I want to purchase a Sandisk 32gb micro sdhc for use with nand rom.
I remember somewhere that people had issues with these.
Is this true?
I would love the extra storage for movies and music.
Any advice would be highly appreciated.

I have been using a sandisk class4 32GB card for some time now. I have had 0 issues with it for wince or android booting from the sd card.
Got it from newegg.com for around $75. It was advertised as a class2 but they ship class4.
Thanks. I'm gonna give it a try.

odd - i'm experiencing problems making an A2SD partition - did you make one?
I have had no problem with 32GB microsd card. I've used it with both SD and NAND rom, even with EXT3 partition on supported ROM.

Hello. I have a problem regarding my vizibility of the sd card on the device. I used to manage it on HTC touch HD, and now, I want to use it on Diamond 2. But it is not recognized by Diamond 2. I've format it quick, low (longer), fat, fat32, ntfs, but without succes. I've installed 3 different ROM's, but still nothing. On the PC is working without any problems. It is an 4GB microSD HC card
you mean your TD2 can't even detect the microSD when you go to File Explorer?
yes. i cannot see at all the microsd on my device. only on the PC.
and i've tried also 2 different microSD cards: 1gb, and 2gb (Nokia this one) and is working with those one. I've tried my microSD card on a Nokia and htc p3300 and is working.

I presume the roms were not loaded via the microSD, then? Do you see the microSD cards via ActiveSync?
nop, not at all. I cannot see the microSD in any other way (not even microsoft active center - Windows 7). But, those 2 microSD (1, 2gb) i can see. And yes, i didn't install the ROM from the microSD.
solve it by replacing it with a 2gb sd card.
the memory card is not me out with the official wm 6.5 ROM
what can I do to boot the card??
ah no problem of card because started the card with the adapter to the PC and read it perfectly.
I have D2 and the card is the Kingston with 4Gb....
I can help my problem??
Hello,
My problem is solve, I changed the card....
At last I found people with the same BIG problem of mine!!! I NEVER succeded in using ANY (nor cooked nor official) WM6.5 version and I am getting quite desperate So, it appears that 4GB Kingston SD is not "WM6.5 compatible"..I tried also Sandisk 2GB SD with the same miserable result...Lucky me!!
If it solves the issue, I am prone to buy a new SD card, but how does it have to be to work correctly?? what specs, what size is supported, is there a recommended brand?
My forum search led me to a closed thread and here, is this the only "SD and WM6.5 problem" related thread?

Strange, because I have the same memory cards, Kingston 4 GB, and I never had any problems. Currently I have WM6.5 official and works well.
You tried to format it?

Thanks for feedback!! Yes I formatted it in all possible ways, with PC adapter and within the device . As I feared, there is not a general rule to determine wether a SD card will work with WM6.5 or not and I am not rich enough to buy SD cards until one woks
I've heard it has something to do with the country in which the card was made. China was OK and Korea wasn't, or somthing like that. Don't really know whether that's correct though.
thanks, going to check that, ANY SUGGESTION IS WELCOME !!
What is the class of your memory card? Mine is class 4
I think it's a class 4, but if you tell me how to be sure I'll check better. Maybe using a diagnostics software?
EDIT:I just took the SD card out, I can read "SDC4/4GB"...maybe C4 stands for category 4..Again, help much appreciated!
From Topaz I don't know if you can see the class. It is in the packaging.
what's your actual ROM?
ITA WM 6.5 Original
ah ok, already tried that without success..and that was when I got disppointed the most
Hey guys,
I have been running Android on my HD2 for a few months now using the stock 16gb class 2 and had no real issues. I purchased a Patriot 8gb class 4 to replace the stock because I need it for another device.
I have tried formating it 32kb and 64kb, default allocation size and nothing has worked. After transfering the android files and running haret a few minutes later I get stuck on the boot screen. I tried a fresh install of various android builds and keep having the same problem.
Can someone tell me the correct way to prep this card for my HD2 to run android? Maybe a utility or something.
Link to the card's product page: http://www.patriotmem.com/products/detailp.jsp?prodline=4&catid=16&prodgroupid=78&id=730&type=15
Thanks
Give SD Formatter a try in quick format mode.
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/
It formats FAT32 with 32kb sectors, and has worked well here with multiple class and size MircoSDHC cards. That said, 16GB Sandisk cards are cheap now. Maybe consider picking up another one and ditching the Patriot, if SD Formatter does not fix it up.
Best to all,
R

I'm sorry for you... That card is a junk! I also have that one and after many hours of frustrations end up buying sandisk 8gb class 4 for $15usd.
I have done all suggested ways to prep that card. If ever you will be able to boot, expect for minutes of lags.
I would recommend what has been said before, just re-format the SD Card.
I have tried several builds but the result is disappointing. None of them can boot when I want to use EXT4 partition for data on it with my large SDHC card (16GB)
My 8GB Class 6 microSDHC runs fine but when I want to use Class 10 16GB card, the system crashes on boot...
I think 15GB FAT32 partition (I created 1GB EXT4 partition at the end of the card) is too large to be seen during Android boot or what?
Do you think it will work when I create only 7GB FAT32 and 9GB EXT4 it will work? Or should I switch the order of partitions (EXT4 first?) (it is not good solution but good for test)
Can someone from cooks help here? Thank you very much.
Firstly, this is the wrong section. There is a Q&A section explicitly for questions like this.
Secondly, I have a 16GB card with exactly this setup (15+1) and it works perfectly. Your card is possibly defective. Grab this little program and test it.
I use a 16GB CLASS 6 SD CARD for a long time.
maybe is something wrong with ur 16GB
and never create a partition bigger than 1.5g for your EXT4
I still guess the problem is your 16gb card..
I am also using a 16GB class 6 micro SDHC with no issues so far.
My partitioning is 14+2 (FAT32+EXT4) and runs like a charm.
I agree with the others, there must be something wrong with your card.
Thank you. I will test it using the program...
THe card otherwise works correctly...no bad clusters, missing files....perhaps the Class 10 is only a advertisement and the card is too slow? (because I heard that if the card is too slow then the system may boot too long and also become unresponsive (force close or wait for main android process etc.)
SO to give a public anti-advert I will reveal that my microSDHC card is KINGSTON CLASS 10
I have the same card kingston 16Go C10 and no pb !
My advice, make your partition (after full format fat32) with CWR (swap 0)

I've been trying everything to get a NAND install using a (brand new) Kingston 16gb class but have had no luck. The same process works on my sandisk 2gb card. I posted the question earlier today for any advice.
I got same problems with my 16 gb class 10 card (adaTA).
The card is 100% error free and on winmo work superfast. Unfortunately when i try to make ext partition on this than is going to work so sloow and with errors.
I have also PQI 8gb class 6, sandisk 8gb class 2 and samsung 16gb class 2 and I have to say that ext partitioned roms work fastest on slowest sandisk!!!
What is going on?
SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC. no problems with it.
i used gparted livedisc to format 1gb ext4 partition. works great
32 GB ok but what class?

If you had read anything properly you would know that WP7 partitions your SD card to 200MB and rest is WP7 partition.
If you are not using WP7 any more and want to return SD card back to normal you will need to use Panasonic SD Formatter with size adjustment ON.
great i try tank
Hi,
i bought a new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and i have a SD card which is 64 gig with files stored on the card. Every time i put my 64 gig SD card in the Note 4 it sometimes recognizes the card and sometimes does not, when i click on the 'my files' app to view my files on the SD card it says 'no files' when there is. Sometimes i can view the files other times not. - I've also noticed this only works when i turn the phone off and start it again then and only then i can view the files on my 64 gig SD card. Then if you exit the app and open another app but go back to the 'my files' app it will say no files on the SD card. I've used this card on my old phone the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the 64gig card works fine. Even now if i put it in my old phone - the S3 - the card works fine and i can view the files on it all the time.
I've also thought may be the Note 4 is new that's why its not recognizing the card and backed up my files on the card and formatted it several times both on exfat and NTFS still not good same problem, sometimes i can see the files on the 64 gig card and other times i cant. I have another 4gig sd card which i put in the Note 4 to check if it is the 64gig card that has the problem or the phone but the 4 gig card which i have inserted in the Note 4 works fine, ive had no problems with it, i can view my files all the time.
Anyone please help as i want to use my 64gig card which has more files on it.
Plz anyone?

Are you 100% sure you have a legitimate sd card? I bought one that was a SanDisk knockoff that gave me symptoms similar to yours. Try another verified authentic brand of SD card and see if it persists.
FWIW, I have a 128GB in mine working just fine.

In terms of authenticity I can't tell coz I was using it on my galaxy S3 and it was fine. I had no issue with the card at all its just when I put it in the Note 4 the problems arise. :crying:

Any particular conditions of the new card you bought?
I had the exact same problem. My old 32gig card from my S3 suffered the same problems.
I'm sorry to tell you, but I'm pretty sure the S3 screws up the card for the Note 4.
I replaced the card with a Samsung 64gig, and have not had any problems since.

How come the card works for the S3 phone then and just when I put it in the note 4 it has issues. Also I have a 4 gig in the note 4 now and have not had any problems at all.
You can just buy a new card. That'll save you more headaches.
Yeah I know that but I wanted to find out what was causing the SD card issue. Because otherwise it's a waste of a 64 gig card which was working fine with the galaxy S3. Also I wanted to know the same thing won't happen again if I buy a new 64 gig card of it does it would be a waste of money. So need to get to the bottom of this before anything else.
Any android experts on this forum please share your thoughts and solutions.
Thanks
Since you have formated the card... make sure you only load the card with pictures, docs, music... but do not copy files from the S3 (system files that the phone stores on the sd card) If it doesn't work do a factory reset on the phone and follow the same steps.
No use

I'm having a brand new 32 GB SD card for my N910c, but still suffering the same issue, and tried another SD card as well, alas, without any progress
I then tried a factory reset, and tried reformatting the card on my PC and on with the phone but all of this didn't work...
Any other suggestions???
Thanks anyways

Move the files from SD card to PC, insert card to Note 4 and let the phone format it. Move the files back afterwards.
Same here with sandisk 64GB, but i never noticed it because when i remove or place the card i always turn the phone off. I have a lot of small sd cards and usb sticks broken because of uncareful hotswapping.

Is your SanDisk Ultra or Extreme? A friend of mine had the same issue you have with Ultra, and SD died soon after.
