Anyone else having this problem,
Sometimes when I get to unlock screen and swipe across it doesnt react to it the first time and I have to do it again.
Yes. Many, many times. I resolved this by downloading an app that gets rid of the bar from me, so now I press home. Unfortunately this means I have no security on my phone. Yay!
Yea; I mean how much of a problem is it though? I guess it takes a second sometomes to initialize the scanner.

I am not talking about the finger printer reader, also at work I have about 1 second to check phone, so it just gets annoying when I spend that one second trying to get passed the lock screen
Oh! Yea that happens to me sometimes as well; I hate it.
It also "confuses" me when I slide it but there's nothing really being slid you know? Just the color.

Never had a problem with slide to unlock.
The finger scanner though, you have to remember at what angle and what direction you scanned in. Finding a comfortable swipe is better than trying to get a correct register. It's kind of like practicing golf swings.
I didn't have this issue till I did a factory reset, now the lock screen is soo slow.

Was going to say same thing. I did my 1.5.7 update a little bit ago and really having seconds from when I hit the power button until my screen wakes up. I can actually hit the button and scan my finger before it comes on. Anyone else having this type of slowdown?
Sorry for bringing up a old thread but kinda based on what I am dealing with.
My Atrix keeps waking itself up after putting it to sleep and STAYING on...
It is killing the battery life. This has only happened since the update...
Solutions?
I had that once before on my old build. Not sure what did it but it did end up stopping after a little bit myself. I think it was an app that was doing it

I would check to see if any apps are causing your phone to wake up; I remember this happening on my Captivate last year. I don't remember what the problem was but I knew it stopped after a week or so.
Something I have noticed with 1.5.7 the supposed fix to allow the phone to sleep while charging was a sinple change in the setting under development. I also have noticed when you place the phone on the charger if the lock screen is up and you are using the fingerprint scanner. you can never ( or should I say rarely) get it to stay asleep as it keeps reading the button press as a finger swipe. The only solution I have found is to make the the phone is on the home screen and press the button to make it sleep. then it stays asleep
I have had things like this happen to me, for a while I was using GingerBlur and I thought thats why the phone was glitching but when I went back to stock I had it glitch like this a few times on me also... I almost feel like my Atrix is running a beta...
I have not had any issues with the slider itself but i have observed this for a few days now. When i slide to unlock the screen, it goes directly to the contacts page and just freezes for a while. no other buttons work except hitting the home button and then ot works as usual. Any pointers? i recently rooted my phone and flashed it with the Alien rom [build #4 - 2.6.32.9]

is it normal that my touchscreen goes nuts sometimes? I find that sometimes (usually at night or first thing in the morning) my touchscreen on my n1 is inaccurate. I'll touch in the middle of the screen and it will click on something on the bottom of the screen. if I reboot my phone, the phone works great again.
yes its normal, its been posted here that even stock rom will get that problem now and then. Although mine has been random, not at a certain time.
Google is working on a software fix for it, and cyanogen 5053 (for my experience) has cut that problem to a minimum. I think ive experienced that problem 2 times since flashing. So a span of 3 weeks it happend twice. So i say its been pretty good.
And you dont need to reboot, just turn off the screen and turn it back on. Last i had a problem, i did that and it worked.
So as soon google fixes it im sure this board will be flooded with threads about it. And the devs are fast enough to implement it to their ROMS!
Are you holding it differently at those times? You mentioned at night or in the morning. Are you still in bed? I find I sometimes grip the phone is a way that my hand touches the edges of the screen. That throws off the touches and I've noticed it jumping down to a different icon at times. Just make sure your hand doesn't wrap around to the front of the screen.
My nexus one touchscreen will go nuts at times too. Locking the phone and unlocking does fix it though. I'm also 100% positive it has nothing to do with erroneous input from the way I'm holding it.
ya I was making sure that I wasn't holding it weird. hopefully Google makes a fix : )
p.s. thanks for the tip on turning off the screen rather than rebooting the device.
mine does this too but it seems that if I just put it to sleep and wipe it off it's back to normal

Mine too does this w/ cyanogen 5053. sometimes it's so bad that i cannot even unlock the phone. I never noticed it this bad before on stock... but then again i only used stock for about two weeks before i rooted it.

I'm on a non modded phone and I get it every once in a while. Hit the power button and all is well.
Hello,
So I am aware of the Lag with the vibrant being a known issue. However, I have an interesting quandary. I own two of these, one for my wife and one for myself. I already had to replace mine for poor radio performance, now the replacement has a whole new set of problems. The display is saturated in contrast by comparison to my wifes original. and the biggest problem is a lag when the device is locked. As we all know, you hit the power button and the swipe-to-unlock screen populates. On my wifes this transition is instantaneous. For mine, I hit the power button and only occasionally will it come on instantly. Most cases, it takes a second or longer before the unlock screen ever populates. So what's going on here? Do these things just suffer high fail ratio?
Just high complainers I have 0 issues....
This would be easily dismissed as a guised complaint if I didn't have two devices of the same model behaving differently. While one works great, I've gone through two. One had a radio that would drop inexplicably and now one that is extremely lagged and has a noticeable contrast saturation in the display.
Ha. There is a VERY slight delay when waking the device. Boo-hoo.
A legitimate problem and this is the reaction?
If it takes a full second to unlock one phone and near instant on everyone else's, maybe there really is a problem with it?
I don't have this problem on mine, but I do hope you're able to find a solution to your problem.
I've noticed this happening to mine as well and it's kind of bothered me since the beginning. For being a 1ghz "super-phone" I'd expect it to be a little more responsive when performing the simple task of unlocking it. I've also noticed that once the screen starts to light up, it does so a little choppy. It doesn't smoothly transition from off to on. When I press the the power button there's about a 1 sec delay, then the screen goes from off to half lit to fully lit.
Does this happen to anybody else?
I had the same problem, until I did the "Stalling fix." Hasn't happened since.
I've seen this once or five times on my Vibrant, too. But my G1 would wake slowly on occasion too.

I've noticed if some kind of sync was occurring as I powered on my g1 or even the vibrant (before the stalling fix), it caused a slowdown. Network traffic was just eating up some resources and it was made a more pronounced with the way Samsung sliced the memory on this phone and the data it was syncing was on the slower memory (stalling). Usually, I'd see the icon lit up in the bar at the top. I'd go back and off/on it a few times and it would be fine. Of course, the sync would have been over with by then. But just as Bahnburner said, it pretty much went away after moving data to faster bit switchers.

That's the G1, though. My mytouch was pretty responsive, even after I loaded cyanogenmod 5 and 6. I never had this problem with that phone.
Another example of my screen unlocking lag issues:
Just now, as I was typing this, my phone completely froze when I tried to wake it up. I pressed the power button and the screen came on, but the phone became completely unresponsive. I waited for about 20 seconds until I lost patience and removed the battery to reboot it. This was the first time it happened since I got it on Thursday, but it still has me a little worried.
Even after a fresh reboot I get the 1 second screen wake up lag, and then a laggy transition from off to lit screen.
This is really the only issue I'm having with the phone. I don't experience lag anywhere else. I'm wondering if this is normal with other users or if I should get it swapped out.
its such a small delay, i didnt think it was a big deal :/
I have no lag waking it up whatsoever. I did have freezing when killing certain System apps. I stopped doing that and everything has been fine save for the occasional pause.
Try down loading no lock app. It will unlock your phone with one push of the power button taking away the need to swipe the phone.

with this app, you can also unlock the phone with the volume buttons..
Hi!
I just had a very weird bug. Suddenly when I pressed the home button the stock clock app (which I think is useless by the way) opened. When I pressed again the phone didn't switch to my home screen but stayed in the clock app.
When I tried to put the phone in standby and wake it up again my lock screen didn't show up, it was the stupid clock again.
I rebooted my phone and now everything is like it should be...
I'm running 2.3.4 (not rooted) with Launcher Pro.
Anyone else familiar with this problem?
I believe that you can set home button behavior in Launcher Pro. Not sure about the lock screen though.
I've had the same issue, always resolves itself though, especially after a reboot. Odd bug but doesn't occur enough to bother me.
But I agree the clock app seems largely useless, I have no wish to leave my phone screen on all night, and I can access alarm clock, gallery etc fine without.
I had this issue in January when I first got the phone, I guess on 2.3.1 or so. Anyways, the buttons did random things, and launching App A would result in App C launching instead, if you get what I mean. For example, I'd try to open Dolphin browser and Youtube would come up instead. I'm not sure why this occurred, and a simple restart fixed it. I wouldn't worry too much unless it keeps happening.
I only had it happen to me the one time.
I'm also experiencing this on my Nexus S, First the Car/Dock Mode appeared out of nowhere. It literally just launched itself while I was working at my desk! Now the home button pen up the clock App. Windows can't even detect the Nexus S now. No "you phone is plugged, mount it?" dialog box.
help!

Okay so I think I may have found a solution. I set my Nexus S beside my iPad 2 last night before going bed. I think it may have been the caused of magnets. yup. magnets. So I tried contacting both together. The iPad 2 reacted and lit up its screen and voila the Nexus S home button now works as a HOME and not a CLOCK button! I know its a little weird, may just be a coincidence for all I know! But mine works fine now.
Try it and let us know if this works for you!
Let me resurrect a dead thread here with a new solution. I began building my roms from source on the NS4G and immediately this bug appeared in them. Funny thing is only on my phone none of the testers had this issue. I decided to overwrite desk clock with desk clock pro on the market for free, and it knocked out the bug, and I still have my alarms for work.
Hey guys, I seem to have a problem with my A4g.
Basically, once in a while, the screen starts to press on its own. Usually towards the middle of the screen, so if i go to text message, keys such as "F" and "S" get rapidly hit on their own! Turning off and on the screen helps fix it, but sometimes i need to restart the phone altogether.
Anyone else having this issue?
I'm on Gingerbread with Unlocked bootloader and rooted but this problem has been around since i got the phone.
we'll need to know a little bit of information on your phone.
are you running stock software? (for instance, i'm using Ninja Speed Freak 0.4.5 and Faux's custom OC kernel)
have you dropped your phone recently?
has your phone gotten any contact with water recently?
do you have any suspicious third party apps installed?

OMG! its like a spirited game!!!
Sometime it happens to me, the screen to become unresponsive..
And i turn of the screen and on and its gone.
The thing happened at you it happens only with raindrops.
And rarely FP sensor dont work, so i reboot..
Are you stock? Or on a custom rom probably ?
As i wrote in OP, i'm running on the AT&T Unlocked bootloader 2.3.4 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182526
This problem isn't due to the rom, it happened to me before the update too.
Ive only dropped this phone once since May and it was on carpet.
have you tried doing a factory reset? quick google search brought this up for me, but i'm not having the problem so i can't test it out myself for ya =\
http://www.atrixforums.com/forum/motorola-atrix-general-discussion/889-screen-issues.html
That was the first method i tried 3-4 months ago with no luck.
I can't do that anymore because of the unlocked bootloader
Is anyone else having issues with the touch screen triggering at different places when touched, or randomly knocking off the phone when you're not even touching the phone? I turned off my knockon feature, but I would see my notification bar be highlighted without me touching it. Just wondering if i'm the only one with this problem.
No issues at all.

I just picked mine up yesterday and have not had any problems with it.
I've had since launch and For the first time today I had a glitch. Touched a link in the browser and it clicked a link 3 links down. Clicked back button and it went back.tried to click the link again and it clicked several links down. I exited the browser and restarted.Clicked the link and it worked perfectly. The only time I've had an (issue?) At all.the phone is practically perfect in every way to me. My favorites smart phone and I've been phone jumping since the HTC touch Windows mobile

this glitch is kinda what happened with mine, and i confirmed what it was doing
in swiftkey, you know how tehre's the option to change the long press delay? well i was holding down that little bar to drag it down, and i noticed while holding it inplace, the numbers were going crazy..it was going up/donw/up/down incredibly fast, instead of just staying stationary..i was like, wtf? so i went to dev options, turned on show touch points and the trace so i could see the axis, and i noticed it was freaking out. holding my finger in place, it was as if it was moving around like crazy.
so i did a factory reset and flashed the clean verizon rom scott posted, and it hasn't done it since. no idea wtf was going on. i realized it was messing up bc my typing became really bad, and it would enter things i didn't type.
Touch Screen has a mind of its own - bad digitizer??
I woke up today to find my screen on, showing the lock screen which I found odd. Now most of the time the screen has a mind of its own where basically its like an invisible finger is randomly touching the screen at a frantic place. This opens up apps, moves icons around, calls people if the phone app manages to get opened, etc. After struggling to override the "invisible finger" I've done a reboot from the power menu, powered off from the power menu and left it off for 10 minutes before turning off and held down the power and volume down button to reboot. None of these methods fixed the problem0
Please note I did accept the Verizon update but was good on it for a day prior to this issue. I have installed minimal 3rd party apps and can't attribute the problem to starting right after installing something. I do use the Ghost 100 wireless charger but have been using this from day 1 without issues so I don't think that'a problem either. The Verizon store sold me this charger and although its not listed as being compatible on Verizon's website I have a feeling that's cause the phone is so new. The charger is WPC certified. Being that this problem is intermittent (happens way more often than not) I think it may be a software issue and I'm about to do a hard factory reset. If that doesn't work then I'm convinced its a hardware issue and probably a bad digitizer. I've been very gentle with the phone - haven't dropped it, no moisture or water exposure, not rooted, etc. I'll report back if the factory reset works. Anyone else having the same or a similar issue?
Super buggy lockscreen!!!

You're not alone! My G2 has been driving me crazy the last couple of days when trying to use the lockscreen. It'll spaz out and either skip a connection of display a whole different pattern than I drew. It will also shut off the screen and reset the "wrong password" counter. I love this phone but this is super aggravating!
Hard reset didn't help at all. I went to a Verizon store and they exchanged for a new one and determined I had a hardware failure.
