybe time to restore your latest backup.
Did you flash any ROM if so, did you clean your Dalvic+REgular Cache
If you don't have an Recovery:
- Connect your Micro SD on PC
- Download and insert on SD the stock ROM of your Nexus One
- Power ON your Nexus with Volume Down Pressed.
- Autmotically Restore Nexus (You should say Yes xD)
At this time, you decide if you want to be root and install other ROM
you better just list your setup info before doing anything
locked/unlocked bootloader
rooted/unrooted
which recovery are you using
what rom are you running stock/custom
what were you doing when this happened
a couple safe things you can do in meantime is to pull battery and reinsert and power on
if it goes back to X, pull battery and DO NOT power on. Hold down the pwr button and trackball at same time and see if you can get into recovery
the third is hold down trackball/vol-/power at same time while X is on screen and see if you can get to recovery that way
if you can't get to recovery you will need to fastboot new recovery, assuming you are unlocked
once you get into recovery do a nandroid if you are rooted
and copy it to pc as a secondary backup
it is possible you may need to try the passimg method in wiki
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Nexus_One/Guides_&_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus
also to do fastboot commands you need usb debugging selected on phone--hope it is
Hello, i have a similar problem with my n1
the phone starts and just shows the nexus X - (waited for 15 min. nothing happend)
i can go to the bootloader / fastboot menu with PWR + (Vol-) but i can not go to the recovery mode. -> the phone reboots and get stuck at the X
the phone is rooted
blackrose / hboot 7.35.5017
radio 5.12.00.08
recovery was ext4
i had a german ics miui rom installed and tryed to install the latest ics miui us rom after it didn't booted the miui us rom i turned the phone off and tryed a few hours later to turn it on to reflash the german ics miui rom.
1.)
i tryed to install a new recovery image ->
recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-passion &
recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1
(still get stuck at the X if i try to go to recovery mode)
2.)
i tryed this one with the passimg.zip but nothing happens if i put in the sd card :/
(with nothing i mean the green text show that the sd card is checking for PASSDIAG.zip and PASSIMG.zip but dosn't found it)
i also tryed:
3.)
erased boot
flash boot from passimg.zip (PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_2.18.1700.1_FRG83_release_signed)
4.)
erased cache
erased userdata
started again with 1.)
5.)
got frustrated and erased system -.-
any ideas?
study it ,thank you
study it ,thank you
Hmm, sorry if its obvious but i have no idea what it could be or what i have to search to find the solution. Would be nice if you could give me a hint. Of course im not asking for a step by step solution. Thank you.
Send from my awesome SE K800i
not sure why you are flashing boot images
do you have a nandroid--copy your sdcard with the nandroid to pc--all of sdcard
are you flashing thru fastboot in command window
did you read my post above on getting to the fastboot screen--can you do that--the one with the 3 androids
pwr/vol-/trackball same time, may take 20-30 seconds
if you can get there, put your recovery image in your fastboot folder on pc, normally tools--assuming you have sdk installed, your phone must have usb debugging checked--I hope
open a command window and change directory to the tools folder or wherever the fastboot.exe file is. Something like:
cd/
cd/ android/android-sdk-windows/tools for me
then on same line type
fastboot devices (it should show your phone H#)
fastboot erase system
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (or the exact name of the recovery image, checked by right clicking on the img file in your tools folder and looking under properties)
I would use amonra you listed above and check the md5 if possible
hopefully the recovery will flash
if not you can go to the wiki link i posted above and try passimg metthod from there, use correct one. don't add the .zip. Windows will had it automatically.
a side note, DON"T flash different roms without wiping all including System 3 times before flashing--prevents a lot of problems

You can enter fastboot mode by pressing the power and volume down button together until you feel a vibration then connect your phone to pc and open mi flash locate the fastboot rom folder it should be placed in either D or E drive bcuz if you place the rom in System Drive (c) it will not work also if you are getting errors try to use different options like clean flash, save user data, flash and lock. if you don't know how to flash fastboot rom via fastboot method i would personally recommend you to surf on YouTube they are plenty of videos out there which will clear your doubt Hope this helps
