I have dl30 installed, so the phone is rooted, at least theoretically. it also means I have clockwork installed. I'm trying to go to eb01, but odin won't flash the modem to my phone. it gets stuck at setup connection... any ideas?
There is a section especially for this. You should really search first. Its stickied at the top.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
no, there isn't a section for help with odin. I looked in the stickied thread, and found no odin help.
Try flashing adrynalyns di01 package, this should get you clean and back to stock. Then try the eb01

Do you have the battery removed? If not, try that.

i've used the search, i've been on a bunch of forums. Im going crazy.
im new at this.
So im running a fascinate. I just rooted it. I have rom manager, but everytime i try and download a kernel or theme or rom it says E:cannot do something blah blah.
i've heard i have to flash with odin, but i have no idea what that is.
Im on DI01. HALP
You need to go to a thread on clockwork mod recovery. Read that and install the necessary parts then it will work.
Happy hunting

If you look up at the roll up sticky at the top, there's a link inside to clockwork recovery odin flash. that's what you need.
so i went to that thread and found the thread, but all the odin files are dead, so i cant download odin to be able to get into dl mode to flash via pda or whatever

Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
oh thanks for the link. that looks like its going to work, but when i get to the little shovel triangle that says 'downloading do not turn off target'
my phone doesnt show up in odin
edit: phone showed up, but now its stuck halfway through the 'kernel' the first box in odin. know how long it should take?
It only took me like fifteen seconds...

Did you use CWMrecovery.tar with odin, or some other file?
I was able to get the phone into download mode. I assume there is something I am able to do with odin to get this working again, not sure what. Can I get some help?
You'll need to give little more information... What did you do prior to this? What build/baseband/ROM are you on? Details.

I'm currently on EB01 with superclean v2.3 nonvoodoo. I was trying to get bln working and I must have flashed the wrong kernel to the phone. I was under the assumption that the kernel worked on all phone models. I have found this link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867648 which is the stock.tar file. I assume pushing that to the phone using odin will return me to stock?
BLN support doesn't exist yet for 2.2 on the fascinate, since we don't have the kernel source to make custom kernels.
Can you boot into CWM? If so, you can just flash the eb01 kernel and that should fix it. Otherwise, flash back to stock and start over
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
That would explain where I went wrong.
I either can't boot to CWM or I am doing it wrong. I thought it was hold volume+ power and home.
Thanks for the help btw
So I was able to get it to boot to recovery. Does that mean I can use odin and just flash EB01?
You don't need to odin the whole package, just flash the kernel with cwm. That way you don't have to start from scratch, unless you want to

I got it all back now thanks for the response. I'm sure I would have eventually figured it out on my own eases my mind knowing I can ask a question and get a reply from someone who knows.

what exactly did u do? because my phone is doing the exact same thing and i keep trying different things but nothing....
I have heard of a lot of reports from people that loose functionality of their radio and even more drastic problems after flashing some ODIN packages...
Now, i don't know which ODIN package is responsible, i know that bubby323 did make a faulty package, somewhere down the line..
ODIN is a last resort... Us here can get you up and working most of the time without even having to open up... ClockWorkRecovery is our friend
If you absolutely need to ODIN, What i suggest is going into the package with 7-zip, and checking whether or not there is a modem file... if there is, delete it... That's just my advise
Also, i have had a couple of reports of people getting fried from with CWM.... As of right now, i would tread lightly in there.... Backups and Restores should be fine, but don't do anything crazy in there If you do need to do anything does not require edify (3.0+) scripting, i suggest using the blue recovery...
This is all just my own personal opinions and such, do whatever you want
Thank you for the warning

How about trying a wipe first? Then if that doesn't work, then i can get you up and working through Clock Work... Get into the IRC #Samsung-Continuum so that i can help you better
Used the method we use on the Fascinate and got it rooted again. Did a wipe and she fired up. Odin clockwork, booted to recovery, applied update.zip, flashed superuser zip file. I think that's right. I was do frustrated I can't recall lol

Just Odin back to stock. Some people advise to check repartition ,but personally from experience it doesn't matter if you do or not.

actually i just did a warranty exchange and the new phone came loaded with 2.1-update1. so I just odin'd the old one back to JFD and sent it in with no problems
I am an advanced user of a Samsung fascinate and really know nothing of the dx. With the fascinate we have a windows program called odin. With it, no matter what state your phone may be in or what ROM your on you can just enter download mode and flash the phone to stock.
ok. So my friend has a stock dx that i believe has a corruption somewhere. Its doing lots of weird things. No lockscreen.. Anything internet force closes. Stock launcher had not been working for quite some time..
I have read your dx stickys and am confused by the loops and hurdles to flash a stock image.
"if on this rom do this. If on that ROM do that. Or here's something easier do this, but make sure to boot strap this and don't sneeze."
Lol
What really is my best option for taking a stock phone to a out of box condition? Obviously i don't want backups of a broken system and would rather not root if i don't have to..
Sorry for the noobiness. i have never messed with a phone with encrypted loaders.

Follow the SBF tutorial that is stickied.
You're going to want the 602 sbf file.
You can then use About>Check for update to get on 605 (Newest).

Exactly, yeah.
I don't find a 602 sbf in the sticky. And why does it tell you " if your on this version use this sbf" there are like 3 options and none are 602

Sorry mate, forgot about our lack of stickies update here.
And no worries about which sbf go where and what-not.
The only time you had to worry about which SBF was before froyo.
The froyo version updated our locked bootloader...so the only limitation we have is we can't go back to donut (2.1).

Ok. The wording was confusing and i don't want to brick a friends phone. i called him and he is on 2.3 so all should be good

Make sure that your friends battery is fully charged and do not interrupt the SBF process at all this is very important and I felt someone should explicitly state this. If something goes wrong during SBF it is very possible that the phone can be bricked. Let us know how it goes because RSD lite can be very finicky depending on what OS you have on your computer and what not.
