wireless tether 4G speeds - EVO 4G General

I keep getting conflicting answers. Is it possible to tether the evo's 4G speeds wirelessly? If so what rom and what version of wireless tether do I need?

Please move to q&a sorry

I use Konikub's Elite Series II and when I tether (tested on a torrent), I max out at 1MB/s download speed. That is 4x faster than my wifi which maxes out at 250kb/s.
My average is in the 700-800kb/s range, where a single downloaded torrent will stick to unless there's more seeders than leechers.

Slow WiFi speeds?

I have a 30mb/s connection on my home wifi. When I connect my G2 to my wifi I get speeds of 2mb/s. Is the wifi chicp not able to handle such high speeds? I though it had wireless N

I believe you have a class 2 card. If I'm not mistaken, those can only write at 2MBps you can only download at your maximum write speed

Wifi tether has always worked just fine for me tethering 4G. I get 3-4mbps most of the time with peaks around 6mbps.

I use the Wireless Tether app in the market (root only) with 4g all the time, works great.
i did some tests and i'm not getting 4g, i'm on dk28 froyo, did speed test on phone browser and also when tethered (using wifi tether pre15) and on tether i'm getting 3g speeds, not sure what i'm doing wrong
EasyTether on the market works well. Cheaper as well IIRC.
I used wired tether
I use wired tether on a rooted phone and couldn't be happier. Great 4G speeds and charges the phone at the same time. Remember, 4G is a huge battery hog!
My phone is rooted but couldn't get wired tether to work. Is there a particular version I need to use? The wireless tether works great, but not all my computers have wifi.

If the phone indicates you're connected to 4G and tether works at all, you're tethered via 4G. What "3G speeds" are you getting?

You need a kernel with RNDIS support (Xtreme, MixUp), and the wired-tether (wired-tether-1.4-epic-1.apk) client from this thread or a ROM containing that client.

at home i get 1 bar on 4G, i tested in the phone browser at speedtest.net and get almost 3 mbps but when i tether with wifi tether pre15 it still shows that im connected 1 bar on 4g but testing again on speedtest.net on my laptop shows around 1 mbps, perhaps i'll run it a few more times but i've already done it a couple times with same results...
edit: ok did the test again and i got around 3 mbps now, weird i'm happy it worked now, i think i just get inconsistent results since i have such a low 4g signal here, thanks everyone.
In my house, I have very little 3G signal AND 4G signal. My 4G speeds are as fast as maximum 3G speeds.
Perhaps that's what you're experiencing? I've done a speed test on 4G in my house and came back with 1.2 MB/s DL with .8 MB/s UL.
I'm went to la and st. Louis and tethered 4g with mobile ap, worked great,

SLOW tethering speeds

Is anyone else getting REEEALLLY slow tethering speeds. Main reason why I purchased this phone. I came from a touch pro 2 that had 56k modem dial up speeds. And when I tether from this its even worse. The google home page is taking at least 10 seconds to load. Anyone else getting these type of speeds or what are your speeds? 3G and 4G? BTW I'm using wireless tether with temp root!

Easytether pro is what I'm using now. I got fed up with pdanet. This isn't wireless tethering. Barnacle was good too.
I get extremely slow speeds too.
Can someone else test there tethering to see if its slow too

[Q] Nexus 7 only have 2.4 Ghz Wifi and NOT 5Ghz?

Can anyone who have the tablet confirm if the above is true?
I use 5Ghz at home to reduce overcrowding (90% of my neighbors wifi) and increase network speed, especially when streaming movies (I use Plex and Skifta)
Only 2.4 GHz I think anandtech confirmed it

Questions go in the Q&A section
Yes, you can only connect to 2.4Ghz networks

Whats your network 5ghz wifi speed?

I get around 3-4MB/s using Airdroid, thats pretty slow since my laptop does 12MB/s. The phone is set to 5ghz, not sure if Airdroid is limited to G speeds since thats about how fast it goes, but my internet speedtest.net speed on the same server is half as fast as the laptop too.
If you have Airdroid I think the easiest way to test the speed is download a large file and see how fast its downloading rather than upload a file.
Using Speed test.net I got 26Mbps down, which would be maxing out my internet connection.

home network file transfer speed not internet speed
Using the 5ghz doesn't do anything faster. What it is is just another band to use. If you live in an apartment complex with 100 nearby WiFi signals, they are all most likely on 2.4. Things get congested. Switching to 5 helps out this.
