Not receiving some calls

I installed the latest Nebula rom today and using the dk28 modem and victory_8G_100528.pit
I'm new to all of this and I recently bricked/unbricked my phone. Is anyone else not getting some calls or texts? Everything else seems perfect. Can someone tell me what is this pit file I need to use? Is the pit file the kernel? Is the kernel the problem or is it the modem or rom? I need intel on this!
ok,from my understanding the pit file is what tells odin where to place the modem file, but ; have gotten away with not using it several times

oh,I dont suggest you do that, and I cant see why you would miss calls,I havnt had this problem on 2.1 using dk28 modem,or on 2.2.1,and I test every ROM

How are you trying to flash the modem? You can't flash the modem in clockwork like the ROM/Kernel, you need to flash it with Odin.
I tried both ways. The downloads I got are not files they look like paper and I cannot even open them on my pc.

Do you know what odin is? You don't need to open the files. Just flash a DI01 rom back and you will be fine.

considering its very likely there will be some update coming out for the Fascinate on Monday... why not just wait for that?
Does the modem file have a file extension on it? I seem to remember having an issue where I downloaded one of the DJ05 files, and it it didn't have a file extension on it and wouldn't work. I believe I fixed it by just adding the appropriate extension onto the file. Might not have been the modem file, though.

The modem file is a .tar file. To flash via Odin, you need to ensure you are using Odin 3 and not Odin 4 (it will not work with Odin 4) and load it as a PDA file to flash.
I have odin v4.16 i**** this the right one? If not can you give me a link for the correct one

No, that is why you are having issues (I tried it initially using 4.16 and it failed, switched to v3 and it worked no problem).
There is a link to it in one of the odin threads in this forum, I can't find it atm but will post it when I get home.
Thank you cant wait

I actually had an issue updating also, ended up being I was doing it from a 64bit system, tried it on a 32bit system I had, and it worked fine. I have heard people saying that they did it from a 64bit, but I didn't have any success.

Should be the same for both. Guess you're not up on your Norse mythology-- Odin and Heimdall are both found there.

Heimdall is an open source replacement for Odin. It is meant to use the same files that Odin uses.
You need to decompress the odin tar ball. The files are in there. You will like heimdall once you get use to it. I only use linux so I had to compile it and use it. I prefer it to odin. I how that helps.

You can find the file here: http://www.multiupload.com/F0JFA0487M
I'm not at my computer right now, but I think you might need one more file. Anyways open that file and put the individual files in the proper location in heimdall. If your missing a file let me know. If your not sure what to do, follow the read me with heimdall. It's very detailed.

Rooting issues

Hey guys, ive factory reset, wiped data and cache however whenever I root and flash a rom my sms is not functioning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.thanks

What baseband, what rom are you using?
DI01 baseband. Stock rom. Just tried to flash evil once rooted. Sms was the only thing that didn't work. I've had same issue on other roms.

You will lose sms with that radio on EF. I would Odin DL09 and from there ota to ED04 or use the zip files found in the development section to get to the modem you want.
Keep me Fascinated.
Sounds like I can handle it, could I be a douche and ask for link to thread with odin file for dl09, pretty please?

Yes roms in the developement section here can all usually be flashed through cwm unless otherwise stated. And I've never needed to unroot, but odin is a windows gui for flashing tar's(which are roms usually official and modems). You use Odin when you want to go back to complete stock, or modems usually. You can do other things with Odin such as flash custom recoveries like cwm. Odin is your bestfriend if you mess something up, always make sure to use a premium blackberry or other thick cable besides the one that came with the phone when using odin.(most people have difficulties with stock cable.)
