I was browsing the forum last night using my Xoom and TapaTalk Pro. I noticed that long posts (like this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11635160&postcount=1) cause the Xoom display to become unreadable -- I don't quite know how to describe it -- all the pixels jumble up to the point you can't read the post.
It's particularly noticeable during a fast scroll. Sometimes it recovers and sometimes is stays messed-up.
I tried a reboot to see if that fixes the problem, but no joy. I haven't seen the problem anywhere else so I attribute it to a problem with TapaTalk. Has anyone else noticed this problem (in TapaTalk or anywhere else)?
It's been happening with me too. Any fixes? Probably an update would fix that.

Same here ! Happens alot when its a long post with links for me! It even happens when you put it in portrait

It looks like all the lines of text are pushed on top of each other, as if the processor isn't fast enough. I had that problem too.
I have seen this myself. Usually just touching the screen makes it stop for me. Then when I scroll again it does it again.

I have seen the same thing since day one but I am chalking it up to something that will be a adressed with a Tablet version of the app. I have not seen this in any other app., email, text, or web session.
Tapping the screen once fixes any blurriness for me.

So i got my transformer yesterday, first thing i did was upgrade to 3.1
luckily it did not have any dust under the screen or any other build defects that seem to be rather common (other than some minor light bleeds but that's only noticable in the dark and is not a dealbreaker for me)
one thing that I find really weird though is that in the android market when I click the "install" button it does 2 things 1) starts the download 2) starts the previously installed application... what the hell? has anyone else seen this?
Oh yesh. This happens quite regularly to me and is a known bug AFAIK. Honeycomb market has quite a few quirks. As well as the bug you mentioned, using the back button takes you back to the top of the page of your last search instead of your last position down the list, which also annoys quite a few people. Myself included.
Top tip: Use market.android.com wherever possible.

oh okay good to know
btw do you also have lag the first ~5 minutes after boot (sluggish homescreen navigation etc.) that goes away afterwards
Does anyone else have this problem with their nexus 7? I just got my nexus 7 today but I noticed that the backlight seems to flicker randomly
It doesn't look like much in the video but it is very noticeable and gets annoying when you're reading an ebook like i was.. Here's a video showing the problem.(It's near the end)
VIDEO LINK: h**p://db.tt/28eD0NLk (It happens around 9 second in) (change ** into tt)
For whatever reason this forum would not post a video link to show the problem.. for those who wants to know what it looks like please PM me..
But basically the screen flickers randomly ..
Is this a software problem? Should I go back and get it exchanged?
I don't see a video

I've had a similar problem as well. It seemed to happen to me on auto-brightness when it was changing the brightness level. I can't say for sure though, just my observation.

I havn't tried it yet..do we know if it's a hardware problem or software?
I just got it today so I can still return it if it turns out to be hardware
We really dunno at this point, but we are speculating software since both HTC One X and TF300 had similar problems and were fixed with firmware updates. Also someone switched it three times and all of them had this issue. Also try to run the screen in a pitch black room and tell me if the screen flicker is there. I may have a theory but need some other people to see if their units are behaving the same way as mine.
You can still post the link when you alter it a bit, insert a few *** into it, for example.
I turned mine on as soon as I got hold of it, no flicker, managed to go through and set up things, powered off and left to charged.
Coming back to it the screen would appear to turn on and off randomly, I thought it could be an app controlling a proximity sensor (I have one on my phone and I was EXTREMELY tired!), when I took it into the light there was no change.
I found that shaking it would help it flicker on and off at all intervals but didn't fix it. In the end I just started pushing random areas on the back, just before the issue went away I pressed around the bottom left quarter of mine and haven't had an issue since!
Glad I wasn't the only one with the problem though and would love to actually find out what it was.
Hope this helps!

Try this video,
h**p://dl.dropbox.com/u/13153603/Videos/VID_20120715_100253.mp4
it is using google map and you can see the constant flickering.. It doesn't look very severe in the video but it is actually very noticeable and annoying
I have the same issue with mine. It only seems noticeable when I have the brightness set to the lowest setting and on a page that is predominately white. I don't think it's the proximity sensor though, because it happens both when I set it manually to the lowest setting and when I'm in the dark and the tablet sets the brightness all the way down itself. Hope the next update fixed this, because it's really annoying!

Seems like only a small portion of nexus 7 owners are reporting this issue .. I think I'm going to return mine ...

I first noticed this flicker in a darkened room, so yes, it is definitely something going on. I'll try disabling auto-brightness to see if that matters.
If anyone else has info about this, please share!

I can attest that the flicker is ever present in a pitch black room as well.
Like this?
There are a few videos on youtube, but i cant post links but if you do a search you can find it
I noticed a flickering in chrome yesterday. But only in chrome and only while the page is rendering after it fully renders no more flickering.
Everyone turn off wifi and I guarantee it will go away. It happens when using wifi which makes it hard to believe that a software update can fix it.
Hi all,
Anyone else noticed the screen isn't as responsive since the 4.1.2 update?
I scroll on the home screen and it goes in the opposite direction.

Yep !!! Deffo !
Also have you noticed, flicking doesn't change the page any more, you have to properly swipe.
Finally have you noticed you can't flick downwards for the Notifications you have to slide it all the way down?
Yep. Agree with this. Why did they change this. Sol annoying

Atleast its not just me
I haven't noticed this. I was having continual touch screen issues that seemed to get progressively worse as time went on. Days before I received my 4.1.2 update, majority of the time my tablet was unusable it seemed, requiring a reboot to work again. Then I finally got a notification that 4.1.2 was available. Since installing it, I've had *zero* touchscreen issues...
You can check me off next to "I fricken love it", however I have nothing to offer in regard to the other issues that you folks speak of. Maybe they were existent prior and I never noticed, who knows.
Damn, this is true. All. I thought it was TSF shell that I use, but it is not. I almost immediately upgraded to 4.1.2 so I was not that accustomed to 4.1.1, but now that you say, yes. You have to slide all the way, both screens and what bothers me more, notifications. Ugh.
I'm still not sure I'm following this. With both Apex and the stock launcher, I'm not noticing any significant change. If I'm in the app drawer and I want to swipe left or right, I can flick the screen and move my finger all but a half inch and the gesture applies accordingly and I see the screen move. Notifications feel no different as well. Am I missing something?
Same here homepage screens bounce back if I don't follow through with the swipe

Hey guys, I can flick home screens just fine if I do from the center of the screen. Imagine a vertical line from the camera to the charging port. Flicking from near the edges makes the screens scroll in the opposite direction every now and then.

Having this exact problem to. For me I would hesitate to suggest that this is more prominent when the tablet just been woken up. Really wish it hadn't changed.
I'm having similar problems on my stock, rooted 4.1.2 N7. It's become harder to flick-swipe between screens and the like. I don't have a screen protector on my device either.
Was first raised in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943613 guess more people are noticing it now. Hope it'll be fixed in 4.2
has anybody tried the 4.2 update to see if it has fixed this?
After updating to 4.2.1 i started noticing this issue in both AOSP browser, chrome, app drawer and notification pulldowns... Annoyed my ass off... anyway, after some hard googling, it appears to be a 4.2.X issue? So after flashing CM10 (4.1.2) the problem is gone, but the 4.2 sweetness is as well...
Please star the issue here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39892
Update:
After flashing 4.2.1 again, everything seems to be working just fine... I'm just left clueless
I used to have the same problem. Can anyone here who has this problem right now tell me if they have enabled "Magnification Gestures" under accessibility in the settings menu? If so, disable it and see if the problem is better.
hey,
I've noticed some lines showing up on my screen... they only show once every 10/15 min and run across the vritical when in landscape mode. typically only one or two pixels thick and lasts only a moment.
Like every one my tablet takes a tumble now and again, but if it was hardware then my is it so intermittent?
any ideas?
I think this has happened to mine too but it flashes so fast that I don't know if it's happening or I'm seeing things. It's very rare though for me.

I get it every now and again, seems to happen when the screen has been on for a long period.
Not sure what is causing it, I tried to Google it but couldn't find anything.
It seems to be software guys, as before the 4.1.2 update I was getting these lines around 2x as often. Hopefully the next ota knocks them out for good.
I think it is WiFi reception strength related. In my case, they appear only when WiFi signal is weak. They have been there since the beginning. But now, not only vertical, some times horizontal lines appear as well. Horizontal lines didn't exist before 4.1.2 update. Same issue have I with my TF700. So, I assume it's both hardware/software related.

I never had this with stock rom but have had it with some custom roms, I had it with "slimbean 2.7" but since updating to 2.8 it has gone. So, it points to software.
Maybe megamoz is onto something too.
I don't think it is a faulty screen. Something else is going on.
I am on rooted stock, had them both before and after rooting.
Don't think it is related to the WIFI, not for me anyway, as I get it when browsing in the living room and I sit right next to my router so I get full signal.

that would sound like a prime candidate for me. I have been stuck in hospital for 10 days, and the tab has been on for 15+ hours at a time some days... although the wifi angle is interesting too.
just happy its "normal" and not that I dropped it
thanks everyone for you input
Yeah I am also getting them and they seem to happen more when there is alot of white background on my screen or maybe that's when I notice them more lol but as far as problems go that's all my NEXUS7 has so hopefully it is software and can be fixed with a good old update COME ONNN 4.2 GOD BLESS YOU GUYS

I see it everytime I use Flipboard, and also have noticed it in Maxthon occasionally. At times it flickers, and others the thin line will stay until I move to another page/screen.
Sensation, ARHD667
its software. i remember seeing a post a while back about a guy who managed to take a screenshot of it. somehow. if it was a hardware issue, it wouldnt appear on a screenshot

I have noticed that my AT&T G2 is a bit too sensitive to my touches as well. It's not a big deal but it's a little bit annoying sometimes.

Same issue with Verizon model for me. Not that common but very annoying when I do notice it.
I fixed it by wiping the screen with a micro fiber cloth and doing a full factory reset. I don't know which one fixed it. It works perfectly now. Using an AT&T G2.
I've been looking for a way to fix the over-sensitivity on the vzw device. The screen will seem to scroll extremely fast out of nowhere.
I thought it was just me. When I'm texting sometimes it will put two or three of the same letter in a row from just one touch. VZW model
Occasionally experiencing something of this nature on my VZW phone as well. Not frequent, though.
Having this same issue right now. I feel like it started happening after last week's software update (verizon).
Sent from my LG G2 using Tapatalk 4.
I had the same issue when scrolling thru the screens using Zedge to look for notifications and ringtones. It was a big pain in the butt.
has anyone figured this out? I literally can't use a browser because when I try to scroll, it just zooms in. so annoying
On the phone with a vzw rep at technical support now... She said that they don't have any reports of that on a mass scale. I told her that it doesn't happen all the time and she said that it was probably a fluke... Whatever! Obviously this isn't just a problem on my phone..
It doesn't happen mass scale because most people won't address or report the issue. Just bad on verizon for not testing
sensitive touch
I have the very same issue with the touch sensitivity, obviously since i have found this thread. I find that by turning the screen of then back on it tends to reset it. I just wish i didn't have to do it so often. I would rather not factory reset my phone being how it was already a pain to make the transfer of data in the first place. Plus in theory, the reset shouldn't work being that it came of the production line this way. No amount of resets will change the outcome of the hardware that was installed, until production fixes it for the next line. But if others have found solid longer lasting methods, minus tge reset, I'm willing to test them til i simply get tired of itand replace it.
I am on Verizon and get it occasionally. I just turn the screen off and back on, and that has corrected it every time so far. Not too annoying yet, but if it gets worse I'll try getting it switched out.
I'm guessing this is a software issue, but it only happens to me while web browsing
