Hey guys,
Ive thought about this for a while and I think I am ready to act but I want to hear some opinions from my fellow Xoom owners.
First off, I've always been an Android supporter, iOS is not an option for me.
I have an Atrix right now, and while I love it, I have always loved the idea of tablets more. I was thinking about selling my Atrix and using the money to buy a Xoom and use that as my main "Data" device. As for a phone, I'm thinking maybe blackberry or a nice text messaging phone will work fine. I'm not the kind of person who needs to be walking and looking at emails at the same time so the portability issue doesnt really bother me.
but go ahead....give me your opinions!
when honeycomb gets google voice, i think it's very possible.

Uhm...well, personally I wouldn't go for it. Only because the Android Phones right now are totally different than the Android on the tablets. The Xoom is very new and has lots of problems, but that is expected.
If you were going to do that, I would wait a bit more until it is a bit more polished. In my opinion, trading in your phone which you love and runs smoothly for a tablet that isnt showing its full color, YET! (which dont get me wrong I LOVE the tablet)
I mean, if you just CANT RESIST, then I would say go for it and get a nice phone that you can text and email and whatever else...which blackberrys are pretty good at, actually the only thing they are good at.
The choice is up to you, and I am gonna say that it is a very hard choice!
Good luck haha

the screen is one of the best thing i love about this device. when you compare it to the ipad2 specs, you can see that motorola went all out on this device.
You gotta have both phone and xoom but only have data on one device and tether. But if I were to only have one I'd stick with the phone and wait it out, the market will flood and prices will drop. The phone is just more versatile and operational for the time being. Even though I love my xoom the only thing that makes it worth 8 bills is that not everyone has it.

For me it's not a yes-no answer. I'll still have a smartphone, but it doesn't have to be a high-end model, since the heavy-lifting data use will be offloaded to a tab. I'm going to have the phone around more often than a tab, so the phone still needs some data capability.
Put another way, the phone can go on a 2-year cycle (no ETF), and the tab can be upgraded whenever, since it won't be tied to a carrier plan.
I've already made this leap. Got a Droid X at the beginning of the year but returned it at the first inkling of Tegra 2 produce, went back to my Droid. When the Xoom launched, I deactivated my Droid and got a dumbphone to go with my shiny new Xoom 3g. I'm on the 3gb plan for now but it looks like I'll be keeping it under 1gb so I'll bump down to 1gb. I bring my Xoom everywhere with me, even have an US Army map bag on the way for carrying it. Its actually become a conversation piece because everyone wants to know what this non-iPad is and what its like and such. Really glad I made the switch. I keep my Droid around as a PMP for the gym and other things but otherwise its all Xoom for me.

I'm just curious to get some opinions on why most of you bought the Galaxy S Tab now instead of waiting for better hardware, Honeycomb or any of the other fated reasons to wait?
Also if you choose to speak up as to why, can you also include whether or not you got it with a contract?
Thanks
Okay here's my answer . I know of nothing coming down the line that is worth waiting for...
The Tab seems to play videos fine, so I have no need of a faster CPU.
The screen is nice, and since AMOLED has failed (thus far atleast) to live up to the power consumption hype, and since I'm not a fan of unnatural "glowing" colors that's not a feature I'm particularly interested in either.
New versions of Android are coming out all the time, so that's never a good reason to wait (would be waiting forever in that case). Also Samsung has said Gingerbread is coming for the Tab. What makes honeycomb more wait-worthy than whatever comes after honeycomb again? I don't miss any tablet-features on the Tab, and the reviews that keep mentioning that Froyo is not tablet-optimized strangely never really mention in what way that is the case. It seems to fit perfectly on a 7" tablet as far as I can tell.
Battery life is very good, obviously pretty much completely dominated by the screen, and I see no reason to believe that's going to improve by a huge margin in the near future.
7" is the perfect size (since it fits in my pocket both in pants and jacket). The Tab is my only phone and does that job very well for my needs. Again can't think of anything coming down the line that's particularly revolutionary here either. The Tab is the perfect form-factor for me.
So I would actually rather be inclined to ask the opposite question. What is coming soon that should have made me wait?
Edit: And yes I got it with a 1-year contract (in Norway). About the same total price as at retail (~$950), except the contract includes 100 MB data per month for free.
Time is all you have in your life, the sooner you get it, the longer you can enjoy it . If you wait, when should you get one because there always will be better one and cheaper too in your future. Also, I predict when Android is optimized for Tablet, no tablet will have phone capability even though not many people like this big of a phone.
I had a galaxy S. Liked the phone but too many problems. The fact I sold my Galaxy S and only paid an extra £40 for my Tab that doesn't have the problems that plague the Galaxy S made it all worthwhile. Plus 7" screen doesn't hurt
Cause I cant stand the Ipad and its big brother attitude.
Because I'm very impatient
I am not an apple fan although I like the idea of the ipad I could never buy an apple. The ipad was to big for my needs, where as the tab is just the right size. I love the android os even though I have only used it for a month now
My need for a tab is to play movies and music, read emails, eboooks, surf the web and txt. This tab does all of this and much more.
I had the opportunity to do some overtime, the cash from which paid for my tab sim free.
And I love it.

My reasons
Ditto all of the above.
Had a tosh folio for a week, quite nice but screen poor and toshiba forgot to mention it wasn't finished! Waited for vega for too long and from what I have seen on the modaco thread today, I am glad I didn't.
Kept playing with the tab and my one concern, the price, got sorted when it dropped to £440.
It is great and i love it(but not in a sexual way!)
If I could pay $650 for a 7" phone/video/camera/music/web/eBook reader/navigation/tether and my two kids could enjoy it (playing zoodles) with me then I would do it Plus the fact that 7" is very comfortable in my hand vs a bigger size tablet.
I have the lightest, I believe, 13" laptop (2.9lbs) and the kids still want the tablet. Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes
I'm just a tech enthusiast and knew there was enough hype within the hacker community to expect that this thing would see some awesome howebrew ROMs and improvements in the near future. I like to mess around with my gadgets rather than settle for what features they came with. Waiting for honeycomb is no big deal for me either. This things works great as it is and cant wait until the first custom ROM gets released which I feel is just around the corner.

I got mine on Sprint. It was $400 if you signed a contract.
So far I love this thing. It's size is perfect for everything when you are at home.
I love anything tech related and I think the Tab has something really good going for it.
It was the right timing for me. I was looking into the HTC Desire HD while i was travelling in Taiwan. I found I love Android (compared to iPhone OS) when i had the HTC Desire. But i "desired" a larger screen. As well, i use the phone mainly for work. When I noticed the Tab had cellular capability, i decided to look for it instead of the Desire HD.
The 7" screen, portability, quick performance and great screen size (for my old eyes) was the payoff.
I dont have a contract as i bought it outright from a local taipei store.

This guy speaks the truth.
You never know when you are going to die (seriously). You can walk outside the door right now, get hit by a car (god forbid) and die. Lighting can hit you when you least expected. A tree can fall down on you. You can get sued by someone else. You can get framed for something you never did. You can get robed. So many things can happen when you least expect it.
So get your Galaxy Tab now before its too late.

Lets hear it for the early-adopter mantra!
And by the way, one reason Apple does so well is that there is a veritable ARMY of early-adopters who then sing the praises so that the wafflers and fence-sitters feel comfortable making a decision..or rather, having that decision made for them.
There's a certain comfort in that, and a certain amount of common sense, but if we were ruled by common sense, we'd still be banging rocks together as race.
man to me this is the best device out there right now,and this is coming from a dude that had every ihone/ipad that apple made.my last apple garbage was the iphone 4,i got tired of steve and apple telling me what i can and can't do with my device that i paid for,i was able to do more with my galaxy tab right out the box when i got did not even have to root/jailbreak it lol.i got the euro model unlock man i will never buy an other apple device ever again, and i hope some one here from sumsung is reading these comments on how not to **** with your customers on the next tab that they make.give us the full functions of the device or you will lose customers just like apple.
I'm going to be totally honest, I bought the Tab just for the hell of it. I wasn't in the market for a tablet, Ipad, Netbook or laptop I just happen to be at Best Buy and ran acrosss the Tab that they had on display. After doing that for about 2 mins I told the rep to get it for me. I also have the Evo and while I love my phone, the Tab is getting a little more love from me. Once Samsung comes out with the new Tab with better specs and the Amoled display im selling this one and get that. Until then I will continue to enjoy my purchase.

I got mine now because I waited long enough for it. I'm sure there will be other awesome tablets that will be cheeper with honeycomb and whatever else will come out but looking at how it is with every other device there will be a way to get those on here too.
I was sick and tired from my WM6.5 device. I had the Samsung Giorgio Armani.
I waited for a Samsung Galaxy with hardware keyboard. Then came the Galaxy Tab and I went to the shop and the moment I was using it I told the sales person I wanted to buy it. Still getting used to the Android environment but loving every moment.
Still looking for a way to get the left and right arrows on my keyboard and all would be perfect.

i just love how great the nexus s (or any upscale android phone) syncs with the xoom. its terrific
your thoughts?
WORLD DOMINATION?? NOOO!!
I am interested in Honeycomb, but not so much in tablets. So I guess I just have to wait untill Honecomb comes to the Nexus S.
It depends on the price. I'm thinking it's going to be 600+ easily.
That said, I'm still not that impressed with Honeycomb, and I don't want to be an early adopter. Google has shown me time and time again, they're concerned first with releasing as fast as they can, and then fixing it later. I want to know more developers are on board before I invest that kind of cash.
I'm pretty set on the iPad 2, unless they don't add any new exciting stuff. I enjoy the "boring" OS and ever since I've switched from iPhone to Nexus S, I still have an iOS craving which will be satisfied with an iPad. I want netflix on my tablet too.

I personally would love to have a tablet. I can't financially justify it, nor do I have a need for a computer that isn't satisfied by my phone of or my laptop (Though I could use a desktop computer), but as a gadget whore I'm drawn to the idea of a new and shiny gadget.
That said, the Android fanboy in my loves the Xoom. I thought the honeycomb demo yesterday was awesome and I want so badly to own one but you make a great point meetagrawal; even now I'm watching Netflix. Once Football season is over, I'm even considering dropping my cable and living off of Netflix so if that were the case, having more access to my queue would be great, especially on the go. In a few months I'll be moving and I'll be the one driving for the 24+ hours its going to take us to get to Arizona since my wife has night-blindness and gets panic attacks when driving in adverse conditions. It would be awesome to be able to hear some good movies or television shows during that trek.

I've already said this in other threads, but I am getting a xoom as soon as they are available (in the uk anyway). I always like to get android devices where the os was made for it first (assuming google controls the updates).
While you get issues (like our nexus s) it's great having the flagship android device as far as the newest os is concerned, because the great far outweighs the bad in terms of getting all the new os features. I think the nexus s with a xoom will make a great companion device. Looking forward to it all immensely.
+1 to world domination!
If I had the money (currently finding a job), I would wait to see which device gets rooted first. I know the Galaxy Tab has dev support and right now, I only know of LG's G-Slate and Motorola's Xoom are the only good tablets coming out. The Dell Streak 7 is something I wouldn't waste my money on.
I already have a macbook pro that does the job for me and really have no need for a tablet right now unless I can program on it which is basically impossible from the looks of it; unless remote desktop apps are smooth as butter, then it might change my mind.
Although, I gotta say. Swiftkey did a pretty good job on making a tablet keyboard. Makes much more sense then having one big fat keyboard.
I honestly can't find any reason to own a tablet right now.
If I had a job that would benefit from it maybe. But selling cell phones is lol.
I'm gonna be buying an Android tablet for sure but will wait until Toshiba, Sony, Asus also release their versions. I don't wanna be locked down by carrier contracts so I hope to see wifi versions of the Xoom and the G Slate.

Xoom for $800? Yikes. Good luck with that Motorola...
Oh yeah, and at launch there won’t be a WiFi-only XOOM tablet, so you’ll have to pay full price for a model with a 3G modem even if you don’t want to use it with Verizon Wireless… and according to the Best Buy ad, you have to pay for at least one month of Verizon service to activate the WiFi functionality.

I thought it was kinda neat at first. I almost wanted one then I started thinking about it and looking at the pictures and video. I saw the hinge on it and how thin it was and I knew that might break easily.
I don't really know what new kind of phone would make me want to get another one. A tablet seems like a neat toy, but after my epic experience, I will not buy another samsung device. I read that there was a rumor about htc getting into the tablet market. That might interest me. I don't want to get another account for it though. I would want a wifi only model. If I couldn't get that then I guess I would get a regular one and only use it on wifi and not 3g.
I saw the new motorola tablet too but I ain't paying around 800 for that! Yeah I could get it cheaper on a contract but I don't want to go that route. I'd just use wifi tether from my shift for the tablet and maybe just keep the phone in my pocket.

Tablets are nice. I've got an iPad from work, and it's replaced about 80% of my laptop usage. The Motorola Xoom looks like it'd be REALLY nice, but the price is just too outrageous, not to mention it sounded like there was a requirement of getting at least a 1 month plan on Verizon in order to use WiFi at all. I'd love it if HTC got into the market with a nice, solid tablet. Something with plenty of metal on it the way most of their phones are.
Bulky
Looks nice, but a bit bulky. Looks to be several inches deep and not comfortable for everyday carry, at least for me.
As for tablets, I have an unofficial 7" Chinese android tablet that I love. The processor is a bit slow, but I bought it mostly for Internet surfing and book reading which it does well.
the new Echo is an interesting idea, but i think most of us who went with the shift won't give up a physical keyboard for two displays.
as for tablets, if you want a cheap and functional tablet, see if you can get your hands on a Nook Color, then head over to the nook forums and see about rooting it, turning it into a fully functional android tablet
$249 for the nook and a few hours getting it set up and off you go.
I am personally not impressed with the dual screen phones. I think they look stupid and I will never trade in my HW Keyboard. I have big hands and the keyboard makes it so much easier to type.

To hell with it. Since when has Kyocera EVER made a phone that was even enjoyable for anything besides phone calls (if even?)
Although, video calls could be pretty sweet if they actually take advantage of both screens. Actually have a big enough preview of yourself to see if anything embarrassing is laying around!

To me it looks awkward and I just wouldn't trust Kyocera.
Very interesting concept and if it shows promise I'm sure HTC, LG, Moto, or Samsung will give it a go.
Apple will probably come out with it and act like they invented it. Then all the Appholes will parade around with dual screen iPhones.
I just happened to stumble across info for the nook color and rooting it and adding stuff to it. It looks kinda interesting. 250 for a wifi version and I'm guessing some time rooting and adding programs. Not too bad. It seems not as powerful as a regular tablet but you can't complain about the price.
Hmmmmm
I did consider getting the Echo by trading in the Shift within the return period, but meh. Too late now anyways. I have a feeling there won't be that much dev work on it if for no other reason than it's made by Kyocera which has little to no third party support as it is on their existing line.
Kyocera is a joke. This phone might appeal to a small market but holy **** it's ugly. And to think it was Sprint's big announcement... an even bigger joke. Wow. It's like Sprint WANTS to lose customers (bumping prices, cutting benefits, no amazing phones to lure people in). Sad, really.

Trying hard to get used to the 16x9. Also, the weight of it at times I really notice after holding it in bed for a decent amount of time. Also the fact I did not get a data plan and it cost me $853. When I know a wifi only version is coming out that will be quite a bit cheaper. Honeycomb is taking some time to get used to. There aren't many apps for it, so I find myself getting bored. All i seem to be doing with it is web and facebook stuff. I think may return for ipad 2.

Of course it's gonna take some getting used to its a new OS. Obviously there aren't gonna be many apps, as it just came out a week ago.
Sitting here looking at an iPad, a Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Xoom.
Xoom is a bit too bulky. Love the screen size. Waiting for some more apps (I know it just came out, but there are apps on the Galaxy Tab that I want on the Xoom).
Not sure the Xoom is hanging around.
mine is going back for sure
then take it back. What makes people think that we care if you choose so and so over something else. You know what you want so get it. Xoom isn't cutting for you then get something you wwill be happy with. No nneed to share with everyone.
I hope HTC makes a large Honeycomb tablet. I completely ignored them after the release of the HTC Flyer because I didn't appreciate the screen size, and it didn't run Honeycomb. However it was beautiful, and even had a unibody design. The Flyer was definitely a nicely designed tablet, and I do want to see what HTC does with a larger device.
They seem to be the only company that creates Android products (well, Motorola too) that focuses heavily on build quality and design. I assume if they made a larger Honeycomb tablet it would actually look up-to-par with an iPad. The silver Xoom somewhat does. This post is somewhat entirely irrelevant =/
the Xoom is supposed to be a media powerhouse. Which is why the screen is so big. It is a bit heavy, but it hasn't botherd me that much in this last week.
My girlfriend said if I return mine I can go to sunfest in florida next month. Sunfest is going to be awesome with lots of big names including sublime with Rome and ziggy marley. I am 1200 miles away from west palm beach where it will be held. I want to go so bad.
I am not returning my Xoom.
For anyone complaining about it I can see your reasons. I really can. But these were all issues I knew before spending 800$ on it. I knew these issues because I spent lots of Time thinking about it and evaluating my options before I payed almost 900 for it.
If you did not do this you are a fool for spending that amount of money without allowing your brain to process information beforehand.
Someone remind me how many apps were on ios when the iPhone launched please.
Already returned mine. It is a nice product its just not ready for the market. The price is ridiculous for what it offers.
Great, since you are both getting rid of your Xooms you can go to a different XDA forum now. Yay.
Is there any reason why this couldn't have gone into the other threads like this? I don't know why the 6 (yes, random number) people with the same nit-picky issues can't hold each other's hand through the return process in the same thread. It's not even buyer's remorse. It's not being able to put your finger on what you want upfront, and faulting the thing you bought for being the way it's clearly advertised.

HEY GUYS I DON'T LIKE THE XOOM, I AM RETURNING IT OKAY. I'LL COME BACK EVERY NOW AND THEN TO TELL YOU WHY I TOOK IT BACK.
I think these types of threads are stupid.
Anyone who would return their Xoom because someone else doesn't like is an idiot. Now if you are trying to get more information because maybe you don't understand how a the platform works that is different.
So if you want us to help you understand how Honeycomb and the Moto Xoom work that's great. On the other hand if you just don't like it no one really cares. The only person I need to like my Xoom is me and maybe my girlfriend.
Complaining about how people post their complaints won't do any good. They will post it regardless... you might as well ignore it and move on. If I actually had a Xoom and didn't like it, I would sure as hell post in a thread (maybe not a new one) exactly why I don't like it.
All that I'm afraid of is that the Honeycomb OS itself will never make it past the "nice-try" stage. I love the Xoom so far but it IS a risky business right now. I am convinced that other HC tablets will push the demand for apps and updated software but can "we" win the fight? The only time I would be sorry to have purchased the Xoom is when support for it stops and it becomes an orphan. Other than that - still have to break the news to my wifey

This is a google experience tablet with a brand new os and your worried about support. Lol
Sent from my Google Phone
Well, I was reminded of the early 90s when I tried to stick with OS/2 instead of giving in to Windows/DOS... Was a short period of resistance!!! LOL
I love my Xoom. No tablet will be able to compare to the Xoom this year..ipad 2 is just big ipod touch 4th gen.the galaxy tab 10.1 is even more of a joke. The only tablet that will come close to the Xoom is the Toshiba tablet.

FWIW, I'm keeping mine.

Complaining about how people post their complaints won't do any good. They will post it regardless... you might as well ignore it and move on. If I actually had a Xoom and didn't like it, I would sure as hell post in a thread (maybe not a new one) exactly why I don't like it.

Ok. That information would be useful if:
- Your Xoom was suffering from a defect of design (iPhone 4 antenna) that is probably shared with other Xooms.
- If in your research of how the product was understood to work, you found something nobody else had, or were commenting about an issue to help bring about a consensus.
- If there was some way of showing whether or not you were a knee-jerk purchaser, or someone that bothered to take 2 minutes and Google the Xoom before you bought it. This point has been exhausted, but buying a first generation device with an OS whose official innards weren't released to the overwhelming majority of developers even two weeks ago isn't for everyone. It's your own responsibility to research a product. The Xoom is exactly what Motorola said it was, and every issue everyone has ever posted other than nuances to the software was a click away from before the thing was even released. If someone wants to make threads about how stupid they were for spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on something before checking it out, I'll thumbs up those all day.
TLDR - Some of the Xoom's features were advertised as "released in the coming weeks" before the product's release. This is not news, or worth sharing as a reason for your return to the store.
Edit: Just thought of something. The video playback is annoying and was kind of a surprise. I'll totally give you that one. But with some playing around and effort I'm really satisfied with the quality.
returning it for ipad 2 .
Stop complaining about buying an incomplete device in other sections and post them here. Getting tired of unhelpful info being thrown around on XDA.
Edit
I love my xoom and would never return it, just getting tired of stupid post and tools with no experience lol.
My only remorse is that I didn't buy it on the first day of release.

I am still on the fence. Just got mine a couple of days ago. I have had a handful of problems with apps FC'ing. What I think is really dumb is the case that Staples sells puts the power plug on the bottom so you cant use the Xoom propped up and have it plugged in at the same time.
I am also not convinced yet that I am a good candidate for a tablet. I create a lot of content but don't consume a lot of content. I still have to grab my laptop to do photo editing, faster text editing, video chatting (other than the GTalk app). I don't think a lot of my issues are specific to the Xoom or more Android 3.0 compatibility issues.
I think the vast majority of problems will be sorted out soon but I am not sure I need to pay full price to be an early adopter yet.

Yes, but then the holes for the camera arent in the right place, plus the case is just weak, doesnt hold well and the Xoom slides down and turns the volume down. The case is just a bad design.

Love mine, don't plan on selling it anytime soon. And once Honeycomb matures, this thing will be a beast!
I'm about to return my xoom, primarily because the touchscreen stopped responding. Which is a gigantic problem on a buttonless device!!!!!!!!!
I think I am going to go for my money back, and possibly buy the 16gb version when it comes out to save a few bucks.
I am tempted to get an iPad2, which makes me feel like an asshole but all the good apps are on there now. However I am learning java and will hopefully have time to write some apps soon, thereby making an empty app store more of a positive than negative.
Before anyone flames me for thinking of getting an ipad, its just cause I feel like its the one form factor device where I might not care as much if its locked down (of course I will jailbreak it on day one if I get it, and will be dual-booting android on it sometime after the ASOP comes out, google...)
If all I want to do with this device is read/watch/consume content, and ipad has all the content right now, it kinda makes sense. And I am confident the ipad2 could be an awesome honeycomb device. With the amount of sales it has had there should be enough interest in that as a project. Enough to give the google all the more reason to hold off on releasing the source code. Dammit..

Nobody will flame you. Its personal preference. Some ppl like changing devices to fit there pref and some choose to use their device as just consuming data. Don't worry. This device will eventually run stable. We just have to wait.
Do you know me? What should you care if I flame you? The only time I would care if you buy an I pad would be if you bought it with MY money.

I don't know if I got a better xoom than most if the people here but I am freaking loving this thing. The screen is beautiful, the white's are actually white, something I have not seen on anything except the Apple devices. I get no lag whatsoever on my home screens after oc'ing to 1.5 governor set at interactive, and the stereo speakers are really nice. I absolutely love this thing. I got a sweet car dock from a dealer in the UK so I can use it as a bad ass head unit in my car, and when its hooked up to my system with great speakers and 2 12's in the trunk it sounds as good or better than my gf's iPhone 5, something I have never found with any other android device, even my inspire with srs sound. Yes, it has some bugs but for what I need it to do it does it wonderful. I am using it as a complete laptop replacement. I am actually thinking of selling my macbook pro. And I think we are not gonna get many people posting here about their gripes with the device because...
1. They want to start their own post for attention/tolling
2. They don't use the search button
3. There is far to much effort for them to actually read through a forum for the appropriate place to post

LMAO, i hate me some trolls, im made this post hoping it would attract them all but i guess i was wrong lol. stupid people. guess they never used a forum before.
I regret buying the Xoom because I should have waited for a tablet that is thinner, lighter, better screen, working micro sd slot, working 4G and has a pen input, a nornal micro usb that is rechargeable, and most importantly can play high profile .mkv 1080p without needing to do any conversion.
How come no company can do it right?
My biggest question is:
How come no European country make any tablets?
If Germany and Italy can create Mercedes, BMW, Farrari and Lamborghini, they can certainly make a measly sub $1,000 tech device.
keep on waiting. wait on, while we enjoy out Xoom. the best thing invented since the internet. Xoom, Xoom, Xoom...
May I offer these words of encouragement to anyone who has bought a Xoom but who hasn't been involved with Android and modded ROMS before?
The out of the box is not overly impressive when compared, as it inevitaly will be, with the iPad. It is disconcerting to have Forced Closes on a device costing what it does as regularly as one does. And there is not much eye-candy included either.
However, the hardware specs are so good that I have little doubt that the Xoom will be the equivalent of the HTC HD2 (which if you don't know started as a Windows Mobile 6 phone, got Froyo and then Gingerbread and now dual boots into Android or Windows Phone 7!) once the developers get their hands on the source code.
Hang onto your Xoom and you will see in the weeks to come that it will get better and better and, instead of having a gadget which is all shiny and cool for the first week and then becomes old news, you will have a gadget that keeps improving as each new ROM is released.
