I want to upgrade my sdcard to an 8Gb c4 card (2gb card now)
It won't affect anything if i copy everything over to the new card then shut the phone off and install the new card
just wondering since i'm rooted and there are file on there
let me know if there is anything else i need to do.
that's exactly what I did when I got a new SD card, and I haven't noticed any problems
Once you're rooted its okay to delete the shift folder from your sdcard
Sent from my HTC Knight using MikRom(again)
When I did this, the applications that I had moved to the card didn't show up correctly. You may want to verify everything is there before you erase the old one; if things didn't make it, put the old card back in, move everything to the phone, and then do your swap and move them back to the card.

you dont want to delete the shift folder because it has your wimax backups. just in case you lose all your CWM backups.

Good day Ladies and Gents,
I was wondering if you can help me out here. I think that the problems I am having are due to programs and files on my sd Card. So I think I should format it. What should I reinstall back on to the card besides Pictures and music? Thanks

If you used gfree to root, the part7backup file is needed

Did not use that to root. I used visionary
So yesterday I was trying to find a picture on my phone, but right before I clicked the gallery icon, the phone said "SD card suddenly disconnected" or something like that.
So I rebooted, which is what i usually do when I get a SD card error.
Now the phone won't boot with the SD card in. The computer shows the status bar on the top loading when I use a micro-sd adapter, but it will not respond and restart Explorer if I try to to right-click or access it.
I'd really like to get my pictures back at least.
I would try to put the sd card in another phone and try and see if it works. If it does, make a back up on your pc, then format your card. Then restore the back up.
Don't know if that would fix it but its worth a try.

Yes that works. But it also sometimes does not format the entire card . Such as in the case of an sd ext partitoned card.
Anyone know how to remove the partitions? Like get it back to the factory partitions?

I guess this card is just going to get put away, the computer won't read it to format it, that's the problem.
If I try to right click the drive, it says not responding the Explorer crashes and restart.
I'm pretty sure I said that in the op.

No. I did try it in another phone, an Evo. I did boot, but said the SD card was damaged and it needed to be formatted.
EVO Shift and XDA app
I tried running chkdsk on it, it also froze up the cmd window.
EVO Shift and XDA app
Well if you can get the SD Card to show in another phone. Place the SD Card into the other phone, boot into recovery and format it from there.
It won't mount or anything in the other phone.
I let the chkdsk run for a while, it finally said it cannot read RAW files.
I found a utility that is supposed to fix this error, I have yet to try it though.

Well the card might actually be dead then. I would still try and see if you can format it some way. BUt from what your describing it might be done.
What rom were you using. I went throught 2 8gig card recently because of this in a really short span of time. I think it might have to do with the card getting partitioned in a way where part of the card isn't readily read anymore

I bought a new sd card and I formatted it. Before doing so, I did back up app, data etc
I am trying to reinstall the old backup on a Miui new rom. The problem is I copied all the back up but Miui backup doesn't show it.
How can I do this?

Thanks for your reply.
I used Miui back up. I formatted the sd card and is it possible to copy and paste the date to the new one?
i would assume it is possible providing that the folder names stayed intact and you made sure you had and ext3/4 partition for use on the card

I managed to copy and paste it. Very simple and couldn't see the folders when I installed.
I have this problem were the sd card will not take anything on it. If I place a new folder and a picture on it, it erases itself on its own. Or I'll put a album on there and maybe 5-8 songs might appear. I am running passion ics with a 32gb sd card. Just want to know if there is a zip that needs to be flashed or if this is a problem. Thanks for reading!

At first I was a little worried about using this program, but I ran it and it worked for about 2 hours. Out of no where the music that I was moving over kept disappearing and stopped allowing me to copy files from the pc to the sd. I tried formatting the card after that and I was allowed to put the files that were on there before formatting but nothing after that. Is there any other solution to this fiasco that I am faced with!
I have a similar issue. I haven't tried writing anything to my SD card, but it looks like its empty in MIUI and ES file explorers. I can boot into recovery and see that the files are there. Any suggestions?

Hi guys,
I was trying to back up my nova feature to my SD card and for x reason it didn't work. Saving to internal storage work but that would be useless when wiping for a new ROM, I noticed I can't transfer files from my device too ( internal to SD gotta be done by computer). SD card is a 32gb Kingston
Thanks

Hi There
Google has blocked the permission to write to sd card.
easiser solution is download SDFIX from google play.
root required.
Any idea why did they did? I'll try it, thanks

Google seems take it as a security issue.
It happens kk4.4 or later.

Use Samsung's own app for file moving, worked for me with with multimedia files.
Save it to phone memory then transfer to sd card using my files app.

SDFix definitely fixes the issue if you are rooted. Android 4.4 changes the stock permissions, so apps only have read/write permissions to folders that they create and can't write to folders created manually or by other apps. SDFix restores permissions to how they were prior to 4.4. Its less secure, but it allows programs like Titanium Backup to function again.

I have no problems with nova backup to sd on my s4,and its on 4.4 too
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Right now there isn't a way to change the folder where the Nova backups are stored (/sdcard/data/com.teslacoilsw.launcher/backup). What you can do next time is make your backup and then copy it to your SD card or PC. When you do your next reset you can copy that backup file back to where it's expected to be and be back in business. Kind of poor coding that you can't just save it to your SD in the first place...
Omega ROM doesn't have that glitch.
An app called File expert can read/write to external xd card without root. They have sorted this issue out
Sdfix did work guys. I used it to backup Nova setting on ExtSd
