Just got CM7 and none of my apps and accounts transferred. My Titanium backup is showing on my SD Card in the file manager, but how do I move it from my SD Card to my phone so i can use it?

Make sure busybox is installed. Click have problems on the bottom of titanium and it will do it for you. Make sure install from outside sources is checked in the system settings under applications.
In titanium his the menu button to the right of home on the bottom of your phone. Hit batch. Scroll down and select restore apps. Select which ones you want to restore.

My titanium only shows on my SD Card. I tried to restore my recovery to take it back to stock and now it won't go past the MYTouch screen..any help? Is it because I need another version of Clockwork?
And now i reflashed CM7 and I get stuck on that load screen. Someone please help!
Sorry guys, I really suck, and I am a complete noob. Obviously I can't run my recovery because of the version of clockwork I have. Fixed my cm7 using a previous thread...I just had to go into recovery and and advanced and wipe my danvlik cache..So now back to the root of the issue. On my cm7 I dont have the market or any of my apps. i have them all saved to my titanium backup, but the app for that is not on my phone, it just shows on my sd card through my file manager. So what do I do to use titanium?

Download the gapps from the cyanogen website and install. You will get the market back. With titanium, when you start hit the problems button then "yes do it" option, it will download the busybox and all you backups will show.

I'm kinda pissed, I'm running Modaco 1.1 but already had WaveSecure when I installed the rom. I tried to remove WaveSecure via App Manager and after, my phone started showing no wireless connection so I soft reset.
On restart, I had about 20 Force Closes, and still no signal. Time for Nandroid Restore right? Wrong...
Did a Nandroid Restore, and the same thing happened. Still getting Force Closes, still no wireless signal. Apps that weren't on my phone at the time of the Nandroid Backup, are still on. So what is Nandroid actually for, because I thought it was a complete copy of your phone, and would return it to the time I made the backup?
I guess my only option now is to completely wipe my phone and start over....?
So I am currently working on integrating apps2sd in to my rom (fresh rom) because users who currently have apps2sd on their phones via modaco are receiving errors during install.
I have been working with apps2sd and getting it in my rom for 8 hours now and personally I have come to dislike it. It is a wonderful amazing idea and will be great once it's supported by google or HTC.
But think of it this way... apps2sd stores all apps on your SD card. nandroid doesn't backup your sd card or do anything with it. We have all come to rely on nandroid but if you need to restore because an app you installed broke something and that app is installed on your sd... nandroid isn't going to remove it.
Something to think about before everyone starts using apps2sd...

I thought about this, but I thought that just because the app is installed on the SD card, doesn't mean the info to find it on the SD is on the phone.
But, if this is the problem, just make a backup of your SD at the same time as each Nandroid, and you can revert each time together.
Just realized... maybe just wipe the ext portion of the SD card, where all the app2sd is, and it will rewrite itself on reboot, just like when installed the rom? or is it the rom that writes the apps over to sd?

What I do is I nandroid restore to the backup I made of the stock rom, then go into the recovery, wipe the ext partition, then install what custom rom I want.
I did a clean/wipe from the recovery image, and it left the modaco rom on there. Thought this would've returned the phone to the original rom, but guess not.
Sounds like your ext2 partition got hosed. Effectively your /data/app got wiped. You need to replace them somehow. Downloading and installing the apps from the market might be worth a shot, that might save your data and stuff.
My Vibrants USB connector is screwy and im going to ask for a replacement. Once I get my replacement, how I do transfer my info?
Contacts and Calendar will automatically get transfered from Google.
With Titanium Backup - do I just copy that folder over from one internal SD to the other and then proceed to reinstall apps?
What about other app data, etc.. Should I just copy over folders from one to other? Would that work?

I'll just echo shrivel and say you should be fine doing that however you will probably need to download the actual apps as the all's don't save with Titanium. Basically when you go to the market and download an app the apk is saved and installed on your phone what titanium will do is save all the data once you make a change to your phone say installing a Rom it wipes the data and uninstalls all of your apps. But it does not delete the apk so when you use titanium to restore it looks for that apk to reinstall it with the same data and setting. If you completely wipe your phone or copy the backup file to a new phone titanium will be looking for the apk to reinstall but its not there.
I know that was kind of long and if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

your backup folder containing all the backups should be named TitaniumBackup and placed on the root of your internal sdcard. or you can specify the name of your backup folder in the preferences menu in titaniumbackup.
also, titianium backs up your app+data for you, so you don't need to re-download it from the market. if you want to backup other stuff like call log, text messages, home screen icons, phone contacts etc, use 'mybackup pro'

In astro if you press the home button it should take you to the root of the internal sd. Top should say that you are in directory /sdcard. Just move the TitaniumBackup folder to there and it should work.
EDIT: The home button in astro BTW, at the top under the notification bar, not the android home button on the bottom of the phone.
titanium backup folder is there and all the files are in it.
When I open up the app titanium back up, go to back up/ restore and then hit menu, batch, I don't see the files that are in that folder only whats on the phone as it came from tmobile (none of my apps and files)
What am I doing wrong or failing to do?
If your going back to the same kernel/ROM you can do a nandroid backup of your system files as well.
I just recently got the MyTouch4G, got it permrooted and did a full back up of my sd card to my pc, but it's still on stock rom. I want to flash cyanogen7 but there's a lot of junk on the sd card first
My question is if it is okay to do a full format and if so, any advice on important folders or files I should copy back after the format, apart from the clockwork folder (i know that one is important)

Well do as I do just create a dir called Files and inside it make sub dir's and put all stuff you want in it like aduio, video, photo, ect. Also dont worry about the other folders in your root /sdcard. Far as format goes as you backed it up to your PC just format sdcard and if you missed something it will rebuild itself. Make sure you backed up video/photo whatever if you took any. Usually once you install something that requires you to place elements in the root of your sdcard after its complete always remove it this way you save yourself a lot of headaches later on. I always keep my dir nice and clean old habit of *nix world

Thanks for your response. Just curious but clockwork recovery on Vibrant saves itself as update.zip (if I remember correctly) on the root of the internal sd card. Where does it save recovery on MT4G? I didn't see an update.zip file after flashing recovery. Thanks again for your response

Its saved under /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup you will see the dir with timestamp. Normally I don't waste time backing up as I know what I am doing but if you do want it then go ahead and just mv the dir to your PC temporarily then sync back to sdcard once you are done.
Whatever data is saved even the cache on SD I know so if I find data that is valuable I still mv it to /sdcard/files and redirect that path. This way I have clean data scheme as you don't want 9000 bs on your root directory.

When you do this with MT4G, it puts that recovery flash somewhere.

I think CM comes with clockwork rom manager preinstalled. Your recovery won't change when you flash a rom. There's no need to back up recoveries because they're available in rom manager. If you need cw 3.0.0.5 just download the flashable version from the cm7 forum and save it.

Since the mytouch 4g installs some of the apps on the microSD card, does a nandroid backup include those in the system image? Or should I use something like titanium backup for those?

This is not really in reference to cyanogenmod but any rooted MT4G. When you root your phone you download and install clockwork. From rom manager, you choose ' flash recovery'. You choose your phone from the list and it flashes the recovery image somewhere on your phone. My question was to find out what directory does it flash recovery to and as what the file is called.
I am currently running gorillasens final but this would be the same as any rom here, possibly the exception being cyanogenmod

I've got Xoom 3.2 and I wanted to perform a backup. Clockwork 4.0.0.4 is what it says is the latest. I also have an Ext SD.
I did a backup as I usually do it from recovery, but it took too long... I reboot and I saw that I was running out of space, already 2.5GB.
My questions are:
- Is it trying to backup the entire Internal SD card?? That is about 30GB of data! I have a Nexus one and I am used to it just backing up that system to external SD? How can I do the backup on xoom without it backing up my Media and music and the big game data?
- Is there a way to make it back up to the External SD card instead of internal?
Will performing a WIPE wipe only system, or will it also wipe the Internal SD?

Yes, that version only sees the internal "sdcard" and will try to make a nandroid of it. You really need to install/reinstall the solarnz R4c Version 3.2.0.0 which was made specifically for the Xoom or at least the Rogue recovery which is based on v 4 but is also customised for the Xoom. As it is, you will not be able to flash from your internal sdcard either.
See, newer isn't always better.

So, say I go and I install 3.2.0.0.
It will see the External, I don't see any setting to specify where backups should go, will 3.2.0.0 aautomatically backup to external sd?
How about what gets backed up from Internal? Id on't want it all backed up!

So, I used 3.2.0.0 and backup went a lot better. Thanks it backed up to my external. The size is 2.5gb out of an internal sd of about 20gb.
I just need to know what it backed up from my internal sd and what it didn't?

One more thing rom manager now only sees the backups on the internal.. so I have to restore from recovery since backs are stored on external.
Just a bit screwed up this whole thing
Both recovery and from manager should have options to let user specify where to back and restore.

I actually stopped using ROM Manager for that reason.
CWM recovery backs up your system image. To further back up apps and their associated data, use Titanium Backup.
And doing a restore from the recovery menu is correct. You can use ROM Manager to get into recovery as long as you don't get tricked into "updating" to another version of cwm recovery.
You could also fool clockwork to thinking it its latest version flashed. This way you can still use rom manager if you choose and still have the latest modded custom recovery.
1. Open Superuser and "Forget" ROM Manager.
2. Open ROM Manager, and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
3. After it downloads, it'll ask for superuser. Uncheck "Remember," and Deny superuser access.
4. Go to /sdcard/clockworkmod/download/download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/, and rename the file that just downloaded to [whateverItIs].img.real. (The next step will be easier if you copy the filename first.)
5. Copy the x. x. x. x to this location & rename it to whatever the new ROM Manager download was called.
6. Open ROM Manager, and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery again.
7. This time, Allow superuser.
I cannot figure out how to get Nandroid Manager to work or ROM Manager for that matter to get a snapshot of my phone. I used the SD card method of rooting my Galaxy S4 (AT&T/I337) so all is good there. I am using Titanium Backup for my app data/settings/SMS logs, etc., but if I have to do another wipe/factory reset, I don't want to have to rebuild my phone again from scratch with all of my app settings, my launcher settings, and so on. I had thought I was backing up all the while using DropSync and I couldn't restore anything from that app or the external SD card for some reason.
I do not think I have either ClockWorkMod installed but I do have TWRP which I found out was automatically installed when I rooted (?). I realized too late of course (after reading these forums) that I shouldn't have even tried flashing the CWM but quite honestly I was trying to do 2 things - use the S4 as a USB Mass Storage device and backup my phone using Nandroid Manager or ROM Manager. I read that I needed to have CWM installed in order to do either. Is this misinformation?
The biggest problem I have with Nandroid Manager is that it seems to be backing up to nowhere. It's default backup location is /mnt/. When I tried to change the path to my ClockWorkMod folder (that I have on the internal SD), it said "This is not a valid ClockWork Mod folder." It also asks me to find the TWRP folder but I can't find that one either using ES File Explorer search.
I just want a snapshot of my phone so that if it goes squirrely, I hit a button and it's all back. Is this unrealistic with the MF3?
And btw, I can't use the SafeStrap method because my phone has to be encrypted since I use it for work email. It's one of the requirements by the company. I read that I should avoid SS for now.
