[Q] How to enable 840x480 video shooting in Windows Mobile 6.5 - HD2 General

Hello,
I tested some android builds and saw that some of them can shoot video in 840x480, the native screen resolution on HD2. That also looks nice on widescreen displays, at least more nicer then 640x480.
I wander, is it possible to tweak some registry settings to allow the camera to shoot videos at this resolution in windows mobile?

[bump]........

aah, i gues the correct resolution would be 800x480. anyway can it be enabled in winmo?

PDF reading at 640x480 vs 320x240 devices

does 640x480 resolution actually allow you to see more text vs 320x240?? Or is it still the same crap as Blueangel, just sharper ?
i find that at the smallest acceptable zoom, in landscape mode, i can see only about half the page width on blueangel.

Video recording at 320x240 on the S200

Hi ! Is there a way to record video at 320x240 with the Prophet ? (my unit is the S200). Possibly by using software or something ? (normally the max resolution for video recording on the S200 is 176x144, which is kind of strange considering that S100 and other HTC/Qtek even older models are capable of recording at 320x240 resolution)
Many thanks.
anybody ?
Coolcamera can switch resolution up to 640x480.
Unfortunately the framerate drops to 10fps @320 and 4fps @640 what is not so great.
I am wondering also why other devices are so much better with video..maybe therer is a different solution out there using also the Intel graphicsprozessor onboard.
If anybody has a better solution i am interested in it also.
there was a bug once
before i upgraded ROM it showed 320x240 video resolution option but did record in the small (140x80 or sth). After upgrading I thought they would fix it but instead they just removed the option!!
are new's about de SW to use a 320x240 video resolution ??
use CoolCamera, you can use 320x240 but the framerate will probably be low. I found that framerate depends especially on SD card speed. So the SD card is the bottleneck. If you use hi-speed SD card framerate should be accetable. Good ligting is also very important

Video Capture Encoder

Hi,
I developed and app for win.mob.6 for video capture live streaming using direct show filter. WMV9 encoder has very low performance of framerate no more 4 fps with lower res.
I am testing the app on HTC touch dual. I tried to enum all filters availables, but I found only WMV9 Encoder. The original app cam coder can create 3gp file with h263+amr-nb. I'd like to know how is possibile this !!! no h263 filter encoder are available.
I am looking for an htc WM5/6 model that can capture video frames encoded to 15 fps with a mid res 170x140.
help please.
thanks
Hi fala70,
I am sorry but I couldnt quite understand what it is your current status.
Have you developed the application and it is working or you would like to do it now?
What do you mean 'original' application. Are you based on an open source example or something?
Nice subject though!
This issue has been discussed quite a number of times (I asked the same thing a few months ago) but no resolution as come out so far. I think HTC does not allow its "private" encoders to be "enumerated".
My status it that I want understand if is possible to use an other codec encoder different from WMV9. WmV9 is too slow.

Diamond VGA DVD video Conversion???

Most of the programs I have seen or used for converting videos like DVD's etc to run on mobile devices want a pixel ratio, ie 320 X 240 etc... I have seen a few that are used for psp or ipod that are device specific.
What video conversion program best suites the new Diamond VGA devices? Is it considered a 320X240 device?
Before you flame me to search, i know I would if it where me, I looked through all 9 pages of the diamond forum here to see if it had been posted. If i missed it, let me know.
Thanks,
Curious G
Diamond's screen is 640x480.
640 x 480
You can use Total Video Recorder to resize to any media. Search it in We do not support warez!. Register first. Thank me later

720p movie recording in HD2

as hd2 have snappy 1ghz capable to emulate psx i think its not a problem to force it to record movies in 720p quality. built in camera is also capable to do that so.
so, is it possible?

In a word, no.
ok ! but can you explain why ?
is that the fault of windows mobile 6 ?
7 mobile can do a thing for make it work or not ?
Thanx...
I think the true power of the HD2 won't be revealed with the Win Mo 6.5, my guess is that when Win Mo 7.0 comes out we might see what the HD2 is capable of and maybe a few tweaks here and there.
It simply doesn't have the drivers.
That has nothing to do with the version of Windows Mobile. For whatever reason (probably time or money), HTC decided not to put the necessary drivers on the HD2.
It's as simple as that.
I managed to install CoolCamera for HiRes Video-Recordings!
I managed to install my old CoolCamera version from my magician.
As you know, this software is able to record high resolution up to
1280x960 Pixel in MJPEG format. On my magician it works with the
highest resolution, unfortunately the device is so slow to record
a adequate framerate. (http://www.ateksoft.com/features.html)
Well on HD2 it starts and shows the camera preview, but I cant
access the settings because hd2 has no hardware pd-keys.
Problems:
- Preview is upside-down
- autofocus seems not working
- Cant control it without hardware pad-keys
Maybe a beginning..
Why don't you try SOTI PocketController (do not pirate, will almost certainly contain trojan) or MobileMe (freeware, preferred) and use your keyboard arrow keys ?

There's simply no point. You won't see any difference in quality between 720p and 640x480 due to the quality of the camera which is... mediocre.
If the processor is up to the job you will see a difference.. We are talking pixels here... The more the better..
