[Q] SD 2GB mem card working with android but not 16GB - HD Mini General

Im trying to use the android running fron the SD card from another post, the android is under development still, but or some reason it only works on my 2gb mem card and not my 16gb card. is it maybe because of the format?
the 2gb came with the phone, but i formated my new 16gb on the phone but it still doesnt work.
thanks
this is all on the htc hd mini (photon) btw

You just Format your 16GB SD to FAT32, and copy the Cotulla's Android to your SD then open Explorer on your phone, and tap on HaRET.
That is it.
Of me, the Android works, but it's too slow mine, microSD 8GB

i'm using an 16 gb microsd on my mini and it runs android very well (fast) and in my opinion any 16 gb card should work since 16 gb are relatively new and faster than the smaller ones .Keep trying ,format the card on pc ,i personally formated with the phone's formating tool

damn.. one of the times i tried it did the start up video (very slowy) and then froze, now just keeps freezing on the load bar agen. i formated it using the phone formater as its the only way i can. but still bein gay.
ive got a string feeling its due to the type of memry card, as my difrent branded 2gb one works fine, but when the android is eventualy 100% done i wont be able to have it all on my 16gb

thanks

it's Kingmax 16gb microsdhc class 2 (first time took android about 20 minutes to boot and now about 3-4 minutes )

Mine is writen (microSD), 8GB
in my Android, for first time had takes about 2 hours and creates Data File, but second time it's will boot about 33 Minutes (too much, isn't?) and the android runs but it's slow. I formated the SD with many Format programs.. all of them same things, I also upgraded my WinMo but it was same.

[Q] [JAN 17] [HELP] [REQUEST] NAND Android w/ EXT4 support does not support 16GB SDHC

I have tried several builds but the result is disappointing. None of them can boot when I want to use EXT4 partition for data on it with my large SDHC card (16GB)
My 8GB Class 6 microSDHC runs fine but when I want to use Class 10 16GB card, the system crashes on boot...
I think 15GB FAT32 partition (I created 1GB EXT4 partition at the end of the card) is too large to be seen during Android boot or what?
Do you think it will work when I create only 7GB FAT32 and 9GB EXT4 it will work? Or should I switch the order of partitions (EXT4 first?) (it is not good solution but good for test)
Can someone from cooks help here? Thank you very much.
Firstly, this is the wrong section. There is a Q&A section explicitly for questions like this.
Secondly, I have a 16GB card with exactly this setup (15+1) and it works perfectly. Your card is possibly defective. Grab this little program and test it.
I use a 16GB CLASS 6 SD CARD for a long time.
maybe is something wrong with ur 16GB
and never create a partition bigger than 1.5g for your EXT4
I still guess the problem is your 16gb card..
I am also using a 16GB class 6 micro SDHC with no issues so far.
My partitioning is 14+2 (FAT32+EXT4) and runs like a charm.
I agree with the others, there must be something wrong with your card.
Thank you. I will test it using the program...
THe card otherwise works correctly...no bad clusters, missing files....perhaps the Class 10 is only a advertisement and the card is too slow? (because I heard that if the card is too slow then the system may boot too long and also become unresponsive (force close or wait for main android process etc.)
SO to give a public anti-advert I will reveal that my microSDHC card is KINGSTON CLASS 10
I have the same card kingston 16Go C10 and no pb !
My advice, make your partition (after full format fat32) with CWR (swap 0)
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

I've been trying everything to get a NAND install using a (brand new) Kingston 16gb class but have had no luck. The same process works on my sandisk 2gb card. I posted the question earlier today for any advice.
I got same problems with my 16 gb class 10 card (adaTA).
The card is 100% error free and on winmo work superfast. Unfortunately when i try to make ext partition on this than is going to work so sloow and with errors.
I have also PQI 8gb class 6, sandisk 8gb class 2 and samsung 16gb class 2 and I have to say that ext partitioned roms work fastest on slowest sandisk!!!
What is going on?
SanDisk 32GB MicroSDHC. no problems with it.
i used gparted livedisc to format 1gb ext4 partition. works great
32 GB ok but what class?

[Q]SD Card Recognition

I had HD2 with WP7 7720 4GB SD Card
Decide and bought 16 GB SD Card
Inserted it and when started phone it stucks after 1 2 3 4 5 GO GO GO
Reinstall WP7 Yuki 7720 with 16GB in
Now phone recognize 3,47 GB instead of 14.8GB
Any Fix ?
Is your sd card recognized by a computer? If so I would reformat the card.
when i bouught it i put it in a card reader
card have been already formatted but i perform format again
after i have install wp7 now windows can see it but neither opened it, neither formatted it
Try a hard reset again and see if WP7 picks up the rest of the space on the card. Of course, use the dev_storagelock cab to free up the card and see what you can do with it on your computer.
What kind of SD card are you using? WP7 is very picky.
My first card was a Kingston 4GB class 2 and it caused high battery drain.
My second card was a Kingston 16GB class 4 and it wouldn't even boot into WP7.
I'm now using a fantastic PNY 16GB class 4.
The brand/size/class of your SD card really matters.
try this
I had no proble with my Lexar 8GB Class4; then i tried my Mustang 16GB Class10 and WP7 stated that was incompatible.....
So I decided to make a try; inserted in my PC and run SDFormatter (from Panasonic) and made a full format (i.e. format full with erase ON) .
After that WP7 accepted my SD card, and apparently it is ok....hope it lasts...

Well.
Micro SD Card HC Kingston Class 4 16GB
I think the problem is in the card.
When I try to format it with PC Windows 7 I can't normally to format it to NTFS
Only FAT32. Now trying different programs to format it, but when phone starts it freezes on logo about 10-20 minutes after that starts with error for SD Card.
Last I tryed is formatting card with Nokia E52. Leo starts wp7 normal but in Settings -> About only 50 MB free storage. I will try one2one69 what said.

[Q] problems when upgrading defy memory card

Hi all,
Last week I tried to upgrade my wife's defy memory card from the 2 GB card that came with the phone to a new Sandisk micro SDHC 4 GB card.
I copied all the data from the phone to a folder on my personal computer, than copied it to the 4 GB card that was mounted on my phone and than replaced the cards.
The phone booted with no problems but short after the main screen was up, the phone got stuck and wouldn't react to anything until all i could do is to take out the battery and boot again.
For now i installed the 2 GB card again and the phone works fine...
Any idea what i did wrong during the process and how i can install the 4 GB card?
Her phone has stock ROM (2.2) and is not rooted.
Thanks...
Have you tried to run without a card? What data do you store on the old card??
Hi, Defy with 2.2 Froyo and Defy+ have problems wiht SDHC cards clas 6 and 10.
Card be come read only. Clik
OK...
So after breaking my head for about a week, here are my conclusions:
First of all, Nikoili, I tried to install a class 4 4GB sandisk SDHC card, so that wasn't the problem. Thanks anyway
Second, tomarsenal, i tried to run the device with no card, it worked with no problems so i understood that there is something in the content on the card that must be getting him all "crazy".
I deleted everything except the camera and music folders and began to play with the device, I saw that some of the predefined settings for some of the apps were gone (GO-Launcher setting for example) but it wasn't a big deal to set it again.
For now, the device is working fine (even quicker IMHO) and it looks that every app that saved some data on the card, had done it again on the new card so no crucial data was lost in the transfer.
Thanks all for your help...

Why my HD2 android won't start with my SD card?

My HTC HD2 works with my Transcend 4 GB microSD card, but it won't android won't boot up with my 8 GB Verbatim microSD card. Do I need to format it or something? Thanks!
Are you sure you have the correct set up ? (Files are copied to their destinations)
Try to format it to FAT32, and try again.
I`have just formated it to FAT32 and still the same problem. What files are you talking about?
PS: Sorry to bother you with "stupid" questions, I am pretty noob in this
I have read that Verbatim SDCards can cause problems in the build; booting or running, SanDisk is your best bet, but you may still be able to get it running,
Im not a dev; just brought SanDisk as a result of this,
Alex

It depends on many factors. Which Android Rom do you want flash, does this need Ext 3/4 Partition on the SD Card ? Do you have flashed the right partition size ? Read the installation instructions of Rom you wants to flash, there you mostly find all information.
Are you talking about NAND or SD? If NAND, make sure the ext partition is set up correctly, as this is where a lot of the apps are stored. If SD, then I would assume you know how to install an SD build so it could be a problem with the SD card being incompatible as alex.odell.2011 said.
I've had similar problems sometimes with my SD card; my HD2 wouldn't boot unless I took the card out then put it back in once it was booted. The only thing that I thought might cause it is something CWR related on the SD card, since I had used it in my Hero and Droid 1 as well to flash ROMs to them. It was a class 4 16 GB Sandisk, if that helps at all.

Slow writing speed on sandisk class10

Hello!
I just bought a Sandisk 16 class10 card and put it in my S4.
It didn't take the card before a boot though I am using PAC rom.
I tried SD tool app on the phone itself and gave me about 8.5mb/s
On PC I used h2testw and got a ridiculous 7.7mb/s
Now I don't what's the problem.
Should I format the card into a specific format or PAC rom is slowing the USB in a way?
I noticed USB transfer files is slower with PAC

Thats really weird... I have a Class 6 lexar 8gb micro SD card and get about 15-17MB/s and on rare occasions 10MB/s you might have a faulty SD card though because a Class 10 should get in the mid-high 20's easily

I formatted it in windows 8 as exfat, tried it again with the SD Tool app and got 22mb/s but when transferring files from PC to the phone it stays between 6 and 7mb/s.
It could be PAC rom messing with USB so I will flash TW 4.3 rom (Goldeneye) to see if it will change something.
It took me 2mins to transfer the 950mb of the rom while in the HTC One days it would have take 20sec...
Report on Echoe rom before flashing the new modem:
Using 400mb test file with H2testw Writing speed: 6.67mb/s and Reading speed : 19mb/s
Weird thing is that it starts first 4 secs with high 22mb/s then drop to 6!!
Dunno if new modem will change something
Could this card be a fake?
Looks like a Class 4 disguised in 10.
Tested speed of the card using the adapter on 2 different PCs and got 9.5mb/s.
Thanks God I have a warranty from the official Sandisk dealer,so I tell them I get between 6 to 10mb/s max while I should have the double.
I will try to format the card one last time before asking for a replacement just to double check
