They only other way would be going back via backup and syncing your stuff with google..you made a backup before installing Liberty right?

Yes I did will try that

I had the same problem when I flashed Liberty. The way I got around it was by flashing back to my previous ROM, backed up my apps and data with Titanium Backup, and performed and Export of my contacts (found in the menu options while in the Contacts app).
Flashed Liberty again, Imported my contacts (also found in the Contacts menu), and performed a Batch Restore with Titanium Backup.
I've been in love ever since.

At first glance of this I thought your SD card wasn't being recognized...
But that wouldn't make sense because of the fact that you were able to restore your apps from your SD card.
Check your SD card for a file named 00001.vcf in your SD's root. If you can't find it, then the Export wasn't successful.
Since you already have your APPs back, I would suggest you make a Backup of that in the case that you wanted to try it again. If you do try it again, then make sure that (after you export, but before restoring Liberty) you check your SD card for that file (00001.vcf). If it exported succesfully, then restore Liberty and Import.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

You could simply back up your contacts with mybackup pro and restore them after flashing the rom

[Q] Titanium Backup - contacts data

I have rooted my Droid X and installed Titanium Backup. I want to do a backup but am concerned with including the contact and calendar data. Since I am on an Exchange account and Gmail, I don't need to back up the actual data files. What are the names of the data files for contacts and calendar? There are several "Contacts...." and "Calendar..." files. One says storage, another data, which one do I exclude?

i have found if i restore ANY data i have the syncing symbol on my notifications bar all the time, i do the batch Restore all missing apps and click app only from now on
If you have them syncd to your Gmail account, they are ALWAYS backed up. Menu, Settings, Accounts & Sync, check the "Contacts" check box and all of your contacts sync to Gmail.
I do understand that the are essentially backed up via sync with Gmail and/or corp exchange. That is why I don't want to backup that data with Titanium Backup. When I open Titanium Backup, I do the following.
Select Backup/Restore tab
Select Menu>Batch
Select Run Backup all system data
When I scroll down, I see the following Contacts files
Contacts 2.2.1
Contacts Storage 2.2.1
Contacts Sync 2.2.1
Contacts Sync Adapter 2.2.1
ContactsData 2.2.1
ContactsUnconnected 2.2.1
Which of those files should I deselect so if I need to do a restore I don't receive duplicate contacts?

This has been fixed in the newer versions. (At least in my experience) the last restore I did with TiB I restored EVERYTHING and do not have the sync symbol stuck there anymore. This used to happen to me also but not as of late with the newer updates of Ti.

I have gotten a replacement DroidX and this has happened to others as well. While other I had did not have this phenomenon. But after I reestablished root and installed Titanium Backup, i notice "ContactsUnconnected 2.2.1" is frozen. I unfreeze it, reboot, and it is frozen again. And I never froze it to begin with. And my previous DroidX did not have it frozen do I have yet another possessed DX? With a mind of it's own? Wanting to be a real Android (boy)?" (bad Pinochio" reference). What exactly DOES "ContactsUnconnected" do? Is it still an unknown variable as it has been since day one?
Many thanks in advance. (Please ignore my phone info on my profile if it still says WinMo. As I have not had a chance to update my info yet)

restore contacts from nandroid

Hi,
I did a backup from nandroid before to upgrade to a other ROM. Could we just restore contacts from one of nandroid backup?
If so, which part of the backup should i restore? There are boot,system,data,cache,sd-ext.
Thanks
No, i really don't think there's such app. Just no point to creat it. Spend 20mins and you'll get your stuff back. Backup current ROM -> restore old one -> backup contacts -> restore just created ROM back up.

Arf, my backup didn't include contacts. I may have done it after downgrading from 1.72 to 1.34 :S
Anyway, i did your solution I went back to RUU, transfer data from my old phone, export contacts to SD. Back to GV1.5 and import contacts from SD.
Could we save contacts from Titanium backup free, because the contacts/call...cts storage 2.3.2 seems to store only call log...
Your phone should automatically backup and restore contacts from whatever google account you have or setup on your phone. There's no need to have a contact backup utility on this OS. If you don't have a data plan then use wifi to do it.
Not everyone wants to sync with google
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Well that's understandable.
There should be an option when you're looking at you contacts to export them to the sdcard. Just pull up the menu and click 'import/export' then export to sdcard. When you restore your phone do the same thing except import from the sdcard. Not sure why 2.3 only exported your call log though, maybe you have to switch the contacts to phone storage o something.
I have synced with google and got many more contacts that are not supposed to be there or the same contact in triple...
How i can delete all contact and try again? Delete one by one is quite annoying
EDIT: I'm on Gingervillain 1.5

Did you backup all user apps + system data using Titanium Backup?
If so, clean install EB13, re-root, download TB from Market and restore missing apps and system data. There you go.
If you did not, then you're SOL :/
I'm pretty sure you're intelligent enough to backup, however.
I always did full backup, will the latest one click root work on the update to Froyo..because I had the one-click before
Your contacts should have returned when you synced up with your Google account.
You DID sync your contacts to your Google account... didn't you???

You actually can back-up your contacts from the Contact app on your phone. It puts them right on your SD card in a .vcf file too
Whosdaman: Yeah, that's the best option and I've been using that on my phone too.
problem solved,I already thanked those who helped....Much appreciated!

[Q] custom rom importing

is there any way to imports contacts and apps (mainly contacts) from my stock rom to custom rom? i am a noob so useful links would be helpful
Sync contacts with google or try pc companion.
Use titanium backup for apps.
you can backup you contacts on sd card with stock contacts app and then, after installing new rom, you can import it from sd card back

MyBackup didn't save! Recover SBF files in 2.3.3 anyone?

Hey all,
OK, so as the title suggests.
I installed and did a backup of my contacts and apps using the MyBackup app and saved my contacts and apps to my SDCard, but they've gone walkabout! Don't ask, cos I don't know how or where they've now gone! Searched the SD card completely and there's nothing! I've since updated to 2.3.3 but MyBackup files have disappeared!
I've found I still have an old *.sbf file that was from my 1.6 to 2.1 update. Hopefully all is not lost and someone can point me in the direction of an app that can strip out the contact info/vCards from here?
Not too fussed by the apps... but a bit concerned I've lost all my contacts?
So... *.sbf app anyone??
Fingers crossed!

Thanks, but as I say, I searched the SDCard and the rerware folder doesn't exist!
The exact same thing happened to me. Luckily I sync all my contacts with google and was able to use back up and restore app to restore my messages and such from an older backup I made a while ago.

Thanks... that'll be my last ditched attempt. My GMail account it heaving with contacts so I don't really want to sync my phone unless necessary.
I'm still hopeful there's a legacy .sbf file convertor out there somewhere (?)
