[Q] Finding a hidden alarm - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Does anyone have a way of finding an alarm that goes off everyday, but is not listed either in the stock HTC alarm list nor in the list on Alarm Clock Plus App. I cannot find a way to cancel it. I guess in WM I could try SK Tools, but is there something that does this for Androids?
Using a NAND Android on my HD2, which is brilliant, fast and only has this annoying problem.

Sure its not a calendar entry?

Not a calendar
Yes have I tried that, and it is not a calendar entry. It comes on every weekday, but not on weekends, which is an alarm that I used to use. Problem is that I cannot prevent it.

Stray Alarm Clock

Recently my xda has been going off at 11,30am every day, it is the standard alarm clock program included within WM2003, however it is not listed in the panel of times to alarm.
Is there a way of clearing the missing setting from registry?
Its starting to get annoying after a night shift, and its required to be on and near me for important calls and messages.
Thanks
try these, worked for me.

Try memmaid (search forums for memmaid and alarm for precise solution)
You need to run memmaid and look at the notifications, and delete the "alarm" ones as they have got "stuck"
Yes, I had this problem also. You can perform a hard reset, that will solve it but then you loose all your data and it is a pain! So I spent all day trying to find out how to fix it without doing a hard reset, and here are the results:
1. Open the Clock & Alarms app, and click on the Alarms tab. Make sure everything is unticked and unselected.
2. Install and launch MemMaid (http://www.dinarsoft.com/ - Note: MemMaid is shareware that expires after something like 30 days, or you might use another app which allows you to edit the notifications queue), and then press the Jump To softkey and click on the the Notification Queue option.
3. Press the Find Duplicate button, and make sure you say yes to deleting all duplicates.
4. Now you have to scroll through the list slowly, you must find all the ones which have this text in them and check the tickbox: \Windows\clock.exe.
5. Now you have located the rogue alarm notifications and ticked them, press the Delete button and confirm in the next step. Make sure you have NOT ticked/selected any other notifications except the clock.exe ones before you do this step, otherwise it can easily make your phone stop working!
6. Soft reset your device. When it has finished booting, you should notice that it doesn't vibrate madly with alarms for 20 minutes like it used to do before, and you should have a flashing green LED on the right instead of orange
7. Stop using the built-in clock & alarms app if you don't want this to happen again - it is too buggy! Find a replacement alarm app, there are loads of free ones out there!
Thanx all! Specialy to sl9
THANK YOU!!! NOW IS ALL GOOD !
What you mean:
"Find a replacement alarm app, there are loads of free ones out there" (I canot see "there" link for free app).
For all:
Which alarm app you use (whithout bugs) ?
1. SPB Clock
2. Chronos for PPC v. 2.95
3. Phonealarm v 1.52
4. Pocket Clock v. 1.15
or some another app ?
I actually haven't got round to finding a replacement yet, but one thing is for sure: do not use the HTC alarm built-in app any more
I am glad this solution worked for you without hard reset, I could not find anywhere else exactly how to solve this problem so it took me literally a whole day of experimenting - but with good results

How to : Delete an alarm in the Win Mobile standard screen

Hello everybody
I'm sure I'm a bit dummy but I can't remove 3 alarms from the standard screen of WinMo 6
I click on the clock
I Choose alarm
There, I've got 3 items but no way to delete it. And there is also 2 alarms that come from G Alarm and had been removed from it (deleted in G alarm but stil in winmo standard alarm app).
help is welcome.
Thanks a lot
How do you mean? I don't think you can delete them. You can deactivate the alarms by unticking the box to the left of each alarm.
As for myself, I would rather have the opportunity to add MORE alarms. Three is better than the ONE measly alarm in WM5, but really... I don't understand why they don't let us add alarms as we please. It's not like it's hard to implement or anything (reminds me of how Bill Gates once once predicted the need for RAM: "640K ought to be enough for anybody").
The thing is that I come from palm and don't know the real working of alarms in WinMo
The problem that I see is if I use too much Galarm, will I have x alarms unwanted in the standard alarm app and won't be able to delete them.
I don't like unused entries on my pda.
Thanks

Failing Alarm Clock

I have been having trouble with the alarm clock on my D2, and since Uni is about to start and I don't have a standalone alarm clock, it is vital that it functions normally.
Basically, sometimes the alarm just won't go off at all, I had set an alarm clock during my holiday to wake me up so I don't spend the (whole) day sleeping, but at times it failed to ring.
Does anybody else have this problem or is it just me?
if you use igo8 you could have this problem..
Timezone Bug Warning
A major problem with iGO 8 out of the box is the automatic time-zone option. I found that after running iGO 8 my time would change by an hour as well as my timezone being changed. Initially I just corrected these and carried on as normal – but this is where the problems began. You see, Windows Mobile has this 'thing' where if an alarm is turned off after the timezone is changed it still remembers it. You end up with phantom alarms going off even when they are turned off in the alarms setting – and because of the change of timezone they are an hour earlier… I had 12 alarms going off at 5.30am at one point! Calendar alarms are also messed up in this process – I had reminders for appointments an hour after they should have been. The alarm problem was such an issue that I actually did 2 hard resets within a week just to stop them, but as soon as iGO 8 ran again the problem returned. After a considerable number of missed appointments and early mornings I found a way to fix the alarms issue, around the time that Nav N Go announced a 'fix' for the problem.
The problem is caused by entries in the Notification Queue in Windows Mobile not being deleted after they have run. There were two free tools that I used to clear all these old and duplicate entries: pmClean and SKTools Lite. pmClean is a basic tool for clearing out temporary files etc whereas SKTools Lite is more advanced and does a lot more – to view the entries in the notification queue (and subsequently delete the offending ones) go to View / Maintenance / Notifications Queue and remove offending entries under CALENDAR.EXE (for appointments) and Windows\clock.exe (for alarms).
To stop iGO 8 from changing the timezone like it does then you need to follow the instructions here. [make sure you edit the sys.txt in Program Files because if you edit the one on the memory card (like I did initially) then it will not work without a reinstall!]

useless alarm
i had the same issue, however since i upgraded the software to the official latest version off htc website, it sorted it out, so i think it maybe a glitch in the software
I don't think the problem is with the changing timezone, it's just that my alarm won't go off at all...
I am not aware that there are newer updates for the TD2 on the HTC website, I though they were just changes for the ROM, is it on the normal HTC update site?
This is definitely related to the notifications queue, I had this issue (basically my alarm would pretty much never go off in the morning) I installed SK tools and set it to clean up the notifications queue in the night
see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4391994
so that was a month ago, not one alarm failure since
Oh and I use G-Alarm as my alarm clock, check it out, gives many more features than the stock windows alarm
P.
But did you still have problems using G-Alarm not going off?
I believe G-Alarm itself has a workaround built in for the notifications queue bug.
G-Alarm does in theory have a workaround built in for the notifications queue bug (it turns on at midnight to run a clean) but it wasn't working for me, it was no better than the standard alarm for reliability until SK tools was set up to do its thing. I have now actually turned off the G-Alarm notifications queue fix in the registry as I found the turning on at midnight annoying! And haven't had one alarm failure since so figure it wasn't doing anything extra...
P.
Still having trouble?
or have you solved it? if so what was the cause..

Multiple alarms problem

Hi,
I recently installed CHT 1.7.1 and started getting an issue with my alarms where if I turn it off then on again it adds a new alarm on to the existing one (see screenshot showing 4 of the same alarm). It's as if the phone is storing the alarms in a cache somewhere and recalling them even though I only have the 1 alarm set. Also if I change the time of the existing alarm the original one still goes off even though its not shown in the list of alarms. I have to dismiss each one every time which is getting annoying and don't want my work alarm going off when I have the day off work lol.
I have reported this as a bug on the CHT thread but was wondering if there's a reg edit I can do to clear out all stored alarms so I can reset them?
Thanks for any help
