Hiya
Ok so ive had my x1 a couple of weeks now and love it to bits, however im really struggling with mms and wondered if anyone else has the same problem or if theres a tweak for it
Im on three network in the UK, and have got all the right settings on it .. I can send sms, and can connect to the internet via my network, but when I try to send an mms it will let me compose it but wont send. It just sits in my outbox looking pretty but refuses to go!
Any help would be greatly appreciated .. thanks
Mella
Go into you sms\mms folder (where your sms's are)
Go Menu. MMS Options
Goto the Servers tab and check that it is using the correct mms server
You have to create a new connection for mms, and set it to default for mms so it changes connection when sending mms messeges
Hiya
Yeh I have the three mms settings and they are set as default, but it still wont go .. any more ideas guys?
Check the following, but change telstra to three:
Go to Start, Settings, Connections, then Connections again.
Go to the Advanced tab
Choose Select Network
Change the second drop down box to Telstra MMS
Make sure you soft reset after making these changes
If you are still stuck give the x1 support hotline a call. They have fixed a few problems for me.
Most operators have a service that sends you the mms settings through a text message. The phone can then automatically pick that up and config it.
Some operators don't support the X1 yet though.
Hi buzz, thanks for getting back to me again!
It doesnt give me that option in that box unfortunately .. I debranded my phone using the uk rom
I dont get how it will let me browse the internet using three internet settings yet not send an mms through them, and ive checked my mms settings so many times. Aggghhhrrr its driving me crazy!
Ooooh wheres the help line number? I think thats going to be my next option ..

Yes unfortunately three dont support this phone so will not send me the settings, but ive found the settings online aswell as checking through my previous phone so im 99% sure im doing it right
Ok, you need to make a new connection in that menu for the second drop down box.
The first drop down box should say Three Internet (or similar).
Click the "new" button below the second drop down box and use these settings:
3 MMS settings
Access Point Name: mms.three.co.uk
Username: blank
Password: blank
Gateway IP (proxy) address: 217.171.129.2
MMS Message (Relay) Server URL: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
Then go into your SMS/MMS inbox and check that 3 MMS is your default mms server.
Last of all... soft reset and you should be right.
Woohoo it worked it sent it!
My last phone wasnt half as technical as this so its taking me a while to learn the ins and outs, but im determined to perservere as I love it so much.
Buzz your an angel .. Thank you so much for your help
Mella
No worries.
Make sure you keep these settings somewhere (especially if you are flashing new roms).
It took me a while to get my mms settings working (no thanks to telstra), but I'm always happy to help.

Softbank MMS on Hero Android
Hello,
Exactly same problem here. The basic keys to solution are listed below
1.
I have hear from here that the problem can be fixed by setting up and using your own proxy server. I would gladly set this up and share with others, just do not know how.
2.
Another important thing is to forge User Agent - I have done so using HandcentSMS (free on android market), but still no luck
3.
it is necessary to setup APN properly. Currently I do not know wether I have to merge FlatRate Internet and MMS into a single APN or have separate APNs for Internet and MMS.
4. Anything else???
Anyone solved the MMS problem with Softbank so far?

Which type of USIM card are you using?
In my case, I am using iPhone Black USIM card & cyanogen MOD.
And it works perfect. Of course I set up my APN as of iPhone.
In my test and experience, UA setting is very sensitive.
Wrong UA, NO mms.
Proper UA for your USIM card, MMS is there.
Good luck.
Hey guys,
I'm on Softbank as well.. so far no problems sending MMS but have had problems receiving MMS on several occasions.. I can accept MMS from other Softbank numbers, and in most cases, emails from other providers (@softbank, @docomo, @ezweb, etc). But there have been problems receiving from webmails such as Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.. The MMS notification arrives, but when it actually downloads the messages, it's empty.. meaning a blank message from Anonymous.. Occasionally, I do have problems with emails that are in Japanese..
I've merged both FlatRate Internet and MMS APN settings into one APN and haven't had any problems with it as far data transfers and MMS is concerned.. but, I've only used this settings for a month, and at the moment, the FlatRate Internet seems to be working.. I'll have to check next month's bill to be sure..
I'm using the old Vodafone USIM (been here a while) with HT-03A Black on CyanogenMod 4.2.9.1 with UA set as 705NK.. the ones provided in the CM build didn't seem to work as well..

hi
i have a nokia e51 unlocked - about three months ago when i first got it i managed to set up all the apn stuff ok and then after a couple of weeks the mms stopped working with an error message like mms server refused message.
i entered a different apn setting and it worked fine:
??” MMS ??” server: open.softbank.ne.jp
user: opensoftbank
pass: ebMNuX1FIHg9d3DA authentication:
Normal home page: http://mms/
proxy server address: mmsopen.softbank.ne.jp
proxy server nunber: 8080
but today it stopped working again - i cant send mms messages - just says waiting and retry.
has this happened to anyone else? none of the other apn settings i've found and used for mms work.
many thanks in advance for any info.
web browsing is fine using:

I am using G1 and I am on Airtel Mumbai.
I have mobile office GPRS.
All I have done is entering APN as airtelgprs.com and all other values as blank and I have my GPRS.....
Couldn't this just have gone in the Big APN Thread?

Hey.... getting the MMS working was my challenge...
Internet just needs the airtelgprs.com APN.
I did not put this in the APN Big thread as there are many users searching for Airtel APN in India and if this becomes a part of a big thread then google would not be able to index it.

I had a though time finding the setting for Airtel India specially for MMS, so thought of creating a separate thread.

Hey your welcome...I had a tough time searching so thought of putting it up so others can get it easily.
Wanted to add one point to my post:
If you have added the APN for Airtelgprs.com and then after exiting the settings add the MMS it sometime wont work on G1. Delete all APN`s and then add both one after other.
Thanks a lot...These settings are useful for iPhone as well.
Hello all,
I've just returned from 3 weeks in India and I used my AirTel SIM card (Rajasthan-sourced) in Jaipur, Agra, Delhi, Cochin, Bangluru, Goa, Mumbai and on many trains.
It worked very well and had excellent coverage. Pretty cheap, too!
Had a devil of a time getting it all started though. Luckily I had a WM6.5 phone that allowed me to use SMS help since the 121 HelpLine was more than USELESS! (English tree prompts kept hanging up on me). Turned out the shop I bought the sim card from neglected to turn on GPRS...
WM6.5 and SMS menus and I had it going in a few minutes.
GPRS activation was the key...
All I put in for the APN was airtelgprs.com and just named it India!
Good luck all.

1)If you have email working now, then it will work whenever you have a data connection.
2)I'm guessing you're going to have to pay for data
3) What does GPS have to do with with EDGE? The google maps application will be able to download the map tiles on whatever connection you have, be it GPRS, EDGE or 3G.
ok thanks a lot..
eagerly waiting for my g1
3g has been just introduced here and data plans are sick vvv costly as of now..
3g n/w has not been alotted to private firms as yet..

GPS (Global Positioning System) works in India and is free.
GPRS needs to be activated and Airtel has Edge i dont have idea about Vodafone.
Gmail will be setup automatically and so will gtalk.
For MSN and Yahoo you need to download a 3rd Party app.
To configure any pop3 email it has easy steps to configure.
PM me if u need ne help
Oh thanks a lot will need your help later...
God when i am going to receive my G1..still 10 days to go..aww..
One last thing can u tell me whn and how the G1 will get bricked..
Is there any possibility to revert it back without any h/w changes?
coz if i brick it here then it wd remain dead & i wont be able to ship back to usa..
Dont play with the Customs Roms without reading the steps.
Follow the steps do ur homework before u start playing the the ROMS
THANKS Mate! You posted these steps back in 2009. These are still helpful now in 2011 when many are using Android devices. Specially the MMS part.
I don't know how you figured out that but my respect for finding out.
On first attempt I simply edited the details and did not delete the APNs. But I had to completely follow the steps by deleting all APNs and so on. Finally it worked.
Also, your decision to create separate thread was right. I came thru Google lookin for "Airtel MMS Settings on Android".
Cheers

Hi I was wondering if anyone here knew about MMS settings for the new cellphone carrier in Canada called Mobilicity. They are similar to Wind Mobile. I read the forum on the O2 MMS settings, which helped a lot. However, i still cant get the Mobilicity MMS to work. Anyone have any suggesstions? Thanks
i'm gonna guess that this is you if not take a look lol
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1652256-Mobilicity-MMS
o yea
O yea, its me, i'm askin in both spots. The O2 discussion earlier does help a lot, cause it goes in detail about the MMS menu. But even after putting in those settings from the howardforums help, it still doesnt send or receive
Have exactly the same problem as OP.
same problem .. i have samsung vibrant and i can't receive or send mms
i double checked my mms apn setting and it's all good
what is the solution ?!
Simple solution
Copy the settings from mobilicity webpage mobilicity.ca/uploads/phone-manuals/NexusOne-Guide2.pdf, the only different thing that you have to do is under Authentication type select NONE, by default says not set or something like that, that's what they forgot to pinpoint in the configuration, by doing this I was able to send mms without problem, hope it helps
Hi I just wanted to add that I also had the same problem and what solved it for me is that I was missing some info on the data side of the settings, but I still had data working regardless. My phone is HTC Sensation and I used all the settings provided by mobilicity on there web site on how to set it up.
http://mobilicity.ca/support/phones...MMS-picture-messaging-will-function-properly/
if the link above is followed correctly with both the data and mms settings put in exactly the same then there shouldnt be a problem. Oh and also on the HTC you have this setting asking for the authentication type which should be set to none.
Go read my post on how to fix it !

First off let me say I've been searching EXTENSIVELY on this issue.
I'm in the US on T-Mobiles HTC HD2 (obviously).
When I purchased the phone it had already been rooted (I believe that is the correct term). It was running winmo 6.5 along with Android on an SD card.
I haven't had the phone long but I've learned so much from this site regarding modding and such. I can NOT send MMS messages on Android (I believe I remember sending one on Winmo). I don't have a data plan and I've tried every single APN I've found. Still nothing.
I recently flashed my phone with the new MAGLDR. I used "MDJ_Revolution_HD_v._2.2_NAND". It runs pretty smooth.. Except no mms capability =(. I've updated the Radio to the most recent. 2.15~ (I think).
I've read that possibly it's the ROM I'm using. Like I said I've been searching, please bare with me on this question, but I'm a little confused on what a ROM actually is. From what I've read everything I've found is a "winmo" rom. I beleive the rom that came with my phone (note: it came from someone else, its not stock) is Energy? It's a blue logo at bootup.
Would I have better luck with the MMS if I flashed to another rom? And if so, how would that affect my android? This site is full of information and sometimes it's hard to sift through what I need and what is extra. ANY help on this matter would be greatly greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I didn't know that you could send an MMS without a data plan. Most Android builds won't send MMS over Wifi and without a data plan. Some of the new NAND builds have MMS working over Wifi.

My old Nokia would send good quality MMS without a data plan so I just assumed this would be the same. If you think this is the case then I suppose I can stop beating my head against the wall.

I knew it! How did they get it working?
There were three phones on our family plan and none of them would send/recieve MMS. I don't know what they did to get it working, however, they sent information from the cell towers to the phones repeatedly until all three phones worked properly.
2 things u need to check out is to fix the problem,
1. (Boot Android) if u are in roaming area u need to go to your settings go to wireless and networks then go to mobile networks (NOT MOBILE NETWORK) and simply click on the checkmart data roaming to enable data tranfer over roaming coverage and then go to Accesspoint names and clik on the one avaliable. ( you should now be able to send and recieve MMS messages or send them over your network.

The MMS should be setup as follows:
1. Settings --> Wireless and Networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access Point Names
2. The APN should be named "T-Mobile US"
3. Edit that or create it and the settings within should be:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: (leave this blank)
Password: (leave this blank)

MMS Port: 8080
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: (leave this blank)
Once done, back your way out, maybe reboot the phone for good measure but shouldn't be required. To test success, send yourself a picture message (mms).
Hope that helps
My Streak actually had two entries for APN's. One as above, and one called T-Mobile MMS

Thanks, but that one never worked. I heard that was for if you HAVE a data plan, seeing as how I don't I was able to use this one:
Name: mms
APN: wap.voicestream.com
username: mms
password: mms
MMSC: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050

And it works now!
Ok update: Now all the MMS I receive are very very small. 4KB~ Average. Any Ideas?
New Problem
I have all the MMS Settings set up properly. The onlu problem that I have is...
I am able to send picture messages aka MMS Messages ( I am on an unlimited messaging plan and hence the picture messages are included)
However I have problems downlading and viewing them.
Lets say my friend sends me a picture message ( a .jpg file) It shows me in the subject that there is an attachment but when I try to download it (first it doesn't even automatically downloads it when I have it set up correct )
the error message comes up " Unable to download message from __"
Can anyone help me ? I don't know how this issue started. I only remember that MMS messages used to download by themselves once before.

OK, this is dumb, but try this...
Settings/All Settings/Connections/Connections/Advanced/Select Networks
on the drop down list select T-Mobile MMS. Then, Edit. Tap & Hold on black dot T-Mobile MMS, Then Connect.
