[Q] just have searched! - Touch HD General

sorry man! I have searched for many days, but not found a solution...
I successfully install every kind of android on my BLACKSTONE, and tryed
many kernel..
all seems to be ok since blackstone gone to standby or I press on/off button..
and then
Blackstone won't give up! stay blackscreen! only way is to softreset or remove battery!!
why???
thanx to all

try changing your rootfs or backlight settings
Before you started android, did you remember to turn off auto backlight in windows mobile, also update to the newest radio and winmo rom.
If you want to do these things one by one untill the problem is gone.

turn off auto backlight in windows mobile
Click to collapse
That shouldn't be necessary anymore with FRX04/05 or GBX0A, but it can't hurt not letting WinMo do anything by itself.
In addition to turning off auto backlight in WinMo, try using a different sleep mode.
Mine wakes up all the time (sometimes it takes a few seconds) with sleep mode 3.
Okay, so the battery drains a little faster, but 10hrs is long enough for me, for now.

ok thanx, what i must do? I use last release of ENERGY rom, and automatic light in winmo is disabled, but these not work

try the newest zimage rootfs and initra from xdandroid.com
sometimes you have to wait for a few seconds
btw what bundle are you running

Since 3 seems to be default, try that.
If you don't know how to: it's in the startup.txt. There's a line starting with set cmdline. You insert the command in that line somewhere between the "..."
set cmdline "bla.bla_bla=x pm.sleep_mode=x bla.bla_bla=x"

universal fails to start sometimes

Hi,
I'm very happy with my universal (wifi and vga in pocketsize) only one thing is driving me crazy.
every, say once in 10 times the universal won't start when I press the power button. (after it turning off automatically after a few minutes when on battery power). Worse yet, it doesn't accept phonecalls and smses anymore either..so it already crashed silently. Unfortunately you can't see this from the outside since the lights still flash. I only notice it crashed when trying to start the device.
I've updated to wm6 because I thought it was a wm5 issue, but it wouldn't help. I also updated to radio 1.13 (the orange radio stack as found on this site). But this too, didn't fix it.
does anybody else have the same problem?? This problem renders my whole device unuseful. =^(
thanks!
Reinier
Welcome to the club...looks like no solution on this one yet. Here is a link

Some say it might be incompatibility with the SD card, but not in my case.
Hi,
that doesn't sound too good.
Anyhow, I'll experiment with it some more (what else can one do?) to see what is making it crash more or less (wifi/sdcard/simcard/battery?)
I'll post my findings... maybe we can find some mutual thing which might be causing it
I doubt it is software related since my whole machine is wiped clean and has nothing on it
R
yes, me too...and it seems to get worst as time goes by...anyways, I suggest that if you have any warranty left to send it back for warranty. GOodluck!
thats a pretty good point... ;^)
I'll check.
too bad it's quite vague description:
yes, sometimes it doesn't powerup..
you can already see the technicians there... they try it 4 times, it works everytime (of course) , and they send it back with a sticker saying 'correct'
ah well.... lets not get ahead of time.

What do u mean with PM?
DId u get the solution?
See ya folks
Solution
Check you PM means check ur private messages
A fellow here with the same problems sent his device for repair and the problem was voltage control unit of mainboard
Solution:
1. Install Pocket Hack Master and go to settings and disable the CPU scaling of the device. Then set it to start at startup. Then clock your device at 312 mhz before turning off the device or closing the clamshell. You can always clock it to 520 while using cpu intensive applications. Just make sure to set it at 312 before turning it off.
thank you buddy
Jumanji1212
Did it also work for you? I forgot to add that I am also using an external charger specifically for Universal because Im afraid charging it via miniusb might mess up the voltage control unit more.
Well, i normally charge it with the ac/dc adaptor but not always. Since i deleted spb diary today plug-in and installed the latest qtek spanish rom and radio, the time of the white-screen shorten.

Hello, I have the same problem (Power button does not start after an auto sleep).
My qtek 9000 however gives a blank screen when playing with the PHM speed tests. (When it is plugged in it works.)
Now I am a little afraid to do the "set it to start at startup"
Is there no risk it will never startup anymore?
Can I do this (temporaly) just for testing without the auto startup option?
So: disable CPU scaling and set the speed on 312 and put it in sleep mode.
I need my Qtek so badly that I get horribly stressed with this kind of things.

37 hours and still at 74%

Morning all.
just thought I'd share the above with you. Been 37 hours since I charged my phone and my batery is saying 74%. I've sent maybe 50 texts, had 20 mins of phone calls, push email for about 12 hours and bluetooth about 12 hours.
The secret, is to only turn on things you need when you need them!!
I'm using PhoneAlarm to change the status of my phone depending on where I am/what I'm doing.
it's unlikely that anyone is going to phone me at 3 in the morning or send me a text (I prefer not to be woken up) so at midnight my phone goes into flight mode, and turns back on at 6.30. I don't turn the phone off as then the alarm doesn't sounds. I don't need push email when I'm at work so between 8am and 5.30 pm, push email is disabled. Also I don't need bluetooth when I'm at work (I only use BT to connect to my car)...and so on .
I can easily turn the various functions back on with a button here and there, but the batery life I'm getting far outweighs any inconvenience of having to hit a button to turn things on or off.
Just be in touch that the battery drains faster at the end than at the beginning... so i don't think you would have 37 hours -- 3/4 so you could stay 37 x 4 = 148 hours with your phone...
But i agree... the battery is cool !! I don't even imagine with a good extended battery to 2500 mAh !
Ciao
Fred
I agree it does drain faster towards the end, but still...3 days battery life is more than acceptable.
That's pretty good! The best i got was 59% after 1.5 days.. then it less than 10 hours later i was up to 10%.
Battery life is dreadful.
62 hours

Wow, is that HD running on Kryptonite???
I would love to get a battery that lasts 48 hours
Maybe a stupid question, but how do you manage that the phone switches to flightmode on a fixed time?
Not useless - Add to Tips and Tricks List
I was unaware of this approach for turning various services on and off and to me it makes a lot of sense. I'm not sure I would have seen it if it had been buried in another post... I would recommend this get added to the Tips and Tricks list as its a real winner!

Is this a free program? It sounds like a good idea for me too... turn WiFi and Bluetooth off during the day Mon-Fri and during the night!
Bound to save a bit of power, and then I could hopefully charge every 2 days instead of every night!
Try using http://www.sbsh.net/products/windows_mobile_pocket_pc/phoneweaver.
It's not free but works great and has also large buttons to toggle bluetooth and wireless.
just tried phonealarm too, but somehow it will not switch profile on fixed times?
are you running it with TF3D? if so how do i enable it
also with the default skin pressing the wireless button activates bluetooth and not wireless.
Yeah i tried PA too and it don't switches alarms on time too - how did you set it up ? Also the location in extras dont work - did you get it up and running ?
I use the bugger too much to get anything over a day and a half.

PA won't work with Manila, it only works if the TodayPlugin is running.
For a better solution try SPB PhoneSuite.

There are 2 options to get Phone Alram to work with Touch Flo
Option 1
Install phone alarm
Deselect Manila from the Today screen and select phone alarm
Phone alarm will now be displayed on the home screen. Go into phone laram settings, click advanced and select touch flo support.
Touch flo / today screen can now be toggled from the left soft key.
Option 2
Install SecondToday (free) to give you 2 "Today screens"
I have used option 2, but have recently changed to option 1. Both work great.
Phoneweaver is ok, but the functionality of Phone Alarm is far superior - guess it depends what you want it to do.

AGAIN, PRESS A BUTTON IN WM AND HAVE THE KEYPAD LIGHTS ON.
THEN AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE BOOT ANDROID.
I AM CURRENTLY GETTING 3MA WITH SETCPU
I had to try this twice before it worked but THE KEY IS TO BOOT ANDROID AS SOON AS THE KEYPAD LIGHYS TURN ON!

I just posted this in another battery thread but I think the real key is booting Android as quickly as possible and not really the lights so much as I have achieved similar results just using Exceller Multiple Build Loader app and not even touching the keys/lights. C/P from the other thread-->
Tried different techniques to get better battery and found that even on the same build with exact same setup would give varying results. Here's my setup that I would like others to try and post their results. SetCpu with screen off profile set to 245min/max 100 priority and whatever main profile you like; but use conservative preferably or interactive for best battery performance. Any task killer that auto kills all tasks with screen off (be sure to add SetCPU to ignore list). And here is the most important step, use an auto android booting app with minimum boot time setting. I have been doing some experiments with this and found that if you boot into Android as soon as possible, it seems to give better battery performance as opposed to playing around in WM then booting Android. Have tried this with several WM/Android combos. For the first time ever I'm able to get comparable battery performance out of Android as WM. I'm running a bare bones WM (but should work with and WM rom) and using Exceller Multiple Build Loader app set to 3 secs. Even running several sense builds I was able to achieve 3-7 mA draw during standby according to current widget. Took my phone off the charger at about 6:30 a.m. and it is now 11:15 and I still have 25% battery left after pretty heavy usage on standard battery. This is as good or better than what I usually get from WM! Hope this helps.
This was the one thing that was ruining my Android on HD2 experience. I finally got this step right after a few tries.
I've been using it for two days now, and getting consistent 5-8mA readings on standby. There's definitely something to either booting Android quickly and/or hitting the back button to turn on the LED backlight on the buttons.
I just checked my phone, and it's reading 5mA.
And I don't even have SetCPU on my phone. Should I try it out?
I think HTC winmo sense is the culprit. I disable the sense in winmo and get very low Android battery usage during standby. Sometimes around 3mA.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I also suggest to disable sense and put wmo in offline status.

why should turning off sense be good when it comes to battery usage under android? this would mean winmo and sense are running in the background of android...which is not the fact!

You had to try this 2 times before it worked yet you claim this is the final solution for battery drain problems?
i agree with you guys but let me just throw this observation into the mix here. i've read somrthing here in these forums regarding the sd card that came with the phone had something wrong with it ( don't really remember the exact issue ) and if you swapped it out for another sd card, there would be less SODs and a better battery as well.
i've tested this as i have a 4gb sd card and have had no problems whatsoever. everything runs smooth as silk. and, once again, the battery life is great.
NOTE: i do use the keypads lights on trick as well.

Most of us don't need to do keypad gymnastics to get those same results.
Just use the exceller boot loader and set it for 3 or 6 seconds. Having stuff turned off till you need it is a great way to preserve the battery.

1. Are you using SetCPU with a 245 max screen off profile? 2. Are you disabling WiFi, data and GPS when not using it? 3. Are you using a auto task killer with only SetCPU and Current Widget in ignore list? Also, I don't have 3g in my area but if you do I guess it could account for increased battery drain. If you're in an area that is in/out of coverage, this will cause higher battery drain as well. I get spotty coverage where I work and the battery drain is terrible.
Try mdeejay sense rEVOlution 2.0 androind build with your vbn wom rom - works great !
Try this:
1. switch phone radio off in winmo
2. power off and charge until green light comes on
3. boot winwmo on vbn, then immediately click on EBL
4. boot into mdeejay sense rEVO 2.0
5. turn sense off and use LauncherPro
I get *very good* battery life now with avg 5-7mA draw as evidenced by currentwidget.

no need for keypad gymnastics or other weird and wonderful combinations - before booting into Android, just use KeypadLedControl to force the keypad lights to stay on, then fire up Android using your loader of choice (I use Android Loader, modified to automatically call KeypadLedControl to turn on keypad lights, instead of just letting it run on WinMo startup).
Been rebooting 5-6 times now with consistent low 5-10ma standby current.

The Solution....kind of ;-)
Thx for u'r replys.
I considered all u'r tips and sry dudes it didn't work for me I think the problem was related to the Bangster Build, even though i have been lonesome with my issues.
I changed the LED lib, and tryed to let the LEDs on while booting, set CPU is in condervativ mode/screen off 245min/245max 100% interactiv. And yep, GPS and Wifi where off. I even searched for any SD-Card related Problems in regestry. But Chucky did some great work i think. (i switched again concernig to faster boot)
At some time i think each Leo is different to the other. I changed to Hyperdroid 1.7 with 2.14 Radio and the results are definitely mind blasting.
12 hours on the road, did some surfing, some calls, 2 h musik.
Strange though i used the same kernel and same Radio. Something must have gone wrong by flashing Bangster or something.

Possible soluition to fix 60mA: Enable GPS and wait for full sync

Hi friends.
I found the following coincedence.
When I install new build aparently CurrentWindget shows 60mA in stand by and no way to fix it to 5-7mA as it should be.
The solution which helps me to fix it is the following:
- enable GPS module in settings
- open Maps and wait for it to find where you are located
- go back to homescreen and put phone to stand by
It should be fixed now to 5-7mA current.
Hope it will help everyone.
I can even leave GPS module on all the time after that - standby current stays at 5-7mA level.

Very strange, but very cool if it works for you! I will give it a shot next time I see high battery drain. Thanks for sharing, it will help at least one other person if it helps you.
I've also found that switching Bluetooth off, then back on again, fixes this 60mA drain !
Common misconception: leaving GPS enabled in settings doesn't leave the GPS chip on the whole time. It just means that an app can enable it when it needs to (e.g. when you open Maps). As long as there's no GPS icon in your status bar, it doesn't drain *any* battery.
OT: that trick would be way faster than rebooting! Gonna try if it works for me too.
Really strange solution for this issue. I have the same problem but for this moment have drain about 5mA after quick boot with dualbootloader (wait time 3sec for Android load). For this moment 5mA in standby mode - with any enabled comm modules (WiFi,Bluetooth,GPS).

Why? I use it a lot...
To solve 60mA problem, each time you want to boot android:
1) when you are in windows mobile, lock the phone and turn the screen off by press end call button
2) wait few seconds and press it again to turn on screen
3) you see lock screen, unlock your phone
4) after that boot your android quickly within 10 seconds! (you can do it by creat shortcut of android on your home sceen)
I test it and solve problem for me on both mccm and mdeejay builds!

It was discussed hunderd of times. You dont need to free up mem in android 2.x
It has already a memory management built inside.
The only reason to use a task killer is to close an app that hangs or not properly close itself.
If you continue to kill your processes and backround apps just to free up ram, you will definitively drain more battery becaouse some of that apps will just load again automatically from SD or, when you open again one of them, it needs to load again from SD.

Exactly. And apps not closing properly is still not an excuse for using it. If the app is bad uninstall it or mail the dev to fixit, but don't go around screwing stuff up with a task killer.

Me to....i use 2!
Autokiller on agressive, and a taskkiller....never troubles with drain etc
Or everyone check my signiture for my thread on battery drain solution
I think the OP is really onto something here. I tried this trick & my drain has gone from a steady 55-65mA down to around 5. I'm impressed!
Just one question, those of you that having issues with battery drain what WM do u use? I've recently had a problem on my HD2 (no USB) and i installed a stock ROM. Before i had the VBN Droid Reloaded 2 and with Mdeejay kernel current widget never showed me values above 300mA (witch i believe i only saw that value 1 time). Usually i'd get from 1-2mA to 250mA tops. Now i'll never go below 60mA and i've seen the record of 600mA. Today it drain me from 95% to 35% in about 2 hours. A bit too much for my taste...
I always find if you boot Android with Win Mo fully booted, it's over 60mA, but if I use Exceller Dual Boot to boot Android before Win Mo has finished loading, then it's 5-6mA.
Yea man task_killer - problem
Everything is working for me fine, i am using futureShocks MIUI build, the only thing is when i switch on bluetooth, my battery drain is about 60-80 mAh without bluetooth i have 3-6 mAh... no task killer, no setcpu, with other builds like mdeejays sense roms this problem is not !?
Everyone an idea how to solve the problem ?

(Q) Bluetooth not working and battery dies after 4 hours

Hi!
Long time ago since I was last here but now I'm back and I have a new Windows Phone (last version I used was 6.1).
Love Mango first of all... Realle nice piece of software Using Yuki build 7720 with newest update from Microsoft BUT I still have 2 major problems:
1. My bluetooth wont turn on! It searches for devices for 5 seconds and then turns off again... None of my bluetooth headsets or my bluetooth keyboard will get recognised
2. The battery dies after 4 hours of ligt use - IE no mail sync, low light on screen, no GPS, no Wifi, no BT and still it sucks!
I'm thinking some sort of problem with the radio (using newest version 2.15) but I am not sure! Any ideas? :S
Thanks in advance!

I'm now on 2.51T and battery is good in some ways. You should try trick to solve your battery problem, e.g: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303294
This is the best wifi and bluetooth fix for now http://xboxmod.sylvester20007.com/cabs/tweak/LEO/ (look into WIFI_PLUS)
Thanks for the reply! What are you refering to by saying 2.51T? Is that your radio version?
In regards to the BT issue... What file are you linking to? What does it do?
Lastly I have another question: Is it not possible to share your internetconnection on windows phone? I could easily do that on my old Nokia but this one lacks the funktion
/Anders
Please post questions in correct section.
Sorry about that - Realised my error a little to late Thanks for moving it!

Ok took the chance and installed the BT update you linked me to - Works like a charm!! Thank you sooo much!
The other problems I still have - Those are NOT yet fixed... But yay one down at least!
Btw is there a fix that makes the buttons underneath the screen light up while the screen is on? Right now they only light up when I push them!

Sorry 5.51T(exactly 5.51T.09.29a_22.32.50.10U - for lastest Radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287070) is my Radio ROM, with light use(Gmail and hotmail 1 hour interval check, facebook, games and web surfing) my HD2 can last 15 hours. I posted a link about trick to solve battery drain at #2 post, you can check it out.
Are you talikng about 5 buttons at the bottom of the screen? I don't know how to make its light on when you don't press, i got used to no light on it
In some ways, I think Yuki's Mango ROM is not good at battery, you should try HD2O's one and don't forget to upgrade your Radio, you'll get some changes.
Battery life issues are almost always related to SD card. You may have an SD card that seems to be working fine, but it's actually causing massive battery drain. There are a few things you need to do to make sure your battery drain is optimal.
1 - Install HTC Battery Tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19048691&postcount=19
2 - Do the "camera trick" - start WP7 > turn on camera > press icon to switch to video > wait for auto focus to happen > exit
3 - With wifi and bluetooth turned off, scroll to and select Battery Tool app > lock your screen or allow it to auto lock > a few minutes later, unlock screen and wait for battery tool to refresh. These should be your idle time discharge numbers. Battery Current should be between -4 and -10. If not, make sure you did camera trick and that you've exited the camera... that you don't have anything multitasking. Make sure BT is disabled. It causes -70 drain for me, so I only enable it when I need it.
If you cannot achieve an idle time battery current of less than -10, then it's most likely your SD card. I had a "perfectly" functioning Kingston 8GB c2, but could only get about 6 hours battery life with minimal usage. The current was -200 or greater at its best. I changed to PNY 16GB c4 and my battery current normalized immediately. This was confirmed over several reflashes and hard resets using both cards.
Good luck!
Hi!
I am using a Sandisk Class 4 16 gig card... Should be the best according to the web but I have no idea!
How do I install the battery app? It is not a cab file and when I try to scan the barcode my phone tells me the file is not compatible with WP7 :S

It's a xap. You have to download the WP7 SDK toolkit and use the Application Installer program while Zune is running and while your device does not have the lock screen active.
Problem may still be your SD card. Different batches, different issues. Until you try another card, you'll never know.
Is there a sdk for XP users also? The one on MS's homepage was only for Win 7
/Anders
Just to be sure.

Just asking to be sure
You say, Exit, as in using the back button to close the camera right?
What if you want to use the camera? - Should you reapply this trick or?
Regards Lars Mortensen
You only need yo do the camera trick once, each time you power on the device. It has no impact on future use of the camera and does not need to be running the background. It's a glitch pretty much, that helps us get around poor battery life.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Read this, quite helpful for you, Anders http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=930578

YES IT IS. but your Windows Xp must be SP3.
Solution 1:
Requirement: WP7 SDK, here is the link http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/0/9/6092A6EA-8638-4F4B-BD49-4A8FF77B2E99/WPDT_RTM_en1.iso
Let's do it:
1, Extract WPDT_RTM_en1.iso(using winrar) then search for "baseline.dat"
2, Open "baseline.dat" with Notepad. Now, you can press Ctrl+F(search function) to search for "[gencomp7788]" string.
3, Look below string we've searched, you can see "'InstallOnLHS=1" and "InstallOnWinXP=1". Change 1 to 0
4, Save and close "baseline.dat"
5, Run setup.exe
During the installation, you will see error like "Winphone Emulator ....". Ignore it
Solution 2:
Try this mini SDK http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265846
NOTE: I don't have any Windows XP computer here so that's best I can do for you.
Good luck!
Perfect! Will have a look later on (and look at radio 2.12 also) and report back! This phone will soon be usable
One more thing... Is it a problem that there are no drivers for the compass? I would like to run Navigon software on the phone but as the compass does not work I am wondering if that is a problem?
/Anders
Btw if I install the reg editor I have seen posted somewhere else will I then be able to fix the problem that the sound is very loud regardless of how high I have turned up the volume? For example when I end a call the phone makes 3 loud "beep" sounds but the sound is turned all the way down! If I play a game it does not matter wether I have the sound turned to 1 or 5 - it's the same!

The only solution that worked for me amongst all the options (based on my experience)
1. Tried the camera trick - NOT WORKED
2. Followed the steps below - NOT WORKED
* Boot the phone to MAGLDR
* Select "Reset" option from the menu
* Phone reboots normally
3. Hard reset the phone - NOT WORKED
4. Charge the phone in magldr USB storage option - NOT WORKED
5. Finally, flashed the 2.12 radio, did the camera trick (not sure if its relevant). The battery life has improved dramatically. It lasts more than 24 hours and still running (26% left) - WORKED.
Follow the thread below to download the 2.12 radio

You should not need chevron to unlock, as the ROM is developer(=chevron) unlocked by default. see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19058358&postcount=3974
