Try clearing the application cache by going to settings > applications > all. Find Gallery and Music Player, clear their cache's, and try if it builds the library again.
it does not work though
still nothing?
Have you tried rebooting? Unmounting then remounting the SD card? Alternative galleries/music players?
I've try many times, it does not work
and i DONT want alternative players
Just try creating a new folder on your SD and moving the media files there. May just work. (Atleast it did for me for my Mp3 Files. Initially, it wouldn;t recognize them, no matter what I did, but, I moved them to a new folder, then, cleared cache, and, restarted music player, and it detected all the files successfully)
If this still doesnt work, I am out of ideas, sorry.

I'm using DarchDroid 2.7. I didn't have this problem on Fresh, so sorry if this is the wrong place to post.
After I transfer files, none of my music apps show the new files I transferred. The files are displayed in the file explorer, but not in any music app. I tried remounting the SD card and rebooting, but still had no success. I even manually scanned with MixZing, but that didn't work either.

i have the same problem also so im guessing it has to do with the rom
i have had this happen to me...reformat card and works fine
just for the hell of it, reboot into recovery and go to other, then fix uid permissions, let it run, and then try... I've used darch droid for a while and it finding music has never been an issue.
Hi guys,
I have this problem from the beginning when I flashed my HD2 from normal stock WM 6.1 to Android on SD-card. I never could play the music through my music player . Recently I flashed my HD2 to Android NAND so i thought maybe this wil help. But still not, I see my .MP3 files on my SD-Card with ES File Explorer. Is i click on the file it plays in musicplayer but it doesnt save the track. So i have to click every song each time and when the song is done i have to click on a new one.. Maybe there is a solution for this.
Thanks guys if you want to help me.
Greetings Slagers
Hi Slagers,
I'm currently using the Winamp app from Market. When started, it searches automatically for new music on my SD card. Got all mp3's in the following folder: [SD-Root]\media\Music. Don't know if this is mandatory, but works fine for me.
Argui
I haven't had that problem. I just store all of my mp3s in a folder I named MP3 on the root of my SD card.
You could try unmounting then remounting your SD card or changing the location of the folder that contains your music files on the SD card.
I really don't know why you are having this issue.
Desperate
Thanks for a quick reply, but neither of your idea's helped. Im realy confused that im the only person with this problem
I shall explain my problem in good details this time.
I bought my HD2 from a guy, i had a little bit of knowledge about Android so I installed android on my phone. Next thing i wanted music on my phone and put like 10 MP3 files on my SD-card. I resetted my phone like a hunderd times but my music player can't find the files. When i search with a File Explorer i see the MP3 files and i can play them. They will open in music player but they see only one song. So that doesnt work. I hope there is some1 with the same problem and has found the solution
P.S.
I put the music files also on my phone card. Didnt helped either.
Thanks
This is a longshot...
I know you say you are using MP3s but are they really MP3s? It might be worth using a media converter and trying to convert one of them to make sure that they really are the right format and right compression etc (e.g. not .flac or .ogg or .mkv etc).
Try downloading any MP3 from your phone browser, reboot the phone and see if it shows up in your music player.
I've had the same problem as you this evening
It seems that Android is caching your music library *anywhere* But if you're using Clockwork Mod, you can boot into Recovery menu and wipe your cache partition. This includes the cache of the music library.
I would recommend doing a backup before, because I'm not sure of any side effects, when clearing the cache partition..
Regards
Its working
Thanks alot guys, its working now! Wooot im happy
I am facing same problem
HI I am very new to andorid.
and very much enjoying it. except the issue that My Songs are found when in Music player.
If I run them manually through music player. they work correctly.
Can you tell me what did u do exactly, to get it resolved?
I am a newbie so please bare with me and provide step by step instructions.
THanks in advance.
i would recomend you to reformat your sd card and see...first make a copy of your contents on your desktop them format your sd card FAT32-64KB
then copy it back
then rename you mp3 folder to music
I have used the same SD card through several HTC phones (Evo 4g, Evo Shift, and Evo 3d) and all of my content is on it. I have had my S4 since opening weekend, and had it rooted about a month later. I have been using TriForce Rom 3.1 for about 6 weeks now.
For about 2 weeks, everything worked just fine. Then one day, I noticed that all of my pics and albums disappeared from Gallery. All of my music and playlists disappeared from the Music app. All of my downloaded ringtones disappeared from the list. When I use ES Explorer or Root Explorer all of the content is there inside the correct folders in /mnt/ExtSdCardHere is what all I have tried...
1. Unmount and re-mount SD Card
2. Fix permissions via TWRP
3. Move items from ExtSdcard to sdcard (this works for all media, but i don't accept this as the only solution. There has to be a better way)
4. Scour ExtSdCard for .nomedia (it is nowhere to be found)
5. Download different apps. Rocket Player can find all of the music, but I have yet to find a Gallery app that will find them all. (once again, there has to be a better way)
6. Clear data and cache of the offending apps in Application manager.
7. Wipe Cache and Dalvik from recovery.
The other wierd thing is that in the native music app I have a single album named "Kernel" with a bunch of "songs" like 2x, 5x, 6, Air, Binaural, Binaural2, Blackface Deluxe
Any help here would be appreciated. I have no idea if this is a Rom issue or not. I'll try to get UnknownForce to look at this thread just in case.
Maybe go into settings, then far right tab, then... I forgot what it's called. In application manager, you can clear the cache of each program that isn't behaving and it might rebuild the cache. In recovery, you could wipe cache and dalvik so it would rebuild everything. As for another gallery program, I've always used quickpic. Could it be that the media files got corrupted?

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them both, and no luck. I added them to the list above. As for corrupted files, wouldn't that mean that I couldn't view them at all? I can open them through Root Explorer as well as by putting the SD card into the computer. However, when I connect via USB the only folder that I see on the SD card is DCIM
Problem solved! (at least temporarily)
I did a clean install of the Rom and everything seems to be working fine. I guess that I messed with something on accident.
Yeah that's a good possibility. Fresh full installs are the best way to go.
I updated to Lollipop in order to try the xposed stuff but got a bootloop/soft brick. So I odined back to kitkat stock, rooted again, reinstalled safestrap, and flashed my recovery rom. Everything seemed to be back to normal, but VLC is not showing any media files when I open it. It just says "No Media Files Found" when I choose Video or Audio. When I manually search the directories in VLC, I can find media files, both audio and video, and both play when I click them. It seems weird that VLC would play the files but not be able to see them for the main screen list.
I've now reloaded the recovery rom for a second time and wiped the cache partition in recovery. I also uninstalled and reinstalled VLC and cleared its data and cache once I rebooted. No joy. VLC is currenly installed on my internal memory, though it was doing the same thing installed on my SD card before I un/reinstalled. Any suggestions of what I should do next?
Edit: Forgot to say, I'm on standard Touchwiz rom, only thing custom about it that it's rooted and debloated, but it was like that before, when VLC worked.

Try searching your root folder and sd card for a .nomedia file. If you find any, delete them.
Worked perfectly. VLC shows all media files on the main screen now. I'm guessing there's no problem with me deleting so many files? There were around 60 total on the sd card and in the root folder.

That's a lot but it shouldn't hurt anything.
Hi, I'm currently on Build No. 910GDTU1BOJ4. Yesterday I had 'Unmount'ed my 128GB memory card by going to Settings > Storage. And after that without turning off my Note 4, I had swapped out the card and after copying a few more things from my laptop I reinserted the card into the phablet. It automatically remounted the card. Everything was okay but in Music Player I saw that the existing playlists were not present anymore. And since then I am not being able to change order of Sound Tracks in any newly created playlist. Whenever I'm trying to do so, Music player is crashing. I have already tried a few things. I have cleared data of the Music app in the Application Manager. And I have also tried 'Wipe Cache Partition' from stock recovery. But none of them worked! Please help me. Thanks in advance.
