So this thoughts arises with the fact I am having trouble with my sfc2.6 ebo1. FCs etc. I have wiped and I want to totally want to start fresh so I am thinking about doing an Odin and start over.
So first...is an Odin flash the "ultimate wipe"
If so why don't developers package .tar files of their roms for those of us that want to, say flash kaos' cm7 v6 when it drops, we could just Odin everything needed to start fresh (kernel etc) and wouldn't have to worry about wiping.
Is this a good idea?
Is it harder to supply .tar files for odin than zips for cwm?
Love to hear some feedback.

I thought the same thing, i had a bad experience with cw, but i love odin... like the all in one eb01, that worked sweet, i wish all roms could be setup like that. I would definitely be trying more things if i could always use odin.

From what I can see, the all in one .tar method is somewhat new. It's being incorporated more and more with each ROM release. I don't think an all in one Odin package existed prior to the DL30 leak, so I'd bet that this will eventually be the case.
Actually they're nothing new. There's an all in one DI01 package that's been around for quite a while now, among others I'm sure.

exactly my point.
Why not when adryn releases sc2.7 why not release a regular zip and an all complete .tar?

I can't speak for everyone but I personally wouldn't want an Odin flashable file becauase I don't want to have to be tied to my computer all the time in order to flash roms. I like to download/flash on the go, and CWR allows me to do this.

I agree with you, but I can see how some people would like the use of an all in one odin. Especially if they're uncomfortable using CWM and worrying about disabling voodoo, having the correct kernel/radio, etc. I don't see a need for me personally but I can see it being useful for inexperienced users especially

I, for one, would use both. Sometimes I settle on a rom for a while and feel like starting totally fresh.
Choice is a good thing.

Odin is a low level tool for samsung. It's not typically what the android users use to flash roms.
The problem with odin is that it can destroy a phone much more effectively than cwm/recovery. It's dangerous. Just one wrong setting can make your phone boot up with an att logo with you calling verizon for a new phone. Just safer to use cwm.
I dont like the idea of using Odin more than needed. It just cries break me!
That and flashing system in Odin seems to trigger a data reset.

Your obviously missing the point, the di01 odin is used for recovering from a brick (for the most part)... were talking about all the cool roms being available in odin form instead of only cw

droidxcon on android central puts together odin packages of all adrynalynes roms.
One thing I am still wondering.
Would using Odin to flash a rom package pose a benefit of starting from scratch with no residual data/info left from previous setup?
Sent through mental telepathy.
I may be way off in left field, but Odin seems to be akin to using Ghost imaging softwares. The 2 major downsides to Odin have already been mentioned: requirement of a computer/cable/usb drivers, and the potential to break if you hit the wrong option. Otherwise, good brick recovery.
Creating odin packages is kinda time consuming. since you have to go complete stock. and I mean COMPLETE stock. Flash the custom rom and kernel, dump the system partition, which usually ends up being around 300MB. and then you have to package everything into a .tar file and embed the MD5 sum. and uploading a 300+ MB tar takes a whiles longer than a ~130+ MB zip. flashable zips and the Odin tars each have their benefits. But packaging an AIO for EVERY rom release seems a little too much to me.

I've looked around and I can only find ODIN roms for J16. Anything that can be flashed with Clockwork? It's probably right in front of me knowing me. Am I missing something?
No, ODIN is not an option.
I just installed bionix fusion, which is based on JI6 but with the JI2 modem. However there is a clockwork-flashable JI6 modem that I used.
This took about 10 seconds to locate:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808830
I saw that, but I also saw that it had some wifi bugs while reading the topic. I'll try it but I need a clean and bugless flashable image of J16.
I hate bumping topics, but I have to. Are there any stock J16 clockwork flashable images available that do not have Wifi issues?
If not, do you think when Froyo stock is released they will have one? I really want Touchwiz froyo when it comes out (Soon! The i9000 is getting updates as we speak). Whether it's having stock J16 and upgrading through the carrier or flashing a stock froyo rom through clockwork, I just want to make sure I have TW froyo.
If you just need the ji6 modem then can't you just go to team whiskey website they have the ji2 n ji6 modems.. If thats not what your looking for then sorry.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
It doesn't appear that there are solid flashable JFD/JI6 ROMs. Some will argue about TouchWiz, Bionix has integrated a portion of TW in Fusion but you want stock. So....
Option 1) Buckle down, sell the Apple, get a PC, use Odin, install JI6.
Option 2) If you've got a newer Apple, buckle down, install parallels/bootcamp, install XP/Win7, use Odin, install JI6.
Option 3) Use a friends PC, use Odin, install JI6.

ODIN isn't an option because you are using a Mac? I don't think I read that. Please inform us otherwise why you can't use ODIN.
wait, if all this is just because of froyo, just freaking flash eugene r6 when it comes out or just wait for one of the developers to get the OTA froyo and make a flashable version.
Flash bionix and enjoy it in the meatime...

99.7% of the time that's the predominant answer as to why someone can't use Odin. So I'm assuming that's why s/he can't...
I'd like an answer too, I hate following the SWAG principle.

I should have mentioned why I can't use ODIN. Haha. Well, there ARE only Mac's around me but my issue is that my computer that I have with me where I'm at currently is my netbook. ODIN is too big for the resolution on my little 10.1 inch screen. Haha. I guess I can try dual booting an old copy of XP on my brothers Macbook.
EDIT: I might have been the only one in the world to not like Bionix. The standby battery life was meh on my device. I'm using AOSPish by Anderdroid and I love it. My quest for stock TW was in case I ever needed to send the device back to T-Mo.

Dont believe the current methods of rooting supports EA28. Why dont you flash EB01 roms as those are pre-rooted. (Along with modem)

No, you will need to be rooted as it uses CWM.
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11410537
It will use Odin instead of CWM, also pre-rooted.
My phone udated to EA28 right after I got it and I had a little trouble getting it rooted as well. What ultimately helped me was this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10601576&postcount=1
Specifically the part where he says
I have found that the stock Samsung kernel is very sneaky and replaces clockwork on the next reboot...it seems to be most common with those who have updated using Verizon's OTA updates. Odin users usually do not see the issue and hence, was tough to track down.
So to alleviate this, please add an extra option to your list of things to do. On FIRST boot into clockwork recovery, please flash your appropriate kernel of choice. For simplicity, I have added a rather plain kernel (non-voodoo) for those who may want to flash their choice of kernel later. This must be done for those who have this problem, no matter if clockwork is red or green.

There is a link to a kernel to flash before rebooting your phone. Worked for me.
By the way, I have just recently come from a Motorola Droid where I've been flashing ROMs for the past year. This phone does seem slightly more difficult, but so far (almost two weeks in) I'm really pleased with it. I'm currently running Super Clean 2.4 with VooDoo.
Good luck!

We have some odin files, but they're untested. They are also rooted :-/
If we can get someone to test our DJ20 odin files, then I'm sure someone can figure out how to remove root from them.

I got a stock ROM and kernel from imnuts; would that be the same ones you have?
I flashed that stock ROM and kernel using ODIN on my continuum (which was previously bricked by too much tinkering), and everything works on the phone except for cell data (well, I haven't tested bluetooth on it). If you have different images, I'd be happy to try them out and let you know how it goes.
I also will probably try re-flashing them again just to see if it comes out differently.

Your best bet would be FREEZING your bloatware with Titanium backup PRO to see if you encounter any negative side-effects. If so all you have to do is unfreeze. I freeze apps I don't want and after a week (after backing up) I'll go ahead and fully uninstall them. One at a time, so if **** hits the fan, you know what to restore...

I would be happy with just an ICS leak!!!
HC stinks!
There are leaks for everything else... Rezound, Razr, Galaxy Note... why not for this tab?
I wondered that too. There also isn't an official stock firmware listed in the dev forum T_____T
Would someone mind posting the build.prop from the stock rom (as an attachment to your post would be great, so it is easy to download).
Here ya go!
Anyone know if there is an equivalent to Sprint's RDF pages for Verizon? Or Samsung? I know with the Samsung Epic 4g Touch we all watched this page for updates. Any ideas?
I would much rather run a buggy ICS leak than HC.

No!!!
Freeze the bloat, don't remove it (yet). As long as there is not even a factory image to restore the tab in case of screw ups!! If you delete an app and the next OTA update comes out, it will fail, because it won't find the deleted app and therefore abort the entire update!!
:-(
Someone needs to find the Odin flashable factory ROM at least, better would be an ICS leak like on all the other phones and tablets...
ICS leaks all over the place for phones, but tabs.... nowhere to be found.

Yes I do have a full Linux at hand! How do you make an Odin flashable from an installed ROM? Say for example I take my table and do a full factory wipe, clear all caches etc, only leave root intact. How can I then pull the entire state into an odin flashable that will basically clone my tablet exactly the way it is? I could do that and publish the file, so that the community finally has a backup ROM in case someone accidentally hoses their tablet !!
I'd like to help with this effort in any way possible. Very fluent in Linux with access to many servers. Need some guidance on just what needs to be done.

HI guys, I'd like to post this here. Here is the latest Odin flash update I pulled from Kies and my device the other day. This is as new as it gets for Samsung Galaxy Camera. You will need Odin3 and the following files
PIT: http://d-h.st/3B3
CSC: http://d-h.st/AVe
MODEM: http://d-h.st/Nbl
PDA: http://d-h.st/U7K
Not much more to say, Hope this gets someone out of a sticky situation.
I wonder if they'll ever remember they made this device and give us another update, not necessarily a version upgrade, but give it some extra functions in the camera app.

I'm sorry, I don't understand. What do you want? You want me to whip up a CASUAL recovery installer? Or what kind of recovery.zip are you looking for? Generally you install .zips from a recovery, I wouldn't be making a ROM for the camera, but I can help to make it easier to install ROMs.

This device has received the same support as the Galaxy Note 2. So, if you read about something for GNote2, you will likely see it on this device too.
Thanks for reply. No, I'm not interested in installing ROMs. Just a standard CWR that would allow me to install zipped scripts and stuff to tweak camera. I.E. crossbreeder, etc. I installed recovery on my note 8 and added some scripts to make it run smoother and conserve battery. I've seen some recoveries out there, but there are questionable, but you have established yourself as a serious developer. That's why I asked.

GC-120
Adam,
I have a GC120 that was rooted and working fine. However not realizing that the bootloader was still locked I flashed a custom rom with mobile odin and did not make a back up prior to doing that. Now it boots directly to Download mode and I can not get it to boot to recovery. I can not find the stock firmware anywhere to try to flash through odin. I was going to try the unbrickable mod but I dont know if I feel comfortable taking the thing apart. Ive tried flashing the OTA updates for the device and still nothing. Any suggestions on how I can get this to work again ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.
those files still available or no?
Adam... a year ago i downloaded your files and keep it in my harddrive, but last week when i want to use it again, the files corrupted... i can't understand why because i used the same files for 2 times before.
Last night i tried to download your files again... but keep on failing.. my connection really good because i can download 1080 (-+ 1gb) movie everytime. So your files still available to download no? So
