How to launch FieldTest on CM7 RC1?
On official firmware it can be done with *#*#7262626#*#* code. CM7 has no fieldtest.apk in /system/app. I tried to copy apk file from official but it doesn't work as well.

Field test is a HTC app and may needs HTC's framework to work properly.
I would be careful with it, I played with the phone prefered band (GSM Only vs WCDMA prefered/only) and I could no longer get it back to GSM only, had to do a nandroid restore.
Too bad. I've tried some official-based roms (with sense) and it helped, but CM7 is much better for me. There is no point to change rom for single app. Though this app could be useful for my job sometimes.
Thanks for reply.

Some of my apps keep losing their names. Seems like it's whenever I do any type of large file transfer to or from the SD card. (ie downloading a megaupload file through browser or recording a video w/ camcorder)
Has anyone seen this before? Screenshot attached.
I am using a CDMA Hero on Sprint flashed with this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581846 -- [ROM] 08/11 1.1 - CDMA HERO MoDaCo Custom ROM Core featuring WaveSecure

I just got the Hero a few days back. I used to have a G1 so I'm familiar with how to do all this stuff, but I'm unsure what ROM to use.
Can anyone recommended a decent CDMA rom? I'm not looking for too much modification. I'm looking for an optimized rom with admin access.
Sorry if these are all newb questions.
Fresh Rom or the Unoffical MoDaCo 1.3.
I flashed and installed the latest CM Build and flashed enoch over it. Everything went smooth except one thing...I don't have the Android Market!!!
I searched everywhere and tried all the methods and I just can't do it. Can someone please tell me how to do it by adb or terminal?
Download links to the Vending.apk and Marketupdater.apk will be good since I pulled my .apk from the defang base for CM.
Thanks

Here ya go guys, it's Market v2.2.10. It installed and runs perfectly on my Crackflashers AOSP Gingerbread ROM. It's also fixed some issues where I would have to download something five or six times before it would install.
Parse error. Please post in a zip.

Over 150 downloads and it still doesn't work. Any updates?
If anyone has an android central login, can you sign in and download it there and repost here?

Thanks!
Here you go.
Blackrose, how did you install it?
I tried using Root Explorer to rename Vending.apk to Vending.apk.bak and then installing the file. I rebooted, but started getting FCs. I tried restoring the old Market but ended up needing to NANDroid. I am running Salvage Mod 9.6.
None of these are working.
Tried these and several others found around xda.. apparently its also being pushed to Nexus S. None of them work. Tried copying to /system/app and /data/app None of them in either place works.
Using stock 2.2 3.70 rooted rom.

I'm guessing it's because it was specifically designed for Gingerbread.
You have to push it via ADB..
ex..
adb push yourpathname\com.android.vending-1.apk /data/app
This worked for me.
Try this one. The one in the OP is for Gingerbread

I pushed this one via ADB, and while it opens and things look ok, as soon as I tap on a product I get an FC.
Is there something that needs to be done to initialize it? I did clear all the market settings before trying it.
Solution
Its not really much of a solution, more like an insight.
The reason why no one can install the market is because you flashed a rom without the market, then installed a newer version of gapps. The newer version of gapps assumes you updated and still have the market apk installed. The gapps file only includes the apk to update the market app.
Flash an older copy of gapps and then boot your phone. Run the setup and then flash an updated gapps. You now have the updated market.
Also anyone that was having the home button not working issue, this resolves it. Home button stopped working as a result of the above issue. You may have to install a rooted stock rom and then flash cm 6.1.2 and then your kernel and then the gapps in the above order.

Hey ladies and gents,
Anyone know if I can change the camera app in the build im using in my sig below? This is the best ROM I've tested over the past year or so and dozens of ROMs. This camera is the worst though. I cant tap to autofocus and it takes like 5 seconds to take a pic.
Thanks in advance.
I am using the same ROM you have. Found the apk file in the ROM thread where several people had good experience using the Miui CM7 camera. I am currently using it without any issues. Here is the link to the post from another user of Pongster's ROM with the apk link:

You need to use a File Explorer app to navigate to the camera.apk that you load and install it from there rather than use it to overwrite the old camera.apk that was there. I think that is what you did? You can have both .apks there at the same time. Shouldn't conflict.

It just says application not installed. I tried Root Explorer and another one built into the ROM.
I also tried wiping Dalvik after moving the APK unsuccessfully.
Why aren't I able to run it as you say?

Not sure why it is difficult to install. You can try off the Market, Camera360, another app that worked well for me. I just tested it again on my phone and it works. I used to use it when I was on Froyo and on Pongster's build until the suggestion from the poster on the link I sent you. I was trying to find the CWR zip file for the same Miui Camera but I can't seem to find it on the Pongster thread. If I find it, I will send you the link. In the meantime, try Camera360. It may be all you need.
Thought the information was in the Pongster thread but actually on its own thread. Here is the link to the link adding the Miui camera onto a CM7 build for HD2:

Hope this helps and works this time.

What would be the order of the operations?
1. move APK, overwriting old APK
2. Power off and boot into CWM
3. Wipe Dalvik
4. Reboot?
If his is correct, I am almost posive this is one of the things I tried.... I tried a lot.

Our HTC HD2's unfortunately do not have the hardware capabilities to record in 720p but can play back a 720p recording.
I noticed that few of the earlier CM7 nightlies enabled FFC. Around about #7-8. Then it was permanently disabled since RC1. Probably much much earlier than that. If I wanted to try, which Camera files from the earlier nightlies would I bring over to the latest builds for FFC to work? Thanks
just go into the galaxy s (international version) of CM7 and pull all the camera lib files.
navigate into the root ->system ->lib
you are looking for the following files:
libcameraservice.so
libcamerafirmwarejni.so
libcamera_client.so
libcamera.so
or u can just go dl my rom CM7 - Tron Edition, it is native with FFC support (since i have an ffc! and love it!)
hope this helps!!!
CM 7 MIUI ect ...prety roms// but ..nothing stable here. gps mute unmute video playback baseband issue and more and more

i figured it out.
i downloaded the original i9000 cm7 rom and extracted the 4 camera files
then every time i update my nightly rom i just copy those 4 files into the system/lib/ folder of the zip file using astro file manager.
then i flash using cwm in recovery
