All credits to Arise - from this forums , use this method to root SGS on 2.3 :
- flash with Odin Lastufo's Ultimate kernel - 4_8_1 worked for me
- after flash enter directly to CWM (trying to boot wont work) and install from there root (superuser + busybox)
- after that reboot in download mode and flash with Odin Gingerbread kernel
Afther flashing the Gingerbread kernel reboot and you will have your phone rooted
I cannot post here the Gingerbread kernel , since i dont have rights maybe someone can post it
Once again the credits goes to Arise for sharing this method !!!
LE: it seems that i can add attchments after all - in the attachement is the Gingerbread kernel

Hi sorry friend but my method is only to revert back to previous roms not for rotting 2.3. Sorry for the confusion!
Rooting is already now possible using CF-Root. You must flash package via 3e recovery. Link to post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9920908&postcount=3
Good luck. I am going to wait for custom rom dev's to work on this before using it again. Am very happy with essential rom tweaked how I like it.

this is the only workaround possible but one drwaback would be if you want cwm recovery again, you have to flash the cf root tar file via odin again
Please remove
Is this not the same workaround Chainfire has been discussing weeks ago?

Ok, so now I've tested a lot of things, a lot of tries, I'm not sure if it sticks in my head correctly.
I can only get the SD problem when transationing from official kernel + 0 counter to unofficial counter.
Afterwards, it seems flashing back the official kernel (triangle disappears) with ODIN, then flashing back CF-Root with CWM app or Mobile ODIN (preferred) solves the issue for me, every time.
I've also seen it appear/disappear with change of signatures, and then I couldn't reproduce the problem anymore, but the above procedure seems to work.

Yes, it is, but people are still asking this question without bothering to search(or don't know the terms so are unable to find) and the answer is buried under a few pages of posts.
Maybe this thread is necessary for those people but this has been discussed before so your call.

I did not understand (maybe because my english is terrible eheh).
Now, with this method, I have my phone rooted but stock recovery. Is there a way to get cwn recovery and no sd problem?
whats with people rating this thread down. sigh...
Mate thank you so muchGave you 5 stars.Flashed the zImage and got all my apps finally over to the SD as the LP6 wouldnt flash on my version of ROM for some reason. If I need to Ill flash the CF-Root back for a CWM backup.Well done.
I dont quite follow this either. I have flashed the zImage of original XXLPH kernel, but now what??
Do I need to flash the kernal again via Odin to get CWM back fully operational??
I have a diff. Firmware, CheckRom6 & Redpill Kernel 1.3. And despite of Download Counter 0 I have the problem with Titanium some apps' not flashing back, too. (had the problem already with CheckRom4 / Syiah, too).

Just flash the CF-Root kernel's zImage file via the CWM app and you will get root & CWM working again.

Even though got to solution by try & error; Yes, it is there in the deep of long thread.
Just want to put it up in simple well detailed steps since many people facing such problems and asking for.....
I followed the advice in Chainfire's very long thread after finding it here, and it worked for me.
I used this procedure:
1. rooted via CF-Root using Odin.
2. flashed the old bootloader using Odin.
3. reset flash counter via Jig.
4. flashed the ICS bootloader using Odin.
5. flashed the stock kernel using CWM app.
6. flashed the CF-kernel using CWM app.
SD works fine and root is retained.
ahh thank you!
thanks, this works fine for me.
you mean after flashing the zimage kernel you need to flash the http://download.chainfire.eu/147/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPH-v5.2-CWM5.zip
to get CWM working again?

[GUIDE][18th Dec][4Noobs] Root BootLoader Unlocked Xperia Play

How To Root All 2011 Xperia Devices (Unlocked Boot-loader)
Just thought I would tell you how to root your Xperia Play no matter what version of android your are on.
For this guide i will be using official firmware xx.xx.xx.62 which will be flashed via wotan.
You have many ways you can do this so i will give two.
Method 1 : Using a auto-root Kernel (doomlord, KeiranFTW)
After flashing your ROM.
Depending on your ROM, download a appopiate kernel with recovery and auto root. for this i will be using Doomlord's Advanced stock kernel.
Once downloaded extract to your fastboot folder (check my other guides for a small fastboot package)
Run fastboot.exe via cmd or use the run_me.bat file
Connect your phone to your computer while switched off and while the search (may be different for other devices) key is being pressed5. When Blue LED switches on type
Code:
fastboot flash boot FILENAME.img
where the file-name is the name of the downloaded file. e.g.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. type in the below command
Code:
fastboot reboot
7. your phone should reboot and you should now have superuser and SU.
Method 2 : Using a Root Zip File
After flashing your ROM.
1. Firstly download this file Bootable ClockworkMod Recovery
2. Next download this file and copy it to your sdcard of your phone.
3. Using the fastboot package downloaded from a previous tutorial run the run_me.bat file
4. Put phone in fastboot mode.
3. Type in the following command
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
5. Then "install zip from sd card" on the phone
6. After installation is completed press "reboot phone"
7. Your phone should reboot and have Superuser and SU.
Enjoy your rooted phone,

Putting a custom ROM is after rooting it right? So why would i want to flash my ROM?
I am getting Error: cannot load recovery.img. i guess this has something to do with not having flashed my rom?

[guide] root nexus 4 (4.3) +install custom recovery

hello guys this guide helps you to root your nexus 4 (4.3) and install custom recovery
things needed
1)superuser http://d-h.st/Hhw
2)twrp http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/mako/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-mako.img
3)andriod sdk (google it)
* [dont have sdk? then download this http://d-h.st/jCU a replacement for sdk/platformtools (this tools include stuff for windows, linux and mac too.)]
4)adb drivers installed (follow the below mentioned guide)
note:- this is almost same process as this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179 but just updated for 4.3 version
ROOTING process
1)I hope your boot loader is unlocked, if not first unlock it and then start the rooting process and turn on usb debugging (follow above mentioned guide for unlocking bootloader and to turn on usb debugging) after unlocking bootloader reboot device and then copy root.zip(links above) into your phones storage and then reboot to fastboot
2)now download the twrp recovery image and rename it to twrp and move it to sdk/platform tools. in the same directory(i.e platformtools directory) open cmd prompt(to open cmd prompt press shift+rightclick at the same time and select open cmd prmpt window option) and type (without quotes) "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" and thats it you have flashed twrp
3)now go to twrp (recovery mode) and flash the root.zip (that u copied to the phones storage earlier) and that's it u have obtained the root access.

Hi,
I can suggest you some thing but i am not responsible if u bricked your device do it at your own risk
I had same issue " waiting for device" SO you need to install correct drivers for your device i can suggest you to download nexus 4 toolkit version 2 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995688 and you need disconnect your nexus from usb and open your toolkit and you need :
1.choose option 13 "13. Android 4.2.2 [Build JDQ39]" (I know that your version is 4.3 but the drivers for PC is samething)
2.It will download drivers for your pc
3.Now choose option 1 that say " 1. Install Device Drivers on your PC [DO THIS FIRST] [UnPlug Device First] "
4. After driver installation you can close this tool and try again to flash your recovery like you did it before with (See above "ROOTING process")
Let me know if you succeed
Good luck
When I try to load the YT vid it says "invalid request"...
Oh its more than a vid. I am sorry in the android app it doesnt show the whole post for any reason.
And why download the whole sdk? Grab the platform tools from efrant's tutorial on how to flash a factory image. Then just place the desired recovery in the same directory and you can flash the recovery.

we can use another recovery's too... because we just stay looking what already have developed on XDA... BUT we have Developers on other forums... like 4PDA(RUSSIA), Gionee Forum, BBS(Chinese) and a lot of others... we need can try make a Index Inside XDA to push Other Development projects from other forums to be more easy to get a better community to can have more projects running... for example: CWM already have been developed on Chinese and Russian Forums and TWRP already have been developed to Kazam Tornado 348.. and that is to SAME PHONE... Just using another name/Brand =#
we need push XDA ADM/GM's to make a generic page to our phone... because he have too much Brand/Names but is exactly same phone and hardware =#
...
but anyway is awesome get someone already developing any project on xda.. don't give up this phone, he is powerful and we maybe can get CUSTOM KERNEL from Spanish TeamForce Developer team.. we just need flood them to demonstrate interest about that phone.. :highfive:

... guess no on wants a recovery. I dont own the device but, it should only break recovery if it fails. You can simply backup your stock recovery in flashify, and also, with a few commands typed in terminal.. You can create an image dump so you can flash incase you get into bootloops(unsure if it works). I have flashed many broken recoveries before and never had an hardbrick. Im not sure if BLU has download mode on their device but, as long you can reboot into that, you should be fine. Im unsure if there are any stock roms out right now.

Not a fair statement from someone that doesn't own the device It is very difficult to get adb running for this phone consistently. Additionally, backing up stock recovery fails using flashify. Lastly, I did attempt to flash this this morning with the recommended app from the OP and flashify and this is the recovery it booted to afterwards, which looks like the stock recovery (correct me if I am wrong).

that is the stock recovery... you can try use the KAZAM Tornado 348 TWRP, because they are the same phone and Share the same SDK to build Kernel and Another Boot images, if that don't work just flash your backup over it using ADB/fastboot
:highfive:
From 4dpa they have CWM and Carliv CWM working... but the best recovery to them is the official TWRP from Kazam Tornado 348

The point I am making is it appears that theses apps are not writing to our recovery partition. I will try to grab a log later if I can get adb running with this phone. I flashed the recovery in the OP several times and trying several apps.
Can you link to the recovery you are speaking of? I tried this because I was willing to chance it for the community.

this "apps" work to our recovery partition because they are the SAME PHONE... Same SoC... Same Manufacture project(From Gionee) I'm Running TWRP from KAZAM here... you can give a try without problems :highfive:
if your phone don't stay be recognized on computer try follow the steps on my Root Topic to get ADB driver Working Correctly... but if after install the ADB driver it don't get work you need reset the ADB.exe cache on computer...
just open CMD and run this code: taskkill /F /T /IM adb.exe
then try run the code: "ADB Devices" inside the folder where stay installed the ADB (if you follow my steps on C:\adb\ you will get it)
and Turn OFF the 3rd Firewall security Programs on windows to get fully access to ADB Daemon Service :highfive:

I just saw your tutorial. I should be good still on one of my computers so that's a minor issue. I want you to link me to the Kazam recovery that may be compatible with our ViVo air so that I can test it. Thanks.

I hope the OP doesn't mind our chatter. I was able to flash the Twrp but it isn't without its issues. It is giving problems mounting cache and data when trying to wipe. I made a couple of backups and flashed a version of MIUI that I found in the Blu google + community. I was going to restore to stock but couldn't get Twrp to completely power off the device. Eventually data wiped and MIUI booted. Will check to see if I can restore a backup tomorrow.

on 4PDA they have the BLU Firmware to install via CWM... if you want try it using TWRP... Here the LINK ... they say to Wipe everything to flash it...
(You don't format Cache and Data to F2FS... because the KitKat don't Support it to Run)
--
To me the 2.8.5.0 TWRP from KAZAM stay Working Correctly, i already format SDcard, Cache and Dalvik cache.. and make it don't bring problems to me... on 4PDA they talk about NVRAM problem... i don't know how to solve it but is easy to talk to they using translators ... there they have the Updated MiUi too... but if you have Backup your phone.. Use that ;D

Awesome. And stay away from 2.8.6.0 for now. 2.8.5.0 worked much better.

Z5 Premium Dual e6883 Rooting

So I've had a bit of a look around and there doesn't seem to be that many "noob" friendly rooting how to's, i have a z5 premium dual e6883 and i have unlocked the bootloader but have yet to root it.
I've tried and failed so is there anyone out there who can help me out.
i have never done this before and would like an experienced person to recommend a kernel or whatever it is that i need to root my device.
Kind Regards

Check both development forums for how to do this. There are threads there on this.
Sent from my SGP311 using XDA Labs
This thread should help

It's installing the custom kernel through adb then installing a recovery (twrp) through adb. After going into recovery (as the phone boots, wait for the notification light to turn orange, it takes about 5-7 seconds, then press and hold the volume up button), flash the SuperSU zip you downloaded from the forum. Now you're rooted.

Thanks, i tried following this thread and it was successful untill I tried to flash, I'm not really 100% sure what adb is either, i posted a comment on that thread with the error that happened through the command window.

You would have to install adb, it is used through the command prompt. Installing the Sony flashtool would be really useful, it would install adb for you and you can install firmware updates (since once you root and install a custom ROM, you cannot update through OTA). Once you install all of the Sony drivers needed, your phone would be recognized when in fastboot mode and you can follow the command lines in that thread to install a custom kernel and recovery (twrp) to flash a ROM.

seems like u downloaded wrong boot.img (kernal)
what is your device???
this kernal is ONLY for .254 update (released 6july2016)
if you have flashed wrong kernal! then DOWLOAD FULL ftf file (2.5GB using FLASHTOOL (experifirm))
and FLASH original .254
than dowload stock modified kernal and flash kernal as i told above...
