Removing the HTC lockscreen - EVO Shift 4G General

Can someone please tell me how to remove the HTC locksreen so its the regular android? Thanks

You have to be rooted. And rename the htclockscreen.apk to htclockscreen.bak
Sent from my never been rooted, stock Froyo Epic.

how do you find/rename the file

I would recommend getting a root explorer. Htc lock screen app is in /system/app I believe. You could also use adb or a terminal emulator.
Open terminal emulator
Su
Cd /system/app
Mv htclockscreen.apk htclockscreen.sav
Hope that helps...
Don't forget to reboot

Get root explorer or something similar then mount as write then go to system/app and look for htclockscreen.apk and the odex file and delete them or move them somewhere in ur sdcard so u can restore it later if u want. Then reboot. U might have to reboot twice if it dosent work
Sent from my EVO Shift

You could also install WidgetLocker from the market. It will let you change the appearance of the lock screen, one of the choices is stock android.

Thanks now my rom is looking sexier lol now if I could find a working AOSP Mms.apk that sends mms..suggestions?

I found out, after removing the HTC lockscreen, that there is no way to turn off an alarm since the snooze and dismiss functions are integrated into the lockscreen apk, apparently. I had to restart the phone, or set alarm volume to 0 to get it to stop. I went back to the HTC lockscreen for now.

can some please post the stock lockscreen apk and the odex file?
i took it off with root explorer and i thought i saved it but i cant find it....
thanks for anyone who posts it

Android Clock

I have the stock android clock for those of you who are like me and just hate the way the TouchWiz one works.
blueman9.com/android/DeskClock.apk
Just click on it in the file browser on your phone after you download it.
Thank you
Thank you for posting this. The Samsung clock app didn't work properly for me, whenever I hit snooze it just wouldn't go off.
For the Samsung clock I believe you have to press the snooze button down for a second or two.

[Q] How to change the lock screen

Hi all,
I'm running the mattc Leo Evo ROM and I'm very happy whit it, but I would like to change the lock screen because sometimes when I pull the phone out of my pocket the incoming calls are accepted when I don't want to...
So, is it possible to change the lock screen?
Regards,
Delete the htclockscreen.apk from your /data/app folder, and reboot. It will give you the default froyo lockscreen.

That would be system/app it's right there!
Hello again!
That method works with the lock screen, but I would also like to change the screen to accept incoming calls.
Is it possible?
Regards,
Nobody knows how to do it?

The best way is to use the app called WidgetLocker. It has the original Vanilla Froyo lockscreen and a bunch of extra options with it!

getting rid of *slide down* unlock screen

does anyone know how i can get rid of this slide to unlock screen. which is completely useless?
you can set a screen lock, or download a lockscreeen replacement
Only one I can think of offhand would be "Lock 2.0"
-Cheers
Widget Locker is what I"m using, disables to the HTC lock and replaces it with either stock android or some other design of your choice, its a paid app though

I'm having trouble here. I don't have the odex file, and I'm getting read only error on adb/shell, and file explorers just don't do anything. Running Iced Glacier, S-OFF.

now we need one for the normal HTC lock screen
I use a widget pack called Switch Pro from the market. It's a paid app but VERY customizable. One of the widgets toggles the screen lock function so that, when activated, the home screen appears with the push of any button. No lock screen at all. Very handy. There's also a "screen always on" toggle which can be customized with a timer.

[Request] Stock lockscreen in Sense build

I love the Sense rom, but the default lookscreen is unusable if you put your HD2 in the jeans pocket.
I wonder if is possible to have a Sense rom with the default froyo lockscreen instead of the standar one.
I tryed many lockscreen apk from the market, but they didn't work, always have crash or the default sense slider to asnwer a call (and that is the real problem )
I think that is a common problem for many many HD2 users, and a good solution could be appreciate from everyone.
Could some developer try to realize a Sense rom with the original Froyo lockscreen?
Thank you and sorry for my poor English
its easy... get root explorer, go to root>system>apps
then search for HTC Lockscreen.apk and delete both the apk file and the supporting odex file, reboot your phone, and youre done.
EDIT: warning, however if you use your phones alarm clock, the built in HTC lockscreen has the dismiss, and the snooze button built into it, so once deleted, you will not be able to turn off the alarm, you will have to either shut down the phone, or pull the battery and reboot.

You right. But with all this trick you always have something not working.
I would like (and I think I'm not the only one) to have a Rom with all working.
how about searching for a replacement lockscreen with a slider that goes from side to side, like s2u2/iphone so it won't unlock in your jean pocket?
check this one out! http://www.appsbeyond.com/apps/screen-suite
For me deleting "HTC Lockscreen.apk" solve 50% of the problem. It solve only the default lock screen, but when you get a call, the "Call LockScreen" left as it was (up to down).
After some playing I found that deleting the "HTC" apk and installing "Full Screen Caller ID" from the market solved 98% of my accidental phone answers
there must be an option to use the stock call lock, without installing apps which cost money or have the permissions to services with cost.

I think that the problem is the sense lockscreen apk, if you do not delete it you always have some problem with lockscreen.
I wonder if deleting the apk I'll go back with the stock froyo slider also for answering or not.
Thank you
Install ""DIY Lockscreen" from the market. One of the options is to have the stock lockscreen (called 'android jog' there) and it's great and far more responsive than sense

Bonus Benefit of Removing HTC Lock Screen

If you remove the HTC Lock Screen the screen no longer turns on when you plug it in or unplug it
(Make sure and reboot after removing it)

Removing the lock screen is the only way to go. I just wish there was a way to remove the default pull down answer screen when the phone is in lock mode. Half the time it takes me 10 swipes before the phone answers, I hate the sense side down answer.
How do I remove it?
you have to be rooted, but once you are it's fairly straightforward. you need to open up the adb shell, and from there type in:
Code:
rm system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
the first time I tried, it told me permissions denied, even with su in front, so added busybox to the front of the command:
Code:
busybox rm system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
and make sure you reboot your phone!
I think your alarm clock may not be able to be silenced/snoozed if you remove this. You will probably have to use a different one from the market.
that is rather annoying, thanks for the heads up >.<
anybody who has clockwork mod2.5 (green version) can download the Vanilla lockscreen .zip from the AwesomeRom thread and it will remove HTCLockscreen and the alarmclock and another one of the apps that stops working and replaces them with the vanilla alternative.
just thought you should know. works on both deodexed roms and odex roms.
I disabled the lockscreen a while ago. It worked okay but sometimes the graphics on the lock sliders flaked out or were missing until you touched the screen. I went back.
Many times when I pull the phone out of my pocket while its ringing I slide it up or down. Most of the time dropping the call.

I removed with Titanium, but I like the generic lock screen even less. I backed up the HTC Lockscreen with Titanium, but can't restore.. It has check with backup date.. Any easy way back?
Removing stock lockscreen + installing WidgetLocker 1.2.4 =
I managed to get the stock Sense lock screen back. Retrieved the apk from a Rom. Moved it to the Titanium backup folder, restored it..
so its confirmed that you cant shut the htc alarm clock off if you remove the lockscreen? can you still shut if off through the alarm app or when you unlock the screen?

Yes, I have no issue turning mine off. All I have to do is unlock the screen and the notification is up.
