Screen Coated? - EVO Shift 4G General

I have a scratch coming from the upper part of the screen going right and down. It's very small right now.
I was freaking out because my last phone was a pre which cracked and slowly went across the screen.
My question is I know the screen is glass so is there a coating on the screen that is just scratched or do I now have to worry about it slowly spreading across my screen?

I dunno man but if that was my phone I would be sick to my stomach. I know what some of you are thinking. Christ, its just a damn phone. True, but I am very careful with my phones and treat them like they're my baby. God I'm so embarassed admitting this!
The first and only time I let someone use my epic, they immediately dropped it on the concrete. It had a case on it and I don't think the phone was damaged but I cussed at them anyways (it was a customer too). I will NEVER again let someone touch my phones after that incident.

Hahaha. I lost 3 of my 6 pres to the usb crack.
I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm slightly worried about my phone too.. it does look like there might be a crack towards one side of my screen. I bet we're just traumatized by the pre where if you waited out a problem, it didn't get better. The good thing, I guess, is that I got used to dealing with asurion.

Nah I am the same way. It's weird cuz I have no clue where it could have even came from. I've never dropped it, never remember it scratching on anything and no one really plays with my phone

How does it work? Is there a 2.1 OC kernel? I haven't been keeping up. I was thinking of digging mine out to try out the new webos when I first read about it on precentral, but I forget it exists most of the time now. I never thought I'd buy into android, but htc phones are great.

Why do people think screen protectors will protect against breakage? SPs protect against scratches - not shattering.
Yea no screen protector can help that Lol!

Maybe. However, I have heard too many people claim SP will broke against breakage...
Yeah most people think, "if it falls from a 5 story building, screen first it'll be okay since I have a screen protector".
Luckily, I have a case, and a screen protector. I know if that happened to me, I would still be screwed. I also have the T-Mobile insurance ;D.
Make sure u throw ur vibrant at the car door and make a dent so the vibrant can have the last word and get his revenge

I don't always complain, but when I do, I #BlameWes
What's the verdict? Does vibrant has Gorilla Glass or not?
Joking aside, sorry about your phone. I hope you have the Tmobile insurance.
Awesome destruction
You should hot glue it to plaque' and then stain it. Then you could sell it on Ebay as art.
ouch.

We need to believe that SP makes our phones super safe because that's the only way we can justify buying them
**facepalm**
Of course it was a joke...duh
I'm still wondering how it happened.
I mean for the phone to be on the door opening at the right time.
in most cars the phone will either fall outside on inside the car.
It must have performed an awesome balancing act to be broken right down the middle.
what i bet happened is that he raged and slammed it against the edge of a table or countertop.

Someone got a little temper and threw the phone. There is no possible way for the phone to just "blow up" and still work. If the phone were to blow up it would have to be battery related deeming the phone un-usable. My $.02 a struggling family who needs a little money for the holiday season and is trying to get money out of this to fund Christmas because the guy bought a phone they couldn't afford.

These Lipo batteries should be licensed as weapons. Have you watched a video of what happens when these things get overcharged? Think grease fire + blowtorch + grenade.

Yeah, it is I know and I probably come off as a rude @$$ hole. I tend to be fairly blunt to people on my opinions, but its hard to believe the kind of antics that people will use these days for money, or attention. From the pictures there are not any burn marks on the phone, and from anything I have every heard the only thing to really explode is the battery. If after investigating this Motorola finds something exploded that wasn't obviously the battery, I would be very surprised.

Whew! Talk about lucky (yeah, another toilet story).

Ever wanted to kill your wife after she dropped her evo into the crapper? I have. Just happened on Saturday. She forgot it was in her back pocket, and out it slipped (luckily pre-dump, lol). Pulled the battery right away, and buried it in a sealed tupperware container of rice. After a day and a half, took it out, and it works. Still has moisture under the screen, and the haptic feedback for the capacitive buttons isn't working right, but she can deal with those two things, unless they're cheap to fix. We'll see how things go over a longer period, as I just took it out today, but I've got some hope at least. Just felt like sharing a little messed up story.
I bet it went plop!

Buy your wife lots of new shoes, and use the desiccant packs to dry out the evo. Then return the shoes to punnish her

Notification bar doesn't WORK!

Yes, I understand that there are several threads that discuss this, but everybody seems to find an answer and I don't. My notification bar does not slide down, but it does while in landscape mode (on the left side the whole way up and down). I ran a screen test and there was nothing wrong, and I didn't drop it. Anybody know what it could be?
Have you tried wiping and reflashing your ROM/ kernel?
I had this EXACT problem. only.. it happened right after i dropped it. i just called sprint and told them idk y it was doing it so they replaced my phone.
full wipe and reflash the rom.

Well you can get insurance with Sprint that's what I did and I just my EVO from eBay also....I'm not sure if you can get it anytime or if its open enrollment this month....I suggest you check it out...oh and my bar is messed up too.
I've haven't had access to my notification bar for probably 6+ months. Just click menu and notification and move on with life lol. I heard it could be as simple as cable on motherboard isn't fully inserted as in popped out on a drop. Or rough handling.

I've had this issue with themes on several ROM's. Remove the theme and run the ROM as normal and the bar returns. Install the themes again and it goes away.

Kind of true and kind of false. Some of these stores are 3rd party retailers. They have their own inventory and at times have their own promotions. For example the one near my house smells and looks like T-Mobile, but it's owned and operated by a different company.

I've heard this from more than one source, it seems like the GG5 is less prone to breaks, but more prone to scratches. On a hardness scale I seen it got scratched at 3 and the S7 edge was like a 7 or 8. Mine is sitting in the box til I get my Xtremeguard and either The Spigen I paid for, or the promos Rinke sent me to review.
