I have a Tmobile LEO1024 flashed with Coutella's release of Android right when it came out. Also, I have SPL-2.08.HSPL on it and MAGDLR 1.11 on it. So far, I used this verison of Android for a while and I had really not any quarrels except the fact that it freezes on charging when the phone is off meaning that it will not turn off its red charging light when I unplug it from the wall. Anyways, I am just wondering could someone tell me what a good stable, relatively non-battery hog verison of Android Gingerbread for NAND would be?
Also, could someone explain what is CWM? Is this another way of flashing the phone instead of using the DTF flasher?
I apologize if this thread repetitive to other threads but I've been away for some time from flashing my phone and I'd like to know what changed.
CWM is essentially a way to flash or upgrade to new software, without the need for a computer. You simply download the zip of the build onto your sd card, and flash it through CWM. They have guides on how to so i shall not go in depth.
I wouldn't know of any gingerbread builds that are good. However all of them are probably good/liked. Else users wouldn't use them, no? Or post feedback.
The freezing whilst charging when the phone is off is a bug of MAGLDR. v1.1. You shoudl upgrade to MAGLDR v1.13, which whilst doesn't freeze when the phone is off, it will turn your phone on. Also try not to pull out your battery to restart your phone, for it might mess up the pins, and to never let your phone run out of battery or you might end up having to buy a new battery.
Note upgrading MAGLDR does not erase your android build, but installing CWM will erase your android build.
try magldr 113 and flash dft's gingerbread. i rocked that for a month with no problems at all except wfi tethering now working but for me thats not a problem
Thanks guys I'll update my MAGDLR for now. I really don't see much of a incentive to really update at the moment other than MAGDLR. Thanks again guys. I think i'll wait it out a little more for the Gingerbread builds to become optimizied and more stable.
All of the gingerbread rom's I've tried have been stable. Try a CM7 one. You're bound to love it.
You mean CyangenMod right? I was thinking about trying that but I really did not know what it was just knew that it was cool. Got perhaps a favorite that I could try that features CM7? Also, how's the battery life especially in standby?
More trouble in paradise. I updated to MAGDLR 1.13 as people said would solve my charging freeze issues but now it turned into when I wanna charge the phone while it is off it just turns on when I plug in my charger. =/
Unfortunately it is normal behaviour of magdlr 1.13.
Ah geez, I forgot to read that part. That kinda sucks.
Am using 1.13, but this issue is still happening... Maybe a future release will fix it?

Well before everyone attacks me with "try searching on forums" responses, i have done that already. So here is my problem. no matter what build i use i will occassionally get sod and have to remove the battery to power it back on. the button lights turn on like its going to power on but no matter how long i wait it wont come out of sleep.
I have all display settings turned off in windows mobile before i boot into android, and i have auto like turned off in both windows and android. I have auto rotate turned off, and screen time out set to 30 min, which actually fixed my problem for a while. it always seems to happen that something happens that i have to power off my phone, and as soon as i do that is when it starts acting up and i get sod. it takes a few tries of taking out the battery for the phone to stop getting sod but after a few days it seems to come back.
I have even tried reformatting my sd card and still had the problem. i have the stock 16 gig sd card it came with. i havent flashed anything on the phone because i dont want to risk screwing up, so you guys are my last resort because i have tried everything.
Time to try different sd card.
In both windows and android, Auto light is off and you manually set the display backlight?
Have you tried the hyperdroid 1.7 version??

Im pretty sure this is ur problem. Lots of things go wrong with stock.
its not as hard as it seems. just follow the intructions for ur specific hd2.
(look in the usa hd2 forums) if ur a usa hd2 user. IM SURE ITS A STICKY.
IF U WANT TRY THE OFFICIAL UPDATE FROM T-MOBILE!
i have heard good things about it
Unfortunately you have no choice but to flash the HSPL, a custom rom, and a radio. these are easy. ive flashed my phone countless times. I've also flashed other peoples HD2's countless times. Even when the phone was in the middle of flashing and the power went out at my house it did not brick the phone.
If you want to run android as a daily driver (like I do) my best advice is to flash the following.
HSPL (duh lol) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893
Radio version 2.12.50 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9GU2FF3X
WinMo rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734238
(click on the first 'ChuckyDroidRom' picture under downloads in the first post.
You will use this utility to flash the 3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=575524
when/if you download the 3 items, create a folder on your desktop. Name it something simple. Then inside that folder create 3 folders. name them HSPL, Radio, WinMo Rom. extract the downloaded items to their respective folders.
with the customRUU utility. extract the file to each of the folders.
Then,
Flash the HSPL first, the radio second, then the winmo rom.
when finished with those use the format sd card app in windows mobile to format your sd card (the program is set to format to android specs)
then copy whatever android build you want to the sd card.
Enjoy!
if you have any questions you may feel free to PM me. I will be home all day and would not mind helping you.
wow that is a lot easier than i thought well so far its working really nice, i havent got any sod yet, keeping my fingers crossed lol. thanks everyone for the help!

Yeah I promise you it was your radio/rom version. I had the EXACT same problem and nothing fixed it until I flashed and updated my radio. sometimes you just have to bit the bullet and dive deep!
cheers on your fixed phone, and knock on wood for no more SOD!
If you do experience SOD again. I recommend a faster SD card. I was having issues with any build I was using. Up to date flashed radio and lite WM rom, my only cure was faster SD card. I went from the stock 16GB C2, to an 8GB C6 (17.99 from Amazon), and I have not experienced SOD anymore. I have issues where sometimes the screen will not come back on right away, and I have to wait a few seconds, but it never sleeps on me anymore.
I have the latest energy rom, i can flash roms and stuff, but it won't charge, it won't go into a rom, just bootloops right after showing me the radio version...only works when plugged in. I am going to go to work and grab a charged battery, if it works i might just use the phone for 2 days and use the warranty...unless you guys can think of what else it could be...i did a task 29, then the newest energy rom...i haven't change the hspl to hspl3, it's on 2 now..i don't think that would matter, it's on a 13. radio i think....
Sounds like a bad flash. HD2's are pretty picky when it comes to rom flashing compared to some other devices.
When you flashed it did it go thru to 100% and then give you the congratulations screen on your comp?
I would try sd card flashing from a 4gb class2 card, the rom you first tried flashing. Sometimes a usb flash can go awry.
If nothing else works for you, theres always this option here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=668347
and then you might be able to goldcard your way back to cooked roms.
Best of luck
btw should have asked in 'HD2 Q&A' forum, this really has nothing to do with Android
Hey guys for the last couple months ive been using android 2.3 gingerbread on my tmobile Hd2 with no issue. Except one day, yeasterday it ran out of battery or something, and now for some reason the phone boots, goes past the first couple of screens until it goes to the red, green, yellow, blue lines that intersect and make an X. It just stays there and doesnt finish booting into the OS. I dont know if there any way to fix this, a problem with power, or that i have to install the stock windows 6.5 rom again. Either way, any help or linked tutorials would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and the kind of rom i used is NAND, its installed into the phone and not the sd card.

If you leave the phone on the charger, does it enter a bootloop or does it boot up to a certain point then freeze? If it's the latter I'm not really sure as to what I can do to help (there are solutions, I just don't really know any of them) but if it's the first then your battery is probably out of charge to the point where it can't boot far enough into the OS to be able to start charging. You'll have to cut open a USB cable and charge it manually, unfortunately.
Hello;
It's been 5 days that i'm reading about this problem, and i didn't find any reliable solution, so i'm posting it here:
I've juste flashed my third HD2 with a new radio (2.15) an android NAND rom (the Nexus HD2 ICS), and since then i can't get into the bootloader mode, i've tried the vol -, the adb reboot bootloader, and nothing works.
i want to access the bootloader to downgrade the radio to the 2.12, and without the connection to usb via activesync, i can't do it. i just can access the MAGLDR menu when it says WPH not installed (i think it's the source of the problem) and then install roms.
So if anyone can help me changing my radio without the bootloader or how to get it back, i'd really appreciate it.
Vol down works perfet on WM6.5 and on android, and i've tested it with the key tester in Recovery mode
No answer?? no one raising the finger?? So basicly there's no solution for my problem!!!
Aaaaah did you change the boot source looks like Its trying to boot windows mobile and you have android installed btw we have no fast boot support in magldr. Change the boot source under services and technically it should work
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA
I restored the boot source to Android from NAND, and it just simply avoids the "WPH not installed" message on Magldr, nothing to do with the bootloader who is still missing... anyway thanks for the tip.
Lol if your bootloader is gone your phone would be bricked!

I don't think your alone because I've read a similar thread a while back but I can't seem to find it again. Basically it was reported to be an issue for many users who had used HSPL4 to flash HSPL or something like that. I did and can still access the bootloader but others have had problems. I don't think it should be something to be too concerned about unless you want to restore back to stock WinMo to send it in for repairs or something or if you want to change bootloader from MAGLDR to cLK. Flashing the radio as you wanted to do can be useful but I doubt there's a significant difference between these. And whenever anyone mentions 'do a Task29 to be safe' it's just BS. Task29ing is unnecessary in most situations but people have simply got into the habit of doing so every time they flash a ROM (which can actually be bad for the phone as it can eventually lead to bad blocks from what I've read) so whenever people ask for help their first response is Task29. Basically, I would say that you shouldn't worry about it too much
'sup guys
I'm attempting to give this HD2 another chance (my dad dumped it for something else, claiming the battery's bad, I fixed that in the mean time) and wish to run android on it.
These forums being great resources for information, I pretty much started right away. But yeah I've gotten myself into a little problem here...
I've lost USB connectivity (won't even show up in the bootloader, 'Serial' is there to stay) after flashing a new radio with CustomRUU.
Device: HTC HD2 (LEO512) - WP 6.5
HSPL: 2.08.HSPL
Radio: Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14 (well, not sure if that even worked out well, I was trying to get that installed. The radio version on boot didn't change to 2.15...)
was planning to:
Bootloader: MAGLDR v1.13
Recovery: ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.6
NexusHD2 JB 4.1.2 -> NAND installation
checks done:
usb cable: works fine, phone still charges and the LED still turns on (green)
tried connecting to another computer, but no drivers were found to use the device. There was also a mention of 'Generic RNDIS'
I've tried rebooting, didn't help (didn't expect it to)
lost connection with the WP device center during changes made by customRUU.
have I looked around on the forums? Yeah, quite a lot, but the words 'no connectivity USB bootloader no recognition' in any kind of sentence resulted in the 'project' threads for the radios and flashing services being on top of the results every single time...
factory resetting didn't solve anything
feeling where it went wrong: RUU told me I had an outdated rom (3.whateverblabla), what kind of rom? No idea, but I thought I'd let it update, but I now regret doing that since something might be in bad shape.
Connectivity was lost after the rom update. I could still use WP6.5 if there isn't a fix (no problem running it/booting/...), but I'd love to get android running on this device!
~EDIT: I believe I forgot to go into bootloader when running RUU... :/
Would be really great to hear from you! I haven't looked into the possibilities with SD's, but I've got a 1Gb microSD if you want to fix stuff by using an SD. Thanks in advance
ps: if there's a way to undo the current 'extra' non-WP installations, like a simple reset, that's just fine. I'd rather start over again anyway (;
