i noticed the other day my bezel is cracked near the power, volume, and hdmi areas. Sprint said 100 to fix because they would only offer me a refurb. is there anywhere i can get the bezel and replace it myself?
Somehow I don't think you brought it to a corporate repair store, or you did so before October 23rd.

I just did last friday, has sprint officially addressed this? If so I will call tomorrow to complain.
It's been my experience with Sprint that it's touch and go depending on who you're working with. I've had one rep tell me one thing only to call back in a week later and be told the total opposite. I would continue to pursue the issue until forced to pay the $100.
Any suggestions on how to get this fixed? I would even be willing to buy the part since it should be less than 100

I had dropped my phone and cracked the screen a couple of weeks ago.i took my phone to sprint and they replaced the entire half of the phone(which includes the screen, bezel, volume and power buttons and the speaker grill)in under 30 min for $35.I didn't have insurance.
phone looks brand new,and my new screen is even better than my old one, colors are alot sharper!
i would be ok with paying 35 for it to be fixed. suggestions? there is only 1 corporate repair store in my area i believe.
Official sprint policy is to repair any damage outside of fire, liquid or "total destruction" (the board is in more than 2 pieces) for free under TEP or $35 if you don't have TEP. Loss, theft, fire, liquid and destroyed phones go through assurion for $100/$50. This took effect on October 23rd.

i live in south florida but dont know where to go. my mic stopped working all of a sudden. i try to buy it off ebay and the guy told me dont waste your money on buying the back bezel because the mic is in the motherboard meaning i would have to replace the whole phone. what are my options here?
just take it to a sprint corporate store and let them take a look at it.
i called sprint, and then took it back to the same store. the store told me if i wanted it fixed to smash my phone and then call insurance.
so, i guess back to the original question. where can i buy the bezel to replace it myself since the store doesn't want to help and the next closest corp. store w/ repair is 250miles away.
Wait wait wait.....the store rep told you to 'smash the phone'?! Get that in writing! Lol

Call Customer Service and tell them what's going on and what the rep at the store advised you to do. According to the new TEP policy physical damage is covered in store with no deductible as long as its not damaged beyond repair. That means you don't pay anything to get it fixed. Call customer service and they *should* be able to help you out with this. I would not pay $100 for new screen/bezel when you have TEP. That's a rip.

Do they have to replace the screen too? Maybe that its why they are giving me such a hard time; it is not broke, although I found out last night my multi touch is not working other then basic 2, not sure if 5 is supposed to work or not

well the screen they have comes attached to the bezel,so yeah they will replace the entire half of the phone(screen/bezel).
since they're giving you the run-around,maybe you are better off with a crack on your screen so there is a strong enough reason for them to replace it....(if you catch my drift).
FYI from all I know, if the repair cannot be made in the store they can order you a refurb. You have to pay $35 for an advanced exchange though. Or wait for the repair parts I guess. This is with insurance and depends if they deem it damaged beyond repair.
Okay, Bin Laden didn't have anything to do with this . But, today in school, my brother had dropped his phone, and now his phone screen glass looks like the result of a terrorist attack. his screen hasn't fallen out or anything, but they are in bits and pieces.
So, does his warranty cover it? Can he get a replacement? Is there any extra fee tacked on to it?
Manufacturer warranty... No.
If you have the extended warranty then you will have to pay a deductible.

Just to give people a heads up that need their EVO's exchanged via service centers or replaced via insurance. For the past few days ALL replacement Evo's that I've had come in have been flashed to the new OTA prior to shipping. There may be instances where some service centers may have some 2.2 Evo's on hand (not likely) but for the most part expect to get a 2.3 Evo if you need to have yours replaced.
got mine replaced and got in Wednesday still had 2.3

What's the refurb date on yours. The ones I'm getting in are no more than a week old.
The biggest complaint about Sprint I could have is that they run everything through insurance. Verizon (who I left to get Evo) would replace your phone with no deductible if it was a defect. IE: not charging, something not working properly etc etc. There basically could be no water damage and the phone had to be less than a year old. I pay for insurance for other reasons, such as loss, theft, drop a brick on it and such.
You guys have the same experience? Just trying to see if its the two stores I've went to that "look" at the phone and say if you want a new one do it through insurance.
i have two repair centers here next to me who always replace my phone for free, as long as there's no water damage, r u sure u r visiting repair centers?
A repair center near me was going to replace my phone for free sure to a speaker defect. No insurance needed. Same for others I've talked to. A long as it is a defect in the phone then they will replace it for free.
Where the phones activated? If so that's why it was 2.3

The only time we replace phones is if there are main board issues, everything else we repair in house. Main board issues are cover under the exchange program and we order the exchange right away. If it's shattered screens or water damage the we check to see if the customer is eligible for an upgrade so we can present the customer with options (upgrade or insurance). If they want to file a claim we walk them through it.
PM me where you live and I'll see if I can't track down a decent service center.

Thank you so much for the solid info. I'll shoot you a message later after I get out of this meeting. Again, much appreciated.
It's usually pretty cut and dry if you take it to a Sprint Service/Repair Center. If there is physical damage then it will go through Insurance. Hardware defect it is swapped free of charge. They have the option to repair some physical damage...... If you take it anywhere else they will insurance it for the $100 or send you to a Sprint Service/Repair Center. We'll they should remind you, but usually don't.
I have never had to pay a single claim except for when I lost my phone.
I went to a Sprint Repair center once to have my screen swapped (I have the white spots that are a manufacturer defect) and they told me I would have to go through insurance. I haven't tried a different Service/Repair center yet. Know of any good ones in the Miami, Fl area?
This is a vent about Sprint TEP which seems like their policy from last year is screwing us over (especially since their rates recently went up), and not my particular visit.
Dropped my phone yesterday and the screen remained intact, and touch works as well. The problem is that the screen is a rainbow of colors and is 100% unreadable.
So I brought it in and she said since the screen isn't cracked and I won't have to pay the deductible, BUT because they don't have the screen they have to order a replacement phone for me. Again, no deductible.
So I asked... The screen needs to be replaced, and you are going to order a complete phone to replace this one and there is no deductible, yet if someone came in with a cracked screen that needed to be replaced there WOULD be a deductible. BOTH PHONES NEED A SCREEN!!!!! Unbelievable. I understand charging a deductible for lost phones, or water damaged phones, since both phones are probably completely unusable and cannot be harvested for parts, but in this case you CAN absolutely get parts from my phone just like you could a cracked screen phone. Big rip off IMO.
If the screen was intact and not evident of damage, I would have fried the board so the power would work. They have to replace faulty errors within the phone.

I like third party insurance, but do you know of a third party that covers everything that TEP does (lost/stolen, water damage, etc.) with overnight shipping, at a similar price etc., etc.????
I like Squaretrade, but they aren't designed to handle claims at the speed that TEP does, nor do they cover lost phones.

No idea.. i just got a protection plan from wirefly when i got my Gnex. It was the same price. No deductible and give me a second to get the list of things it covers.
So it doesnt cover water damage... :S but it does cover damage and theft.
What is covered by Device Protection Service?
The entire covered device, original electronic accessories and batteries provided within the manufacturer's box are covered for repair or replacement with no deductible. Each protected device is covered up to the replacement value (the limit of liability) for accidental damage, theft, or malfunction. If a covered item is not available for replacement, you will be offered a model of similar value. Some limitations apply; see What is not covered by Device Protection Service below.

No, from what I read, they shouldn't be charging me the deductible since my screen isn't cracked.
My point is, that the difference between my screen being cracked and not being cracked should not be $100. They are going to be able to get the same amount of harvestable parts from my non-cracked screen as they would a cracked screen.
Just seems like TEP is getting in the business of raising rates AND charging deductibles more often. I understand that one or the other could happen, but for both to happen is a ripoff.
TEP has actually slacked off if they are not charging you a deductible for dropping your phone. The girl was being very nice about it and listing it as a screen failure instead of damage from a drop. Accidental damage is accidental damage. Only actual warranty items should not be charged a deductible. So count your blessings that you somehow saved $100.

The terms aren't cracked or not cracked screen..
it is hardware defect or physical damage
A hardware defect is covered, any sort of damage the USER did is not.
You SHOULD have had to pay the $100 deductible, as the damage was something YOU did, and not a hardware defect in the phone, but you got lucky and got a nice rep.
We seem to be getting our information from different sources. Attached is what I saw.
There is nothing about abuse versus defect. IN FACT, according to the information that I have, they will cover it if there are up to 2 screen cracks that are less than 1 inch long (which I have never seen happen lol).

mine was 1inch long because it cracked deep into the second layer of the actual screen. i had a black screen with green lines the actual physical crack was less but the inner layer was cut and went across the whole screen.
Scenario: driving around normal, bookbag in the trunk, phone in front of the bookbag pouch; must've hit the trunk lid

I guess I just don't see your point. It says right on there that a cracked screen is a $100 deductible. Your screen isn't cracked so no deductible. I don't understand your complaint.

My complaint is NOT about my particular circumstance.
My complaint is that it is RIDICULOUS for a deductible to be assessed for a cracked screen phone versus a bad screen phone. They are going to be able to harvest the same amount of parts from both phones. It is ridiculous that they charge that for cracked screens.
As stated. Cracked screen is evidence of phsical damage. Physical damage is to be sent to assurion. Fortunatly, they called your damage hardware malfunction or whatever.

I see where you going with this... but its a principal thing. She made it look like it was a fault of hardware and you saved $100, lucky. That's it. It does not matter what they can use and save. Its a, If you broke it or its a Samsung issue. They loss more when its their hardware at fault. That phone still cost money and they are in it to make money. FYI, the ONLY thing ever keep is the boards. All referbs get new LCDs and everything else for that matter. It the board fails, the whole phone is trash.

Got my Epic and insurance at Best Buy, 9.99 a month no deductible and covers everything except lost or stolen. I dropped my phone off a 2 story balcony on to a concrete sidewalk and it wasn't pretty. The phone basically exploded! I gathered what was left of the phone and put it into a zip lock bag and took it to Best Buy. The rep looked at me kinda funny and asked what happened, and I told him. They gave me a nexus s loaner, and 3 days later my refurbished epic came in. Definitely worth the 10 bucks a month IMO.

Chances of my phone getting stolen are slim to none. Chances of my phone getting damage are highly likely. There are no limits on how many time it can be replaced, and zero deductible. So, to each their own. For me it's been a life saver, and I've never been with out a phone for more than a couple hours which is crucial when you own, and run your own business.

My S4 is still under its warranty period. Though I cracked the glass a few months ago. The digitizer was unharmed so I opted to order a glass only replacement and fix it myself. There are plenty of videos that demo the removal of the glass from the glass with a hair dryer etc.
I recently went into an AT&T warranty center about an unrelated issue and they agreed to provide a replacement device. The store rep indicated they were currently out of stock my my model but offered to have one ordered and sent directly to me. I would then need to send my device back in a package provided by AT&T.
Its important to note that I did not discuss or disclose the fact that I replaced the glass on the device myself with the store rep. My concern is based on the policy of returning your device to the warranty center through the mail. You are agreeing to purchasing the replacement refurbished device at full price ($579) if your returned device is deemed to have physical damage once they receive it back from you.
Has anyone had luck with a similar scenario?
Thanks
You can send it in. I have done so many warranty replacements with AT&T. On my S4 I had a small chip on the top corner where you can hardly put your nail inside the chip. They where treating me that they will possibly charge me for the full retail price of the phone. If the rep agreed to change the device for you, then no matter if you mail the device in they won't charge you because they inspected the device already right then. If the rep saw a cracked screen or physical damage they will deny it or charge you. There is no way they can find out you changed the screen due to you can always say Samsung fixed it for you but then again they won't question you since they won't take the glass apart and check if you swapped it out.
