So I did some searching and looked back a few pages in this section.
I'm wondering if there is a way to get the red LED to flash for notifications while the phone is charging. It seems that the blue LED stays lit once it's fully charged and it does not let the red LED blink for notifications. Coming from a rant it was nice to look at the phone and see the LED flashing, letting me know there was a new text. I am rooted so if there is something that I can flash to take care of this, point me in that direction. I know someone out there has thought of this already.
Little things like this make me wonder if going to a smartphone was a "smart" decision lol

Can anyone explain to me HTC's logic in this:
"The indicators are listed in order of priority. For example, if your device is connected to a power adapter and is charging the battery, the LED will be solid amber and will not switch to a flashing green light even if there is a pending notification."
I keep my phone on the charger a lot of the time and I have missed several voice mails and text messages as a result of this behavior. Is there a way to change this (I am stock/unrooted) or anything in the marketplace that will fix it?

HTC does this, and it drives me crazy. It was the same way on my TP2 - if charging, it'll be orange. If fully charged, it will be green. It will stay that way, even in the presence of a notification.
I'd love to see green flashing over the orange when charging. Maybe the LED flashing OFF with a notification while fully charged. Probably not going to happen though, it never did for the TP2.
You'll need to root to fix something like this, if we even have access to it.
There's an app called always flash that does exactly that you just need root

I tried Handcent and shipped SMS client and both behave the same, when a new message comes through, the LED only blinks for a few seconds. After that, it will only blink every so often.
If I wasn't near the phone, I would need to turn on the screen to see if I have a new message. Is there a way to get the LED to flash continuously? I'm gussing this is a power savings measure?
Is this the same way for everyone else? I'm running DJ29, if that makes a difference.
Thanks.
It's another one of those things Samsung has failed at getting to work properly and does not acknowledge there is a problem.
The fix is to use Missed Reminder.
My settings are Led blink interval = 500, Notification intervals = 1s, and Number of repeats = Forever. This keeps the LED blinking continuously.
I'm trying to post this on a few threads. I know how annoying it was when my led would only blink 5 times then stop. My epic had that problem since the day i got it. I ordered a couple of cheap batteries and a charger from ebay and while using the new batteries i discovered that my led blinks perfectly now. Been using them for probably 2 weeks and have not had a LED problem since. You can get 2 batteries and a charger for $13 and it fixed my led problem.

I use missed reminder as well. It's the only thing that seems to work ok, but as Isira Said... blame Samsung. I was trying to figure out the LED thing like the day it came out, and after beating a dead horse for months back in 2010, I had to look for other options as the above.
This is one thing I loved about the TP2 from HTC and when I lost it after getting the Epic, it was frustrating because yes, I had to turn the screen on here and there to see if anyone sent anything.
I use SMS Popup and my notification LED flashes the color i want, at the rate i want, for as long as i want, for the most part >_>
Well i woke up to pick up my phone and it was blinking a yellowish orange color it wouldnt respond at all so i pulled the battery now it wont even turn on or anything a little help. i had the bootloader unlocked and rooted r800x.
ok so i took it to verizon then they desided to send me a new one then the phone had red blinking light then came back on??? o well got a whole new one and this one working
I was using my phone for a while, up until I had to put it in my bag and when I returned it was just fine. After a while when I went to check the time me and my friend noticed the phone was blinking red! I was about to freak out we tried to boot it a couple of times but it wouldn't work! up until it did and we saw the google logo and it booted up safely, I was in a relief. So a few hours later when my device was on my desk for a while, I came back and found out the red light blinking again! So I tapped the power button and found out the phone was still on, It never even turned off! The red light was also gone afterwards. It was weird, It would've shut down wouldn't it?
Anyways, what could possibly be wrong with my phone? I don't want to be the next victim in the red light category!
Is there something I can do about it to make sure it won't happen in the future?
No, there isn't really anything you can do. If you installed light flow or something similar it could have been blinking red because a light flow event was triggered.
