[Q] yahoo mail on hd2 - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

ive read several threads on the set up of yahoo mail on hd2 running android. still till this day it will not authenticate automatically or manually

how are you accessing it? mail client? yahoo mail app? browser?

mail setup on phone

these are the settings that work for me, ive tried them on a few different builds:
Incoming settings:
IMAP Server: android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Security type: SSL
IMAP Path prefix: [leave this blank]
Outgoing settings:
SMTP Server: android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465
Security type: SSL
Make sure the box is ticked for 'Require sign-in'

I'm not sure if IMAP with Yahoo gives you push notifications though.
The Yahoo Mail app from the market isn't great, but provides push if you really need it.

How about update frequently setting? 1 hours interver?

Just forward them to your gmail account...easy and fast

Hotmail setup

Before i upgrde to Davideuck_V-1_H.P i had not problem setting up my hotmail. But it seems now the interface has change and when i set up my hotmail, it requires me to enter the server for the IMAP or POP3 server name ...
Before the new Manilla, it done it automatically, the lazy way.
Now i presume with the Manilla, you have to enter those info yourself, however i don't understand the problem.
Scout your hotmail account and you will come up with the answers.
how to setup hotmail
incoming mailserver (POP): pop3.live.com
Gateway: 995
SSL-security: yes
Username: your e-mailadres
password: the password of your email adres
outgoing mailserver (SMTP): smtp.live.com
Gateway: 25 (if it doesn't work 587)
Authentication: on
TLS/SSL: on
Port
I have followed the settings described above however it prompts me for a password all the time whilst connecting although I am sure it is correct entered it numerous times.
Where do you actually go to configure the port settings?

Getting yahoo email on the g1

Well I have a free yahoo email account and just want simple email on my phone. Is that too much to ask? Is it?? Could someone just make an app for it?
Anyway, on with the thread. I went online, and went into my yahoo account settings, and changed the region to Yahoo! Asia. Then i went back in to email account settings and from their, tried to set up email forwarding or POP access.
It gave me these settings:
Server Settings
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication
Account Name/Username: [email protected]
Email address: [email protected]
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
I entered the server incomming settings and waited. Then it asked me outgoing smtp settings and i put those on.
But no luck from there on, i get error at that point.
Any help would be appreciated.
try k9email or

Google hates Yahoo it's like Superman vs Lex Luther
The only thing I could notice is you would have to add .mobile to outgoing settings. This is how you would set it up in America
1. From the Home screen, tap the Application tab.
2. Tap Email.
3. Tap Next.
4. Enter the e-mail address and password.
5. Tap Manual Setup.
6. Tap OK when the 'Free Yahoo! Mail accounts only work over T-Mobile wireless networks. Yahoo! Mail Plus users should configure POP settings manually.' message appears.
7. Tap IMAP account.
#
1. From Incoming server settings, set the following:
2. IMAP Server field: imap.mail.yahoo.com
* Port: 143 (by default)
* Security type: TLS (if available)
1.
Scroll down and select Next.
* The device searches for incoming server information.
#
1. From Outgoing server settings, set the following:
2. SMTP Server field: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
* Port: 25
* Security type: TLS (if available)
1.
Scroll down and select Next.
* The device searches for outgoing server information.
2. Note that account options display and allow you to select how often to check for e-mail, set notifications, and check default setting account.
3. Enter the account a name.
4. Tap Done.
[fixed]
woot! got it working on k9 email with those same settings. at first it didnt work but i realized i mistyped smpt. it should be smtp
i'll try with default google mail app
[CONFIRMED]
I was able to get yahoo free mail working with default email app on the g1 using the following settings on wifi:
Server Settings
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication
Account Name/Username: [email protected]
Email address: [email protected]
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password
To get this to work, your account region must be in changed to Yahoo Asia This is KEY!

Galaxy S POP3 Email problems

Hi, I've just started to have problems recieving email through the stock client for my hotmail and after doing some research on the net it seems there is issues with the Galaxy and POP3 email. What a complete pain in the arse this is but I found out about an app called K-9 email client and this seems to pick up the emails brilliantly but my issue is outgoing emails.
When I change my settings for my outgoing I get a message saying 'Cannot connect to server. (SMTP response is 0 length).' I have no clue what this means!!!
My settings are:
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Security: TLS (tried SSL but no difference)
Port: 25 (tried port 587 but no difference)
Authentication type: PLAIN
Username: email
Password: my password
I'm pulling my hair out so any help would be incredibly grateful.

Hi - I appreciate this may be well past useful seeing as your post was back in Sept, but I had a similiar problem with a froyo Galaxy S. The solution was pretty bizarre - no amount of trying alternate ports, SMTP server names etc worked. But when entering in the POP3 settings manually as per your mail host, simply uncheck the 'Require sign-in'. This worked for me.

hotmail activesync not working in DHD Mail.

Hi, I cant seem to setup hotmail via exchange activesync in the Mail on DHD. I ve heard similar problem with other HTC handset before but not sure if there is any fixed or easy work around?
Open the Mail app on your Desire
If you already have another email account setup then press Menu > More > New account
Select Other (POP3/IMAP).
Select Manual setup at the bottom
Enter the following settings:
Protocol: POP
Email address: your email address
Username: your email address again (full)
Password: your account password
POP Server: pop3.live.com
Security Type: SSL
Server Port: 995
Press Next and the Outgoing server settings screen will appear
If you get an error message at this point double-check all the settings above. Make sure your username is the same as your email address.
For the Outgoing Server Settings use the following options (bear in mind quite a few of the boxes will already be filled in for you):
Login required: Make sure it’s checked/ticked
Username: Your full email address
Password: Your Hotmail password
SMTP Server: smtp.live.com
Security Type: TLS
Server Port: 25
Press Next
In Your name enter your actual name – this is what will appear as the “From” value on outgoing emails
Press Finish Setup
thanks for that. but is there anyway to get the ActiveSync working?
It seems really strange though, hotmail exchange activeSync seems to be working on almost everything except HTC mail client.
had this working on my iPhone, really annoying not working in DHD HTC mail.
Anyone had any luck getting EAS for hotmail working?
