Call quality - Atrix 4G General

People were complaining that I was mumbling when i was talkinh ti then with my and I know I was not mumbling because I was talking pretty loud on the phone. I could hear my echo let's leave it at that. Anyways I turned off the noise cancellation in the settings and people stopped complaining. Has anyone had people complain about not being able to hear you? How is call quality in general for you?
I think it's amazing but that's just me(came from a samsung...)

I find it pretty good , that is compared with the iphone the iphone is so bad in call quality.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

I haven't had anyone complain yet. On the flip side I find that people sound really good compaired to my captivate. I used the inspire for a while and it sounded like people were talking to me through two tin cans with a string attached.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk

You could try turning the noise cancalation off or higher.

Never had a problem, people have actually commended my call quality. Maybe get a replacement, and make sure the mic on the back isn't blocked.

Same responses at least by 5 people. I will try to disable noise cancelation and see how it is
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App

The phone quality beats iPhone 4 by a mile. I actually get less drop calls with Atrix.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App

Oh don't get me wrong I can hear the people almost better than if they were in the room (just because the speaker is next to my ear) but ill try turning it onto high noise cancellation and see how that works. I haven't had any problems with it off.

The connector is all digital... what does it even mean... LOL
Great promo.
The Apple fans were bemoaning how this insults Apple fans...
The thing is - at no point in the ad does it mention Apple, or iPhones or anything.
We all know who they're talking about because the stereotype... isn't really a stereotype.
So, the question is - unless you're proud about sitting in line for days, waiting for features the rest of us already have, having to deal with new connectors and so on... why complain?

Yeah, the big scandal. The iphone 4 antenna problems were solved in the 4S. I would generally be in the list of new icrap releases, but seriously I got tired of waiting on Apple to come up with something innovative. The only reason I continued using an iphone is because I spent hard earned money on many many apps and there is data I had concerns that would not be transferable: contacts, password list, repairs history on my motorcycle and vehicle, etc. But enough is enough, I'll be trying to get an Samsung Note 2 next month, and there will lots of manual input.
Maybe thats one of the reasons so many people keep buying iStuff. That doesn't justify people camping out outside a store tho....
Ron

It's hard to innovate when all you do is buy and patent other people's inventions. It's gotten to the point of ridiculousness now.
I love this video, I used to work at AT&T and would get calls all the time about when the iPhone was going to get MMS. The first time i got that call i went through troubleshooting because I refused to believe a phone that expensive didn't have MMS.
All of the sudden i felt a lot better about my Candy Bar symbian phone.

I have used the international S3 and its volume is way toooo low. Nexus S is better even without voodoo sound. People have pretty much given up on getting stable voodoo sound for the S3 its been so freaking long there has been nothing. The amplifier is just plain inferior not only to the nexus S but to alot of other phones as well even the US S3 is more powerful. No amount of "clean" audio can make up for lack of volume.
Even the iphone 5 dropped the ball as far as power is concerned probably because of the "thin" BS that has surrounded the smartphone world now. Iphone 4S/4 and nexus S/galaxy S remain the best audio phones. Iphone is best out of the box but nexus S beats it after voodoo sound. Its almost shocking that we dont have voodoo sound like sound with stock, reviewers would have crapped all over it and it would be more recognized as the greatest audio smartphone ever.
I've heard the Innos D9 (rebranded in ph as cloudfone thrill 430x) and it comes close to the SQ of nexus s.
The owner believes it has a yamaha sound chip in it capable of producing the sound i was hearing. The sound is more "airy" and "wide" than that of the nexus s but the nexus s is noticeably more detailed.
Both devices are great performers sound-wise and it's just a matter of preference what to choose.

[Q] Best semi-in-ear earbuds under $40?

I've had my N4 for a while, and I felt that the headset for the Nexus 4 that's sold on the Play isn't worth the money, so I went with the EarPods, however I don't like the feel of them. Are there any good earbuds that aren't fully in ear (like EarPods, semi-in-ear) that work well with the Nexus 4?
Got those from ebay.de, because I hate in-ear headphones and pretty much every headset on Amazon was in-ear. Don't know what is supposed to be so great about them... anyway you'll probably find them on ebay.com as well:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/290916539574?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
They work fine and the sound is good for the price.
However I found it annoying that above the mic, there is still a quiet long cord to the left earpiece (like 40cm, the cord on the right one is even longer because it goes around your neck) because the mic has a 3,5mm socket itself and there is just a short pair of earphones in there. Of course that gives you the advantage of swapping those out. However you will have the problem of too much cord when you clip the mic to your shirt. (I just stuff the remaining cord in there )
Also the mic/button unit is a bit big for my taste, since it only has one button.
But, as I said, they work fine so far.
If you want spend a little more and get the Klipsch S4.

At Walmart for $30 they are called yurbuds. Surprisingly these things rock!! They are in fact ear buds but they come with rubber like covers that slip over the ear buds. Not only does this funnel all the sound through to your ears but these things will not fall out. They are actually designed for people who run in triathlons. I play golf with them in and I'm very satisfied. Coupled with viper audio mod these are no joke!

EBay, I don't trust, and open box is a definite no no. Amazon for has the regular S4 for 50$ and the S4A with inline mic for 58$. S4i is normal inline mic, S4A is meant for Android. S4i will still work but the online mic will not.

[Q] nexus 4 making a weird noise

hi guys my phone is making a weird noise like when you are placing a phone call near a speaker... it is subtle but it get annoying after a long call. it is not the nfc.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Weirdness is relative and differs for each person, please elaborate. Try not placing it near speakers or buy shielded speakers maybe.
no-no you did not understand, the phone is making a noise like the processor is working but really loud like chhhhhhh )
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Well, processors don't make any noise when they're working so I'm not sure what that could be referring to.
If you're talking about a slight hiss/crackling on the earpiece, that's a fairly common defect. If it really bothers you, ask for a replacement. Some people say they don't have it at all, others say they have experienced it on multiple replacements.
yes that is the problem, it doesn't bother me very badly but I am afraid because I am not sure if it will die on me or not
