[Q] Deleted SMS storage - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What file in my internal memory would possibly hold my deleted SMS? I did a temporary root and found the current texts since delete but not sure where to look for the others. Thanks so much!

Store Text msg in memory card

Hi all,
I want to store all my incoming text msg's to my memory card.
Yesterday i did a Restore Factory settings and all my messages were erased.
Plzzz help me out.
Thanks
Ganesh
I am not sure if it's possible unlike nokia to store messages in Memory card but you can use a backup program like PIM Backup which takes backup of ur messages and contacts and later restore it. It's a very small utility and create backups in zip format.
Use Microsoft My Phone, this gives you the option of backing up all txt mgs on line, then you can restore all of them after a hard reset.

[Q] How to transfer one phone's info to another?

My Vibrants USB connector is screwy and im going to ask for a replacement. Once I get my replacement, how I do transfer my info?
Contacts and Calendar will automatically get transfered from Google.
With Titanium Backup - do I just copy that folder over from one internal SD to the other and then proceed to reinstall apps?
What about other app data, etc.. Should I just copy over folders from one to other? Would that work?

All of the above should work just fine.

I'll just echo shrivel and say you should be fine doing that however you will probably need to download the actual apps as the all's don't save with Titanium. Basically when you go to the market and download an app the apk is saved and installed on your phone what titanium will do is save all the data once you make a change to your phone say installing a Rom it wipes the data and uninstalls all of your apps. But it does not delete the apk so when you use titanium to restore it looks for that apk to reinstall it with the same data and setting. If you completely wipe your phone or copy the backup file to a new phone titanium will be looking for the apk to reinstall but its not there.
I know that was kind of long and if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

I'm doing this right now and cant seem to get it to work.
I have titanium and a friend backed everything up to my ext. sd card.
How do I get titanium to pull it off of the sd card? Or if I transfer it to the internal card in a folder (which is what its in) how do I get titanium to see the folder?
I can see the folder with astro on the internal card, but titanium doesn't see it?
What am I doing wrong? any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

your backup folder containing all the backups should be named TitaniumBackup and placed on the root of your internal sdcard. or you can specify the name of your backup folder in the preferences menu in titaniumbackup.
also, titianium backs up your app+data for you, so you don't need to re-download it from the market. if you want to backup other stuff like call log, text messages, home screen icons, phone contacts etc, use 'mybackup pro'
I feel like an idiot, How do I get to the root?
Do I have to use a computer to do it? or can I transfer the files there from the sd card or the internal memory?
Please be patient me

In astro if you press the home button it should take you to the root of the internal sd. Top should say that you are in directory /sdcard. Just move the TitaniumBackup folder to there and it should work.
EDIT: The home button in astro BTW, at the top under the notification bar, not the android home button on the bottom of the phone.
titanium backup folder is there and all the files are in it.
When I open up the app titanium back up, go to back up/ restore and then hit menu, batch, I don't see the files that are in that folder only whats on the phone as it came from tmobile (none of my apps and files)
What am I doing wrong or failing to do?
If your going back to the same kernel/ROM you can do a nandroid backup of your system files as well.

[Solved] How can I delete my nandroid backups? I have no nandroid folder

Hi everybody, I was about to install a new rom, and I made a nandroid backup, when the progress bar had almost reached the end, it gave me an error, so I decided to leave flash for another moment, but when I turned on the phone, the internal memory appeared full, 0 bytes free. I guess it is occuped by the backup that cwm has been able to do until the error occurred (which surely have been because of the space). So, could you tell me please, where does the backup get saved, to be able to delete it?? seriously urgent as I have not even one byte free ....
PS: I've read that should be in a folder called ClockworkMod and inside, in a folder named backup, but I havent got that folder. Also I've noticed that the /data folder of the root directory occupies 10Gb, so I guess this could be the folder, as in internal memory I have only 3Gb, the problem is that I do not know which folders and files can be deleted from there, and what must be in that folder.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks!! That was the solution. I entered recovery and in backup/restore y chose delete, then I pressed in the only option I had and that's all. Now I have 5Gb free!! Thank you very much!

[Q] Lost directories while backingup (downloads and hsm)

Hello
not sure if there is any solution to this -
i was manually backing up all files from the android filesystem
Directories like
DCIM
WHATSAPP
HSM - IPhone pictures backup

i successfully manged to backup DCIM / WHATSAPP AND DOWNLOADS .and then for some reason the backup stopped and when i went back to the internal storage the directories DOWNLOADS AND HSM vanished - lost or whatever .
i tried looking through gallery through my files and also via windows - its actually deleted since the files were almost 7 gig in size - its showing i have that much more space in internal storage NOTE 3 sm-n900-
is there anyways i can get these files/directories back ?
