I was doing a bit of light reading in relation to overclocking these units, a lot of complaints about increased battery usage. I was wondering is it likewise possible to underclock to improve battery? I only really use mine for the calander and phone functions, and would love longer battery life.
There are experiments done on some other phone ( Wizard, I think. Definately not an Atom) on underclocking. On the clock low enough to be functional, the improvements in battery life is too little to be significant

read this 2 links it will help a lot
Cheers guys, I'll do some reading.
Well, I know that most ROMs claim to have better battery life and yada, yada, yada. But which one do you believe is the winner? I have only tried Fresh other than stock and I can't complain. But for you, which one do you feel offers the best battery life performance?!
Thanks in advance...
I got great battery life in DamageControl, but I dumped that for CyanogenMod.
This may not be the exact answer you were looking for, but I've found that using an underclocking kernel I get great battery life, even with the latest cyanogen nightly. You might want to try using SetCPU if you haven't done that already.
DamageControl
DamageControl v3.2.3 using DConfig with the profile set to battery Saver. My battery last for days (moderate use).
I believe t0ast3d de1ight has the best battery
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
All very subjective but I've been reading that Baked Snack is specifically geared towards battery life.
like above poasts state, rom does not matter, undervolt kernal + setcpu/phone setting settings does
cm heavy usage > 18 hours regular use 36 hours idle for days
Best I had was baked snack 9. 7 I got al most 24 hours on a charge with normal usage
Ava 2. 2v3 I. Got 18 hours
Cm6 barely 8 hours
sent with my evo from a secret place

I second this. I was using this setup before updating to official 2.2. I was getting about 5-6 hours of usage(I.e. When you're actually using your phone--Screen on browsing the web, using apps) plus around 20 hours of "Uptime" (standby, screen off).
I am getting equal or better battery life with the official 2.2 update. I am surprised I'm not seeing more people mention just how good battery life is with it.
BakedSnack with 3rd kernel did miracles for me

I also have been having good battery life on the official pre-release, just about on par with what I had running baked snack 9.6, which underclocked a good amount for battery life. Very pleased with the new release, I haven't had any problems going from a fresh wipe to this update.
I would bet most people haven't really noticed how good the battery life has been because they've been busy trying to restore backups, apps, and test out the camera functionality.
Best battery life I had was DC 3.2.3 with Battery config, SetCPU w/ undervoltage kernel, JuiceDefender, and Autostarts configed. Got about 26 hours moderate usage. I still get excellent battery life using the same setup on CM6, around 20-24 hours.
I'm getting great battery life with the leaked, stock 2.2
I think it is almost impossible to prove a rom has the best battery life when there are so many options/tweaks that can be done to every rom and all phones won't necessarily act the exact same.
Choose a rom based on functionality and features that appeal to you and then figure out how to obtain the battery life you want through different tweaks/usage. They all can have great battery life.

I believe people that have tried multiple ROMs can accurately assess which is better/worse in terms of battery life. Obviously there can be variations due to tweaks, apps, and usage, but it isn't difficult to get a sense of where you stand. I know I noticed a drastic increase coming from stock to Fresh.

True, what I should have said was without testing yourself and keeping variables the same, you can't just take the word of others.
I'm planning on picking up a NST and have had a difficult time finding accounts of what the battery life is like with different usage patterns. I'm particularly interested in writing with an external keyboard but I think it would be a good reference to have a thread where people shared how many hours the battery lasts for depending on what they're doing with it. Has anybody done any sort of benchmarks with full cpu usage or anything like that?
The basic rule is that the Nook has a very long battery life unless it doesn't.
The thing that really kills it currently (so to speak) is using USB host mode.
There is a thread on current drain.

So, despite performance being something I am heavily interested alongside with pretty themes(minimalist) I really do care about something manufacturers don't give a **** about any more and that is battery life.
My question is directed towards i9500 users, I am trying to figure out which rom has best battery performance, all CM roms seem to be underperforming+ poor battery life.. I am looking for something that supplies me with REALLY good battery performance, can you guys tell me which rom does it for you?
what you are looking for is kernel rather than a rom.
all touchwiz based roms will give you +- the same performance and battery life.
to increase battery life you should Tweak your system with Greenify, Unbounce and Kernel so you could undervolt your cpu.
Hello everyone.
I created this thread to collect general consensus on the average battery life offered by the Lenovo K3 Note. I have seen many people changing batteries, buying new ones because they thought that their battery life was poor only to find that the battery life remained the same. So in this thread, every K3 Note user can post the battery life of his device.
There are, however, a few things that should be there :
1. The name of Your phone (K50-T5 or K50a40)
2. The ROM you're using.
3. The kernel (and the version number) installed (as of now, I doubt there are any kernels for this phone, but this could be of use in the future) .
4. The governor you use, the setting for max and min CPU clock (if it's different from the default values of 1300 and 598)
5. Xposed or any other Mod that you are using (generally these don't have much of an impact on battery life but no problem in including them, right )
6. Your usage conditions. Amount of time spent browsing on 3G, on 2G, amount of time spent gaming, amount of time spent watching videos, wifi usage, screen brightness (auto or custom value) . Also include if you always keep data connection on or do you switch it on only when needed.
7. The Age of your battery/phone (How old it is)
8. Lastly, the time your phone lasts on a single full charge. You may also include the time for which the device screen was on. (Duh, this was obvious [emoji6] )
All that's been mentioned above are things that can affect battery life so it's necessary for someone to have knowledge of these to be able to gauge how long the battery should last for his usage pattern. Also feel free to include any other info you feel is necessary.
Also here are a couple of threads with really useful battery tweaks. Have a look :
Thread 1
Thread 2
These require xposed to be installed and are basically intended to help reduce battery loss when screen is off.
I hope this reference list turns out to be extremely useful for you people.
Wish you all a long battery life.
Cheers.[emoji1]
Just in case......
