Hi there guys,
I have a T-MOUS LEO 1024 with only the stock 16GB sdcard that came with my phone. I really would like to try those new MUIU builds flying around on the forums, but I get getting sdcard is damaged you might need to reformat.
Here is my problem. i can seem to be only to format sdcard while its in the phone. I have tried reformatting with on android Os and win6.5 os...i still get same issue with those MUIU builds. my pc does not have a built in card read so I cannot you the Panasonic sd reformater g parted.
Is my only option is to have a sdcard reader for my pc?
any ideas would help.
thanks guys
Lawrance the Noobie =)
I was able to fix a similar issue by running the format sd card option in the android os, then booting to recovery and using the partition tool in cwm to delete the partitions and start fresh. I don't know that this method is failsafe, but it certainly saved my class 6 card from the trash.
Oh, and I am sure you know, but the increase in performance you get from using a higher class card makes it a good investment when you are able.

Thx bro I'll give it a try =)

I have 16 GB SD card (scan disk) and after I formatted (with card reader on windows XP) the card to FAT32, I run android successfully.
After reboot I started WM (Energy ROM) and when I try to run android again it stuck on boot screen (white screen with HTC in green).
I need to reformat the card again, copy the android folder again and then to run android again.
Is there a possibility to switch between Android & WM without formatting the card every time?
baby jesus doesn't love you anymore
At first, you posted in the wrong topic. This thread should be in Android General Section.
Second, try to format your card two or three times with this tool:
World Formatter
And read this:
Manual
Cheers
i'm joking i have no idea why that's happenning
I'm not sure why your having that problem, maybe cards can get worn after formatting so many times? Not sure, but I haven't formatted my card in over a month and have had WAY less problems than when I use to format it a few times a week.
I have 8gb card, but i never need format, just im copy Android folder to sd, and run Android.
i suggestion, you try another sd card, may be your card have a little problem.
but whatever is your problem is I love the "Baby Jesus" part .. LoL
now to topic -- as said earlier .. try with some other card u have... ur card may be faulty

And as said, I was also a "format-junkie" but I think it's better to just leave the card as it is. Mine works fine now, I haven't formatted since a month.
i had massive problems on my 16gb card but it all cleared up when i formatted using the format tool under windows mobile on the cell phone. i dont think it matters but im using miri's rom. if you want to know the exact verison of what rom im using let me know.
Hi!
I forgot to format my SD card when I installed android, so I was thinking doing it now (just in case, it might get a little better). Do I connect the phone and do the formating through ''My PC'' ? (I don't have a SD Reader or adapter) Or i will have a problem with that?
I've installed Frankstine, and its very good, but I want to test a few so I choose wich one I keep is there any other cool rom? (I'm looking for some rom with Sense )
Thanks!
you can simply format it from android or CWM. if you format it from windows however make sure you keep FAT32 file system, android doesn't recognize ntfs
Some ROMS write files to the sd card for use with the ROM,so formatting it may cause the ROM to stop working properly.
You should really format your sd card BEFORE you install a new ROM.
After you format it you want to make sure you have the correct partition for the ROM you want to install.
ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR SD CARD BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING TO IT.
P.S. check my sig for a good sense ROM
Yeah keep backup of everything that you want in a folder on your PC. Do you know what program you need to create an Ext partition with? If you do well then its easy.
But I suggest you buy a card reader - they're not too pricey and they will always come in handy. The easiest way to do it is through MAGLDR (supposedly buggy but I've never had any problems personally) or CWM. I've found that using CWM I would regularly get 'Bad Disk' on Minitool after using it though. Don't do it when you're booted up in a ROM as it might mess up the ROM, and some ROM's that use Data2SD make sure you don't mount your SD card while using it as it will most likely cause your phone to reboot and it won't mount, so its useless basically.
Btw, good to see you getting Android working or your HD2 haha.

please you a android phone to format your micro sd card, that will solve the problem
I had the same issue, tried formatting the sdcard with my PC (fat32) but that did not work. The device itself running plain Android 3.0.1 never had an issue to access this fat32 formatted card but nogo with CWM.
I then bought a fresh new, preformatted sdcard and with this one it worked like a charm.
Maybe formatting with Android would have solved my issue too...

How to use your PC to format!
Hey guys,
I'd strongly recommend using this program to format SD/SDHC Cards of any type:
SD Formatter 3.0 for SD/SDHC/SDXC
It works wonders and negates the need to format with an Android device.
Hope it works for you as it did for me!
Cheers,
Alex
Brilliant .. thanks! I struggled with this problem for hours and used multiple SDHC cards--none worked, until I formatted with that tool!
I just can't mount my sdcard at all it works fine in my fascinate but when I pop it in the micro sd slot it doesn't work

thanks so much! was having a bear of a time, couldn't figure out why it still worked in honeycomb but not in CWM. got it now! even tried formatting with android phone and computer before. now onto trying my custom cooked taboonay! lol that's so much fun to say...
I eventually gave up and put my new rom on a thumb drive. Clockwork mounted my thumb drive as /sdcard and all was gravy.

I had the same problem and had to buy a different brand sd card and it worked fine. I was using a Walgreen genaic card and cwr wouldn't see it then got a sandisk and it was all good.
Hello, I need some help with partitioning my Micro SD card. It is an 8GB class 6, and I know the basics, but that is it. What I really need to know is HOW to partition my SD card and what the hell 'EXT2/3/4' is all about. Now, I have had different suggestions as to what to do, I have to disc all ready with Gparted installed, and I am ready to use it, yet I have been told by some members of XDA the partitioning isn't even a requirement for ROMs. Is this true? I have a Euro HD2, and recently when trying to partition my SD card through Clockwork Mod (CLK) my SD card's memory dropped from 8GB to around 6.5GB. I have tried formatting it as I always do, but nothing seems to come of it. Anyway, what I would like to know is how and why I need to partition, especially EXT2/3/4 as this particular partition has come up on most ROMs I wish to install.
I hope someone can shine some light on this issue.
Thanks in advance -- Joe
(PS - I will click thanks for anyone who gives useful information)

First thing
Closckwork Mod is NOT CLK, they are different
if your memorcy card dropped from 8GB to 6.5~ , then your partioning was succesfull , what you cant see is the EXT partion that only android can see,
Go ahead and flash a EXT supported ROM , have fun

Sorry, I didn't realise they were different (CLK - Clockwork Mod) But if you say that the partitioning worked, then does that mean I have done all of the partitions, or just one?
You just need one partition not many ... so I guess you can find out by trying an ext supported ROM... try coredroid 1.6

Hello! I recently went the route of installing tytung's NexusHD2 Gingerbread ROM and have run into a sort of bothersome issue. Basically everything works fine (Flashed HSPL, new Radio, MAGLDR 1.13, Clockwork, NAND NexusHD2 ROM), but my 16GB microSD card is not recognized by Gingerbread. I got this microSD card with the device and am currently using a 1GB card instead due to the fact that I get no response from Android upon insertion. I formatted the card to FAT on multiple computers and multiple OS's, all of which seem to have no problem viewing content from the card. To be more specific it is a Sandisk MicroSDHC, and I'm 100% sure it came with my T-Mobile HD2. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
I have a similar problem. I flashed my HD2 to the Nexus Rom as well, but when i received the phone it only came with a 4gb memory card. I recently bought a 16 gb to fit more apps and music but since ur having a problem with it i am hesitant to insert it. What are your thoughts?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
There shouldn't be a problem inserting it, I've tried many times and it hasn't effected the card at all. Give it a go and maybe you will have better luck than me. Could be my card I suppose.
Hey guys heres an easy solution.
Put ur phone into clockworkmod, and go to advanced, and parition sd card.
Fixed

I didn't think of that! Works great now, thanks a ton
what kind of size did you use on the partition ?

I believe I selected 128? What does that effect anyway? I have seen that some ROMs require specific partition layouts correct?
Ok i have clockworkmod but i forgot how to use it or how to get to it. Lol but what does the partition do to the sd card anyways?
