Did you delete anything ie: system app...and its trying to sync...goto settings>accounts & sync then see what's stuck syncing

Facebook for HTC sence \sync live feed is stuck trying to sync
I can stop it but is there a fix?

Push facebook back to /system/app...it'll happen if you delete friendstream too..
Edit: you deleted fb or didn't? And what rom are you using

how di i fix it?

Assuming you're still on the stock rom, push these two files (see zip back to /system/app via adb commands or Root Explorer (make sure to set permissions correctly))
Once that is done, go to Accounts & Sync to uncheck the live feed option under Facebook. Then you can remove Friendstream w/out issue.

if i uncheck the live feed option it goes away
Do i need that checked to get updateds from FB
FB seems to be working with it unchecked
i don't exactly know what "live feed sync" does

Live sync updates the status in contacts...just push friendstream back and it'll all be good...

keeping it off really doesn't seem to bad
everything i use seems okay with it unchecked
does it affect anything else?
since i deleted friend stream will that affect anything else?

i meant take the zip - two files - and push it to /system/app
You wuld do this by unzipping the file to the folder where adb is located.
Then enter CMD
Type
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount -t emmc /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 /system
exit
adb push FriendStream.apk /system/app
adb push FriendStream.odex /system/app
adb shell
su
mount -o ro,remount -t emmc /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 /system
And reboot if you want.

so i happened to be viewing an email subscription i get when i happened upon this little tidbit. one of the guys from androidpolice ripped apart the facinate pull, and got the LWP's out of em. unfortunately he made it into a flashable zip so i had to manually adb install the apks and the lib file, but you can do it as well! here's the link to those LWP's

and here's the install instructions:
PREREQUISITES: adb, (dont pm me to ask how to install adb. if you dont know how, you dont need these.) also you need fingers to type with
1.) so you've downloaded the zip, and you wanna install them? well go ahead and open the downloaded zip file with your favorite unzipper. save ALL files somewhere easy to access
2.) adb push the file liblwfa-0.A.2-mng-p1.so from the /system/lib folder of the place you saved the folder to your /system/lib folder
3.) adb install the apks for the lwp you chose from the data folder.
There is no reboot necessary to complete installation, once you adb install, you're done! bam! also instead of installing through adb, you could copy the apks to your sd card, and install through an app installer like astro.
here's a breakdown of which ones which, to give you an easier understanding of what you're gonna want:

does it work on the Eris
Why are you in this section? It says HD2. *I think* These walls' are 800 x 480, so it'll probably instacrash the eris.
Thanks to the OP, these are nice and your instructions are spot on!

i am trying to figure out how to use cmd.exe and running the android sdk thingy i don't know how to install these lwp
I installed via astro and every one of them force closes
Look nice, but I find they just use too much power and really affect the performance..things become a little jumpy/laggy.

I'm glad you asked I was searching for LWP for Eris on this form and this thread came up in my search. This is why no ones uses search and they just keeps starting there own thread and asking the sames question over and over again. cause if they go to another thread and ask a question that's requires a simple yes or no we get answer like that. Sorry for my rant just see this all the time in many forums. It gets old quickly. anyways thanks for the answer

Got another question....

I really hate to sound like a newb

But there are certain commands such as "reboot recovery", that i get a "not permitted" feedback.
So i went into the CMD to try adb shell line and all i get is a dollar sign
So i know something isn't right, but i do not know what. I did check and i've got the Development option turned on in the apps menu. I've updated my SDK, I've checked the Super User Log and nothing says denied. everything is allowed.
do you guys have any ideas??
i NEVER had this problem with my Magic... just really odd in my book.
Can you run free in shell in terminal? Or does that get you permission denied as well? I had a similar issuer and tried everything to fix it .. The only thing that worked was unrooting and downgrade back to stock and then re-root.. Since then no issues with permission denied...with the free thing anyhow ... But still can't run reboot or reboot recovery in terminal .. Get not permitted.

You will ALWAYS get a $ as long as ro.secure=1 in your build.prop... it is not a bug.. in order to get root in adb you will need to type su

That is really kind of weird that it would do that. I wonder if there is something in the phone's stock ROM that prevents us from doing that.

Nexus S live Wallpapers

Does anyone have them and successfully installed them on the X?
I personally haven't tried them yet. Will let you know how they run on the X.
Check out this thread:

What method did you use? The update.zip method or did you move the .apk file into the system? I tried the update.zip on my rooted X with the stock ROM and it did nothing.
Edit: I just moved the livewallpaper.apk file into system/app and it still didn't work. Maybe the Fission ROM adds something that lets it work?
Its only one live wallpaper. I manually moved it but don't forget to set permissions.
I used the update.zip file and it shows under live wallpapers as nexus.
Neither the update.zip or manually moving the apk installed this. Im on Apex 1.3 currently.
After you move the Nexus livewallpapers.apk to /system/app make sure to change it's permissions to User: R/W, Group: R, Others: R. After changing permissions, simply reboot and it'll automatically install.
By the way, make a backup of your original livewallpapers.apk (just rename it to livewallpapers.bak or something) before moving over the Nexus version.

The Nexus one is the only one I could get to install. I had to use Fission Rom Manager to load Microbe.
You need to make sure to mount your system before the install as others have said. It might be worth downloading the update.zip again to be certain the full file downloaded.
Just throwing out ideas.
And since it wasn't in the thread this is what microbe looks like. It's pretty cool. you tap to put those little white dots on the screen. the red blue green and yellow microbes swim around eating it getting bigger then budding off into more little guys. there's actually kind of a lot going on. I think that's why it runs a little slower.

[Q] Boot animation location

So I accidentally deleted the original bootanimation.zip when I was trying to install another bootanimation. I paste a bootanimation.zip file in the system/media/ folder and reboot but I still get a black screen. I even tried the /data/local/ folder and again same results. Anyone know where I am supposed to be this file as nothing works? Thank you in advance.
Did you set the right permissions before rebooting? It's in /system/media and permissions is 'rw-r--r--'

Thank you for the screenshot, I applied what you showed me and I am still not getting a bootanimation when I reboot. Still getting black screen. I will try a different bootanimation file, maybe the one I am using is bad or maybe the phone does not like it. Thank you for your help though Dousn I realy appreciate it.

[Q] Edited BUILD.PROP, now missing system folder, S4 won't boot - Black screen

***TLDR: I edited build.prop, and now it looks like my /system/ folder has been deleted, phone won't boot. Will I be able to save my phone? or do I have to re flash it and start from scratch?
I was trying to get a patched Google Wallet working on my rooted S4 I9505OXAAMDE, and supposedly the app wouldn't open on most devices, so I changed some device details in the build.prop file in the /system folder.
The only things I changed are these values:
ro.product.model=GT-I9505
ro.product.name=jfltexx
ro.product.device=jflte
to
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
ro.product.device=maguro
I did this on the S4 with a text editor (after changing the system folder to being RW instead of RO), and then I rebooted my S4. It gets up to the point where it says "Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505....", then goes to a black screen and just hangs there. At this point I can't do anything. I can't turn the phone off then on again with the power button, nothing shows up on the screen. The only response I can get is that the blue notification LED turns on for a bit after I press some buttons.
After that, I put the phone in recovery mode (using Phil's Touch Recovery mod, or something by that name), and tried to ADB pull the my backup build.prop (called build.prop.bak) from the system folder; adb tells me "remote object does not exist". I then tried pulling a copy i put in the /sdcard/ folder, and that worked. So I had the proper build.prop on my pc (with the i9505 settings), and i then pushed it to /system/build.prop. All should have been good at that point, but when I try to boot I get the same problem.
I then installed a recovery file manager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108 and had a look around in that. According to it there were only 2 things in the /system/ folder; an empty folder called "bin" and the build.prop that I pushed there earlier. From what I remember when I originally edited the build.prop file, there were heaps of folders and files in /system/.
So it seems like something, for some reason deleted my /system/ folder Now I'm guessing I can just flash the stock firmware again (got that downloading now), but I don't want to lose all my apps and such. Is it possible to keep my old setup after flashing? (I don't plan on wiping/resetting anything during the flash)
I also read somewhere that maybe i have to mount/remount (i have no idea) the system folder, and then it might appear again, but I have no clue honestly.
Anything I can do? I really don't want to start with a completely fresh phone, I wanna keep my old setup.
Thanks
EDIT: I tried running "adb remount", and it says "remount failed: success" I don't know what that means, but I was hoping that the /system/ folder isn't lost, that it was just unmounted at some point and hidden in a different location.

Yep, about to flash stock firmware now, out of options. I just hope it doesn't delete stuff.
Re flashing fixed it, and i didn't lose any files. Just a couple of messed up settings etc, easy to fix. Gotta re-root it though.
