It basically says 'cannot extract, not enough space in /system' I know I have enough space, but I have concluded that it is denying MM write privileges even though I granted it SU, busybox is also installed in /system/xbin

After rooting and all? What's all? Are you new to rooting? Sounds like you might have jumped in too quick.

which rooting guide did you use? did you change your kernel? you need to replace the bcm4329.ko file in /system/lib/modules with the one that corresponds to the kernel you are running...
Yes I am new to it but I am really good when it comes to computers
I am trying to learn everything about the android coding and all. Cause I just bought the mt4g Last week. But I followed instructions on a you tube video. By mackster248. Its they ove xda provided

ok... settings>about phone>Software Information> Kernel version... I need it...
Just a sort of "duh" reminder to always read things carefully before you do anything.
For example I quickly read the title of this thread as "Wife isn't working" and I thought "Tell me about it"
The kernel version is 2.6.32

ok.... DOWNLOAD THIS then put it in the directory with adb. In command prompt navigate to the directory with adb then put these commands in
adb shell
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 /system
exit
abd push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules/
adb reboot
your wifi should be fine after this.
Ok, do I need the terminal emulator? To type these commands

no you need adb... google android sdk download install
if you can't figure that out copy the file to your sdcard then in terminal do this
unplug phone
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk0p25 /system
cp /sdcard/bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules/
this should fix it... might take a reboot
Which version do I need? 2.2 or 2.3
great now my SU permissions are denied....

you probably didn't root properly and only had temp root then
That makes sense. How do I get rid of clock work mod. I'm just gonna go back to stock. This rooting is
A pain in the ass.

It's really not that bad. You just need to slow down, take a breath and follow the instructions and everything will right itself.
Some people always think that there is a one-click solution; when in fact you just need to follow a few precise directions. Key word being 'precise'.
If you want to unroot and go back to stock, check my sig for unrooting.

Hello all.
Noob here. Just got my mt4g permarooted but i'm curious what settings I need to run. I had visionary running on boot before rooting. I assumed I needed to turn that off after permaroot but I could not gain root access without it. Anyone mimd helping with the right setup?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Could you provide the steps you took to get rooted or maybe a link to a guide you followed?
If you are permarooted you should have no problems turning off that setting in Visionary.

Everytime I do that, phone freezes after I click attempt permaroot. The screen goes black like it does for temproot but freezes after and nothing else happens.

Anyone?
I think the problem is visionary refusing to permaroot. I'm using r14. Visionary crashes and freezes my phone when I attempt to petmaroot and I have to pull the battery to restart. Any options to visionary? Maybe an older release?
Any help would be appreciated.

there are two tools to s-off once you root, one for radio s-off and one for eng s-off, run the radio one, then the eng one, you will find them in the android development section. you need to s-off before you can flash clockwork mod on the DHD, you can flash that from rom manager
Cool so i need to do that bit more to it on dhd unrevoked rooted and put clockwrk on lol thanks do the roms available make it worth rooting

Have you checked your EMMC chip? If you have the bad one I would suggest not rooting

You can remove the apps while temp rooted, but think they will return whenever you reboot the phone...
Is it an alternative to this den

This thread has a few ways to check it and tells you which one is bad (samsung)...check post 392 for probably the easiest way. As far as rooting your phone, did you follow one of the stickied guides in the development section?
Thanks but I still don kno how to check my emmc or let alone know if its bad or not
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
You can use titanium backup or other apps to "freeze" apps. This is permanent (but reversible) even under temp root. They still take up space on your phone but are otherwise invisible.

I have the titb but it say it don have root privileges when I try to open it even wit a temp root

Follow Gfree method and I assure you you'll get perm root.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4B4y0CQUDo
Also, you can't get higher than 1ghz because the stock kernel caps at 1ghz. You'll need to perm root and flash either a new kernel or a new ROM to allow OC'ing past 1ghz.

That would be why. First of all, the stock kernel can't be overclocked, it's coding won't allow that (or if it can be overclocked, it can't be very stable). Secondly, you must perm root for any custom clock settings to stick after a reboot. If you haven't been able to perm root, it may because you have the "bad" eMMC. A rooting method that works in that case is posted as a sticky in the dev section.
Thanks both of u anyway just in case I have a bad emmc can I have a link to dev way of rooting with that bad emmc

Just because you might have the bad chip dose not mean that can't root its because of the bootloader

you are incorrect. a plethora if users with the "bad" emmc have reported inability to root via visionary.
I still don kno if I have the bad emmc or not but I was still able to root it via gfree yesterday

search on xda. you will find the thread on how to check.
I can attest to the gfree + visionary method posted under the stickies. I was brand new to rooting and this method worked flawlessly for me. Only a week ago I didn't even know what rooting was, now I have the ULTIMATE s-off with engineering hboot (0.85.2007) and I have flashed the virtuous unity 1.31 pyramid with v4 kernel. I also loaded the Perfect Rosie 3.0 mod and the panache radio. XDA has been the best resource for me. I just wish I had enough posts to "thank" all the devs out there for the tools to get it done.
