[q] help needed for an bricked hd2 - HD2 General

Hello everybody,
I have here an HTC HD2 (not mine) without Windows Mobile but with an darkstone SuperRAM 1.5 Fryoy ROM installed.
The original problem was that it produced the "android.process.acore" message.
After trying to remove the main Gmail account the phone gave some more trouble:
- when starting, the white screen with green HTC comes up BUT ONLY when connected to USB or charger. Even with full battery the white screen comes and go within 2-3 seconds.
- when the white screen works, I get an boot menu where I select no 2 Boot AD SD
- When booting I get on the left side the boot status in white letters with in red letters "SD initrd open failed" continued with more white text ending GO GO GO!
Seems to me something is missing on the SD card
Any help is welcome since I don't have any experience with HTC. I'm using Galaxy S with Darky ROM.
Thanks
Grz Mark

How do I do that?
I can't get into the phone itself (internal SD)

@ MTM
As I mentioned I have absolutely no experience with flashing HTC phones. Samsung gave no rpoblems.
So all terms used here are new for me And using Google is no option, much confusing and too many posts.
But the battery method gave no help. Now and then it works without USB/charger connected but most of the time not.

If not...end of conversation as is nearly impossible to give instructions through a third person (that person being you)
If the phone is in front of you...tell me in a few words what is it that you want to do? Install anew Android program? Install WinMo back in the device?

OK sorry for misunderstanding!
Yes, the phone is in front of me and I want to re-install AndroiD on it.

This is where it's going to get trickier.....NAND Android or SD card Android?
If this question made you wonder about life and the mere existence of the human race ...do me a favor....Do you like to read? I hope so because you are going to have to read a lot to learn the difference between these two types of Android ROMs.
Now if you know what I'm talking about...choose a Built or ROMD and by following the instructions..flash away either using NAND or SD card method.
Let me know if you have any questions concerning this post ASAP 'cause I'm about to leave for a couple of hours.

I've read some stuff about this phone.
I need Android on the SD (AD SD).
If you can tell me what or which rom is the best for this phone?

Hey there retro man all you need to do is a recovery. Turn the phone off then turn it back on but keep holding the power button down until MAGLDR comes up and use the volume up and down buttons to scroll up or down and look cor the recovery option. Use the send/call button to select and the end/power button to back out of any sub menu to get back to main menu. Select the recovery option and the Pbone will do a hard reset of the Andriod ROM.

@ T-macgnolia: I did the recovery many times but with no result.
@ MTM: I will try installing that NAND version you mentioned, it looks very nice. I'll keep you informed... THX

Sorry to hear the recovery did not work. It is odd to me it didn't but who knows. If you flash a new Andriod ROM it should fix the problem though. Keep us informed.

Well, I finally got it working
One very important thing is that I need Windows ActiveSync to get the HD2 connected to the PC. Even without WM installed on the phone you'll need it ...
CoreDroid is working fine now.
Thx for the help guys.

Could you not get it to use the USB flasher in MAGLDR to work or connect via USB in no kind of way using MAGLDR? If so I bet some how the drivers for MAGLDR never got installed properly to yiur USB port you were using.

Big Problems after Android testing

I was trying darkstone HD2froyo. After that i wanted to go back to Winmo. But in Winmo Sense did not load anymore. So i made a Hardreset, but the problem didn't go away.
I decided to flash a new ROM. After flashing i first could use my HD2 normally. But after a while it stopped responsing after going to sleep. Also a Hardreset didn't solve the problem, rather it became worse. First it stopped booting on the orange Windows screen. Now it stops on the white HTC screen, where it says "quietly brilliant".
Is there anything more i can try?
honestly I always turn off sense and revert back to titanium before running android. something about haret makes it run wonky. the devs say haret shouldnt effect your rom as it isnt altering anything.

I had this problem once too.
Fixed it by removing Android from the SD card, hardresetting WinMo untill it was fully functional again, then plug in the SD and reinstall Android from scratch.
It could be that some files on the SD interfere with Sense from loading..
Good luck!
I have the same problem. but, I flashed mine to another WinMo ROM, now the problem disappeared. I am just waiting for a full version Froyo to flash. Not trying another Android until then.
Did you flashed a ROM that has already worked stable on your phone or did you use a new one? Maybe its a problem of the new ROM and not of Android...
Sometimes (at least for my problems with Android) it also helps to 'cleanup' (backup data, format and reload only needed data) your SD card.
Good luck...
I had the same problem 30 min ago, I had Artimis v25 WWE on a 2.10.50.19_02 Radio..
I fixed the problem by,
* Removing SIM and SD Card
* Hard Reset device
* Task 29'ed it
* Flashed new Radio
* Flashed Miri's rom v17
Now I'm good to go again and didnt touch my android i had on my SD Card,
the only reason i still want WinMo, is because of the .avi playback... Android doesnt seem to be friends with .avi or divx extensions
Thanks for your responses, but i think my HD2 is dead. I can not boot into Winmo anymore. I removed the SD and the SIM, i made a hard reset (several times) but Winmo is not booting. All it is showing is the orange Winmo screen and the progress bar.
/edit
I can not execute Task 29 because i can't make a Active Sync connection anymore.

I do not know what have caused your phone get brick, but afak there are some android rom which have not root access. Those roms writes some info directly in your phone memory instead of the storage card. I am currently running the desire v5 which have root access and all the information from Android program or phone tools remains at the SD but not in the phone, so removing the SD is enough for make disappear all Android traces.
I do think that in your case you are using a ROM which writes some information directly in the phone. Just my try.

[Q] android stop working

Okay this is my first ever thread so pls dont bash on where its posted. So the problem is, is that my android on hd2 would stop working after I reboot my phone. Idk why but it just hangs at the boot screen, which is white and has HTC on it. This has happened with every android rom I use and I can't even find answers when I google the problem. I'm using the htc energy rom and a 32gb sd card.
Strange i have exaclty the same! i updated to MccM HD 3Beta two days ago. Ill try another now and see what happpen
Questions belong in the Q&A Forum
No bashing just a friendly bit of advise for future reference.
Mark.
I've been going through different android roms and everytime I reboot into the wm energy rom I can't boot back into android. At this point I'm afraid to turn of my hd2, but I need to so I can recalibrate my battery stat.

I’m using HTC HD2 T-mobile v and also I have the same problem,
What kind of details will help u?

Android was smoothly worked before the problem.
And I feel it was not stable with the SD card, for example i put some files on it by using the USB and after I check them from the phone not all are there.
And the problem began when the android said "save remove for SD card"
After second it shakes. I remove the battery to reboot it and it is just can't complete booting to android. It is stop at HTC white start screen.
For me the same,
I use a Android rom and when I launch Android, it doesn't leave the HTC screen. I kept it running all night long, but it didn't work. All my contact and text messages are in Android and now I can't reach them anymore, what should I do?

i make a temporary Solution =P
i replace all the "SDcard/Android" files except "data.img"
because "data.img" contain all data we build
try it and give me ur feed back ^_^
I have problem booting to andriod too, since yesterday morning, i was using android, the screen was freeze, so i restarted the phone and reboot to android. So as usual, i went to the android folder and trying to boot to android, then i got this error message "The file HARET cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannt be found. If the proble persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file." I have no idea why this happened all in a sudden. so I've tried many times and restarted my phone to see if it would help, but it didn't. then I thought maybe the android wasn't updated, so I went back to the forum and found the updated version, but mine was discontiuned. I downloaded a new build and I erased everything on my SD card and gave it a try, but the same thing still happen. I still got that error message. would anyone know why? I'm desparated to go back to android.

plz help!

i just got my htc hd2 cause someone stole my old one, on my old one, it was easy 2 put android on the sd, with my new hd2 no rom will work, it loads, but when android turns on it will lag, and apps crash and say force close, and the market wont work, i tried this and mcc's 4.5 and its the same thing happening, what should i do?
Have you tried a full wipe in clockwork and then installed? Do that as your first option and if that doesn't work then Task29, reflash MAGLDR/cLK then clockwork and then your ROM.
im noob, i dunno what clockwork is and how 2 do that? and i never used mgldr/clk on my old hd2, i just did a simple drag and drop onto my sd card, then flashed it, and it always worked fine, now when it works, theres always problems, also, do you know how i can reformat my sd card? ty for help, appriciate it!

If you don't know all that stuff... you should not be trying to root or ROM yet. Go check out T-Macgnolia's post. You shoulld really read up on it before you monkey around with your phone.
Sounds like he's running from the sd card, not NAND. Have you flashed HSPL and radio yet? Please look around the forums. There are some excellent guides to get you started

Yeah you need to install HSPL and a new radio. Again, there are several guides on how to do this. Search around a bit. One thing though, if it was me, I would just install on NAND and bypass windows altogether. The guide linked above should tell you all about it and how to do it.

I thought I'd post here since I'm having a problem with android install and I'm a noob as well (probably more noob than the person posting here). I tried installing nand android on my HD2 and followed the steps exactly. At least I'm pretty sure I did. I installed MAGDLR, then the recovery, and then android. Everything seems fine when booting except it just hangs at the HTC screen. I left it at the HTC screen over night since I heard the first boot would be long. So now I am wondering what are my options. I wanted to install WM again so I can retry the android rom install but since it stuck at the HTC screen, device manager doesn't see it. I didn't brick it did I? Thanks for your help in advance!
I followed this thread.

Couple things, did you first install HSPL and radio? Those go on before anything else. Second, how did you install the rom? Through usb or through recovery? Lastly, if you flashed via recovery, how did you transfer the zip to sd card? CWM has been known to corrupt files during transfers. I would recommend using a usb card reader or through magldr's usb mount option.
Actually one last thing. Make sure you have selected the correct recovery size. A ROM requiring 150mb will work on a 400mb partiotion, but not the other way around.

It's actually MAGLDR that corrupts files, not clockwork.
It's most likely that you don't have the right partition size though. You can change the partition by going to your clockwork file on your PC, opening it, then look for a file 'flash.cfg' and right click on it and open it in a text editor, then editing the line "system ya | 150" to whatever the ROM needs. The '150' will most likely be 150, 300 and 400 etc. so just change the numbers and save it.
ok i will try and do nand, what is one of the best nand to use, ty so much for help.
Hmm maybe you're right skelly, not sure. Either way it's best to use a card reader.

I would have always said one of the CM versions... great ROMs. Finally tried MIUI this week in preperation for putting it on my woman's G2 (always thought it looked like a girly ROM). OMG I'm hooked! I don't think I can ever go back to CM again. It's blown me away.
But you cannot go wrong with the popular CM ROMs. I tried the Sense one also for the eyecandy I love... but none of them ran smoothly for me.

$20 to walk me through Android REinstall

I had someone install Android direct to the phone (NAND), and wipe out Windows altogether. I'm trying to reprogram because after working fine for 5 months, the signal goes in and (totally) out randomly.
Sooooo, I've got root, aMAGLDR V1.3, Kernel 2.6.32.15, and I'm running ROM Manager...but I don't know what the hell I'm doing, really. Oh, and I downloaded some ROMs to my microSD.
And there's a catch. My USB port is totally loose now, so we need to do this without plugging in.
Is it possible?
If I boot into aMAGLDR, and I choose
1. Boot WPH, I get: WPH not installed
2. Boot AD SD, I get: SD Kernal Open Failed
3. Boot AD NAND, starts my old crappy ROM
4, 5, and 6 are USB (non)options
7. AD Hardreset: Do you want to erase all data? No, I don't.
8. AD Recovery: Invalid boot image header
9 Tetris: Press Enter to start, and then it doesn't start, and then I get sad.
If someone walks me through this (here, pm, Skype, Google Talk, Facebook, phone, whatever) I'll Paypal ya $20. If a bunch of people post the right answer, I'll split it, but don't fight over it. This is meant to be a fun little challenge, and a way for me to learn a little.
So, the race is on. Or is it?
You got magdlr installe. Do you have the recovery installed too? that would be the next thing you would have to flash and not to need a cable. the rest is easy and dont need a cable but you do need your sdcard. Being that you havent stated whether your phone is a eu model or a us model I will take the chance and say its the us model, next question is do you plan to use a ext partition of the sdcard? If you are then you need tpartition the sdcard from the recovery partition (CWR) after you have then you can copy the rom of your choice to the sdcard on your computer, then insert the sdcard into the phone and then flash the rom. if you dont plan to use an ext card, then skip that step and just copy thre rom onto the sdcard, flash and reboot.
A loose usb means nothing as long as it work thats all that matters, plus if the usb is loose then you have a bigger problem, how do you plan to recharge the phone?
U have milion solutions on forum for ur problems but if u really need help pm me i will give u skype or gtalk and I will most likely solve that for you cause i played a lot with my HD2

Can't use rom manager with magldr, if you run it it will break the cwm instal, and I suspect you already did hence "8 ad recovery" not working.

It covers clk, recovery everything. No usb needed.
The only thing is once you boot into recovery go to mounts and format all that has a format option. After you format everything, power down remover sd card and transfer your rom onto it. Then power back on and boot into recovery again and flash rom, reboot and enjoy !

Not only does this appear to be a rather rude response (don't know if that's what you intended) but this is also a rather pointless thread. There are countless guides on how to install NAND Android (my favourite being this one) and if you had done any research you would have known beforehand that ROM Manager and MAGLDR don't work well together. I really don't know what showlyshah means when he says that ROM Manager now supports MAGLDR because as far as I know it isn't true and there would be loads of threads about it.
It's not a rude at all. I've done tons of research on these forums.
The problem lies in the fact that those of us who are not programmers don't have a base level of knowledge that is assumed in these forums. Couple that with all the acronyms that are new to us, and it's a puzzle to figure this stuff out.
Every time I program a new device I say, AHHHH! That was sooooo easy...once I knew the steps. Until then, it's impossible.
Have u do it or not ?
Here's where I'm at. I followed that guide. THANK YOU so much-I hadn't seen that one before.
I tried to install a ROM after I installed clk, and got stuck in a loop. At least I'm gettting a different result.
I've started over, and I've got CLK on the phone now. Now, Which ROM should I install?
Thanks for your help.
Updated update.
The rom I tried to install is HyperDroid-CM7-Licking-Lobster-v5.6.0-cLK-signed
When I started my phone, it just goes back and forth between a screen with an "H" on a twirling cube, and that splashing into the Android dude...and splashing back. Left it for 45 minutes.
Now, clk says it installs, but when I start, I'm back to the Android/H loop.
Like I said, I need someone to walk me through this.
Reinstalled. Same loop. Trying the Nexus Rom.
If I try to boot through HBoot to NAND I get:
Normal boot ...
ERROR: Invalid boot image heador
R u using the correct model(EU or tmobile)?

t mobile USA cut their own deal with HTC, to make a hd2 with double internal rom and a little more ram. (And in teh process gave their customers a device with an insta-kill switch, which they no doubt regretted when thousands were returned bricked in teh first few months of release)
if your hd2 has red+green end+send keys, and says 't mobile' beneath the earpiece, its a 'tmous' (T MObile US) which is slightly different to teh rest of teh worlds hd2's.
If you have white keys, you have a regular hd2.

[Q] Completely lost.. phone doesn't connect to pc W8

Hello, Can someone help me !
Few years back i flashed me hd2 to an android ROM.
Months back i tried to install another ROM paranoid android it only showed me the loading screen and stayed on that for hours so i gave up.
i was trying to get the original ROM back on it from windows and since i cleaned the paranoid android, my phone won´t connect to my pc
Activesync4.5 doesnt work since i got windows 8 it something with compatibility i had windows device manager on my pc but that did not work either. I have been searching every where to get it to work but really can´t find anything is there anyway i can install the stock rom with out connecting to my pc ? i have magldr and cmw on it and hspl2.
If u need more info dont bother to ask hope u guys can help me out of this current phone is a piece of crap!
Thanks
Greetings
You can do that by downloading a compatible stock ROM, renaming it to LEOIMG.NBH, putting it on the root of your SD card and then rebooting into boot loader.
But that means removing hspl, as well as being stuck on windows mobile until you can connect your phone to your PC.
P.S: This phone is not a piece of crap.

But that means removing hspl, as well as being stuck on windows mobile until you can connect your phone to your PC.
P.S: This phone is not a piece of crap.
