[Q] help pleeease, phone app force close - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I installed MCCM GB V2.0 Gingerbread HoneyComb Sense theme [kernel tytung_r5] and for the beginning everything worked fine. But after installing some apps and rebooting, the phone app gave robotic sound and asked for force closure. I tried to reinstall, reboot several times but same problem exists. I formatted sd card with SDFormatter 2.0 completely. Still prb exists. What am I doing wrong or is this a general problem everyone having? HD2 details as follows: WM 6.5 Build 1.66, Radio 2.10.8, HSPL 2.08. I would very grateful if someone could help me out with this prb.

How did u flash your ROM ?
Did u use CWM or DFT method ?

No, I just flashed it to sd. and another problem with my phone is I cannot flash anything radio, wm custom, etc. when i start to flash anything via active sync, RUUCustom starts bootloader on the phone, shows the progress bar (bar stays at 0% always) and it stays for approx. 2-3 minutes and gives an error "connection error" and goes to recovery stage. I remeber last time I just falshed HSPL. That's it. Since that time I can't flash anything like radio, magldr etc. That's why I flashed android to sd by just copying android folder to sd and running clrcad.exe and haret.exe. I'm a novice and don't understand much. But I have general idea. If anyone can help me to sort out above problems, I would be very grateful.

Got the same problem with that build. I heard that it's caused by some sort of memory problems, Anyway I didn't found the solution.

Could be left over data from previous build, delete data of the apps that keep crashing.(Dialer, Dialer storage), reboot, try again.

TMOUS HD2 Freezing on New Flash and Without Micro SD Card Why?

I recently have been experiencing problems with my HD2 freezing and lagging.
I decided to get rid of the stock ROM that came with my phone. I installed the HSPL 3 on my phone and it is now at 2.08 instead of the 2.10 it came with. I installed the Energy ROM build from Aug. Cant remember which one. For about a month the ROM gave me no issues at all. Then suddenly i started getting freezes as I once did on the stock ROM. I flashed the ROM again and still freezing. I backed up my data on the micro sd card and re-formatted it but the HD2 freezes without the sd card installed. also many times I have had to pull my sim card out to get the phone to respond to my finger. also when i recieved a text message the phone froze.
When i boot into android the phone is fine. no freezes. some lag but no freezing at first. now i get random freezes as well. I just installed the latest Froyostone build from Sept 29 V 3.1 on my micro sd card and it as well has been freezing. Before I installed this new version I was running a clean froyostone version and that too was freezing.
im beginning to think my phone is bad! My sim card is old. Ive had it possibly 4-5 years now since i first signed up with tmobile. ive tried just about every tip available to fix the freezing issue and nothing works. the phone freezes at bootup with a new flashed ROM. freezes on the stock ROM too. Tried the task 29 flashed with radio file.
currently on my HD2 I have the following
SPL 2.08
Radio: 2.07.50.27_2
ROM: Energy Aug 28 2010 WWE
for Android
FroyoStone Sense - Version 3.1 (29-September-2010)
I flashed from the 2.10.50.26 to 2.07.50.27_2 using the task29
I have tried many radios. the stock, the 2.07.50.27_2, 2.08.50.05 and the latest 2.14.50 radio. ALL freeze on my phone. I read on some threads that radios cause the phone to freeze but all of them are freezing. 2.08.50.05 i got my best performance. 3G was very strong indoors and download speeds were through the roof but when i ran android i got the robotic voice so i changed the radio back to stock.
Sorry for all the mixed up info but just wanted to say what I have gone through. The phone will work fine for awhile and then it just freezes. Also another weird thing is that when the phone freezes and i do a battery pull it boots back up right back where it left off. like it did a system resume. it wont say HTC Loading HTC Sense it just goes right to the lockscreen and freezes. WTF!!!
so please anyone have any info for me? because no matter what ROM and/or radio combination i use the phone freezes and even without the micro sd card installed. yes my card is a class 2 and i heard on th htc forum that they are replacing the class 2 cards for class 4 cards but that doesnt seem to be the issue here because the phone freezes without the card.
when i flash the ROM or radio i do not have the sim or sd card installed. I also tried the elegancia rom and i loved it but same thing. freezing. I dont have any apps installed on the phone except for GRemotePro which is installed on the storage card and the phone was freezing before i ever installed that app.
So if anyone reading this has solutions or links to other threads on here please help me by leaving them! I have done a very extensive search through this site for solutions and done many of them with no luck. I hate to call tmobile and go through the hassle of getting another phone especially because i paid 300 bucks for a NEW phone and I dont want to send this one back and get a refurbished unit. I want a NEW working unit in which i originally paid for to begin with!!!!
HELP my fellow HD2 users! I love this phone!
i hink you should download nrg's newset rom but flash the radio he recomends
I'm also having the same issue, and looking for a fix. as what i observed, its a hardware related issue, not software issue.
Did you get any solution after that? I like this phone but it failed me...

Suddenly experiencing the weirdest problem.

Hi guys
I'm a NRG rom user, com5 build and suddenly I'm experiencing the wierdest problem, which I can't solve by myself. Let me explain what happened.
I flashed the latest rom but also went back a couple of versions. I always flash with the flash util which has the task29 feature build in. What happens is that when I flash a rom, all goes well, the complete process including the XDA_UC auto install process. After that everything is okay and everything works. But when I restart the phone all processes are starting to fail loading. Strange thing is that when I remove the storage card and reboot the phone everything is back to normal again. But as soon as I boot the phone with the storage card in everythings fails. I even had white screens of death when booting with a storage card mounted. I also tried dutty's latest rom and mirri's latest, all have the same problem. This problem appeared all of a sudden, all the cabs etc worked like a charm before, so the problem doesn't lie in the cabs or the files autoinstalled during the xda_uc.
A weird solution to this problem is to flash the latest dutch official stock 1.66 rom which is available for the hd2. With that one everything works, also after a reboot. So I can't use a custom rom anymore. Could this be due to a hardware problem? And if so, how can I explain this to HTC if I want to try to send it to them for repair?
Ow and of course I tried it with several other microsd card, all having the same error, so it's not a sd card issue.
I would relock and the re-unlock your hspl and see what happens. That is indeed a weird problem (that you can't send your phone in for).
Good luck

sounds like a defective phone!!!!
Yeah, that was my idea too. I tried relocking and reunlocking it with HSPL, but that doesn't matter.
But the problem is, how do I explain this to HTC if I want to send the phone to them for repair? I can't tell them that the problem only occurs when I install a custom made rom.
Pfff okay, I found the solution. It wasn't a hardwareproblem after all. I went through a terribly long trial and error procedure but finally pinned the problem down to only one cabfile, named HD2MemTweak found in the registry tips and tricks section of the general forum of the HD2.
I'd installed the lastest official 3.14 rom and installed all the cabs I was used to. But noticed, after several reinstalls, that when I installed that specific cab and rebooted the phone, everything went wrong. So I installed it without that cabfile and allw as working fine again. Then reinstalled HSPLv3 and installed the latest NRG Cookie Classic rom, which works fine again.
So that was the problem indeed. But one thing is strange of course, is that the mentioned cabfile used to work and suddenly stopped working. Could this maybe have something to do with the fact that the latest roms were build on the new 3.14 official rom? Who knows.....

[Q] Auto Reboot/Restart Issue/problem on android boot

I am using stock winmo HD2 Rom (the october 2010 ROM Update for EU) with 2.15 radio version.
So far have tried all 3 of Mdeejay's roms with different kernels. Each time with sd slow format. yet still i will try the rest to confirm the problem exists.
So on the first load of any of the version's i've tried android boots perfectly, allows htc set up screens, runs amazingly smooth, fast, battery long lasting and so on (thanks to MDJ for all this), yet! i've seen many people have the same problem: After some random time (maximum of a few minutes) the phone reboots automatically thus taking you back to winmo.
So.... any clues?
SOLVED
hey... I had to found the solution on my own....
as usual.
It seems to be something related to the sim card. You have to unable from winmo the pin of your SIM.

reboot problem
hey i have a similar problem,
would want to know how u solved it with m-deejay roms, although
the problem does not seem to happen with Sergio core series android rom though atleast on my hd2 ...i am using Sergio core series wm rom with m-deejays 1.6 revolution rom...what wm rom, radio and android rom combo are u using at present?
thanks
well i have that issue from the beggining i stated using android
i had never a pin on my som card... but after 10 reboots the phone will boot just fine
will try to boot without sim (A)
Android reboots because there are process working on background on Windows mobile.
Turn off your HTC sense on WM, and try a boot loader that allows you to boot your Android within 3 seconds of windows start up.
and before doing all of this, Format your SD to FAT32 .
this idea i will try, because i never had a pin enabled anyway...so turn off winmo senses?

[Q] Why does WP7 keep restarting?

I just installed WP7 on my HD2 and it restarts every 20 mins or. No error messages, everything went smoothly. Everything is working as well, although I haven't activated my phone yet. Is this normal behavior for an un-activated phone?
EDIT: Actually it restarts more like every 15 mins now. It also deletes all my info I set up (email, contacts, etc).
Maybe it is the SD card. Did you try another one?
I only have one SD card. I was running android on it fine this morning but I just read in the instructions that some SD cards aren't compatible. I guess I'll go buy another one.
Yes you sd card is not supported
check DFT release log its mentioned there
with some memory cards you will get random restrarts
Yeah, I'm experiencing similar behavior right now. I installed WP7 last night and at first it wouldn't read my SD card, after doing a full (boring and long) format to FAT32 it was still not getting recognized by WP7. I hard reset my phone with the card inside and VOILA! It was finally recognized. Then I moved some music from Zune on to it and went to sleep. Woke up this morning and there's was no music in my phone, did a soft reset and music appeared! But now it just keeps restarting randomly. I'm using the original 16gb that came with my HD2 and I can't afford a new SD at the moment!
Dammit! Phone restarted with the 8GB card...
Thread moved to HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A and General
I am having somewhat of the same issue. however mine only reboots when phone is in sleep mode and upon rebooting it resets everything. But if you turn the phone off and back on, all settings returns. I am not sure if this is an sd card problem because the sd card I have is one of the sd cards that is supposed to be on the list of working cards and also the rebooting is not random, only happens while phone is in sleep mode.
It's happening to me also!! I'm using the sd card that came with my cell... any solutions yet?
Yes there is:another card.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Yeah only solution is to get a different card. I traded my mother my 16GB from my HD2 for the 8GB from her MyTouch/Magic and I haven't had the restarting problem ever since. I hope to upgrade to a good 32GB or a 16GB that works in the future, but for now 8GB will have to do.
Radio
I had this same problem when i tried the radio from the thread on how to flash to WP7.
I solved my problem by simply updating my radio to the latest.
There is a TMOUS radio thread in the winmo 6.5 dev section.

Good advice. My phone has not been running smoothly all day long after reflash.
Here's what happens to me and why I havent been bothered by it.
Basically the phone has been working top notch since I flashed it. No hiccups etc.
There are certain instances when I turn off my phone at will, and turn it back on the MAGLDR screen starts, then the DFT splash shows up and it reboots once or twice and then boots up fine like nothing.
I have not had any reboots while on the OS at all. Just when Im gonna turn it on, and has only occurred three times since WP7 was flashed. I dont lose settings or anything like that, everything is intact AFAIK. Anyone else?

Are you using the stock sd card?
OK, I have 1 question regarding accepted SD cards.
I'm not having this reboot issue but want to make sure if I understood correctly.
I have a kingston 2gig class4 card.
I have formatted it in windows, put the card in the phone (with wp7 installed) and made a HARD RESET (using vol down x 2);
The phone started superbly, I have wifi access with SD inserted.
about phone shows 1.6GB free space now;
When I connect the phone to zune software it reports 900 megs free
When I pull the card out and insert it to winxp sp3 it reports it has 200 megs ALL.
I know about how to format the sd back but I just want to understand how WP7 uses the SD card.
Can anyone explain? What partions does wp7 creates and how it manages the SD spacE?
What's with the different reports about free space (about phone and zune ? )
Thank you
i had tested for the forum with my SDcard 2Gb and my phone only restart so if a have my 16Gb SD HC my phone is OK !! and work fine !!

blackSideSeven v2.05.7592 installing problem

Hy everyone;
Because i am not allowed to post in the development forum i had to post my problem here...
I had the "HD2O© v1.14 WP7 BUILD 7.0.7392.0 NODO" ROM and now want to flash "blackSideSeven v2.05.7592".
I execute the "Task29" Utility. And made a HardReset.
Then i installed the Mango ROM like i did it by HD2O before in the MAGLDR.
But now the problem is that only the HTC Screen appears and nothing else.
I also installed it a second time, same problem...
What can i do?
EDIT: Now i flashed HD2O again and it works perfect.
So, only blacksideseven not works...

i know...bad english^^
I had the same problem with the latest XBmod ROM. After installation it just stops in the HTC screen.
I also didnt get help so far...
Did you try another Mango ROM?
Maybe you take out your SDCard, format it with some proper format tool to make it clean.
then you reformat the fone with task29.
then you try again.
its also 2.06 out now. try that.
I can just say for myself that I only tried the XBmod ROM. I did Task29 etc... SDFormatter... nothing!
I dont have a SD Card in my HD2
I do find it kind of odd that I'm unable to flash mango again. It all started when I decided to flash blacksideseven 2.06 rom from elfinlazz mango, which has been working. I've always been able to flash WP7 without ever having to do task29. Well, in the process of flashing blacksideseven I had a problem as it was throwing an error everytime it reached part.004. I tried it two more times with the same result. Then I moved to a different port and successful on the second attempt. It never worked as either it was caught in a boot cycle or it was just freeze at the HTC screen. I decided to do task29 and reflash magldr and the rom again but still can not get in. I tried elfinlazz rom again and then Yuki's but still no luck. Changed SD cards and nada! So as of right now I'm currently starting everything back from scratch by doing task29 and then magldr and stock 6.5 and then back to mango to see what happens.
P.S. As I'm writing 6.5 started up with no problems! Need to charge the phone because I've been at this since last night. I hate this!
Edit: It worked. But, you know what? I think I'm staying with 6.5 now. I mean WP7 was fun for me for 6 months that it was on my phone from dft original all the way up to mango beta 1. I found myself using my android side more often than WP7 every since Mango because I needed something reliable as WP7 mango had issues due to its beta stage. Not even 20 minutes passed before my WP7 got a no sim error! I thought I needed to restart it anyways and on the subsequent boot up it rebooted 5 times before it got stuck on the htc screen for 35 minutes. Another manual reboot worked but 20 minutes later it just went to no sim error again, so I decided i'm not gonna take this headache anymore! Elfinlazz rom previous was good but there were certain things I needed like data that didn't work 100% of the time. Again, it was fun. I believe I may go back some day. Hopefully somebody will work out the SD card issue because I believe this is the main problem I have with WP7. Maybe some workaround in the future. Good luck guys!
Now i have installed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1157535 and it works without problems...
Thats the ROM I had before trying to flash Blacksideseven. It was fine for a few days and then after that the data stopped working regularly. Then about a few days ago data disappeared entirely! That is what prompted me to try a different ROM. Now I'm stuck back with 6.5. Eww! Now it reminds me of how clunky this OS is. Been on it for few hours and I'm missing my WP7 already! Thank god I still have my android.
