Hey, is anyone else getting an error message when trying to look at there notification in the FB app? i dunno whats going on, i never got any notification forwarded to my phone and when i try to check i get the error message
It's a problem with the Facebook app, not the phone. They're working on it.
yeah i figured! well its cool then i ll just wait for the update! thanks
I did have this error and I'm happy to report that it's working now.
I posted this earlier today in another forum on these boards, but there seems to be a temporary solution until the developer really fixes the app:
So I think I've figured out what's causing these notification parsing errors for now. The Facebook app should still be fixed to address these, but it seems like they're coming from third party Facebook applications that you've authorized to make updates to your notifications feed. I logged into Facebook on a regular browser and clicked on Notifications > See All, and then unchecked a bunch of apps from the "Applications You've Authorized" section. For the heck of it, I also went into Account Settings > Notifications and made changes there and suddenly I'm getting notifications in the Android app. It seems like some of the custom notifications from non-FB apps might be tripping up whatever is used by the Android app to parse the notification data.

Thanks for the heads up. I got rid of some other notifications I had like for my BB just in case.
It is pretty simple really. Just goto the bottom of the notifications page and select "Show More" if you don't see "Facebook for Android" otherwise click the checkbox next to it and you should be good to go.
mine started working today as well
Hello everyone.
So first of all I love this phone, the speed, the capabilities and especially the battery life.
What I don't feel is tied to just this phone is me not being able to get facebook notifications. I get a notification if I receive a new message but that's all.
This happened on my Note 3 as well. I have logged in on a friends phone into my facebook account and the same thing. I do not get any notifications. I even used the old method of trying to log in on a blackberry and that didn't work either.
What I have noticed in Facebook Account settings is that I can not check on "group post or comments" under my notification settings.
I'm thinking it's some old app that I used on another phone that stopped this from working but I could be wrong. I have tried to turn off app on the platform setting and still nothing works.
All I receive now is the number of notifications "number" on the Facebook app icon. Don't shoot me but I like getting the actual notifications from Facebook to my phone to alert me.
Does any of you kind souls have an idea to how I can fix this? Or something you have tried that got your notifications working again.
I know about some third party apps but that's not what i'm looking for if I can help it.
Any help or ideas help.
Thank you
Did you got a solution?
I have this issue since a year and I cannot fix it. It's related to my account because whenever I log in to any other account, I got notifications.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I've tried everything from deleting app data to a factory reset.
I am still not getting any notifications for Facebook. The only type of notifications I am getting is the Icon Badge.
Yes I have notifications turned on for Facebook.
Mine work but the only widget is missing

My S7E seems to be automatically clearing my Facebook notifications (plus some other notifications too). I have no idea why it is doing this.

How do you know it's doing this? Can you see the notifications pop up for a split second?

Well first I kept hearing my notification sound and when checking had no notifications. But then while using the phone I noticed notifications pop up for a second and instantly dissapear.
This phone seems to have a mind of it's own as some of my settings are turning themselves on and off.

It's definitely something odd going on.
When you responded to this post, I got the Tapatalk notification instantly however my Gmail isn't updating on it's own all of the time which means the push notifications don't come across. I have to do a manual refresh in the Gmail app. With Facebook, I am getting the badge icon instantly but I am getting no sound or banner notifications with the phone on or at idle.
I normally don't use the app. I'm not a big FB fan but the app is working fine for me. I only use FB for a few mobile games. But I'm getting notifications without any issues.
I seem to have fixed my Facebook notifications or at least I think I did. So far it has worked with a few test posts I made.
For some reason, I think this has to do with migrating to the iPhone and then switching back.
Anyhow, I downloaded and synced Facebook with my old Nexus 7 that we keep around to keep our 3 year old daughter entertained with when we go to restaurants.
What happened is kind of strange. I started getting notifications on my S7 instantly but now I am not getting the notifications on the Nexus 7. Anyone else find this odd?
i have kinda the same thing. it give me notifications but only on the app widget. it shows the number of notifications but not a notification in the bar on top. i have to keep the facebook app on my main screen so when i turn it on it shows if i have any notifications in the app. it has bugged me like crazy.

I don't even have the option to put the Facebook widget on my homescreen. Where did you find the widget?
Also, it sounds like you are having the same issues I was. I had the facebook icon sitting on my home screen and it would show the icon badge for how many notifications I had but I wasn't getting the notification banners at the top.
I don't understand how syncing Facebook with a old Nexus 7 cleared this issue up but so far the notifications on my S7 seem to be working.
I've had no push notifications for about a year and a half on my HTC One M7, and still the same issue now on the S7 Edge, however I do get the widget notifications at least. I have checked all my Facebook settings and all notifications are enabled. Dont know why I just stopped getting push notification. Wonder if its something on my Facebook account.
I am not getting any Facebook notifications either. I migrated from an iPhone 6S and I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.
Not sure how I would go about fixing it though.
I have never owned an iPhone so it's not that for me

That's what I am thinking. Do you have another device laying around like a tablet or another phone? If so, try loading your Facebook account on it. If you don't then maybe you could try a friends phone.

I have a backup Galaxy S5 that I could try it on. I'll see if I have some time this week to experiment.
Might be worth logging into your Facebook on the desktop version and going into settings, Notifications, Mobile and seeing if something has been disabled in here.
I wasn't getting Facebook notifications on the Messenger app, just the badge and icon. Took me ages to finally find out that somehow that at option was disabled when I logged into the app on my S7. Not done this on any other phone.
Not sure what happened but I'm getting notifications now.

Yea. Mine have been off and on since yesterday. Actually, all of my notifications have been off and on since I got the phone on Saturday.
Samsung needs to fix these bugs......Fast
Hi everybody.
I am not able to turn off the push notifications on Instagram. Everytime I try the check mark goes back to everyone. It is annoying. I have uninstalled the app several times and logged out from Facebook as well.
Don't know if anyone here has the same issue or had, if so, how did you get rid of it?
Thanks

I find even when I stop the notifications it still runs its notification service in the back like the resource hog it is.. Alternatively you can use androids inbuilt notification blocker.. Go to app info and block all notifications
You can also Greenify the app if you are rooted. Personally, I stay away from social media because of its psychological effects and impact on battery life.
