[Q] Edit / Deleta Google Account on the Tab - Galaxy Tab General

I changed the password on my Gmail account. Now I need to do the same in my Tab account but have not been able to figure out so far how to do it. I am not talking about email clients but the Tab Accounts and sync where all the accounts are listed.
I tried removing the account in order to recreate but the Tab tells me that it is required by some applications and that I can remove it only by a factory resett which I am avoiding to do. Even if I tied read here about someone trying to unsuccessfuly do that as well.
Is there any way to change the password for the Gmail account on the Tab?

I had the same exact issue and had no way around it but to reset the tab. Make sure you have a good data+apps backup

Hi in my case I frequently forget the pwd and have to reset it...when that happens and next time I try to access market, a red triangle message pops up wan my for credentials.try a reboot and then market and see...

Put in another sim card and it will ask for the password.

Push Email - Noob question, sorry

If I want to have push email for my main gmail account do I have to set it up as an Exchange account?
The shortest poll interval I see for any other (ie pop etc) account type is 5min
If then (to preserve battery etc) I want to switch from push to interval email is there any "harm" in using an exchange account-type for a gmail account?
My phone already syncs contacts/market etc with the main account that I have as the exchange account but want to understand the situation a little better
GGGrrrrr! This morning all 4 email settings (1 x echange gmail; 1 x pop3/imap gmail; 2x hotmail) appear to have been deleted from the HTC Mail App.
I cannot add the Exchange on in again as it tells me this account has already been setup.
I tried to delete it from the Account/Sync in Settings but even after saying it is deleting it is still there [albeit syncing nothing].
Anyone suggest how I can sort this? For the time being I have added the main account as a normal gmail account [except of course now it preferentially comes via the Gmail App first!]
No idea why you lost your email settings, I personally would blame Steve Jobs.
In relation to your other issue, I don't really see the point in creating an Exchange account to sync your Gmail account (two pushes will drain your battery faster than just one).
In Settings > Accounts & Sync > Gmail you can set the sync interval for your Gmail account.
Thanks
How can I delete the Exchange account then?
As stated I have tried to get rid of it using the "remove account" in the Settings/Sync area but it is still there.....
Actually I have just googled it and it seems I might been to do a "factory reset" (ie start the build all over again) to get rid of it.
What I need to do first is find out if there is any way to backup my Apps (and their settings - my son would not forgive me for deleting his Angry birds pregress!)
Will search but any tips gratefully received!
No... don't factory reset.
I know you have tried this already but...
Just try again to remove the account via Settings > Accounts and Sync then select your account then look at the bottom of the screen. Do you see 'Remove Account'?
Click it
If not, go to your email program, select the account you want to delete and go into Account Settings and try and delete it from there.
Sorry I wasn't clear
I did do exactly as you said to remove the account: clicking on it in the sync settings and pressing remove (I get the warning abot losing all calendar etc etc)
I did that multiple times.
I even rebooting after doing it (as it was still there) but it is still there and still apparently syncing (green circle still there) even though all sync options were unticked.
If I click on the account (where it gives the option to adjust settings) it justs says error the Mail app has returned an error and asks me to force close (every time)
In the Main app it is not in the Accounts screen do I can't delete it from there (even though when I try to add it again it tells me error the server says this account already exists)
Hence my frustration (over a small matter I grant you but small matters can bev very irritating!)
In that case all I can suggest is:
Make sure that the account in question is not set as default (just in case this prevents you from deleting it). Choose another account and set it as default. Then try deleting.
Failing that, try going into the account settings and delete each of the individual fields and resave the 'blank' account (assuming it allows you - probably won't). If it does, then try to delete it.
I've just tried deleting my account and it worked fine.
As a last ditch attempt, if you have 'Titanium Backup', you could backup the application and data relating to Angry Birds and reinstall it following your hard reset or whatever.
PS Whenever I hard reset, bugger all happens.
I really appreciate your continued help.
Yep sadly it WAS set as the default account but I did make the gmail (non-exchange) account the default account and try again but no difference.
If I can't find any other way I was planning to just delete the data.img file and let it rebuild it but first backup the games files and figured that would reset everything.
I could then restore from Titanium [I have a horrible feeling it will go pear-shaped!]
It would be a PITA to have to d/l all the apps again but even more irritating for the kids to lose their hard-fought game-saves!
In the meantime I got so hacked-off with it all that I have booted back into WinMo!
Ok, we're getting desperate/funky now. Try this...
Make a copy of your data.img.
Boot into Android.
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All Applications and select email.apk
When that opens click on the clear data and clear cache (if they are not greyed out).
Go back into email and see if that has cleared them?
If so, hoo'bloody'ray and reset your email accounts.

[Q] How to change default Gamil account

Having HTC Wildfire and now want to change Default gmail account being used by all app, mostly Gtalk. I have 5 Gmail accounts on my cell and want to switch between.
The only way i see is to Factory reset phone. By this i guess i will loose all paid apps !
Is there anyone who can help me out without getting my phone Factory Reset !!
Any help will b greatly appreciated !~~
If I understand you correctly you want to delete some of yours accounts and change them...you can do this: go to your mail..press menu..more...Account list-here you can change your accounts
And if you want to delete them...when you change your account go again : mail..press menu..more...settings..at the end you have delete account.
Hope I halp...
Cheers
Oh yea if I halp click thanks.
I had this problem. Accidently signed in to a Gmail account that wasn't my main one, and it was locked to that as primary I'm sure there is something in the system you could delete to revoke the linked account, but the easiest way is to just do a factory reset and/or reflash the ROM.
No you won't lose paid apps, unless you did something silly and bought apps on more than one Google account! Purchases are always locked to that specific gmail address, wiping the phone doesn't matter as soon as u login to market you'll see all the Purchased Items in there, ready to download.
Edit: give me 24 hours, ill see if I can find a way to do it via ADB/DroidExplorer.

[Q] Change Gmail Password

I was forced to change my password today due to 30 day timing on the email password.
So where in the Atrix do I change the gmail password? I tried, accounts, gmail but there is no password box/option in there.
Any ideas?
I'm not understanding: GMAIL doesn't force you to change passwords at thirty days.

Well I work for the largest company in the world that uses Gmail as it's email system. Therefore gmail has corporate requirements of password changes.
Not no matter that I need to change the password on my phone and I cannot find out where to do it. Any help?

Delete the account, and add it back up. Problem solved
"Therefore gmail has corporate requirements of password changes."
I understand now, but I think you mean "our corporate IP has requirements of password changes". GMAIL is incidental, their email policy probably applies to all email.
I poked around and saw no way to change passwords, that's odd. Before you try diablo's solution...Try changing the password, then accessing the account with the phone. It MIGHT be one of those invisible Google things, if the password is rejected I would expect the phone to ask you to confirm/re-enter the password. The same way that a lot of email clients do, when they get a "password rejected" messager from a mail server.
Or...ask the whiz kids in corporate IT.<G> I always figured if they're that concerned with security, they should ante up and buy RSA fobs for everyone. THAT's almost security. Passwords? Is it under your mouse pad, or your keyboard?<VBG>
if you use the actual gmail app on the phone, it should ask at some point when it tries to check.
Found this from some other forum:
I needed to change my gmail password for security reasons, but I knew this would mess with the G1 account too, since they use the same login info. I searched for a way to change/update the password on the phone and couldn't find it. So, on a whim I went to google.com/accounts on the browser, signed in, then clicked on "Change Password". After changing it successfully, I went back to the Home Screen on the phone, opened the GMail app, clicked on Menu, then Refresh. I got a sync error, but the notification gives an option to re-enter your password. I entered the new password, and voila, it worked.
Even the reasoning for this is pretty convincing:
i think they designed it like this so if you got your phone "stolen/lost" you HAVE a way to change your password via online rather than you phone cause obvious your phone is stolen/lost =D

I did this on my friends captivate and it worked. However there is no popup for a failed sync that allows you to update the password on the Atrix.
This is insane. Why would I be forced to delete an account and add bak to change a password.

Something is not right.
Look in ur 'status bar' or in the pull down notifications screen.
Are u sure sync ran? Try sending a test mail from a different account to this and see if it retrieves it properly. Reboot phone n see if the sync was using a cached connection.

This is insane. I tried synching in accounts and in gmail app as well. It fails but no option to reenter the password. Even google talk fails but only a retry option or a cancel option.
Since this is my master account I have to factory reset.
This just can't be right.

Wait. Try going to settings --> applications, and clear data for gmail, gmail storage, etc n see if that works.
I read horror stories about this but when I changed my password I was prompted. I forced a gmail sync which failed and it put an exclaimation mark in the notification bar which I dragged down and clicked. Prompted for a new password and then I was good to go. This was on a phone with Sense and 2.2
Only thing I would worry is if moto screwed it up but I doubt it.

Nope that didn't work either...
AT&T Can't figure it out
Motorola Andriod Level 1,2 & 3 can't figure it out
This is absolutely insane that you cannot change a gmail password. Can anyone else try it? You can always change yours back...I can't since I cannot reuse passwords for 180 days.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to return the phone since I love it but I can't go through this every 30 days!

It worked fine for me. Got the little exclamation point notification, clicked, and entered my new password. Are you not getting that? Could it be some setting on your company's side? When you try and refresh your gmail app, does it just do nothing?

I have tried to sync in both the gmail app and sync in the accounts area in settings. Nothing really happens and definitely no notifications of failure in the app. When I try to sync in settings>accounts I get the following: Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." That is next to a sync logo with the red exclamation point in it. That notification appears in the window at the bottom and not in the notification bar.
When I have cell access again I will change my personal gmail account and see if I get a notification.
Ok so a bit more movement on the topic. I do get the notification that asks for the new password on my personal gmail account. I do not get that notification for the corporate gmail account.
Any ideas now?
Well it is working now. Did a factory reset, setup account again. It was working, changed my corporate gmail password and this time on t he phone I got the notification.
Only difference was that I did not have it rooted at the time. Hopefully it doesn't happen again!

[Q] Google account sign in failure - password doesn't match? SOLVED

Hi guys. I just got back from Best Buy with my Iconia and set up my wifi. When I'm trying to register with my gmail account (the same one I use for my phone) it tells me the password/account do not match.. it's simply not true though. I've entered it multiple times and double checked.
Just to be sure it wasn't locked I went to my PC and logged into my gmail account without any issues.
Any ideas?
edit: Ok I figured it out. I have the google 2 factor authentication and I had to use an application specific password for my tablet.

The process com.motorola.service.main has stopped unexpectedly

The process com.motorola.service.main has stopped
unexpectedly
What I found is that when you create your ID/email address for the first time as yor Motoblur ID and use an existing email address for your motoblur ID this is going to cause the process to stop... When you usean gmail or yahoo email (as I did) for your motoblur id and then after that was done I add that account to the "accounts" so that I could get emails from google and yahoo and that's what is causing the process.com to crash. So what i did was create the motoblur ID and then comfirmed it via the email link you receive(YOU MUST CONFIRM). Then do a factory data reset, it should remind you of your motoblur ID before you continue with the reset. Make sure you write down your ID and the password then do the reset. Oncethe reset has been done you can setup the phone and skip the motoblur setup. If you phone is unlocked like mine was then you setup your APN andthen go to "accounts" and setup that same account for example as mine were "google" and "yahoo" accounts . set all your options to your liking and you should be good to go. I think the reason for it crashing is the conflict with them being the same account/names when you setup the accounts at the same(initial) time . I tried it both ways , trying to setup the motoblur account and the additional accounts at the same time it it crashed, but when I setup the motoblur and then did the factory data reset no issues. Hopes this helps... I have the defy+ MB526 using it in the USAwith straight talk. I think the principle is the same...
