Honeycomb music app syncing - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Its been reported practically everywhere that the music app 3.0 can now sync your music with google's cloud server when using it with gingerbread 2.3.3, I don't know if I'm a special case but I am using Ultimate Droid [froyo] and have also been able to sync my music to the cloud. After almost a day of syncing, I check the jumper app included, started the peer, tested the logs and boom all my music was on the cloud. I deleted off my sd card started the music app and boom my music was all there.
Now waiting for a desktop client to sync hopefully google doesn't forget about Ubuntu users!
-Just wanted to share! seems everyone is reporting it only works with android 2.3.3

Google Music Cloud

I saw a few posts on Phandroid and other websites about certain phones like the Evo 4g on CM7 that had installed the music.apk file from honeycomb and enabled Google Music Sync. Is there anything anyone here can do to enable this in ours? I'm willing to help and not just sit around twiddling my thumbs. I'm a noob but I do have the Android SDK running as well as eclipse set up and I have a Windows 7, OSX and Ubuntu so let me know.

It an older beta version that only syncs what's on the phone already to the cloud. No one to my knowledge has found a way to sync from a PC to the cloud yet, and that's where most people store their entire music collection.
If you want to easily stream your music collection on your PC, then try audiogalaxy.

So we can't access the music from the cloud with our xoom?

That music app will sync but it is only seems to work on froyo & gingerbread versions of android. I have synced my music then removed my music folder from my sd card and I am still able to stream all of my music from the cloud.
So far, no one has been able to get honeycomb to do this. The .apk will install but, our version of the Android OS will not sync to the cloud. You will notice that in the accounts sync, there is no music sync option in your google account.
I'm sure this will be addressed eventually. After a few days of syncing, I would love to be able to steam my cloud music from any computer or device.
That's what I thought I synced everything with my evo then deleted my music and was able to play all my music and since the app was pulled from honeycomb I thought I was going to be able to access it on my xoom.....which would be insane!

[Q] google music not syncing?

so i got my google music beta invite last night and i was all excited. i got all of my music (about 1,300 songs) to sync to google and i'm able to see all of my music and play it from the cloud on a pc via web browser.
i have the updated version of google music on my transformer and it opens up and i've connected it with the correct gmail account. the problem is that none of my sync'd music is showing up. i've hit refresh, i've messed with the settings and unchecked/checked things but i've got nothing except for the 4 albums that come on the transformer. what's the deal?
i know its the right gmail account, and i know the music is in the cloud and i can play it...just not from the transformer. any tips?
I was having the same problem, and this is what worked for me. Go into SETTINGS, click on ACCOUNTS AND SYNC. Under manage accounts, click on your google mail account, and click on SYNC MUSIC. After a few minutes, your music should show up. Another person had to downgrade their music app, and then update again. Hope one of these works for you!

that did it! thanks a lot!
seems to me Google should put this in the troubleshooting or instructions page. i turned my auto sync off last week to save battery life, so i guess if i have it on, then my music would've shown up with no problem. still....

Mine doesn't either. I just got the 3.1 update the other day and it won't let me install from the market because it thinks it is already up to date.
No music sync option under my account either. Anyone else have any ideas?
Your google account has to be approved for the beta before the sync option will show up in the account setttings.
Try installing it from the Market on your PC (market.android.com). I dont know if its a bug for everyone or just people runnning cyanogenmod, but it wouldnt sync or even give me the option to until I went to the pc front end and installed it. Hope this helps anyone reading this in the future.

3.1 update not syncing Google music?

Anyone else having issues with Google Music not syncing after you have updated to 3.1?
Yep. Tried this afternoon to play some music but it said my library was empty. I looked in the Accounts & Sync menu and Music is no longer listed as a sync handler.
Most disappointing.
No issues here... everything is syncing up fine

Update your Music app and restart. If that doesn't help then clear Music app data and restart again.
Anybody have any updates on this?
I just got my galaxy tab 10.1 and when I open Music it says my library is empty even though I have tons of songs synced. Google Music works perfectly on my Nexus One - how do I get it working on my Tab?
Thanks!
EDIT: Fixed it. I cleared Data and rebooted. When I opened google music, I could see the Setting option in the menu (was not there before). It is working great now!

Syncing

I am having a problem with my synced account. It recognizes that my account is synced, but my music in Google Music player did not sync and apps from the market that I have bought on my Droid are showing up in the market with the price next to them rather than "install."
When I first started up my tab I was having problem with the wifi, so I skipped the initial sync setup just to get onto the tab and play around with a few things and I synced later on. Could this be a reason? I'd prefer to avoid a factory reset of course.
Thanks in advance!
You can always check if the account is setup correctly by going to settings --> accounts & sync.
Try to sign into Google Talk on the Tab to fix the Market issues. For the Music issue, make sure you have updated the Music App then check the settings in the app once you have updated. Then make sure your "Library" is showing ALL music rather than just local.

Google music not syncing with phone

Not sure whats going on but it will not see any songs that I uploaded from my PC (2000 songs). There is no button to "sync" the device in either the Music app or in settings/account/gmail. I've installed the app 3 times with the same results. Is there a trick or something? Running GB 2.3.3
Silly question, but did you try a reboot? I have heard that has helped some.

Yes I have, many times
GOT IT!!!
Downloading the app from the market via the phone gave me the problem. I removed the app then from my laptop I pushed the install via the market website and then everything worked. very odd.
Odd indeed

I noticed I have to give it some time to sync after I install it. Also there IS a check box in android accounts settings to enable syncing.
Yup. Enable syncing. I use the power control widget so I only sync when I'm listening to my music.

I've noticed that if it does not sync right away (or after a few hours), Then clear the data on the Google music app. To do so: Go to settings>Applications>Manage Applications and find Google music, then select clear data. Once that is finished go back into Google music and you should be able to pull up the menu and select settings. Then just select your gmail account again and it should start syncing almost immediately.

thats exactly what i have to do too. have to do it just about every time i install music beta.
Yea, I'm having issues too. Shouldn't Music come up in Account & Sync in settings? I don't seem to have it listed anymore.
Thanks. Clearing data fixed the problem.
Just for anyone else having a problem, an issue I ran into was everytime I flashed a new nightly for CM7, it counted as a new device being added to my account. Eventually I was maxed out on allowed devices (think it might be 8 but don't remember) and it wouldn't sync new songs for me anymore. I had to clear the devices from the music beta page itself to fix the problem.

That worked for me. I can sync again. Thank you!
I think the Google music app sucks. Thats right, it sucks.
I have tried deleting the app from my phone and my pc, then reloading.
What happens to me is when I reload everything, it syncs the same old songs. I have deleted them from everywhere, changed the folder, deleted the folder and created a new one.....same music.....that doesnt exist any more. When I select the folder to sync, it shows the correct number of songs for the new folder but then syncs a different number.....and music that doesnt even exist on my CPU anymore.
Makes no sense to me.
Also, theres no way to delete or hide a song on my device. I know theres a menu choice to hide unavailable but that doesnt work either.
Severe FAIL on Google. BOOOOOOOOOOOO
I had this problem a lot. After installing Music from the Market place, go into App Management and "Clear Data". When you load Music again, it will have a settings menu now to select your account. Although, I think this issue was fixed on newer GB versions because I didn't have to do it when I fresh installed on .605.
Just another Android glitch
"I've noticed that if it does not sync right away (or after a few hours), Then clear the data on the Google music app."
I just crossed over to Android and got the GS2. Figured I'd get one of the flagship devices. I figured Android must be good; it's so popular.
I've never used a phone with so many work-arounds, glitches... needed to download so many programs just for a loud & repeating calendar alarm... stores photos to 10 different folders.
Now I have to clear data for every sync I want to do w/ my clouded music? Why didn't I just get an iPhone? The bigger question is, how is it that Android has repeat customers? Maybe Android buyers are all first-time smartphone users and don't know any better. These types of bugs and glitches common to Android are not standard far on iPhone or even my older Nokia N-Series and BlackBerrys.
