[Q] Anybody seen Xoom flash on MotoDev yet? - Xoom General
Status: Connected
Jan Ninno (Listening)
Jan Ninno: Hi, my name is Jan Ninno. How may I help you?
William Russell: The Xoom's display says you have to flash Motorla's authorized software back to the device before you can re-lock it.
Where do I get the authorized software?
Jan Ninno: Hi William! Good day!
Jan Ninno: I apologize for the inconvenience, assuredly I will do my best to help you with this.
William Russell: The display says go to developer.motorola.com
Jan Ninno: Let me check this in our system. One moment, please.
William Russell: Not Adobe Flash
Jan Ninno: William, are you trying to "flash" the device?
William Russell: Yes
William Russell: To relock it for the LTE upgrade
Jan Ninno: Let me check this in our system. One moment, please.
Jan Ninno: Thank you for holding, my apologies for the delay.
Jan Ninno: Please refer to this website on how to back up all you data to the tablet before sending it to Verizon.
Jan Ninno: http://support.vzw.com/information/xoom_grg.html
William Russell: That doesn't say where to get the firmware.
Jan Ninno: Could you elaborate on what firmware are you asking for?
William Russell: It is on the screen. Hold on, you can see a URL image?
Jan Ninno: OK, take your time.
William Russell: See, you can't LOCK your device unless it is on authorized firmware. This is an issue particularly for those sending their units in for the LTE upgrade. Motorola has announced that the flash file will be publicly available, but hasn't done it yet.
William Russell: Look here: http://thefredelement.com/ac-images/xoom/xoom-boot-lock.jpg
William Russell: See "To obtain copies of software..?"
Jan Ninno: Thank you for that information.
Jan Ninno: Let me check this in our system. One moment, please.
Jan Ninno: One more moment please, while I find that information for you.
Jan Ninno: Thank you for holding, my apologies for the delay.
William Russell: Okay
Jan Ninno: William, are you a registered developer for Motorola?
William Russell: Yes
Jan Ninno: http://developer.motorola.com/support/
William Russell: I did and the firmware is not there.
William Russell: Do you have the exact link to the firmware?
Jan Ninno: Let me check this in our system. One moment, please.
Jan Ninno: Thank you for holding, my apologies for the delay.
William Russell: Hope it was worth it!
Jan Ninno: William, you have a very unique issue.
Jan Ninno: William, in order for you to obtain that file. You have to a registered developer with Motorola.
William Russell: I know developers and they can't get it.
Jan Ninno: You need to contact MotoDev themselves to obtain that.
William Russell: Can you provide that information?
Jan Ninno: Let me find that information for you.
Jan Ninno: Bear with me William.
William Russell: I rooted the device. Will that be an issue getting the LTE upgrade, if I haven't been able to restore the factory firmware?
Jan Ninno: Unfortunately, we are not MotoDev.
Jan Ninno: BUt I hope I was able to direct you to the right directions.
William Russell: Will the LTE UPGRADE be a problem?
Jan Ninno: No, they'll still Factory Data Reset the device.
William Russell: So rooting isn't a ban on the update?
Jan Ninno: I can't give that information out., I hope you understand.
William Russell: Does the Factory Data Reset make it like new?
Jan Ninno: Yes, still it won't remove the "Superuser" application.
William Russell: Okay, so basically unroot and do a factory reset and we are good, right?
William Russell: And to be clear, the flash files are available now for developers and that will never be for the public?
Jan Ninno: Yes, those files are only available FOR developers.
William Russell: And Developers can get them right now, correct?
Jan Ninno: Yes, that is correct.
William Russell: Thank you.
Jan Ninno: If you need any more information get in touch. Thanks from Motorola, bye!
I'm registered on motodev and I don't see anything..
