Xoom $100 off,no contract needed - Xoom General

On Motorola store, with coupon MOTOXOOM
Saw this on fatwallet:
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/1079153/
Still too epensive for me, unless Motorola automagically makes the 25% off code work again, I'm gonna wait for the $539 wifi-only version!

I jumped on signed in pulled it up got a manager in best buy and price matched!!!! Woooohoooo now I like my Xoom even better! Lol

Pricing between stores

So the epic 4g has finally been announced - august 31 for $250. Is there any chance that other retailers like best buy or radio shack will sell the phone for more like 200? It seems as though most phones are priced at 200 already. Will the epic see a drop in price anywhere?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
I don't think any stores can sell it for a different price. The best you can expect is instant rebates instead of mail in at places like Best Buy and maybe a gift card like a lot of places did for the Evo and Droid X
Physical stores don't tend to sell for less. However websites do. On Amazon the captivate and vibrant were both $150 on release day, and on the 2nd day they had both hit $99.99. I could see the epid 4g going as $200 then $150 or maybe $150 then $100, it's hard to say for sure though.
It would be nice. The mail in rebates don't help offset the cost very well. You have to have the phone for 30 dats before you can submit it and then up to 12 weeks to receive it. In the mean time you have to pay $350 up front.

Radioshack just called me 2day concerning the epic. Preorders start Friday 8/13/2010 with $50 down, u get a gift card and pay the rest on the 31st. Overall price is $249. This is at the waterfront store here in Pittsburgh, pa. Thought y'all would want to know.

@ygulp does radio shack offer instant rebates??
About amazon:
how hard is it to get one ot the phones off of amazon? Do they sell out quick?
Also, do you have to go through the rebate process to get money back? This sure sounds like a great deal vs buying through sprint. My only issue is availability.

Can't comment on availability much. I have only been watching the Galaxy S phones on there, but the Captivate and Vibrant both had 0 issues with stock, I never once saw them sell out on amazon. The evo I have even seen on amazon once or twice, and I've never seen it anywhere else in stock online. The droid X is shipping in 1-2 weeks though. Popular phones get backstocked. The EPIC 4g is it hard to say whether it will be backordered or not for sure. There isn't really even a guarantee that Amazon will get it on the first day or at all.
The EVO 4G btw isn't discounted at all despite being out for so long, but other phones from sprint are, I think stock availability is likely to play a major role in pricing.
Thanks for your help and advice! Much appreciated to save a little $

I reserved an epic at BestBuy but I'm checking Amazon and Newegg on release day.
Hey kennethlongshaw,
How did you pre order already from best buy? I don't see any epic 4g pre order info on their site. I'll try calling one of their stores tomorrow. I would really like to purchase through best buy so I don't have to do a rebate.

Verizon Really Likes My $$$

So i finally went about returning my Xoom today at my local Verizon store where i purchased it. It was an interesting experience because low and behold. Verizon wasnt very anxious to give me back my money. I first had to wait in line for 30 mins just to speak to a CSR. Then when i finally got to the front of the line and requested to return my Xoom
excuse #1 " I dont think i have enough money in my register to refund your money at this time"
my response: "why cant you just get the money from someone elses register, are you saying that unless this money comes specifically from your register theres no other source of money in the whole store to fulfill my refund?
her answer "Yes" "but if i liked i could take my Xoom back and come back at a later time when they had more money".
Then i notified her that i payed part cash/part credit and asked if she had enough money to fullfuill the cash portion and the rest on my card. simple enough. She suddenly became baffled and required managers assistance.
Then they asked if i had a verizon wireless account and they could credit my account to the tune of $573(my refund amount) essentially getting their xoom back and keeping my money at the same time. um THANKS BUT NO THANKS.
So finally they were able to scrounge up some cash and process my original request to refund my cash payment and put the rest back on my card.
The part i dont understand is that the girl who was helping me by the end of this was giving me major attitude and begrudginly gave me back my money like she took it out of her own purse. I even said thanks and have a nice day and she totally ignored me.
All in all no love lost i took my refund and went and put it towards the purchase of a brand new LED tv for my bedroom.
Lol get more money I guess is the solution

He's sharing the experience of returning his xoom just incase other users are planning to do the same.
This just in: every carrier ever in the history of the world doesn't wanna give you a refund.
Cool thread. Is this news? lol.
Thats odd because I did the old 30 day no questions asked on the droid 2 and they had no problem and anytime I want to return something they are always hopping to it at my store. I guess it might be a different setting, its a smaller town and I am always in there buying stuff, so maybe they know I will be back and just something else and get my money then. I was considering returning my xoom but just the trouble of returning it is too much for me. The longer I keep it the more I like it. I am just so used to the 10in screen, just looking forward to some cool roms for it and I will be fine with it. It was a little early as nothing in android was ready for the 3.0 + tegra 2 combination, but as devs make apps for it and 3.0 matures under googles hand it will become a strong platform (my opinion).

Yes there was a restocking Fee. Its $70 for tablets. So my purchase price(subsidised) was close to $650. BTW in case noone was aware apparently the ETF for the xoom isnt the same as with Smartphones. On my reciept it stated that the ETF was only $175 not the $350 they usually charge. you know, if anybody wanted to save 200 bucks and definitely intended to keep their Tab for a while.

You're lucky you even got cash back. As I work for a Verizon corporate store, anything over 175 goes back to the cust as a check from financial or acct credit.

Motorola Atrix for $49.99 at Amazon Wireless!

Don't know how many have seen this news already, but just wanted to keep my XDA brethren posted.
Amazon Wireless has the Atrix for $49.99 as of today, with a new 2-year contract. Grab 'em before it's gone!
An amazing deal for an amazing phone, I must say.

I just wanted to point out that this is most likely still based on where you are buying the phone. On Amazon Wireless you have to add it to your cart in order to see the price, and that requires you to enter your zip code. For me it is still showing as $99.

Lapdock prices are absurd

we should probably go above and beyond to make sure motorola doesn't discover that yous guys have basically provided me with a way to justify the price of a lapdock, i mean, otherwise they're gonna "upgrade" it, and jack the price up over tablets...tablets that don't require a 500 dollar attachment
look at this
http://www.google.com/search?q=moto...gc.r_pw.&fp=718c35d66707d000&biw=1152&bih=567
you see how dramatically the price varies? what in **** is going on with this thing? is it going to be a thing, or something fanboys hoard knowing damn well i won't give them a ****ing dime?
just my thoughts
Im thinking about doing the 175 for the refrub on the at&t website. I doubt it'll go lower than that.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
the att website has it for 175
EDIT:
damn, got beat to it
so new lapdocks are $299 while refurbs are $175.
why... do many online retailers and such show lapdocks at more than $299?
should they not adjust their prices to what the current price from the manufacturer is?
i understand that people sell their items for what they want.
but it just doesn't make sense to overprice something that you don't want to keep. it's like when you buy a car. as soon as it gets driven off the lot, it's worth less. it never increases in value.
unless it becomes a classic or something.
Just be on the lookout for a good deal. I just sold mine on CL for $150...
Lol, just checked on Craigslist vegas, a guy selling it fot $400, and he's giving a link with $499 brand new. Better include the phone with it on that price

lol that so funny
im sorry guys if this is against the rules but I have one for sale. ill sell it for 150. im in nj and sold my ATRIX for cash for a prime and I have yet to sell the ATRIX
i got a message from att a couple of weeks ago to get the webtop for 99$. I'm in canada and it is for att customers but i thought i would just let u guys know
webtop ≠ lapdock
thanks, though.
both for 99

[Q] GameStop vs. Play Store

I'm kind of on the fence on whether or not I want to order from GameStop. There's the obvious cost benefit with no shipping, but I haven't been able to confirm if it has all the same bonuses as the Play Store. Plus they list the shipping date as July 31st, and I can barely wait for it as it is. What's your guys opinion on the better choice? I wanna order it soon, I'm really excited for it!

Nope, I've already pre-ordered from Play Store. Anyone that pre-ordered from GS, have they given you a release date yet?
No date per se, just says it'll ship in 3-4 weeks.
Questions go in the Q&A section
When I spoke to the guy at my GS he said hat they have a ''soft date'' of 7/31 but in the ''training'' they received to push these tablets they were told mid july. When they have a hard date it'll be listed as a ''street'' date.
I'll be preordering at Gamestop, 30% extra trade in credit if i trade my Xoom so why not!

If you have anything to trade, go with Gamestop. I traded in my 64gb iPod Touch 4th Generation that I never use anymore. It was in "Like New" condition, so the trade-in value was $203. With the extra 30% I got around $265 for it. With the original cost and tax of the tablet ($266.05), I owed $0.85. So I basically got the tablet for less than a dollar. I had saved up enough money to buy it, but now I'm pocketing the $270 that would have been spent on it which is a pretty damn good feeling.
Preordered mine through currys in the UK
Says in the site : estimated arrival time 21st july
I'm going with gamestop.
I save $13 and have to wait a week longer? Sounds like I got an option for slower shipping.
And I can walk there after class the day of, instead of waiting for the mail or dealing with tracking down a package( which is a pain in the city)
Plus it gives me somewhere to swap if I get a dud
