Unless if you ABSOLUTELY NEED GPS, then i suggest you flash

battery life isn't that great. but we'll see if it improves after a couple charges and i fall back into normal use, cause right now i'm still in grabbing my phone every couple seconds to check/play with something mode.
I might flash this, I rarely use the GPS anyways. I've never used ODIN before though so it kind of scares me!

Where do you get themes? Thanks for this thread I flashed this thanks to you and I thought bionix 1.3 was stable + fast. Ill thank you once I'm off my phone. Thank you again my phone feels like it has new life with this aosp rom instead of a rom which uses the same base each time.

Folks, I just installed MIUI 0.1.14-RC2.5 and I am totally SPEECHLESS! It feels like a totally different phone! It doesn't even look like a typical Android phone anymore. Yes, it gives the phone an iPhonish feel, but it's amazing indeed. If you have been thinking about giving it a shot, NANDROID and give it a try!

UPDATE: Just wanted to add and compile a list of the little things that make this ROM great and UNIQUE. If you have any tip or things you have discovered, just post them in this thread and I will update the OP.
1. Built-in screenshot feature. Simply press volume down + menu, and you will be able to save a screenshot if your current display.
2. When making a call, you can RECORD the conversation. Once the number is dialed, simply click CALL TOOLS | REC and the call will be recorded and saved as an audio .amr file to your sdcard.
That's exactly how I felt when I first flashed it. Heck that's how I still feel after running it for close to 3 months. It's amazing.

Dude, I am in awe as to how flexible Android OS is. It's just amazing. I just finished flashing RC2.5 where they fixed the MMS issue. I think RC3 will be released tonight.
The ROM looks so professional and fluidly smooth. I don't even have to install Launcher Pro on it nor ChompSMS.

My opinions of course:
Sense ROMs - Myns, Fresh
AOSP ROMs - CM of course and MIUI (is MIUI considered an AOSP ROM?)
Kernels - Any that has SBC integrated

I'm actually running LauncherPro on top of it, and it is even smoother. Have you had a chance to check out any themes yet? I recommend the Darkness theme, it's pretty awesome.
I ran MIUI for a while, not sure if much has changed on it but it was pretty nice. Looks, functionality, and smoothness was awesome. Battery life was in between CM and Sense based rom. who knows with newer kernels and builds but thats how it went for me about two months ago
Yeah I don't know what battery life is like on Sense ROMs anymore but I always have 55-65% left every morning when I swap out batteries. If I forget to swap the battery I still make it through the second day no problem. I'm using these batteries though, and they do last a bit longer than stock.

The look is the least of the MIUI rom. The theme manager makes it very very easy to change the look of the UI.
I've been on this rom since the beginning. It has (had?) features before many Sense roms. One reason I kept going back is the controls in the pull-down screen. Then there's the file manager (ok, right now it doesn't work but 1.1.14 may fix it), the camera, the lock screen. I also like having folders to organize my apps.
I'm hoping that the Wimax on CM means MIUI can also get Wimax. It would be nice to have 4G.

How can I check it out? I'm still learning how to navigate around MIUI.
i feel like trying it, which version should i try? lol only things that dont work is 4g and hdmi?
LED's fully functional with Wimax LED Notification
version 1.1.7
Does this mean 4g is working on this version?
For those wanting to try it, official release thread here: http://miui-dev.com/forums/showthread.php?2053-New-Official-Release-Thread-1.1.7
The story with this ROM is that it is not developed for the EVO. It's officially made the for the Nexus One (I think), and we have a generous team of devs to port it over to the Evo each time the official devs release a new version (every seven days or so). Also the ROM is developed in Chinese so there's a lot of translation work to do.
1.14 was just released so those wanting to try out MIUI might want to wait a day or two for the Evo port to drop. If not, 1.7 is working great
I'm running CM7 right now with Launcher Pro. Yesterday I was using ADW. Tomorrow I'll be cursing Launcher Pro and using ADW again. Vice versa the day after that. And I'm sure at some point this weekend I'll flash back to stock/Sense and talk about how it's more stable, even though it's slower, etc., but then eventually I'll miss the speed of CM7. Back and forth... back and forth...
...anyone else share my frustration?

do a full wipe and re-flash it.
I do have a problem as well!
I am currently in a mega-slump... I can not find a "look" that I'm happy with on my phone =( I can't find icons, walls or docks that satisfy me!
I am pretty settled on CM7 tho.. have been a CM guy for a long time.. even tho I did mess around with Myn a touch.
I do hear a lot about Mikfroyo .. if CM battery life doesn't improve for me, I may give his rom a shot. I will be a total nUb again tho, Sense is strange to me now.

All I did was wipe cache/dalvik again and reflash the ROM overtop of itself, and it took.
It's nice... but meh... I'm so indecisive.
WiFi also wasn't working.
I can relate, though lately I have been completely content. My current setup is CM7 + LauncherPro. Yesterday I flashed MikZ and MIUI, but neither stayed on my phone for longer than 2 hours. There are just too many things about CM that I like that neither of those two ROMs, nor any other ROM can offer. This doesn't totally surprising because last time I settled down on a ROM was with CM 6.1.2 before I got bored and bounced around to MIUI, MikFroyo, and various others for a few of months.
BTW, if you are finding LP to lack in performance on CM7, try disabling elastic scrolling. The difference I noticed after doing this was like night and day and now LP is as smooth as ADW.
I'm very indecisive when it comes to launchers; one day its adwEX next its launcher7. Im pretty happy right now but next week it'll be diff.

I know this isn't the theme section.
But I'm afraid you're going to have to provide us with a link to those icons. I know it's harsh.. but it has to be done.
I made them from scratch (the phone is a windows wingdings font thing, though).
Attached .zip file has the separate icon images and the docks. I'm actually using the pre-made dock (with blank icons in place) because if I add the icons on separately (Launcher Pro) they're too small.

Idk, I would assume. I've only had it booted 10 mins or so. I'm still restoring apps.
It has a customized launcher... I haven't used V1 nextgen yet, so I'm not sure if it's a custom TW launcher or the GB launcher. I use Zeam so it'll get removed anyway.
Pulled a 1500 quad right into bootup. I'm setting up my apps, tossing in Bullet, and seeing what this thing screams at.

Quoted from Kevin Burns:
I am too exhaust right now to put the OP up in the forum. SO here is the brief changelog
added TouchWiz4 with working widgets
newly compile fugu binaries
"Stock" as in KA6 GPS configs for everyone who had problems hopefully this will help you out
Changed the Sdcard read hack and bumped it up to 2048
Newly updated Swype
Removed Starwars lockscreen but kept the Clock toggle
"Flying" animations
new hosts file to remove most junk and ads
Went back to Somb's GB look and feel
The wallpaper chooser is slightly off for right now, I have a fix for it, but it will forceclose everytime you reboot, but then work perfect afterwards. I will have a flashable up tommorow sometime for it. Otherwise the Wallpaper chooser that comes with nextgen2 works perfectly.

Yea, the launcher is TW4, animations are kinda cool, but I have them disabled.
The new swype they put in didn't work for me. The gingerbread KB is included, which I do use.
It's not themed, stock 2.2 look with the TW4 launcher.
It's really smooth and responsive ...looks like it's running a stock voodoo kernel.

Well...seems that you want a custom ROM. If you want to run the stock Sense ROM with android 2.1 you can install VillainROM 13 (it has some tweaks that make the phone rocket )...but you can try an AOSP ROM with android 2.3.5
Here are the links were you can download them
1.VillainROM 13 [Stock ROM with tweaks] -> HERE
2.Elelinux AOSP v3.3 [Android 2.3.5 with some tweaks and extra stuff] -> HERE
3.OMFGB AOSP by JieeHD [Android 2.3.5 with little modifications] -> HERE
4.Elelinux Speedmachine V5 [Android 2.2.1 with custom settings] -> HERE
5.Floyo 1.2 [Android 2.2.1 with custom settings] -> HERE
I recommend all of them, but you choose what you like, i used the first 3 and like them a lot. PS: i put some of the roms with the direct download link, if you want to see the page go to the development section
Keep me posted if you have any problems

on the 140 dpi version everything gets a little smaller. For me there's no problem to read the text and it is pretty useful to display more content at the screen. I've not found any apps that don't like the new lcd density

Yes, you're right. It's there on 140 dpi version (whig I use). Pretty sure it can be fixed, but we will have to find someone who knows how
sent with love from me to you
1.Download J/Z's CM7 ROM
2.Install Sonnysekhon's Amazing ICS theme for CM7. Download and install the Metamorph zip as well!
3.Download and install the ICS Launcher Clone. It's really smooth and pretty good in mimicking the features. There are a few bugs though but they're not that bad!
4.Download the ICS Apps listed here.Note:I've only tried Google Music, not the others. Use at your own risk. The ICS launcher shown is the same as the one in step 2.
5.Download and flash The ICS font
Now your phone will look a lot like Ice Cream Sandwich!

It looks quite nice and probably the closest to the real thing for now. It'll get better with time.
Yeah there are a few things about that launcher that bother me too much to be able to use it full time.
The scrolling dock annoys me
is the font works on stock rom?
removing the virtual keyboard would be an amazing idea being completly honest
it looks nice, but what means "a few bug",could someone who have tried tell some detail?

Sometimes (Very rarely) FCs
Widgets can be hard to move around
The dock bar is really weird
The app drawer is wrong, it should go horizontally like the real ICS
Overall it's a good start, and it will get better.
looks cool, will try it!
It think it looks really nice, exspecially the dailer and the notificationbar, would it be possible to rip them out of this rom and use them in my current theme?
What should I flash the font.zip with have tried with cwm recovery only got "aborted" then tried with xrecovery there it only get stuck and nothing happens and I need to pull out the battery.?

Come on, it's not THAT bad. It's relatively stable and yes it needs a lot of improvement but it's not sh*t.
Updates can make it much better. They need to fix the app drawer, dock bar and app carousel and it'll be alright.

The new version in on the market today and it is a huge improvement!
Static dock, carousel much better, and horizontal app drawer.
Also seems way smoother.

Is it a totally new app because I haven't got any update?

One is the paid version with more settings I think.
That sucks so you can't even find it in the market?

No I did have it before because I had the first version installed from market. Now when I looked it was gone from my installed apps and I can't find it when I search for it, it sucks big time.
