Just got mine today and have a question on how to proceed with Dexter's Mod.
The a7 is currently at v. PBJ8000.2.0124
Should I first update the firmware from eLocity's site (v. 2.0133) and then update with Dexter's v1.3 or should I just go straight to Dexter's?
Thanks,
_mr

[Q] mabey a stupid question - xda-developers
Thanks Netstat, I saw that one with yours and '5[Strogino]' replies,
however I didn't see where anyone had installed the latest firmware (2.0133)
I've seen references to v2.0121, & v2.0127 but haven't seen and can't figure out
where v2.0124 fits in. Probably mostly confusion on my part with all the reading
I've been doing since unpacking this puppy.
I wasn't certain if I had to have my tablet at v2.0127 before proceeding with
Dexter's mod or not.

I installed 2.0133 already. Nothing extraordinary, except improved bluetooth compatability

To me it seemed like your question was "should I update to the latest eLocity update before installing Dexter's Mod"
That being the case, your question was answered. Installing the latest eLocity update before elocitymod 1.3 would be pointless since by installing elocitymod you are wiping the device (getting rid of the update you just ran)
Maybe I linked the wrong thread, I'll have to check on that.

First off......Welcome to the forums and I hope you enjoy your new Elocity A7.
Second......I apologies for the initial attitude you received. The answer to your questions is that there is no need to update to the official rom. Dexter has not made another update to the rom that includes the new update. I'm sure that he will in time.
Finally........You will still be better off installing the dexter mod over the official. Just having the market makes a big difference. May I also suggest that you install Launcherpro as well. It's a much nicer and more fluid way to go.

Thanks Tetsuo! Precisely what I wanted to find out.
Dexter's Mod v1.3 flashed without any hiccups.
A couple of Apps that I had side-loaded under 2.0124 are acting up with the Mod, but I haven't had a chance yet to dig into them.
Having the Market is Great!
And my buddy just dropped off his A7 for flashing. Now we'll see if I can pull this
off twice in one week...!

Hi All,
I have tried looking in the dev section (please dont flame me lol) but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone tell me if there is a standard GSM 2.1 that I can load onto my hero in update.zip format. I dont mind about having root, but I want to keep the recovery image so I can install custom roms again at a later stage.
Anyone care to point me in the right direction, or tell me im retarded and I cant do this???
Thanks
I did a one before which worked perfect then I took it down because I got people complaining so I redid it... which did not work so perfect so I left it to others.

Thanks andrewb84uk,
That all seems to be working great! Pretty good linpack score too even with standard clock speed.
One other question, do you know what the latest radio version is and where I can get it?
I am running 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26 that i downloaded from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622 however that page hasn't been updated since March so I was wondering if there is a newer one that people are using?
Regards,

It is recommend you update to the latest one from here:

Most people will be using 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14.zip. As above the ROM is brilliant so if you choose to play with ROMS you can check that one out.
I rooted my HTC Wildfire using Unrevoked (latest version) couple days ago, just found out Froyo avalible but cannot update because of this.
I am in UK on Vodaphone Wildfire (Unlocked to use o2 sim)
I cannot find the factory RUU for Vodaphone UK?
I tried some 2.2 update RUU but come up with customer ID error
Have I lost out on froyo?
I got my vodaphone_buzz ota downloaded (50mb avg) but cant use it
Any help would be very much appriciated
*** Im not fussed if i lose root, infact i rather not have it tbh the hassle it gave***
Flash it with Wildpuzzle?
You could flash it with a new ROM like wildpuzzle or similar if you want sence. You can see this thread for available ROM's:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822181
I followed this guide to flash the ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
Hope it helps
howzit bud!
it's going to suck heavy for you if you download the actual froyo update, because you wont be able to root your phone again (unrevoked hasn't come out with an update that works on froyo)
Flash the SUnaAaBh v1.1.. it's basically the same and it's getting great results
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=879032
Thanks for the info guys, I like the sound of Sunaabh froyo + root

SUnaAaBh v1.1 is just as unstable as every other custom ROMs. It crashed everytime I ran it. Its just publicised incorrectly by the guy as best ROM. If you actually read the post you might find the self-praise disgusting, maybe.
Its up to you in the wild puzzle thread there is an un touched froyo update. Just flash it like any other custom rom.

I am pretty sure you are doing something seriously wrong. I have tested most of the custom ROM's out there (Currently on WildPuzzle coz I kinda prefer LWP and Sense), and, they have never (hardly, if ever), crashed on me.
Besides, I just checked the Sunnabh thread, it hardly looks like self praise. Most of them have just said the exact thing the ROM author claims his ROM does, that it is stable. That said, if you are not satisfied, kindly move on, and, dont bad mouth the ROM author. He is not obliged to provide you with "stable" (as per your definiton) ROMs.
Get the OTA FroYo update, and enjoy your Wildfire.
Cheers

Then what's all the patches for, mate ?
You picked the "works perfect" posts and quote it in first page.
How about I quote all the "not working" posts and "do you have a patch" posts ?
Your work should speak not the keyboard. Its totally unwarranted from your side to do anything like that. I have never seen any other developer design such a page.
PERIOD? Ya, period.

If I read the thread correctly, I think it is written as "ADDON PACKAGES and INSTALLERS". And, I guess, the name should be enough for you to know the meaning and the reason for the "patches", i.e., they are not bugfix packages or anything, but, additional functionalities which are upto the end user whether they want to install it or not.
It's not that if you dont get the patches, the ROM will crash on you a thousand times (If you do everything properly ,which, most of them have).
That apart, patch requests are again requests to improve the functionality and add convenience features, not bugfixes, which I came across the thread.

Now dont make me angry i am not forcing you to use it..
you have not seen any other developers design such a page ..hmm thanks i know i am a pioneering person .. Huh have you seen alpha centuari ? does that mean it does not exist .. And Learn some etiquette please..

ANYWAY BACK ON TOPIC:
I noticed that the app called "SuperOneClickv1.5.5-ShortFuse" (google it) has an option for unrooting...I haven't personally tried it (ended up using Unrevoked Linux LIVECD to root).
Let us know how it goes.
I noticed everyone is just focusing on flashing the wildfire with custom rom. Isn't there other ways like faking the signature so the update can still be installed?
I have the same problem, when I tried the OTA update it fails with message "invalid signature". I guess the rom installer is checking the signature of the currently installed OS.
Maybe one solutions is to restore the original HTC 2.1-update1 rom then run the OTA froyo update. Then in the near future, there will be root solutions for Wildfire froyo.

Ok, I may need to look harder here but I have not found anything that could assist me or if I have seen it, I am not too sure on what I need to do.
Here is what I have:
- Acer Iconia a500
- Android 3.0.1
- Kernel 2.6.36.3-00001-g9b3ce2b Stock
- Build Number Acer_A500_1.104.01_COM_GEN1
- Rooted with Gingerbreak
- Installed Acer Recovery (did forget to make an original backup, I know, bad me)
(Screenshot attached to prove it.)
I have tried looking in here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878) to see if I could get an update and update it here to 3.1 but am unsure on which one to use.
I did use this and it worked fine but was did not like the way 3.2 was running. So alas, I am back to 3.0.1 but would like some assistance on installing or ideas on which one to install.
If your trying to go to 3.1 you can try this rom,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159443
That worked! I used the .38 and it worked perfectly. Thank you for your help!

My wife just got the 32 gig a200 and I was wondering about different apps like Beats Audio, Swype etc..
Right now it is all stock but wondering what the steps would be to root and add a new ROM to it..
Thank you for your time..

hbwelch's tool will root, flash recovery and kernel, and much more.
Thanks for your response..
I will look into it. she actually updated it today. so I dont know if I need to wiat for a new root. or if the update was minimal .. and I should go ahead an do it..
The latest update was June 22/23-abouts, and the tool still works on that update, so you should be fine. The tool is practically noob-proof (not calling you a noob, though), and very simple to follow.
I installed Swype beta using the Swype installer. Works perfectly. No hacking required, just need to sign up with swype for thier beta testing.

My tablet had an OTA as well. Weird, I have stock rooted 4.0.3 running right now. Never thought I would see another OTA, but it fails to install for me so I just left it. It would be nice to see what is in it.

I'm going to take a look at it to see exactly what it is.. I'll post back in a few it just finished downloading
---------- Post added at 09:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:21 PM ----------
Okay so far it's def a patch to 4.0.3 but because everything is a patch as in bootloader.blob and build.prop.p and SystemUI.apk.p everything is basically a xxx.apk.p ending with a ".p" which is patch.. I'm going to try and open the build.prop which is what would tell you it is in a hex editor to see if it decrypts it

Cool, thanks for looking at this. I wonder why Acer is sending an OTA for this now.
Yeah it's just a newer version of Ice Cream Sandwich.. (Updated 4.0.3) basically all they did was updated most of the apps added some new ones in like Chrome etc.. Updated a bunch of libs and the GPS.. Looks like a newer patched recovery and bootloader as well... Nothing to special that you can't get on your own if you are posting here on XDA... Mine is running CM 10.2 so in my book I'm on the latest OTA set forth by "us" and not Acer lol....
Hope this helped you guys or anyone looking for some info!

It's interesting to see that. I heard the new 4.3 KK will help some older devices because the optimized core, but that's for those really old ones, not a dual core tab like A500. What's the reason for Acer to totally abandon A500? I do run in a lot problems even after I deleted all my apps. It just SOD for no obvious reason. And for this reason, I'm stir clear of Acer completely. I thought Acer was using the tablet market as a chance to expend their market in US but the real impact to me is it actually made me realize how bad a brand it is and I should avoid it at all cost.

Interesting. Everyone's experience is different; I for one love acer products. I have the a500 that works great. I use it everyday at work. I have two acer laptops as well. I prefer these over me Dell desktop and Samsung i7 laptop. If the acer liquid s2 ever came to the USA I would drop my Note 2 in a heart beat.
