Hello all, can't post under development forums on Xperia X8 forums so I am posting here, I have this one small problem, everytme I try to root my Xperia X8 it says the rooted is successful but it doesn't reboot itself. Where is the problem....
Have you checked if any root needing software works?
i have rooted my x8 with super one click, it said root succesful and my phone didn't reboot, but it is rooted so i think it shouldn't reboot when it's done
it doesn't need to reboot.
try install titanium backup or root explorer, run, if it ask for root permission then you have it.
What's your build number? 2.0.1 or 2.1.1?
For 2.1.1 use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920236
download latest version of superoneclick n x8 usb driver
Can you see the super user in the menu?

So I downloaded the 1.5.5 SuperOneClickRoot thing. I downloaded my drivers. ADB says it can read my device (ie: adb devices shows my device ID)
I proceed to click on ROOT, and it roots it.
I proceed to click on SHELL ROOT, and it said I have a temp root on my phone and I need to reboot it.
I reboot it,
I click on SHELL ROOT.
It STILL says I have a temp root.
I turn off my phone. Pull the battery out. Reinsert. Repeat
STILL says I got temp root.'
I got update 2.1.
What the buck?
IMO, the best way to root is to install the x10 flashtool. You can find it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Basically, connect your phone via usb, make sure you have usb debugging checked on your phone, and hit root on x10 flashtool. You can use it to JIT enable your phone, install Xrecovery, clean and customize your phone. It's your best bet, if you have a computer that is.

If I am remember from rooting my phone a while ago, you don't need to press shell root. Only press the root button. You can also root with flashtool too. here is the link for the guide to help with flashtool and flastool link.
Flashtool computer application: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Flashtool help guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
I know the person above me sent something too of the same thing sorry
Thanks. Is there a guide on how to use that? Like which version is it for? btw, Im noob at rooting X10's. It's my friends, and I come from the Desire Z forums... (T-Mobile G2).
EDIT: lol that was fast. thx!

Completely agree. I used that and it took me 5mins to do it in total (cz i had to read a guide, since I never rooted any phones before). Its very simple and easy.
I used this guide for my xperia x10a with 2.1 and .55baseband from Rogers. Worked great without any problems. Then I just flashed a custom rom and was happy!
If you got any questions id be glad to help as best I can.

Hey guys just wondering how do I check and see if the Perm root worked? I followed the thread on how to and where it says to check perm root I am not sure how? Any help would be great, I am unable to post on the dev forum still! Like I said I am using z4mod to root and was able to get through step 6 I do not want to flash the recovery until I am sure the perm rooting worked!
Thanks guys
So I was playing around and was able to flash a clockwork rec mod update and boot into recovery, I am guessing that it has worked!
Well, it must have worked, I was able to flash a rom no problem! I went with cm7!
you have superuser access app.....there is a root checker in the market also.....
Awesome, I noticed sometime last night I had the su app and did not know there was a root checker! Thanks, will be help full when rooting other phones!
no problem!
how i knew was because after i have rooted other ppls phones, I always tell them not to mess with the su app....
i dont no much but exp with winmo has helped me hugely!
rootchecker, i thinks it called found outta boredom....lol
Sorry for posting another thread which will add up to the threads here but you see i'm having my doubts if i will root my x8 or not.. i have read the other threads and they say that rooting fails and also backing up using the xrecovery.. what i want to know is that what happens when rooting fails? will it brick my phone instantly? and another thing is that if xrecovery fails PCC is an option but what i have read is that PCC no longer has the repair function if the phone is rooted and flashed with a custom rom..
i really want the custom tom for the gingerbread and i always read and read for the updates.. but im having this dilemma whether to root or not to root because i'm really afraid that i might lose my phone's functionality and cant use it again.. im afraid of the risks.. please help me.. i really want the 2.3..
You can reinstall firmware with SEUS (SonyEricsson Update Service) or with FlashTool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12442257#post12442257
about rooting if it fails will i be able to root again immediately or do i have to do something else?
What makes you think rooting through flashtool will fail?
i mean there are issues when rooting fails in some threads right? when it sometimes stuck on a particular part.. you made the guide for ton how to rescue a bricked phone but i have another question.. if my phone bricks will SEUS still save it? i have something that SEUS and PCC became smarter because the repair function is not clickable when a custom rom is flashed..
please help i have this ultimate dilemma... to root or not to root.. i want my x8 to have the 2.3 but i'm scared if I brick it and will not be able to return it to what it was.. this is my only phone so i really am careful with it...
You can't "brick" your phone permanently because bootloader is locked. I "bricked" my phone many times and SEUS or FlashTool still repair it.

JUST DO IT! its nearly no chance to brick ur lovely x8 I root my phone so much times and I don't brick it just do it with flashtool but if you brick (somehow) try to repair it with pcc, seus, or flashtool... or you need to download stock Rom and you are done try some of these ways I have my x8 almost 1year and I never brick it that I need to repair it from seus, pcc, or flashtool just do it nothing can happen
Wyslalem z mojej zajebistej x8 za uzyciem tapatalk! BIJAAACZ !
Proadi96, wyjedź z tą sygną na forum zielonych, to zobaczysz co Ci z nią zrobią
@ontop - rooting bears practically no chance of bricking. You may brick your phone by installation of broken zips through xRecovery or by messing around with chargamon, but if you stick to normal usage you can't harm your system Besides, if all fails you always have flashtool.
And rooting is only a first step towards installing a custom ROM - installation of xR and busybox ahead of you Come on, don't be scared, just backup all you have (data before rooting, apps after - you gonna need root access for titanium backup ) and go for it
so here's what i have to do.. install the superoneclick (is this the flashtool you're talking about?, sorry i'm just practically a total noob.. ) then root with it. after that install busybox from the android market, then xrecovery from the tutorial. but root explorer is a paid app so how can i install xrecovery? any other alternatives for root explorer?
im getting convinced now to root my precious X8 thanks you guys..
Download FlashTool from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Root:
1. Enable usb debugging and unknown sources in application settings
2. Start FlashTool connect your phone and click on root
xRecovery:
1. In FlashTool click on AskRootPerms, you must click on Allow in your phone when pop-up appears
2. Click on xRecovery
Superoneclick should get the work done, as for flashtool it's in my brick guide. It has many additional options, as you will see And if superoneclick rooting will fail, flashtool's one will probably get the job done And it will install busybox along with the superuser, as far as I remember... Superuser is the app that manages root permissions
E: Last time I installed xrecovery with flashtool it bricked my device, I would still go for manual installation...
And as for the root managers - super manager, ES file manager, choose to your liking.
does superoneclick fail always? i read the thread of the flashtool and it seems that it's complicated about the installation and rooting process
I don't know what you read, but it is as easy as with SuperOneClick. I posted instructions on previous page
what i read is the thread that you have given.. the long instruction there.. is it the same as what you have given? sorry for being a noob and thanks for your attention
Rooting with superoneclick and flashtool is exactly the same - usb debugging, cable, click to root. However, I was unable to root with superoneclick once, while flashtool never failed
E: And one more thing - if you have some antivirus soft it may tell you that SOC and flashtool are viruses - yes, they are, you need an exploit to get root permissions. If you have such an issue - kill antivirus
can you please give me instructions on how to root with the flashtool in the easiest way because what i have read from the given link is that the method is complicated.. XD
-.- Dude... The instruction is the same as the one posted by dbts25 for SOC... USB debugging in application options in your X8, usb cable and you click "root" button in flashtool. Can't be THAT hard, can it?
sorry for being noob.. i'll just follow that and disregard the long method in the download link for flashtool that he has provided.. after following that short method everything should be fine right? including xrecovery?
Eh... ok. Rooting does not equall xR, I hope you know it? So, after you root your device, you install the busybox app from the market. But that doesn't mean you already have busybox. You need to open it and choose to install the set of commands. Whichever you prefer, it will be overridden by xR files anyway. Then you get the xR package and place all three files where they belong. All done. You may reboot and get into xR. You may install any custom zip you want there.
I'm sorry for bugging you guys always but can you please give me a working link for the flashtool? after rooting then all i have to do is visit the market, download busybox there then download xR from the tutorial. after that i just have to copy the files to the xR folder using a file manager right? Im planning to use Adao file manager..
Hi
I have upgraded my u8800 from 2.2.1 to the official 2.3.5. Now im trying to root the phone so i can flash a custom ROM. It was rooted before i upgraded it but it seemed to reset after the upgrade. Im trying to use SuperOneClick 2.3.3.0 but after i press root and it says "[+] Killing ADB and restarting as root... enjoy!" and i tryed to reboot the phone still isnt rooted. I installed an app from the marked called root check basic to check if it was rooted but it said it wasnt.
Any help in rooting the phone would be apprecieated(i have no idea if i spelled that right)!
EDIT: Got it working after i installed superuser from the marked before i ran superoneclick.
I cant root either!
SuperOneClick Crashes every time I press Root -.- please any kind of help?
(Ive installed superuser from my phone!)
Hi all, I've been browsing since yesterday about rooting Lenovo Vibe Z2 Pro, however there was little that could be found. And in this point I'm not even sure whether it is possible.
Does someone have experience with rooting this particular phone. I will appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance

ROOT on Lollipop is actually possible, russian guide HERE.
Every game I tried worked flawlessly. I don't think I have ever had any problems with that. Also resolution change (to 1080p) helped with FPS. I think 1440p is for Adreno 330 too much.
Hi, how is it possible to change the resolution? Thanks.
i used the lenovo companion app and it shows that i'm rooted. but when i installed the supersu, either via playstore of twrp, it keep asking me to update binary. Any idea what i can do? thanks.

After pressing update? Still keeps asking? I just flashed latest SuperSU (2.46 i think) in twrp and everything works fine.
yes it tries to update then say not successful. needs to reboot. but then the same after rebooting. not sure if it's because i don't have root. i did manage to install twrp and can reboot into twrp.
Then flash latest SuperSU zip in twrp. I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work
hi bro, i tried that, and it really didn't work. I'm also puzzled. downloaded v2.46 from the supersu website and flashed via twrp. the message is successful. but when i open up, it still prompts me to update binary. sigh.
Rooting Vibe Z2 Pro
Hi,

look dude... i'll be super honest with you. In no android planet will you be able to root your device if you keep a locked bootloader. Get it unlocked first. Does your device have ''fastboot''? because everything will have to start with that.

There are dozens of devices rootable with those one-click generic apps like KingoRoot or Towelroot etc... which doesn't need unlocked bootloader, or even adb/fastboot. Ofc you won't be able to flash custom recovery (via fastboot) and things like that, but essentialy you'll end up with SuperSU installed along with su binary (that's the point of rooting the device, right?).
Before Lollipop firmware update our device was possible to root via those one-click apps.

Honestly to say you are right. I dont know why i was being rogue with you. I think what i should hav said was '' in no android planet would you want to root your device with a locked bootloader''. Reasons being no Nandroid backup restore method.. neither via recovery nor via fastboot image flashing method. Of course taking nandroid backup will be possible e.g using Online Nandroid app, onandroid executable scripts e.t.c. Besides unlocking bootloader only clears your user data. We all know rooting is not a disaster but a window to disaster #BRICK. Think about it.

Kindly provide details of your android version. I mean you could have used some OTA update. Additional information like processor type could be helpful. You could b using an international variant.

Anyway download pdanet for pc... Install it. Have usb debugging on. Check that on developer options on your device. Connect your device to pc then run pdanet to install the necessary driver. (You could also download and use "adb drivers installer.exe for pc as an alternative".
Check your phone screen to confirm the debug promp.
Download iRoot English version for pc.
Install it and run.
Connect your phone with the usb debug still on.
Once your device is detected and name displayed. A button "Root" will appear. Click on it and your phone will reboot if rooting successful.
